Food was quite flavorful & delicious. The quantity was substantial. Our waitress & the others that took care of us were friendly & efficient. Drinks were mixed correctly - no watered down bits here Loved the horse racing & old pub vibe. Music was subtly energetic, modern and at a column you could hear it, but be able to carry on a comfortable conversation. We will keep Seabiscuit in mind for return trips.

Google
Seabiscuit Cafe. Awesome dark decor. Horse Race interior. LOUD and tight tables. I got Whitefish Rueben and hubby got French Dip Philly both with kettle chips. Waitress was awesome sweet young lady. Not really for families or big groups, maybe?

The 2 dudes there were so attentive. They got us seated quickly while seating another large group. I was impressed with their efficiency. Out waitress was great too. The kids loved the French toast, my wife got classic bacon and eggs..I got the eggs Benedict. Everything was great, hit the mark. Will return for breakfast again.

The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, bustling with patrons enjoying good food and company. It's a cozy and welcoming spot. We sampled several dishes, starting with their best seller, the white fish and chips. This dish did not disappoint, especially with the flavorful tartar sauce that perfectly complemented the fish, which would otherwise taste bland. The smoked whitefish chowder bowl was excellent, particularly on a windy, chilly day, providing comforting warmth and rich flavor. The whitefish Reuben was a pleasant surprise, offering a delicious sandwich option. However, a downside was discovering that some items on the menu are only available in the evening. This was disappointing as we were really looking forward to trying the shrimp pasta.

Google
We stopped in for lunch. It is extremely tiny so we had to wait about 1/2 hour. Could have waited A LOT less if we would sit at the bar. Food was phenomenal. I had their loaded nachos others had loaded potato soup and painted pony macaroni. My advice .... Everyone that sits at your table get something different. You'll be glad you did. Oh my goodness if you are foodie - GO HERE NOW!

Google
Mary our server, was incredible and superior to say the least. She went above and beyond for my children at breakfast. I was blown away with her etiquette and speed of service. The food here was just as amazing. I couldn’t recommend this establishment enough.

Jenna M

Google
I wasnt super impressed with the breakfast, felt a bit pricey for what we got. Food was alright, took a minute to come out (it was fairly busy though), however our server was good! Overall I would probably skip the breakfast, but im sure other meals here could be good

Google
Excellent food. We got the whitefish & chips, Triple Crown sandwich, pulled pork grilled cheese, and Painted Pony Macaroni (deep-fried mac n cheese balls). The macaroni balls were good but were a little dry inside. Otherwise, would highly recommend everything else we ordered! Service was good as well.

Teresa H.

Yelp
As a huge reuben fan I knew we had to stop here when I saw a FISH reuben on the menu. It was absolutely incredible. 10/10. Would eat it again tomorrow, and the next day. The mac and cheese balls were quite good too, as were drinks and service. But really, if you're a reuben fan why are you even still reading this- get here ASAP.

Yelp
The Seabiscuit Cafe has excellent food (the whitefish parmesan is fantastic) but can't seem to decide whether it's a sports bar or fine dining experience. The food is among the best we had on the island, and the service is outstanding. Tables are jammed really close together and the music is way too loud for conversation. The TVs with sporting events are an odd addition, though the monitor with the Seabiscuit film is a nice touch.

Adrienne A.

Yelp
Seabiscuit Cafe is one of my favorite stops on Mackinac Island. The cheese crock appetizer is always a favorite. I recommend adding extra garlic toasts because they're excellent and you'll get more cheese than you can scoop on the toasts provided. I also shared the lobster roll with a family member and it was quite good and reasonably priced considering the quality and in comparing it with the prices of lobster rolls in the Detroit area. Main St can get noisy and busy but I always find some quiet and comfort in the cozy booths at Seabiscuit Cafe.

Yelp
The atmosphere was amazing the bartender Chris definitely was a highlight of this place. He suggested lots of things to do on the island definitely stop in and say hello! Tell him his fellow friends from South Florida Dawn and Kevin say hello!

