The staff and location is really why you come here. The food and drinks are cheap and definitely not 5 star resort quality. The quality varied but overall was pretty bad food which was disappointing. I bet Hyatt ships everything in from the US because it does not taste like local quality cuisine. They also use this awful sweetener for their cocktails which just tastes like fake sugar and full of preservatives. Hard to have certain cocktails without proper simple syrup so I stuck to aperol spritz the whole time which also wasn't that great because the quality of sparking wine was also pretty bad. They could really use a decent prosecco, especially for the preferred members which are supposed to recieve "preimum" alcohol. Every member of the staff was spectacular though and very helpful and the only reason Id consider coming back. I wish I could remember all of their names but Carlos and Efrain (I think his name was) were really sweet and helpful bartenders. Housekeeping was great and the pools and ocean are phenomenal. Maybe next time I'll find good restaurants outside of the resort

The location is beautiful, and the staff are among the most friendly and helpful people we have met on our travels. Unfortunately, we discovered that the during the summer months, the ocean is extremely rough with strong currents and an undertow. As a result, we were unable to do much snorkeling near the property. In general, the food was excellent.

This is not a 5 star resort, it deserves to be a 2 star, maybe 3. Let’s start with the positives: The staff are amazing. We came across a good few memorable characters that made the trip almost worth it. Very friendly personable and even entertaining at times. The pool is the biggest we’ve ever been. If you get up early eg 7am you can have the whole thing to yourself and it’s a very rich enjoyable experience. The only problem is there were drinks from the night before on the poolside and the staff didn’t bother clean it up. The view from our room was incredible, overlooking the pool and the ocean. The beach is beautiful, although it can be risky to swim, but some areas are safer than others, there is a lifeguard on watch so that gives some peace of mind. The negatives: The overall decor and aesthetic needs an update, it seems outdated and a bit boring The room has a bed that is too soft that you feel like you sink into and slide off of and the pillows are too soft also. The bathtub was a horrible experience because what looked and smelled like poop 💩 came out of the tap. We assume this is why they left incense by the bathtub, as we’ve never seen this before. We are foodies and we don’t drink alcohol, so we were really banking on the food being good, but unfortunately we were disappointed overall. The breakfast buffet had little options that were good. The only think we liked was the salmon and cream cheese and a hard boiled egg and the chilaquiles wasnt too bad. Rate it 4/10 The Asian restaurant was one of the worst restaurants we’ve ever eaten at ever. We tried one bite of the food but we had to leave because it was so bad. Rate it 0/10 The French restaurant wouldn’t allow us to eat inside as men must wear collared shirts, I was wearing a t shirt, and the food was below average. It seems bizarre that a restaurant that serves poor quality food would have a strict dress code in a tropical climate. They should be more concerned with getting the food right rather than enforcing the dress code. But don’t worry the clothing shop in the hotel sells shirts, if I were to guess, at a premium price! The Italian restaurant was a 4/10 also Castaways was a 5/10 Mexican restaurant was the best out of them all. Rate it 7/10 . The highlight was the corn soup! That was amazing! It’s important to note that the restaurants are not all open on the same day, about 2 or 3 are open in the evening and they take turns being open.

My wife and I liked this resort. All the food we tried was good. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, to include the lifesaver at the beatch. The entertainment was good and had a variety of things to do. I'm comparison to other resorts we've been to, this one is more on the calm side, more to relax it seemed. They do try to sell you on their vacation club but if you let them know you are not interested, they are not pushy. Overall good and would return given the opportunity. It could use some repairs here and there but nothing bad.

As a loyal Secrets guest, I've always equated the brand with a higher experience than most premium all-inclusives. Unfortunately, Secrets Huatulco shattered that illusion. The neglect was obvious in the public areas. The main pool was missing large patches of tiles, looking cheap and run-down. The main elevator leaked constantly, and its filthy glass ruined what should have been a stunning view of one of the most spectacular of the famous Huatulco bays. Our room was no better. The wood furniture was in dismal condition and the large mirror was damaged to a point I've never seen in a hotel before. The bathtub was disgusting; turning on the jets filled the tub with stinky water and dozens of insects (we have the video). And of course, in a classic display of five-star logic, the see-through toilet door didn't even close all the way. The general atmosphere and hygiene were just as bad. Poolside was a free-for-all: one guest smoked and ashed in the pool while another blasted a personal speaker, with zero staff intervention. The buffet's hygiene was worse, with flies crawling over the bread. Unsurprisingly, I got a stomach infection—and we only ate at the resort. To top it off, none of the bars had a drink menu. The irony? They were filming a cocktail promo, but when I ordered the drink being featured, I got something completely different. This was a major disappointment and not the luxury experience we paid for.

