We had an awesome 7 night stay with 5 families. They placed us all in an area to ourselves. Nice campsites, with water and 30A electric hook ups. Very nice restrooms and showers. Lots of things to see, and a great play area for kids. Staff was friendly and service was exceptional. Easy access to the ocean and incredible tide pools at low tide. Very pet friendly.

very cute campground with stunning views of the bay. we stayed in one of the walk-in oceanfront tent sites and did not regret the choice. plenty of tree cover and lots of beautiful nature to look at. bathrooms were clean and showers were always warm!

We booked this place well in advance of our trip. It stated that we could bring dogs. We were camping in our trailer. They sent a bunch of information and I thought I read thru all their policies. But when we arrived we were told that we were never allowed to leave our dogs in our camper and that we had to disconnect our electric when we weren’t there. When I told them that we cannot possibly take our dogs with us everywhere we go (they are small dogs) they argued saying “it’s our policy etc etc”. Then the lady called the boss and she re-emphasized and blamed electric for the reason we couldn’t leave our dogs in our air conditioned trailer when we were at the campground. We didn’t drive 14 hours to Maine to sit in our trailer with our dogs. We cannot take them on every shopping trip, excursion and dinner. The rules are ridiculous. They stated something about not enough electric. I don’t know if it really is in the policies I didn’t bother to look after we left but my review is based on my experience. If I missed it in the rules that’s my fault but to make someone who’s just driven 14 hours here find a new campground on July 4th week with kids and a dog when we clearly didnt know from the emails was obnoxious. There was no reason for 3 nights they couldn’t have made an exception. They, they didn’t even offer a refund. One mile down the street is another campground that said they had never heard of such policies. We had to pay twice for vacation which is no small sum of money. Then they wanted us to drop off our dog at some random boarding facility I didn’t know anything about. They don’t get boarded and they don’t have kennel shots for this reason. This campground should not take pets period. Not a recommended place. We had to search and search on the side of the road for a home for 3 nights. Disgusting.

I had a wonderful time here! I was on an ocean view tenting site. I had the most gorgeous view every day, especially the sunrise. I saw many great blue herons as well as other birds! Everyone there is very friendly, the camp sites are beautiful, bathrooms and showers are clean and they have different fun things going on each day. Searsport island is so much fun to go to and really close if you want to go clamming or even just walk the beach or trails. I had the most fun here I have had in a very long time while getting away from regular busy life. My boyfriend said it was his favorite camping trip ever we will definitely be back! Also they have the cutest goats.

We were greeted by the most lovely hosts, Astrig and Steve. The ocean front sites each have their own patio overlooking the ocean. They have extensive gardens both flowers and vegys as well as farm animals. All appealing to children and couples alike. Facilities are very clean. I would not think twice on returning.

We loved this campground so much! Our daughter (6 years old) loves all things art, music, and the ocean and this campground was made for her! From the daily art activities, to weekly music, and daily trips to the ocean, we were all HAPPY CAMPERS! The campground is so quirky, everyone is so friendly, and we can't wait to book again next year! My only feedback is that there is someone who escorts you to your campsite and then they assist you with getting your camper/trailer into the site. The escort to the campsite was a wonderful welcome into the campground! I would like to see this person ask if we need assistance getting backed up into our site vs. automatically helping because it definitely threw off my husband and I off in our "flow" with getting our rig backed into a spot. However, at the end of the day, now that I know this, I will definitely advocate with this person during our future visits that we are OK getting into our site ourselves. If you are exploring midcoast Maine, this campground should definitely be on your list!

My family and I went to Maine for our family vacation and stayed here. I would absolutely recommend coming to this campground!! The employees are very nice and friendly!! My 3 brothers and my niece had a great time and enjoyed the activities and the walk to the ocean to view it!! The bathrooms are very clean I like that they are cleaned twice a day and I love the fact that they have a handicap bathe room as my younger brother has cerebal palsy. I will definitely be camping here again!!!