Yelp
This dark and tiny little hole in the wall really threw me for a loop - I don't know what I was expecting, but this was by far the best meal I enjoyed on my most recent trip! My wife, daughter and I had been eating dessert most of the day (on an island known for fudge, I don't think this is an uncommon experience). Yet, we needed something with some substance - so we got the nachos, which I unfortunately did not photograph as they were truly a sight to behold! Complete with pulled pork, melted cheese, nacho cheese sauce, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, and loads of more toppings, they were some of the best nachos I have ever had in my life. It's only been a few days and I'm already craving them... And then an ice cream sundae. Why? Because when there is an option to order an ice cream sundae with Ryba's fudge covering the top, you do NOT pass up such an opportunity. IT. WAS. AMAZING. There are so many great dining options on the island, but this one proved to be one of my favorites. Needless to say, I will return!

Yelp
Not a bad place to visit. A little pricey and overcrowded though had fresh whitefish, fabulous ravioli, a great ambiance, and great company.

Yelp
ROMEO Review Seabiscuit Café Mackinac Island, MI On an island known for saltwater taffy, fudge, bicycles, and horses; the Seabiscuit Café is something you can bet on. Based on a recommendation from our bartender, we treated ourselves to breakfast on the way out of town. (Thx Paige) The broken yolk breakfast sandwich an thick sourdough toast gets the ROMEO stamp of approval. Crispy, smoked bacon and plenty of melted cheddar cheese bring this Sammie home. As a side-note, this pairs nicely with a spicy Bloody Mary they serve up. Based on our quartet of hungry tourists, the only thing to avoid may be the avocado toast. Seabiscuit Café has its own triple crown of breakfast, lunch and dinner - 8AM to midnight. A solid 4 star place that you'll probably have wait to get a seat. ROMEO Retired Old Man Eating Out

Yelp
My wife and I had to get some real food into our bellies before experimenting with the exotic delicacies of Joann's. We split the Champ's Choice, a plate of scrambled eggs and sausage with hash browns & toast. Solid pub food, friendly staff. Wish it had been later in the day so we could have enjoyed their spirits.

Benjamin J.

Yelp
cute, quaint and got me starving the moment we (my GF and I) read the menu. We came here a few weeks ago during our midwest road trip and it was our stop on Mackinac island. I know there were other restaurants to eat at but I believe the Seabiscuit Cafe offered the best variety of foods that wasn't just fried goodness. The restaurant, staff and food were amazing. It was cute to see it all decorated after Seabiscuit. they even had the movie playing on repeat in the restaurant But the food was wonderful - unfortunately I can't remember the names of the dishes However, trust us when I say come to this cafe. It was so good, we came twice for breakfast and dinner during our day excursion on the island I also got a quarter zip cause the food slapped that much haha

M.A. B.

Yelp
Food was good - nice sized portions. Very busy and popular but service was good. Decent value for Mackinac Island.

John F.

Yelp
Guess what? Food is crazy expensive when you are a tourist on an island! Be prepared for NYC prices.... but at least the food was good, and so was the service. Liked the horse racing theme of the restaurant, not just the decor, but also on the menu. The movie Seabiscuit was playing on a loop on the TV. The Smoked Whitefish Chowder was good and so were our meals. I had the "Triple Crown" (which is a club sandwich) and my wife had the Whitefish and Chips. Everything was fresh and prepared well. Enjoyed the meal... hated the check!

Yelp
Food: 5 Customer Service: 5 Location/ Parking: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Reservations: NA This restaurant is situated on Main Street on Mackinac Island, and within walking distance from the ferry dock. This cafe is a very popular place for locals and tourists to the island. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious and mouthwatering choices that will appeal to everyone. Our waitress was very friendly, helpful, and attentive to our needs. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some great food!!!

Abigail C.

Yelp
There are a lot folks standing outside as there is no interior waiting area. so Just place your name with the host and wait. Our wait was about 10 minutes and looks like some grabbed a seat at the bar rather than waiting for a table. Its not big inside the decor is obviously about the famous race horse Seabiscuit. Once we finally got seated we were able to order and get our food fairly quickly. My other half had the fish and chips and I ordered the pull pork sandwich. Food was good and our waitress was friendly. The only thing we really did not like is the Seabiscuit Cafe did not offer or have a high chair for our little one. Also their restrooms are one person only, and no changing tables for the little ones. So overall, I thought the food was tasty just does not seem to be the most kid friendly since we were not offer a high chair.

Michelle P.

Yelp
Breakfast 2 different days. Good is good. Sat at the bar both days. Was very busy (especially on the rainy day). Bartender/staff friendly & attentive.

Roxanne B.