Great Location on the beach, there is a good variety of restaurants, we found sitting under the grass cabanas on the beach the best, as we enjoyed the ocean view and sounds more than sitting around the pools. The Ocean is also recommended over the pools. We found the food at the barbecue in the central courtyard they had on our arrival, as just OK. The special buffet poolside was always good. The restaurants were also always good. Staff were extremely polite and helpful. Be sure to carry lots of 20 peso bills (= 1.40 Cdn or 1.00 Usd); the staff appreciate the recognition of their great service. They all work hard and likely make about $20 a day in wages, which is not much. Taxi rides into town to shop were always 120 pesos (8.50 CDN), regardless of where you were going in town. The shopping was also better there as opposed to going to the marketplace in the resort, which was way overpriced, and the town is very friendly. Also, be sure to bring beach shoes as the sand on the beach can get very hot. We will be back...

I’m originally from Jordan and came here with my wife, whose family lives nearby. A few hours ago, we were still unsure which resort to choose for our vacation, but we decided to give this one a try. Honestly, it exceeded all our expectations. Everything here is on point. We got a room with a beautiful view and not just one, but two jacuzzis — one inside and one outside. Food and drinks are available 24/7, and if you prefer, you can even have everything delivered straight to your room. The meals and beverages are absolutely delicious. The resort offers a wide range of activities like archery, pickleball, cooking classes, kayaking, live shows, and much more. What stood out the most to me was the customer service. Everyone here welcomed us so warmly. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. Even the other guests were relaxed and respectful, which made it a peaceful place to unwind. For me, customer service is the most important thing when it comes to hospitality, and this resort got it right. Even if there were small things to overlook, the excellent service made it all more than worth it. They truly earned my recommendation. I highly suggest staying here, and their prices are very reasonable too.

Google
The hotel staff were very friendly and the food and drinks were good. there was loud music that was playing outside almost every night that could be heard from our room. It played until after midnight and we had to call to complain about the loudness. The rooms were outdated and so was the pool area and the gym. Probably wouldn’t go back because the value for the money wasn’t worth it in my opinion.

Yelp
Rooms are beautiful and the beach is beautiful. That's pretty much where the positives end. Two of the restaurants were closed on the day I went as was one of the bars. For lunch your only options are the buffet and the beach restaurant. The beach restaurant oddly had the best food imo and that's saying something bc it wasn't that good. I'm well aware resorts aren't exactly renowned for their culinary prowess but this was BAD. The iberostar resorts blow this place out of the water. Service was odd, people were friendly but one of the staff members literally tried to get me to book his airbnb? Like unprompted lol. Can't imagine the hotel would be thrilled if they knew he was doing that. I would not stay here again or recommend it. Huatulco is stunning though.

Yelp
Adults only! I stayed here for 3 nights and was really impressed with the all-inclusive food and drink, the service and the property. The resort is very well maintained and offers a lot of activities, such as archery and water aerobics, if that's your thing. The air conditioning and wifi work great in the rooms. The French restaurant is by far the best among its Italian, Mexican and Asian competition. A nice escape from the typical tourist traps of Cabo and Cancun. About a 20 minute drive to/from the airport. Inquire about shuttle services offered by the resort to avoid a long line for a taxi upon landing.

Yelp
The Secret to Secrets Huatulco is not to stay at Secrets Huatulco". The resort is not a 5 Star as the websites state. It's maybe a 3 Star as it is outdated. After you check in they immediately try amd sell you time share. We learned later from staff that this is a time share resort. So rude!! Once you start looking into the property you learn that is outdated and needs TLC. The pools- decks landscaping have not been updated since built. The gym is a joke for a resort like this. The Spa pool looks good but you must pay extra to use that pool. Some of the staff try hard but others are just there working. The food is OK at best. It looks like Huatulco was a up and coming tourists destination. I believe the lack of tourists and the pandemic did a number on this town. Travel elsewhere until things get better here.

