Seaside Museum & Historical Society

A nice place to stop and learn about the history of Seaside with a restored beach cottage next door. The exhibits take you through the events and places that made Seaside a great beach destination. The Lewis & Clark Expedition Exhibit tells you about the effort to identify the site of the salt works in Seaside. The other exhibits include the Seaside Signal Newspaper Linotype machine, the 1912 fire that burned through the town, the development of the Prom, old hotels, and much more. The Butterfield Cottage tour shows you the rooms as they were used in a boarding house with a number of vintage exhibits and items. Located on Necanium Drive across from the river and near Broadway. Admission is free and donations are suggested. One of the places to stop and learn about the development of Seaside as a beach destination and to take a tour of an old beach cottage.

We love it, the lady working was wonderful and shared alot of good info! Answered all our questions cheerfully. Really enjoyed the museum. We left a nice donation for it to continue.

What a great museum of local history. Very welcoming and informative.

Very interesting facts and the host of the museum was very kind. He even found records of a cousin-in-law's ancestor who helped with the first lumber mill and was in the city counsel.

Loved the display of history life on the area. Well kept and nicely presented, with friendly local that answered questions and took is to tour the attacked historic cottage. Revoked to visit.

We loved the museum and it was pretty neat there too one think for sure we love the restaurant there too

What a great museum and full of Seaside History. We were pleasantly surprised and impressed, the docents were knowledgeable and very friendly. Donations accepted but not required

Our experience at the Seaside Museum and Historical Society was delightful. We were met by friendly people who answered all our questions . The museum has had a recent facelift and is very informative. It was fun to learn the history of Seaside and to experience it today. We recommend a visit .

This museum is pretty good. Lots to read. The lady that was working was very polite but could not answer a lot of our questions. The Butterfield Cottage is now at the museum and is free to look at with paid admission to the museum. It's a small little house that is decorated to the period. The cottage has been remodeled. The price of the museum is $3 a person with smaller children free.

Rude staff. We arrived in seaside after hours of driving. I had to use the restroom and we couldn't check into our hotel yet. We drove down to the museum and dedicated we could spend some time there while waiting to check into our hotel. I asked to use the restroom - intending to be a paying customer. The man at the front desk was incredibly snarky and told me I wasn't allowed to and didn't help me with where the closest one would be. We were planning on paying to see the museum but decided not to after his poor attitude.