Yelp
Delicious nachos!! Delicious cider!!! Awesome staff!!! Definitely get the nachos it's a full meal for 2 to share. Had the Blake's hard cider, a must have!! Staff was attentive and friendly

Roy C.

Yelp
If you go by all means ask to sit in Kara's section. She was bubbly, had a comeback to every remark made by our joker guy. It was all in fun bantering back and forth. Pretty much made our evening a delight. Food was quite good. A little pricey but it is a resort area. All in all each person really enjoyed the food.

Frank B.

Yelp
There are several nice places to have breakfast on the island, I would avoid this one. There was no decaf coffee, and the coffee we got was luke warm. The breakfast was greasy and not very appetizing. The staff were surly. Just not a fun way to start the day.

Jenny P.

Yelp
We had breakfast here one morning. The staff was only a few people and there was a short wait for a table but they were so good at their jobs. We started with drinks and my friend got a Bloody Mary and a shot of beer. She said the Bloody Mary was good. My sister got a Biscuit Bellini and said it was really good. I'm not a drinker so I stuck with water. I got a cheese omelet and home fries. The eggs were fluffy and so good. Lots of cheese. My friend got avocado toast and a side of bacon. The bacon was the star. It's candied. My sister tried it and immediately ordered a side for herself. My sister got eggs Benedict. She ate it all and said it was really good. Although the staff was busy, they were nice and fun to talk to. We had such a good breakfast experience we went back later for drinks and apps. Drinks were my water. Ice cold and refreshing. My sister got the Saddle Up Sangria and my friend got the Tito's Handmade Spicy Mango Mule. The sangria had lots of fruit and was beautiful. They were both happy. We got the nachos with the pork on the side (I'm a vegetarian) They were yummy with! We also got the cheese crock. Hot pub cheese with toasted pieces of baguette. Yum. Great place to eat on the island!

Yelp
Centrally located on Main Street in Mackinac Island, Seabiscuit Cafe is a great place to grab a meal while on the island. The restaurant is small, so pack your patience if you're heading there as there might be a wait for a table but it'll be worth it. The menu has many different options so no matter best you're craving there's bound to be something for you. I ordered Buffalo chicken wings and smoked whitefish dip for appetizers followed by a cup of their whitefish chowder. For my entree I got the WhiteFish and Chips. Everything was so delicious and our server was very attentive. I'll definitely be back when I return to the island.

Lynzie H.

Yelp
Best fish I've ever had. Ordered the whitefish and asparagus. Had a creamy lemon sauce on it. Definitely stop by this place for a great dinner.

Mary W.

Yelp
Really delicious food - the avocado toast with shallot was amazing. Excellent, friendly service and the food came out quickly. We were there in fall, so no wait since we got there at 9:15. Noticed it got busier around 10 am. Highly recommend!

Kendall R.

Yelp
Awesome Gluten Free bread from Rumi's Passion Bakery in MI! Which really elevated my Avocado toast with pickled onion. Also perfect scrabbled eggs, not dry. Service was great, very fun waiter who looked like he had a twin there.

Holly K.

Yelp
Went there on Sunday night and the only highlight was the Mac and Cheese balls. Our server came over once the whole time, no refills for drinks. My sister ordered the pulled pork grilled cheese and there was hardly any cheese or grilled onions. She ordered fries and got chips. I ordered the nachos and I can make better ones at home. Chips were burned on top and cheese was not melted. Asked for two boxes and never got them so we just paid and left. Which for the prices they charge that was the last time we will go there.

Natalie W.

Yelp
Wait was about 30 min but the Whitefish Reuben and chowder were phenomenal. Seating is pretty limited so if you have a smaller party, recommend getting bar seating or just putting your name down and walking around.

Chris H.

Yelp
Decent breakfasts, loved the Bloody Mary mix but it was very light on the Tito's vodka, could hardly taste it for $14. Breakfast was hearty, Champ's Choice, $19, overpriced but it satisfied the hunger. Waitress was super friendly, appreciated her service!

Maxwell L.