Kim L.

Yelp
Old dirty outdated musty rooms , food is blah and if you complain no one cares you will not be given a refund and they will not change you to a different room. The only good thing about this hotel is the view thats it, save your money and go elsewhere. I wont be back.

Yelp
Terrible. I never thought I was going to say something like this about my México. I promised to my wife that she was going to experience the real México in Oaxaca state. We looked for an all inclusive resort just to forget about any inconvenience of transportation, food, drinks, entertainment and etc. She choose Secrets in Conejos bay Huatulco. Well, the place is not longer what it used to be, at least seems like. For pictures you can see other reviews and I support all of them. Is a beautiful place looking at the nature side. The service was ok. Standard. We paid a big price once we took the decision to hear the talking about buying a membership in a club with the benefits of good price for a fantastic chance to use the hotels of Hyatt. That waste of time, they offer some time and service at their spa. They never told us that was not aplicable for us because my wife was pregnant even though we stated that was the reason for us be there. We left the place defending ourselves after feeling humiliated. Is not exactly something an American citizen will accept anywhere in the world. Terrible.

Yelp
Not what it used to be. Service, food, and amenities are fine but not what it was when we were last there. Room service is generally very slow, usually 45 to 50 mins for anything. Rooms are clean but showing wear as is the overall resort. Service is generally good but seems like they are in need of more staff. Was somewhat disappointed for the price point.

Yelp
The view is the best part of the resort. It is amazing. The staff is next. After that it gets disappointing quick. To start, the "preferred club" bar is a small converted office. The BEST bourbon they offer is Jim Beam. The BEST tequila they have is Don Julio Anejo which is fine, but they run out. It's not conveniently located. The "amenities upgrade" for preferred club in your room is a pint of Don Ramon repisado and a packet of M&Ms on the 1st night. After that you have to hunt them down. I was told they had no more tequila for the rooms. Maids skipped our room 2 days even after I spoke to the maid the second day and requested the service. Had to call the desk. We'd been out all day so it was irritating to have to then wait for the service that should have been done. The food is underwhelming with the exception of the special Mexican Independence Day buffet and show. The food was outstanding. We've stayed at several Secrets properties and this was not close to their level. Again, most of the staff is great, but they have some issues to work out to meet the Secrets standards Room service consists of these items. hamburger. Hot dog. Nachos. Club sandwich. That's it.. and it's a min hour wait. Tonight the Sky Bar ran out of 1800 Anejo. It's really a Secrets Wannabe

Yelp
Worst resort I have ever been stuck at. I'm currently counting the days here waiting to go home and I'll tell you all why. The staff, they aren't prepared for chargers in the slightest. Expect that the rooms won't be ready when you arrive, we waited for three and a half hours for our room and then it took the staff 45 minutes to get us our bags. The resort stole our first day and didn't care. Food, the buffet is horrible and extremely limited in options. You have to wait in line for almost anything that is warm which just drags out. They don't have enough cooks making food for the buffet, they just don't. It all has such a serious lack of flavor I left it on the table and ate a small container of Pringle's instead. We visited Bordeaux for dinner last night, lack luster at best. Actually let me just be honest it was a joke. The portions are more for a photo shoot than to sustain human appetites. I ordered tuna as an appetizer and it came out drenched in flavorless fat white goop. The salad was a LITERAL one bite salad, the French onion soup should have been called "melted cheese and bread" because there were three spoons of liquid in the bowl. Let's move on shall we, I then ordered the steak, that was horrible as well. It came with vegetables, let me be specific it came with two small pieces of broccoli and one piece of carrot. The meat was the size of a small children's cheese burger and I finished in in four bites. We've already decided to go into town for our meals because the food isn't even edible. The resort, it's completely outdated! The walls are all stained and marked up, the wooden walls in the rooms are beat to hell! The pools, be sure to set your alarms for 5:30 because if ya go down to the pool after 6:00am it's slim Pickens for seats and you'll probably just have to sit in the grass or on the boiling hot cement, The resort, it's outdated, never been maintained, the walls, the floors, everything is beat up outside the lobby. This has to be the worst vacation I have ever been on and I haven't been here longer than 18 hours. It's pathetic that Hyatt actually puts their name on such a horrible horrible property. Please don't get scammed like we were!!!!!! Buyer be ware!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Poor customer service. Pool was murky and the private pool was dirty as well. Took forever to get a drink and there were never servers so plan on getting all your own drinks and waiting forever. The hotel was at 42% capacity so it wasn't even busy. The chief concierge and concierge we not helpful and straight up lied to me. This is supposed to be all inclusive with great service, unlimited drinks and food. The food was just ok. Completely overpriced and would never come back

