Decided to check out this spot and very glad we did. Its BYOB and that make fit perfect. The portions are nice and the quality is definitely a plus when it comes to my taste palate. So we got here on a rainy night, no reservations of course because it was last minute to meet up with some friends. But there we were and were quickly given a choice of seating. You know we had to pick the window seat! Of course I jokingly referred to it as Peabo's Pet shop and us on display like Magilla Gorilla. (Unless you're a 70's child you probably wont get the reference but Google it). I am so glad that we did get to sit here because as people watchers, we were able to watch people in the rain, with umbrellas and just was a good experience. We quickly gave the waitress (who was so kind) our wine and she brought us back a wine cooler with ice. I like that, as many establishments do not do this and just bring you ice. She also provided us wine openers which was nice also.
Now getting back to the sushi, the dragon maki roll was one of my favorites and gave you a sense of freshness. The perfect amount of unagi and spicy mayo. I personally thought it to be one of the best ones I've eaten ever, and that says a lot since I am a sushi snob (You don't know my life, don't judge me, haha). Oh and the eel sauce that was part of it was amazing! I know it sounds complicated, but truly its not, and just super tasty. Enough of the roll for sharing, but why share this one? I also hooked my friends to edamame which of course they never tried, guess who is hooked now? For an appetizer its the perfect start to a fun filled evening.
Again the atmosphere is beautiful and if it were warmer outside, of course the patio is a plus. This time around we couldn't use it but trust me I will be utilizing it once the weather permits in a few months. Ahhhh Chicago, your weather kills me but you gotta love it. At least once in your lifetime should one try sushi and other items they are not used to. We decided to do the Russian roulette of tasting and it certainly paid off. Its fun when you can try various items and not fear because someone in your group will eat what you don't like. But that wasn't the case this night, we ate, drank and just had the best time reminiscing of old times. That is what a good restaurant experience should offer. The atmosphere to me really makes or breaks a place and I am so glad that this night was one of the better ones. I highly encourage those who need wine or beer with their meal to BYOB and just enjoy the food. After all, not all restaurants offer that option!