Yelp
Due to the large summer crowds and potential lengthy wait times, coming to Mackinac Island on an empty stomach can be a dangerous game. Luckily, Seabiscuit caught our eye. Juxtaposing the bright old-timey aesthetic of the island, this cafe had vibes akin to a dimly lit beer tavern. There menu was simple with a fare of basic American appetizers, sandwiches, and salads. We ordered the Sicilian steak sandwich and whitefish Reuben (they both came with complimentary side of kettle chips). The Sicilian steak was pretty tasty and moist (especially dipped in the steak jus), but a tad on the salty side. The bun felt a little factory made and left a little to be desired. The whitefish Reuben was a very interesting flavorful take on the classic 'which, however, the fry on the fish was a a bit greasy. The service was quick, responsive, and painless! Overall, a decent spot for a quick lunch bite.

Caroline C.

Yelp
Favorite restaurant on the island and one of our family's favorite breakfast spots ever! The food is always delicious, and the service is fast and friendly. Always hits the spot after a cold ferry ride! Definitely recommend!

Steven Y.

Yelp
We went to Seabiscuit Cafe on our first night on Mackinac Island. We had come over on a later ferry, check into our hotel down the street, and headed in to see if we could get a table. After just a short wait we got a nice table in the dining room by the bar. The bartenders served our table as well as worked the bar and they did a really nice job, working as a team to make sure that we were well served. We started with two of their signature drinks. The Old Fashion was one of the best ones we tried on the trip. For dinner, I ordered Fish and Chips which are made with white fish from the great lakes. The batter was light and crispy without being oily. The tartar sauce was good and added to the fish. The fries were ok, but I am not a huge fry guy anyway. My wife got the fish tacos which were also delicious. The setting at Seabiscuit is themed on horse racing and the movie was showing on one of the TVs. It does make you feel like every day is derby day, and it was a nice place to have a casual dinner.

Robert B.

Yelp
We had the fish dip, Rueben and the Derby burger. Excellent service great atmosphere. Both our meals were excellent the rye bread with the Rueben was a milder rye which I really liked. The derby burger with chicken the chicken was cooked well and still juicy. Thank you for a great meal.

Ronda L.

Yelp
The club is a full of delicious meats. Our waitress was fun and very accommodating to all our needs. We were seated quickly in this nicely arranged comfortable restaurant. Loved the feel of history.

Erin P.

Yelp
Came here for lunch after getting off of the ferry. I got the Spicy Mango Mule and the Perch Tacos. Both were alright, but nothing too exciting. My mom got the Georgia Peach and the Falafel Sandwich, which were also just alright. The service was good; our waiter was very nice and attentive.

Tom M.

Yelp
This establishment, like too many lately, charges a 3% fee for paying with a credit card. With prices as high as they are on Mackinac Island, who carries that much cash? A total rip-off on top of pushing 20+% tipping.

Matthew M.

Yelp
Island was super busy, as im sure it usually is, however we were seated in 5 minutes. Waitress was very friendly and attentive, despite every table being full. Prices were tourist town average, not overly expensive, but the food quality was excellent. Lobster roll was great and the lobster meat portion was huge. very happy. Kids cheeseburger was a pleaser. Wife had the chopped salad which looked excellent and she said was great. Mac and cheese bites also great. Definitely recommend. A little loud but good atmosphere

Kelsie D.

Yelp
Great service, good brunch, fun time! Autumn was fantastic!! Breakfast (on Sundays, or at least today) served 9-11am.

Kourtney S.

Yelp
I had breakfast at Seabiscuit Cafe. I got the eggs benedict. The food was good and the service was quick and friendly.

Nick P.

Yelp
We showed up after 9pm after the busy season but still had great food and amazing service. Their late night menu really hit the spot, and our bar tender who was our main server was incredible. He provided excellent service and entertained us with stories from a local on the island. We had the fish and chips which came in a delicious batter, and signature drinks kept us there until closing time. Will definitely be returning on our next trip back to the island.

Buggy H.

Yelp
Wow! The food is incredible! The atmosphere is so cozy and welcoming. Josie, our server, was the highlight of the trip! Her energy instantly brightened our day and had the best recommendations for our vacation. 10/10

Christina D.

Yelp
The atmosphere was nice, the bar was nice, and the employees were very friendly. We were starving and ordered the fish and chips and it was probably the worst I've ever had. The fish was grey and dry, and tasted freezer burnt. At the price they charge it should be amazing. It looked good when it came out, but as soon as we cut into it, it was horrible. If it wasn't for the amazing staff, I would probably never go back. The people next to us ordered sandwiches that looked amazing, I was just very disappointed being right there on the water, the fish should be amazing. Was going to send it back, but it was so slammed, we were so hungry from all the walking and long day, we just ate the fries which were good and left the rest.