Yelp
This campground is amazing! Clean, well run, amazing views. We camped here last September in our teeny teardrop. This most recent excursion was the inaugural trip in Zelda the Zion Warrior. We cooked, we drank, we had a fabulous time, despite the cold, rainy weather. Great showers, and the only thing wrong was that the firewood was too damp to burn. We will be back!

Yelp
Wonderful campground! Amazing views, very clean . Staff and owners are so helpful and very nice. Great jam sessions and activities.

Yelp
came for the kayak rentals, stayed for the goats!! incredibly helpful + friendly staff. stopping in here wound up being our favorite activity on our jaunt up to castine. highly recommend!

Yelp
Fantastic campground which was way better than expected! Steve and Astrig are extremely inviting and helpful upon arrival and helping setup the camper on W/E. After exploring a bit and seeing all the events and amenities the grounds offered we were sold on the first day. Concerts, fresh gardens, woodfire pizza night, large kids playground, kayak rentals, camp store, on site laundry, beaches, fresh honey and more. This campground offers everything, highly recommend!

Yelp
We stayed at Searsport Shores for a long weekend in October and it couldn't have been better. The campsites are immaculate and many have a view of the bay. Steve and Astrig were super nice and made us feel right at home. It was pretty quiet the weekend we were there but in the summer it looks like there is tons of stuff to do. The trails are beautiful and great for taking a leisurely walk after lunch or with the dog. The sheep and goats are wandering around and will come right up to you and let you pat them. We live only 10 minutes away but we really felt like we were on vacation. Cant wait to go back next year!

Yelp
If you have dogs avoid this place!!!! I called to see if they had availability and could accommodate a rig our size. The lady who answered the phone was a complete jerk! She sounded like I was somehow inconveniencing her and had a complete attitude. She asked if we had pets. I informed her we had a dog. She stated that it was against the rules to leave our dog INSIDE the camper unattended if you leave the campground. I informed her that our dog was an 11 year old Great Dane that slept 22 hours a day and never barks and I don't know if we can bring her everywhere we go for a week. Her response was " Well I guess this isn't the campground for you". Then she hung up on me. We have recently sold everything we own and became a full time RV family and are traveling the county with our kids for 8 months. We have yet to find anyone who treated us as poorly as this women! No wonder this is the only campground with availability. Good luck filling you empty spots and with your business plan. I was planning on staying 10 days.

Yelp
We stayed here for several days in July 2017 and loved our site. This campground is family owned and each staff member is experienced and helpful to make your camping experience enjoyable. We were greeted and escorted to our lot which was so helpful as we are newbies this year with our RV. Lots to do and see at this campground. Astrigs suggestions for things to do in the area on their website was extremely helpful. The campground is nicely located close to several communities, Belfast, Camden, Islesboro island and an hour south of Bar Harbor. We enjoyed spectacular sunrises over Penobscot Bay, fresh seafood from local restaurants and hearing the musicians jam on a nightly basis. The Saturday night lobster Bake is delicious and a great experience meeting the other campers that are at the park.

Yelp
I'm not much of a writer, but I must comment on this treasure. A truly beautiful B&B and welcoming owner, who's husband is a marvelous chef. Our breakfast was 4 star. The grounds are lovely for a stroll down to the shore. I'm not taking off for not having an elevator because that would have detracted from this beautiful building and it only impacted me because I am old and creaky

Yelp
Wonderful campground for all types of campers from motor homes to tent camping to their own rental campers they have accommodations for everyone. The owners are great and love what they do. Make sure you pay a visit to "The Studio" for some fun family arts and crafts time.

Rich B.

Yelp
Quiet campground , we did the Saturday lobster bake dinner. Surf & turf = 1-1/2 pound lobster , mussels, clams, corn on Cobb. 16 oz steak, potato, onion, home baked dinner rolls, a seaweed goolosh^ as starter and finished off with baked peach/raspberry cobbler from Dutch Oven & topped with vanilla bean ice cream all this for $75/per person. Lobster was amazing as well as everything else. Not a bad thing to say. Very friendly owners & staff. Only stayed one night.