Yelp
Secrets Huatulco is an adults only resort in Oaxaca, Mexico. Located 35 minutes away from the airport and pretty isolated. The grounds are well groomed and the buildings are spotlessly clean. They take recycling seriously and there wasn't a spec of garbage anywhere. Just like any tropical location you'll see some local wildlife (iguanas, other small lizards, colibri birds, quite a few hawks/eagles) and if you keep the room door open, they'll come to visit you. :) Watch out for Mexican version of bedbugs - chinches...they can fly (according to locals) and swim here and they love to bite unsuspecting foreigners. :P The food is 2/5, there's variety, but it's very uninspired. I survived on papaya, guacamole, shrimp (during lunch) and occasional burger at the pool grill. The specialty restaurants are a waste of time. I can't even decide which one was worse...No reservations required except for hibachi which I didn't bother with since I've had it numerous times before in other resorts. Hotel staff are very courteous and eager to please. No complaints with service here. Also: Be prepared to experience an earthquake, it's part of the all-inclusive. Free wifi all over the resort. Free porn on TV. Would I recommend this resort to family and friends? Maybe to a frenemy. :)

Yelp
The excellent: the location is tough to beat, you have the Pacific Ocean right in front of the hotel. You can go snorkling, kayak, stand-up paddle or swim with fishes near the rocks. The pools do not feel crowded and are widely distributed. Plus the service is really good, saw some comments regarding the English spoken by the personel, but I did not find anything wrong with it. The good: The food is really good for breakfast and lunch. The best restaurant is Castaway's for lunch and dinner at Tamarindos is a must. The bad: They say that the pool is open until 8pm. But they stop having towels around 6pm, they do not turn on the lights of the pool. Other than that we had a great stay and will definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great all inclusive vacation. We stayed in the Preferred Jr Suite which has a front pool and this was a welcome perk since this had lights until 10pm ;)

Yelp
Our family of 4 really enjoyed our time at this resort. My brother and I are 24 and 22 and we came with our parents. We chose the adults only resorts over Dreams which is for families. We were really happy we did. It was so nice not to have children running around everywhere- I will say the only trade off for that was having some couples being quite handsy in public. The view from our room was beautiful. We got two rooms- one with a king and one with double beds. Each was essentially the same. One issue was that the shower and toilet had glass doors. Clearly a feature intended for couples staying together and not for a brother and sister sharing a room. We made do. The resort was very clean. We loved not having to make reservations for the resort restaurants like many all inclusive will require. We were there during off season (May) and really liked how not crowded the resort was. Unfortunately, the ocean was very rough the week we were there. This meant we could swim very little in the water and were not able to take advantage of the water activities offered by the resort like snorkeling and kayaking. Staff did well with trying to keep activities going in the pools- we had fun playing water volleyball and trying paddle boarding in the pool. We took advantage of room service our first night there when we were too tired to leave the room. It came quickly within 30 mins. The cleaning staff often left little presents in the room like rose petals or treats. I'm not sure if this is what they do for everyone or because we tipped. Tipping is certainly not required but puts a smile on the face of the workers (who are always smiling and friendly anyways). I've stayed with this company once at a Now Jade and will continue to stay with them in the future. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: I recommend bringing your own tumbler for drinks. Plastic glasses are used for everyone and (in my opinion) aren't always cleaned out the best. If you plan to swim or explore the rock area pack water shoes. These also help on the beach because this beach has especially coarse sand.

