"Housed in a repurposed old library that still honors its past, Second Chapter Brewing functions as a community taproom and event space where I can try a variety of in-house beers—seasonal and non-alcoholic options included—and attend 'sip and stitch' nights and other community events." - Angela Lian Angela Lian Angela Lian was the editorial intern at Travel + Leisure. Stayed here as part of Harvest Host and what a great place. We were met my Lisa the co-owner who made us feel right at home. We travel throughout the U.S. and visit a lot of breweries and this one just made our top 5 favs. They have a great selection of beers that are all on point. What a great addition to Ogallala. We really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the sculptures, historical markers, and murals.

Great brewery! The pickle beer brought us here and I loved the Trashy Romance! This brewery is set in a renovated Library! Great service & great beer! We’ll visit again!

Tasty beer for sure, but what really impresses is the welcoming friendly faces of the owner and staff. Catch them doing bingo music or other fun evening events that pack the house, adding laughter to the suds. Cheers from new fans all the way from North Caroline’ 🍻

Second Chapter is an unique (and wonderful) experience! A former library, its a gorgeous building on a pleasant, tree-shaded corner. Whether you sample their beer inside or outside, I highly recommend this spot. Owned by a local couple, you are likely to get a personal greeting from them and their own insights into their hometown brews. There are yummy snacks available, and if you time it right, music bingo or a food truck! Don't miss it!

Cool brew house in Ogallala…old library and public house. Just passing thru town on the way home to CO and stopped in. Definitely check out the Czeched Out dark lager. Phenomenal! Great selection and great vibe

If you drive by Ogallala and don’t stop here, you have done yourself a great disservice. It’s an awesome place in a town where you wouldn’t expect to find something like this. My wife and I have stopped at breweries all across this great nation (which may qualify us as experts at this point) so I feel confident in saying that the beer here is top-notch! Yeah, the atmosphere is fantastic and unique, and the staff are witty, smart, informed and wonderful, but the beer!!!! We would have loved to have spent more time here, but an encroaching Great Plains thunderstorm was rolling in on us from the west and we needed to stay ahead of it on our trek eastward. We will be back!!!

Yelp
We tried a flight while we waited for food from the food truck. It was really good! The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was perfect. The server let us know that this used to be an old library that was converted into a brewery.

Yelp
While passing through and camping in Ogallala, NE, we checked out this nice brewery (it's what we do!). Great selection of delicious beers, and we loved the staff. Try the Saison and the Porter. Loved 'em!

Yelp
Wow! Wow! Wow! Second Chapter Brewing, housed in a renovated and repurposed city library building, is the real deal. Opening in January of 2023, my first visit has me looking for excuses to schedule a return trip. Cassie, the knowledgeable, helpful, patient and sweet server shared drink recommendations suggesting the "trashy romance" cider for me and the "Ogalager" for my husband after letting him sample her two recommendations. I liked the sugar and cinnamon lipped "trashy romance" as well as I liked my last romance novel--tore through it quickly and checked out a four pack for later consumption. My husband's "Ogalager" took him out of his comfort zone with a bolder taste but he also purchased a few cans to take home. Second Chapter uses the library theme in their brew names, serves flights in card catalog drawers, and uses books, library tables and lighting that strikes an image of your local Carnegie library. According to our new best friend, Cassie, the owners, have a family history in the brewing industry and consider themselves the second chapter of the family's brewing story. A relative operated an early century brewery in Hastings and another in San Francisco if my memory serves me correctly. Food may be brought in although a food truck is on property and SCB also offers a light menu. These infrequent bar and brewery patrons shut the place down, although it should be noted that they close at 9:00 pm on Thursdays. If anyone asks we were consuming a "trashy romance" novel at the library.

Yelp
Visited as we were passing through on a trip and we loved this place! We happened to stop during a country music bingo night and had a great time. Beer and cider were delicious, staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely stop by again if we have a chance

Yelp
When I visit a brewery in a small town, I have low expectations. Second Chapter Brewing exceeded them impressively. I ordered a flight, and each beer was both individual and delicious. The food I tried was also good. I don't go through Ogallala often, but Second Chapter is definitely on my list for a return visit.

Yelp
This place is horrible. Beer is ok but service is terrible and the kids running around, disrupting the place is awful. It's a brewery people! It's for adults, not your unruly kids.

Yelp
Visit this brewery. We were traveling through and noticed the spot. Admittedly, expectations were not high, but the beer was quality. After trying craft beer around the country, I was truly impressed by the craftsmanship in the middle of western Nebraska. Not an elite brewery necessarily, and for that reason I give it four stars, but absolutely worth a stop. Service was very friendly.

Yelp
Love this place! We're frequent visitors to the area and finally got to check this brewery out. Love the decor and the vibe. The owners really worked to carry the library theme through the place. We loved all the beers and the Trashy Romance hard seltzer. Very clean and the staff was friendly. Great time! Stop in if you're traveling through or visiting McConnaughy!

Yelp
Super friendly staff. Very, very tasty brews. I adore the Apple cider with a cinnamon sugar rim. Tastes like apple pie! Yum!