Yelp
Stayed for 5 nights in lot #5 on the water. Beautiful view. Everyone was friendly, the owners were great.

Yelp
We love this campground. We come back every year for my boyfriends birthday. It is right on the ocean and you can bring well behaved dogs. What we also love about this campground is they have a game room connected to their check in area. When we went camping it rained 2 out of the 3 days we were there, and it was very cold. We went to the game room and played ping pong, pictionary and multiple other games. They also have a fireplace in the game room to warm up. This campground has hot showers, working bathrooms, and washers/dryers. We will come back every year to stay right on the ocean and have a nice experience. Also, the owners are very nice. The one thing I would note is they don't have bathrooms near the tent campsites that are farther in, (they do get a porta potty towards the beginning of July for the season). For someone that needs to use the bathroom frequently this can be a pain. Also, most if not all of the ocean tent sites are walk in only, so you need to use one of their carts to bring all of your stuff to the campsites. This could be troublesome for some people, but we enjoy it because that means less people will be near our campsite.

Jessica L.

Yelp
Great customer service and beautiful ocean front camp tent sites! They have kayaks and some fun events during your stay! In my opinion, a little on the expensive side but we called and they had an opening for that night.

Yelp
It seems the proprietors didn't like my review so they created another Yelp business. http://www.yelp.com/biz/searsport-shores-ocean-campground-belfast The campground is really a nice place to stay with lot of amenities. However, we found the staff to be rather rude. It's a campground where everyone is in bed by 9:30pm and if you want to stay up later and sit around the campfire, they frown upon this. We were treated rather rudely by the staff simply because we arrived at 9pm and had to set up our tent at 9:30pm. Some of our friends were stuck in traffic the same night and wouldn't get there until 9:45pm, and they told us that if they arrive later than 9pm they would not be allowed to stay there, even though we had made a reservation with them. The showers are busy and the water in them is generally cold. It's a shame they can't get better water heaters to maintain at least a lukewarm temperature in the shower. When in Maine, I'd recommend passing on this campground---there are others that feature a more friendly staff and much better parking, showers, and friendlier policies.

Yelp
I have stayed at Searsport Shores twice. Both times at the same site (16). I am a pretty experienced camper with average expectations for campgrounds. I greatly respect places that are true to their advertising, and Searsport Shores is a winner. I found Astrig incredibly accommodating and kind. I found the rest of the staff to be helpful, industrious and funny. As for the campsites, the ocean front ones are fabulous (17 is particularly private and lovely). I love that there are couples and family sections, with noise being of great importance for those campers who don't want every night to be a full blown Bacchanalia. I have had lovely experiences both times, however the second time was a bit rainy. No one is at fault for the rain, but the site gets and stays pretty soggy if it gets serious rain. Just prepare accordingly. Finally, in response to the first review and how it was handled - I think that the staff are very straightforward about rules and expectations. They are not at fault for campers delays, problems, or late night party preferences. If you want that, go to a state park. Also, we have camped up and down the coast of Maine for years. This is, by far, one of the nicest, cleanest, and truest to the online description as we've found. It disappointed me a bit that there are two sites listed here that are obviously the same campground. I think that every place gets a bad review eventually and that shutting that down defeats the purpose of Yelp. Not a cool move, in my opinion. But, I also have no idea how hard it must be to run a nice, clean and competitive campground.

Yelp
This campground is awesome! So much to do around this location. The artist in residency program is fantastic! We stayed nine nights with our 7 year old and wish we could have stay more!

Yelp
Our October trip to Maine was incredible. The owner of the campground was fantastic. She really was concerned for our stay and went out of her way to lead us the best local attractions and restaurants in the area. Because we didn't tow a car this trip she even called ahead for parking of our Motorhome. Her networking with local businesses made our adventure possible. Many thanks!

