Season Live Seafood (Pulau Ubin): Decent Meal with a View, but Food Lacks Punch 3 out of 5 stars
Ratings:
• Food: 3/5 (Bland flavors; lacked depth and punch; portion sizes inconsistent)
• Service: 3/5 (Acceptable; nothing exceptional, but nothing negative either)
• Ambiance: 4/5 (Nice ocean view; convenient location; good for large groups)
• Overall: 3/5
My friends and I, along with Donkey, stopped by Season Live Seafood on Pulau Ubin after a long cycling trip. It was conveniently located, one of the few restaurants with space available, and the fact that they served beer was a lifesaver after our ride. (Some friends preferred to grab their drinks from the Malay store nearby, though.)
We ordered about a dozen dishes (see attached photo), totaling $193. While the fried rice and hor fun were reasonably sized for the large portions we ordered, most of the other dishes felt small. Honestly, the food was quite bland. Nothing was terrible, but the flavors lacked the depth and punch we were hoping for.
Despite the less than stellar food, we had a fantastic time thanks to the great company and the refreshing beers. The service was acceptable nothing exceptional, but nothing negative either. Considering the limited dining options on Pulau Ubin, and the fact that other places were packed, Season Live Seafood served a decent meal with a nice ocean view. It's a good option for convenience and location, but don't expect culinary fireworks.