Yelp
Spent two days here and we had a great time. The all inclusive includes great restaurants and even room service. We also got massages and hydro therapy at the spa. We did get into a time share type meeting which was a bit of a time suck but we knew what we were getting into. Other than that we enjoyed all the amenities and the service and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
This resort was GREAT! We really enjoyed our stay here. The service of the employees was fabulous and the cleanliness was impeccable. The views were phenomenal and the beaches are beautiful. The food was some of the best food I've ever had. My only complaint was that the sand on the beach was a bit rough to walk on and the waves were too strong to swim in when we went in the middle of May. The cleaning staff were great and it was so fun to see all the lizards and iguanas. We would highly recommend this amazing hotel.

Yelp
beautiful location great weather. Check in needs work. You are given a room with no directions. No information on the resort. Next they are not even close to having enough pool or beach chairs. You need to wake up before 5:30am to save a chair. Pool towels are worn out and need new ones but they have more then enough. Food is low quality and taste over a dozen guests we meet are repeat visitors and stated this has been the worst food ever. Alcohol selection has lowered as well. They cater to the Prefered guests because they are time share with am resorts and want to up sell them. They have own restaurant for breakfast at the castaway. Bartenders need lessons on how to make drinks. Staff is the BEsT part of the resort. Friendly hard working go above to try and make you happy. Room Devore needs up dating. Curtains were torn and mended in several areas. We travel a lot and expectEd more from secrets. Disappointed in Food so much that we left the resort to eat dinner. Barefoot grill has good food fast service except for pizza line. 30 min then they run out. Room service food good castaway lunch good. French and Mexican restaurant best meals at the resort.

Andrea S.

Yelp
Beautiful resort with awesome amenities! We enjoyed the pool for hours with the many interactive games and swim up bar. The late lunch at Castaways was amazing; I totally needed someone to carry me down those stairs after the wonderful meal that was had. Looking forward to me next trip to Huatulco to visit here again!

Yelp
I would give our stay a 3.5, but I am rounding down because of their slogan for "all-inclusive luxury" because that's not quite the experience my husband and I had. If you don't speak Spanish, you will have a difficult time communicating with the staff. Some speak English, but there is definitely a language barrier. We booked through Expedia (which we were reminded of about 50x during our stay). This was apparently something that they were not pleased about, but it's their fault because we tried to book on the website but their credit card system didn't work (we tried 4 different credit cards) and, frustrated, we then decided to use Expedia. The staff kept bringing it up every time we wanted to book something. It was slightly annoying. The hotel isn't brand new, but the entrance hall is beautiful, airy and open to let the breeze through. We booked their top tier room and the extra Preferred Package. I'm not sure that it is worth it, you get one mini bottle of Bacardi and some Pringles (this is not a joke). Also, beware because every time you walk in that main hallway people will literally try to sell you stuff. They kept trying to make us do this "sales pitch" and it was awful. We have ZERO interest in being upsold after buying the most expensive, top package. They were very pushy and the total opposite of a luxury experience. Our room was on the bottom floor, had a swim out pool and king size bed. The light switches were placed in very odd places and were very difficult to use (not normal switches) and there was only one outlet in the room. Also, if you're not completely comfortable with your partner, the toilet is in full view behind some glass so there is zero privacy haha. We had a soaking tub and rain shower which was delightful. Now for the food. We discovered that our stay (Labor Day Week) is during their "off season". This means that the restaurants are not all open every night. This was particularly annoying because one of the nights we had to choose between Hibachi and Castaways. The portions they served left a lot to be desired and we'd end up trying to order multiple dishes because when I ordered ravioli (thinking it would be a main dish) I was surprised to find only 2 on the plate. Yes the food was plated elegantly, but if you've been in the sun all day and are hungry, you probably want to eat more than 2 ravioli. Our favorite restaurant was Spice. The Hibachi grill requires reservations days in advance (fair warning!). I think this is because they only have one chef who actually does the cooking. The food was very yummy and the chef was nice and entertaining. Also, there is a restaurant attached that serves a slightly different menu. My husband ordered sushi (thinking we would get the standard 3-5 rolls per order) but they only served 2. It was kind of annoying that they kept restricting the food and not being upfront about portion sizes. The pool bar staff were great and always running around making sure that people were served refreshing drinks. The pool water was warm and inviting and we really loved having the smaller private swim out attached to our room. It's definitely fun to also go to the pool bar and sit in the water and drink a piña colada. Now, the entertainment. It left a LOT to be desired. While I'm aware that my husband and I were the youngest people there (26 & 28), the entertainment was very dated and ended up being unappealing. They had 70s night and a random movie. I was most excited for bingo, but they didn't even have prizes which was very disappointing. Now, the spa. The spa facilities were beautiful and clean. We opted for two 80-minute massages. However, they insist you get there 1.5 hours early to enjoy hydrotherapy. Never having done that before, we were curious. They first have you go in the sauna a couple times & then a steam room. Then they have you in a shallow wading pool and you have to walk across rocks (?) to "stimulate circulation". It was weird. You then get in the pool (overlooking the resort and water) and go through a series of different water activities with jets and water spouts. It honestly seemed like a waste of time. When we were finally finished with the hydrotherapy, we sat in the lounge chairs and then were taken up to the massage room. Our massages were very good, but once my husband was lying face down on the table his masseuse whispered in his ear asking if he wanted to use some special oil that would only be "15 dollars more". No. This was completely inappropriate and he felt very unnerved by this woman whispering in his ear during a massage. Lastly, I have never seen so many people at a hotel openly using their cell phones. Almost every person I saw was on their phone, not looking up and greeting every guest walking by. Even the managers were guilty of doing this! All in all, it was a good (not great) experience and there are some places that they could definitely pick up the slack.