Victoria M.

Yelp
Planned to eat dinner here because our hotel we were staying at has a partnership with Seabiscuit Cafe, so we had some comps to use. Came mid-September. We put in our name and told it would be an hour or so wait. No outdoor seating and pretty small inside. Got our text that our table was ready and we made our way in. The theme is cute with the play on horses. Inside is moody and dark with rich woods and burgundy. Single stall restroom. Plexiglas make-shift barriers were put between tables and booths. We weren't 6 feet a part from the table next to us but I guess that's why the Plexiglas was there. However, there was no partition between me and the person next to me sharing the wall-length booth/bench. Staff were wearing masks. Menu was not very big - only 8 main entrée choices, couple appetizers, and couple salads. The entrees offered seemed to be better for a hardy lunch than dinner. They do offer breakfast from 730a-11a and lunch/dinner from 11a-9p. We went with drinks and happy to see paper straws. However, we decided to stick with drinks and get apps/soup - nothing on the entrée menu enticed us to stay around for dinner. The cheese crock is a must and so good! Warm cheese and bread - doesn't get any better. Perfect to split between two people. Also got the tomato bisque soup and smoked brisket chili. The cups of soup were very small - you could take about 4 spoonful's and you would be done with your soup. The cornbread cake that came with the chili was good but the chili was okay. The menu when I went vs. the Yelp food pictures did not seem to match up? We went on our way and visited another place for dinner. But we enjoyed ourselves while here.

Meghan O.

Yelp
We had the whitefish dinner, lobster roll, Mac and cheese balls, and a grilled cheese. Food was great, service was fast and the restaurant was cozy.

Trey J.

Yelp
Spent 4 days on island and found a lot of average food for above average prices. Tried Sea Biscuit for breakfast on a whim, and very impressed. Staff and food. Felt I received way above average food and service for comparable island prices- maybe a touch more but tried dinner that night as well. Outstanding! Went back for breakfast the next day. Went 3 for 3. I didn't eat everywhere but Sea Biscuit and the Yankee Rebel were my faves- better than the others. I don't drink alcohol. If you want a drink at breakfast - mimosa / Bloody Mary etc. They have it going early.

Angie S.

Yelp
The service was wonderful. Lisa took excellent care of our large party of 9. The Waldorf salad and whitefish chowder was a hit in our group and from a kid's perspective the kid's menu had their staples and my 8 year old said best chicken nuggets ever while my 10 year old loved the cheeseburger. Great for families!

Sheila F.

Yelp
It's really dark inside, but comfortable. The service was good, although we did have to find our waitress to get more coffee. The food was ok, but not worth the money.

Cole F.

Yelp
Service was very fast and friendly. Food was great and not too pricy. Certainly plan on coming back!

Carlos J.

Yelp
The fish and chips was so good! Locally caught and very mild whitefish. I was like chicken. The drinks were fab too. Music was amazing 70-80's mix

Ashley D.

Yelp
The best avocado toast I've ever had! My family who also ordered it agrees!! Very friendly and fast service! Highly recommend if you are able to get in. Loved the seabiscuit memorabilia also!

Heather G.

Yelp
So delicious! Super busy and quite loud during the season but worth it. We each got a sandwich to split and they were super yummy. I also got a cup of whitefish chowder which I love. We got the triple crown and the steak Sicilian I think. Our server was fantastic and super on his game. We will probably be back when we are next on the island.

Kylie D.

Yelp
The food at Seabiscuit cafe is delicious and well priced! I got the Michigan Hot Chicken and the Cajun Chicken Pasta. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun! We also got the Manmosa and the Michigan Cherry Cocktail. Both were fun and yummy! There was a bit of a long wait time. We arrived around 5:30 and were told the wait time was 30-45 minutes. This gave us time to walk around and buy some Mackinac souvenirs. But I won't hold that against them as the establishment is cozy and there are only a few restaurants on the island!

Katherine J.

Yelp
Service: wait staff was great. However, food was soooo slow. So slow that we almost left. Food: Cheese crock appetizer: 1/5. Not good at all. The cheese was curdled and separates. Cajun pasta: 5/5. Fabulous Whitefish platter: 1/5. Pretty good, but my son's stomach was a mess after eating it. Chicken sandwich: 4/5. Shrimp & grits: 4/5. Ambiance: bar atmosphere.