Patrick G.

Yelp
Cant say enough amazing things about this place. Felt at home the second we arrived. Staff are the friendliest, kindest people and will make sure everything is perfect during your stay here. The facilities are clean and free hot showers were a pleasant surprise. The cherry on top was being able to see Atlantic white sided dolphins swimming right in front of our campsite. I cant wait to come back to this amazing place. Thank you so much for everything.

Michelle W.

Yelp
I cant say enough great things about this campground. This campground quickly became our favorite. The lovely owners, Astrig and Steve, have thought of everything from flowers in the bathroom to Saturday lobster bakes. Its a very family oriented place, but perfect for couples as well. They do a great job of creating a community, even with people coming in and out. There is none of the common campground hoopla- no obnoxious people, no vandalism, no noise, no trash. The people who stay here are all invested in keeping it a lovely place that everyone wants to come back to. The sites are meticulous, they have an organic garden your'e welcome to peruse (and steal ideas, I did!), goats and sheep, a beautiful dog run. I even took an awesome pottery class from the weeks resident artist with my daughter. Really, just amazing and restorative. And I havent even mentioned the stunning waterfront location! Truthfully the best part for me was to watch my 11 year old son be a boy. He didnt ask for the iPad, didnt turn on the TV. He took the Walkie Talkie in the morning, and came back at night muddy, with leaves in his hair, sand in his shoes and a HUGE smile on his face. That is priceless. Go! You wont be sorry. We are already booking for our next visit.

Paul V.

Yelp
I give it a mixed review. Great campground with a ton of amenities: a great lodge with a pool table, ping pong, and a great deck to sit and watch the rain. Our campsite (#16) was beautiful, with a great view of the water. But, when it rained, the entire site went underwater. From the fire pit to the picnic table to our tent. A giant bog. It rained for 3 days of our 7 day visit and trudging around that site was not fun at all. We ended up taking a break from the site and staying in a hotel one night to dry out. Maybe with a different site, I might go back.

Logan S.

Yelp
One of the nicest we've been to..if not *the* nicest. Beautifully maintained grounds, beach warm clear water for swimming..if you can believe it in Maine. FREE showers, FREE hot fudge sundaes, awesome artist in residence, we learned a LOT about cooking with fire from Paula Marcoux. Grassy campsites. Worth the extra hour of driving. One caveat, the cell phone service and wifi were spotty. I think the weather (remnants of hurricane Arthur) may have had an effect on their wifi, but just be aware your mobile phone may not behave as well as you hope. They do insist that you buy wood on site, and not down the street from the little wood stand..again the owners are very environmentally conscious so it's understandable that they want to know the provenance of all wood coming in.

Lydia R.

Yelp
We stayed an extra night here because it was so awesome. We pitched our tent overlooking the ocean. Beautiful to fall asleep to the sound of ocean water. All of the facilities were clean & stocked - flushing toilets to boot. There was a "hang out" room with games, toys, a comp, & all kinds of other things to do. Outside there is a dog park & a garden that you can eat from. And as far a service goes - excellent! It's a family thing & they are so kind & humble. The best campsite ever!

Stew B.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here for 5 days and were very impressed with the staff who were always willing to answer questions or deliver firewood to your site and everything was clean. The washrooms and laundry were bright and cheery and the grounds were well maintained with many gardens and works of art throughout the park. This is not a large camoground which makes for a more friendly experience. The sites were a level and a good size. We were camped on an oceanside site and loved watching the different levels of the tide with easy access for kayakers. I would recommend this to anyone who wanted to get away from it all and enjoy a peaceful enviroment where you can usually find an aritst in residence and at certain times you can take an art or craft lesson. We stayed in our 33' Monaco motorhome.

ANNIE D.

Yelp
Looked pretty funky and interesting but $88 for a campsite?????! Just to sleep for the night? Drove down the road and found a nice room for $1 more

Yelp
Beautiful location, Buena vista, hot showers, well maintained, friendly.