Yelp
Like most Secrets resorts the premises are quite beautiful. Staff are genuinely interested in making sure you are taken care of. Some small deficiencies exist but nothing major. Food options are plentiful with many restaurants to choose from. Preferred guests have there own restaurant for al a carte dining if you don't care for the buffet. Our A/C unit went on the fritz on our second day and they came to repair it quickly. Unfortunately at 3:00AM it started acting up again. We turned it off to sleep and they investigated it the next day. We asked for a room change and they worked to accommodate us. Apart from not having bananas at the bar on our first day, so no dirty banana drinks, we had no major complaints overall. We had to wait for towels the first day at the pool because most guests took towels to their room for the next day. We also had no maple syrup at the pancake station. Not sure why they think chocolate sauce is an option for pancakes? The beach is very nice but the sand (crushed sea shells) gets very hot and is difficult to walk on. Water shoes takes care of the problem. Water is warm and pleasant. Overall it is worth the extra 1 hour travel time it takes to get here. We would come back again.

Yelp
Our first impression with the Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa was not a good one. When we arrived at 6:30 pm Saturday evening, we were quickly greeted and checked in, via their Preferred Club Concierge. Immediately thereafter, one of the resort representatives that first met us in the lobby area, promised to give us the VIP tour of the place & take us to our room. Having been to many all-inclusive resorts over the years, his interest in us just didn't add up. Once we checked in, he sat us down and started the hard sell on some of the "extras" that the resort had to offer. Then, it happened. He told us that if we met with him tomorrow afternoon for just 30 minutes... that spelled timeshare to my wife and I, and we then said thanks, but no thanks. A guest to this resort will enjoy a better experience if they are fluent in Spanish, as not all the staffers speak English. Also, please note that the resort's target clientele is primarily Mexican Nationals. At the time of our visit (late August), it was considered off season. If you were to combine the pool goers from all three pools, they wouldn't fill the lounge chairs at their largest pool. Thus, if you prefer a more laid back atmosphere, this would be the time to go. However, the only drawback to off season was that only 2 of the 6 restaurants were open for dinner each night. Nonetheless, we were informed that the menus of the closed restaurants were available to us upon request. We were also told that room service was available 24 hours. All of the rooms are either ocean or pool view. The positioning of some of the light switches and the outlets are a bit off but it just took a little getting used to. The layout & design are a bit funky too. The walls surrounding the toilet and the shower/tub area are glass. As I was headed to my room, I passed an open door where housekeeping was talking to the male guest. As I walked by, I noticed a female enjoying a bubble bath. There is also a 'Secret Box'. It is used for room service without having to let them inside your suite. You just must remember to unlock the panel door so that room service can access the box from the outside for delivery/pick-up. I also caution you to not leave any of your personal items in that 'Secret Box'. Ground level rooms either have swim out pools outside their patios, or personal Jacuzzis on their patios. The resort was probably the eco-friendliest resort we have visited. Drinks are served without straws. Also, recyclable receptacles are scattered all over the resort. As with most all-inclusive resorts we have visited, we noticed the staff working their tails off to make our stay as pleasant as possible. That is what we found at the Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa. Overall, the biggest positive of the resort was the staff. My wife and I felt that the staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Folks like Erick in Concierge, to Santiago in Dining, to Dulce in Entertainment even knew us by name.

