This place is one of our choice eateries while on the Island...and well, we hit an unlucky time to visit.
We got there prime time, almost 7 pm on Sunday...and the wait was nearly an hour. We wanted to be seated on the patio, but given that the restaurant closed at 8 pm, and the sun was waning, we decided to get the first available...and ended up getting the partial patio seating.
Anyway, I must mention that on Edisto Island, many restaurants aren't even operational...for various reasons. Closed WAY too early, not at all or whatever, and this was a huge, recurring disappointment. Maybe since May is still off season, maybe due to the pandemics, maybe due to being on Sunday...whatever the case, the dining options were very limited! I DO give props to SeaCow for being one of very few restaurants that remained diligent, and stayed open (though it took customers only 'til 8 pm).
Second bit of disappointment. They were out of Clam Chowder, THE one thing I wanted from this restaurant. This is the other thing...not just this, but many/most places throughout this island...they're just out of things, no matter what time you get there. ANYWAY, I ended up getting their Fried Flounder/Scallops combo...and as usual, they were good. Fried Calamari was surprisingly good too. Honestly, I just wasn't in the mood for this type of food (Fried on Fried?!?), but again, the choices on the island was limited. There are zero ethnic foods on this island (minus the Tacos and the Pizzas). Still, I've always thought the foods were solid here. My husband and son seemed to enjoy their foods too.
The only reason I'm going down one star is due to my disappointment of them not having Clam Chowder. I was also quite frustrated with the long wait...and NOT getting the desired patio seating. I DO realize that the long wait and the seating issue wasn't necessarily their fault...but can't say that I enjoyed the dining experience due to all these glitches.
