I could've stayed in Yarmouth for free in my family's cottage, but I decided instead to stay at Seaside cottages, which is right on the beach. I'm glad with the decision I made. They are a group of 40-odd cottages, many of which are connected side-to-side allowing families to rent adjoining cottages. There seems to have been a lot of attention paid to the layout of the cottages. There are no cars on their side of the street. You have to park on the other side of the street and walk your stuff over onto the grounds. And what lushly landscaped grounds they are. There's no pavement, so you'll be walking on grass to get to your room. The cottages range from studios to 2BR. We booked very late to get a cottage in June (I called in March) so I could only get one cottages one night, and a different cottage the second night. It was so worth it. Some by the beach have an ocean view.
Each cottage is a little different from the next. For instance, the bathroom in 10A was, erm, rustic. But 39's bathroom was totally new and redone. Every cottage has a few Adirondack chairs in front of it, meaning you can sit in the sun whenever you want. They have a "private" beach, but to be honest anybody can walk in from the public beach next door. Not that it's a problem. In late June, it was still pretty quiet. The staff in the office were very accomodating when we had to switch rooms, and when my car got a flat tire. You can rent by the night or by the week.
Warning - These cottages book VERY far in advance. I mean, I thought I've seen some advance bookings at other places, but this place was reserving rooms for Summer 2009 in March 2008. So book early!