Yelp
Service is top notch! You are immediately greeted with champagne and a cleansing towel while checking in. This type of service continued throughout the trip. Always smiling faces and staff is great at encouraging fun activities that get you out of your shell. The drinks were made well and accurate. My wife and I had a blast. The cove that the resort overlooks is breathtakingly beautiful. I truly believe Secrets has customer experience at the forefront of their minds daily.

Yelp
This was the first resort I have been to, but it was an amazing experience. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. They have a rain shower, which was so relaxing. We stayed in a room with a hot tub on the balcony. The separator between each deck is a clear piece of glass, which meant you could see your neighbors and they could see you. I would recommend staying in a room with access to the swim out pool. The food was amazing! They have multiple options and the quality was great. I would recommend avoiding the lunch place by the pool. For nachos and tacos there were great but avoid their hamburgers; they taste like sausage burgers. The people who work there are so friendly and are eager to help. The swim out bar was great and the resort did a good job of keeping you busy with activities. The only negative which seems to be at any resort you go to is finding a chair by the pool. People every morning would lay towels and shirts at the seats but were never seen there through out most of the day. We would 100% go back and recommend!! Enjoy!!

Yelp
This is a awesome all-inclusive Resort. The wait staff are very friendly and warm. We arrived at 3pm for check in after being up for 24 hours in airports. I was extremely tired. They do push and I mean push that you do a 90 minute presentation in order to obtain certain room credits. I kept telling Osiris that we were only here for 6 days therefore we weren't interested in the presentation. Osiris then proceeded to offer us a 2 for 1 price for a Massage so we agreed. He booked our appointment for the next day. When we arrived at the Spa at our appointment time they asked us for the blue voucher. We said we didn't have one. The Spa receptionist then called her manager who then called Osiris. I then had to talk to Osiris on the phone who advised me that since I didn't attend the 90 minute presentation that my Massage was going to cost me more money i.e.; $80 each. Needless to say we walked out with no massages as I wasn't about to be caught up in there scam. I felt that Osiris should not have mislead us and booked the massages to have us show up without a voucher. He never indicated we needed a voucher he said he was just being nice giving us a good deal on the Massage. So beware you can tell them at check in you have no interest in hearing any sort of presentation. Be firm!!!!

Yelp
We wish we could have stayed longer because, I think we didn't see any of the activities that the hotel was providing. The food overall for being all inclusive was worth it, typically all inclusive resorts don't serve good food, so I was definitely really surprised by the restaurants, I wish more restaurants have ocean view there was only one and that was close at night. Another suggestion I have is to have more than one breakfast place. The wine selection was also very limited and the quality was poor. Service and people were nice and decoration and rooms are good, so I will definitely stay here another time.

Yelp
Great place to stay to be pampered. Food is good but the swim out rooms have the most awesome view. Although all too. Types have an awesome view.

Yelp
Snobby place. We went over to check it out for possible future stay and have a drink. Wouldn't let us in unless we bought a day pass for $65. Forget that place. I'll stay where they're friendly.

Yelp
I'm tempted to give 3 stars, but I'm a pretty optimistic/low maintenance traveler so I'll bump it to 4, but 3.5 might be more accurate. We stayed at this resort for 7 days last month for our honeymoon & had a nice stay. PROS: 1. The staff is excellent, everyone was so friendly, attentive, & quick. 2. It's very beautiful & the rooms are awesome. Great views & jet tubs! 3. Adults only, yay! 4. less than 10 minutes away from town, 70 peso taxi ride (less than $4usd) 5. good alcohol selection CONS: 1. Really rough beach. I live in San Diego so I'm no stranger to a beach, it was just too rough to enjoy. We took a taxi to another beach a few days into the vacation. 2. I've stayed at multiple all inclusives, & have never been to one that didn't keep all/majority of their restaurants open during appropriate meal times. Although there's a bundle of restaurants, only 2 or 3 at most were open for dinner each evening, that was annoying. 3. As soon as we arrived (after 12 hours of travel), they took time during check-in to try to sign us up for activities & timeshare meetings, the last thing I wanted to do after traveling. Luckily they weren't pushy & we wrapped that part up quick. 4. The power went out for one afternoon while we were there, that means no A.C. in crazy humidity. They have generators but only enough for main buildings, not the buildings with rooms. I wouldn't mind normally, things happen. But this is marketed as a top notch resort, so yeah I was a bit bothered. Overall, good stay & we'd definitely consider staying here again!

