Was really looking forward to staying at this place but did not realise after a very long drive and late arrival that we had been bumped from our designated room, despite twice ringing to confirm we we en route (no answer on first call).
We were then given the “Loft Room”, which differed by having:
- No balcony for breakfast
- Single beds instead of King
- To lug a heavy case up a very narrow staircase with 180 degree bend
- Phone quick dials do not work
Disappointed not to be able to dine at the restaurant after seeing its menu. It closes at 8pm, though that seems rather unaccommodating when another couple and us asked at 8:30 and reception told us “we get late check ins all the time”.
To top it all off, a quite rude lady castigated me and gave a dismissively superior laugh when saying I had to mark down whether breakfast was in the room or dining area AFTER I had said we didn’t fill the card in. When I further said that reception had done it she asked me why they would do that?! Seriously; how the bloody hell should I know?!
When she brought breakfast, my wife asked her about being in the wrong room. To be fair, she wasn’t the right person to ask, but she decided to compound her obnoxiousness by saying they were both garden view rooms and we had a garden view! I was not going to say anything prior but was then obliged to point out she should just say to ask at reception as she was so completely wrong. Were we meant to move furniture so we’d have a view (because that was the only option)!?
$40 refund for the above disappointment was quite inadequate, especially when the lady who gave that was responsible for the room stuff up but made it extremely clear she did not want to discuss it beyond her pre-emptive apology. In all likelihood, it was to rent an accessible room, which I would never begrudge except that the equivalent ground floor room was inexplicably empty!!!
Such indifferent and poor service has led to this scathing review but I have left 1 star for the nice young lady who welcomed us.
