"Seaworthy is a classy (but not pretentious) oyster bar where I enjoyed a refined seafood-focused experience." - Matthew Kepnes

I had Kevin survey a 1994 Catalina 34 I was considering, and he was excellent from start to finish. He was professional, extremely thorough, and clearly experienced with sailboats and the survey process. The report was well-organized, detailed, and included clear photos and explanations that made it easy to understand the boat’s overall condition. He also took the time to walk me through his findings, explain what was expected wear vs. what might need attention, and offered thoughtful guidance that helped during price negotiations. He even brought a moisture meter to inspect the deck, which uncovered hidden water intrusion—ultimately saving me future headaches and around $1,500 in repairs. His appraisal made securing insurance straightforward, and he was responsive and helpful with follow-up questions even after the survey was complete. Highly recommend Kevin if you want someone who goes above and beyond and really knows their stuff

I called Kevin Nicholson of Seaworthy for an insurance survey because he was recommended by my dock neighbor. His customer service is prompt, considerate and kind. Our initial conversation about the different types of surveys was very informative (yes there are different kinds of marine surveys - didn't know that) and he was free with his advice for insurance but also boat maintenance. Kevin has a long history of boating and a wealth of knowledge that he applies to his surveys and is very thorough with the inspection. He came to the boat, on time, and explained his steps throughout the survey. I got to "pick his brain" on different aspects of my boat that would benefit the overall value of the vessel. He took the time to explain and his attention to detail was also evident in the official survey document I received (not overly wordy, not overly nitpicky - just accurate and honest). I have recommended Kevin to other boaters and would use his services if I was going to purchase a boat in the future. Highly recommend! Call him today!

I highly recommend Seaworthy Marine Survey when needing a survey on your boat. I got a letter from my boat insurer that I could not renew my marine policy without a recent survey. I was leaving in 4 days on my boat and wouldn’t be back for three months. I called Kevin Nicholson of Seaworthy and he was able to get me in his busy schedule. I had never used Seaworthy before so didn’t know what to expect. He showed up on time looking neat and professional. The report I received was by far the most professional I have ever seen. His attention to details with photos were outstanding. He rates which items need fixing right away and which should be watched for the future. His research and analysis of the boats value was a pleasant surprise. If you want a surveyor that is easy to work with very thorough but fair I highly recommend Kevin Nicholson of Seaworthy.

Seaworthy, Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors. Their work speaks for itself. So much so I hired them a second time for a different yacht. Let me explain. Seaworthy, Kevin Nicholson to be exact was a referral on a list of several surveyors. I did my homework and was quite impressed with his bio and company. I called and spoke with him on the phone, asked questions and felt confident they would do their due diligence to provide me with a solid survey and appraisal of the yacht. Inspection day, Kevin was very professional, clean cut, and courteous. He methodically investigated all the nooks and crannies, continuously impressing me with his level of knowledge. He would take the time to point out items and explain to me the level of safety or degree of repairs that would be required. He would reference the American Boat & Yacht Association (ABYC) and US Coast Gard requirements. He was candid and articulate about explaining the findings. What Kevin didn’t know at the time was I am a mechanic, and I had already done my own walkthrough not being too intrusive but had a good idea what I was looking at. What he found matched what I found in my eyes showing his integrity and knowledge was legitimate not feeding me a line of BS. I’ve owned small lake water boats but never a yacht. I had a lot of questions, and I asked them. He indulged them all, giving me advice on how to read the survey and make a fair, equitable offer. How to approach the broker and seller with my concerns and concessions. Honestly, I feel Kevin went above and beyond in all aspects of his profession. Would I recommend Seaworthy to others, absolutely! Don’t just take my word. Go on their website. Read their credentials. Look at their sample surveys and appraisals. My opinion you will be very satisfied with the results.

Best surveyor I've ever worked with, by a very large clip. He located an issue that most surveyors I've had would never have found - I know this for a fact, because they didn't have the instruments to identify the issues he did. Next level. He saved me tens of thousands of dollars in potential after purchase repairs. Kevin is very professional, exacting, and understands all the systems in great detail. He is working for you the buyer. That being said, he is level headed and really wants a successful outcome. He approaches market value from a logical, and defendable, fact based approach rather than the usual finger in the wind, you'll get from others. In addition, he spent the time it takes to go through every detail, document, and also BLUEPRINT out systems in the survey. Locating all the plumbing and how they tie into the boat, which is significant on a large vessel with dozens of seacocks and valves. His followup and followthrough is second to none, and I can't imagine buying my next boat without him vetting it. THANK YOU!!!!

I was considering the purchase of a used 72’ Ocean Alexander and I needed a marine survey and valuation done. I started calling around and eventually called Seaworthy Marine Services. When I first talked with Keven from Seaworthy on the phone, I knew he was the right person. He was very knowledgeable and informative, he took the time to explain the entire process, he addressed all my questions and concerns, he even walked me through his sample reports on his website that show the details of his reports. We decided to schedule 2 separate days due to the size of the boat and local logistics. I was fortunate to be there when Keven showed up to inspect the boat He had done some research, and his information was current and up to date. He was organized and very professional. I was impressed with his efforts, the level of detail, and the overall scope of information that he gathered. On the second day we did the sea trials and the haul out inspection. Kevin worked diligently on both days documenting his findings and creating his report. He spent additional time on the computer working late into the night doing market analysis searching for comparable sales and related information Kevin is an accredited Master Marine Surveyor with USPAP and ABYC certificates, and the first report titled The Conditions and Valuation Report of a Marine Survey for Pre-Purchase of the Vessel … shows it. The report was organized and easy to follow. It was very detailed and thorough, and most of the findings along with the related details and recommendations also included clear pictures with circles and arrows. When I finished reading the 75-page report, I felt like I knew the boat inside and out. It included vessel documentation, safety conditions, and the condition of all the systems and their components. The report also included an overall statement of condition, market analysis, the fair market value and the BUC replacement value. The second report titled The Recommendations and Findings Report was 29 pages. It was also very professional looking, organized, and easy to follow. All safety related findings were listed first, Items requiring Timely Attention were listed second and the general observations and notable items came last. I felt very confident with these two reports, and they played a key factor in my overall decision-making process. I was so impressed with Kevin that I would consider purchasing a boat sight unseen based on one of Kevin's Marine Survey reports. If you are seriously considering the purchase of a boat and need a detailed and accurate marine survey, I would highly recommend you talk with Kevin Nicholson at Seaworthy Marine Services. Bruce R