Yelp
Lived up to our expectations of what a premium, adults-only resort has to offer. What we loved: Pools - lots of pools and lots of space to relax an cool off. Rooms - large, ocean-front (every room), romantic and private accommodations. Drinks - obviously all-inclusive needs great drinks and great options and Secrets has both. Room Service - if you need something they'll get it for you. They're prompt and discreet. Filled the mini fridge daily and brought new sunscreen, cloths, towels, etc daily. Entertainment Staff - definitely passionate about their jobs and friendly & sincere. Security - no wrist bands, very safe, friendly people. Weather - it's hot. Prepare for heat and high UV Rays. Reapply sunscreen frequently. What we liked: Food - lots of options and low fuss to get in to the restaurants. Some were excellent, some were alright. Breakfast and lunch buffets were good with plenty of variety. Quality deteriorated as the service times got closer to closing. Service at all restaurants for dinner was excellent. Cleanliness - floors and rooms are clean. Some opportunities in the restaurants for higher sanitation. Beach - sand gets smoking hot and is coarse but it sure is beautiful. There are more beaches just a short walk (15 minutes) away. Hotel Staff - friendly, courteous, sincere. WiFi - pretty good most of the time. What we didn't like: Breakfast & lunch service wasn't attentive. Tables and cutlery not always changed between guests. We absolutely recommend Secrets Huatulco. We had a wonderful visit and certainly believe it deserves the reputation it has on-line and through travel agencies. We would definitely return.

Yelp
Why 4 and not 5 stars?.. First Salesman are waiting for you at the lobby trying to redeem cupons for you if you go to an "informative breakfast" . I came here with my mom for a 4 day all inclusive stay. first we flew with magnicharters and the transportation made stops on 3 more hotels and when we arrived to our hotel we were starving and all the restaurants were closed !!! (5-6 pm) although the cafeteria serves croissants and cold snacks we were told that the restaurants were open 24/7. So keep in mind the hours of the restaurants because ALL the restaurants are closed at 5! . Other than that there are so many activities to do everywhere and the service is magnifficent!!!

Yelp
I love it here at Secrets Huatulco. The beach view is amazing. I can gaze at the beautiful bay from our ocean view room for ever. I don't ever want to leave the very attentive staff who pay attention to every detail. The restaurants are decorated very nice and the food is safely prepared and presented. I encourage anyone to travel in the off season as the restaurants and bars are not crowded at all. Plus the weather is more pleasant than the hot muggy midwestern summers. We participated in a lot of the provided activities. The activities staff was helpful, polite, multi lingual and most of all fun. Our room was very spacious and we especially loved the gardens. They have a secret garden walking tour that if you enjoy pollinators you will love this place. You can see evidence there is a commitment from the AMResorts team to live in harmony with the natural beauty of the Huatulco area. I respect that from a provider. Walking the beach can be a great treasure find but can be a bit of work. My big feet collapsed in the sand as I walked. The only drawback. Not a great beach for jogging. But no seaweed!

Yelp
This is a difficult review to write. I love the Secrets resorts. We've been to other locations. This was the first time we've been to the Huatulco location. Most likely it will be our last. This resort does not have as many amenities and restaurants as its larger sister resorts but it is pretty secluded. If you want to get away from it all without going completely off grid, this location is for you. For the most part our stay was pleasant. Most of the staff are warm and friendly. If you want to leave your toiletries at home you can. Sunscreen, body lotion, shampoo, shower gel, a comb, etc. can all be found in your suite. Speaking of accommodations, you don't really need a suite here. All the rooms face the ocean. We booked a junior suite with an outdoor jacuzzi, didn't particularly care for it, as there is not much privacy between the suites. Also, there is a soaking tub inside the suite. There is also a 'Secret Box'. It is used for room service without having to let them inside your suite. You just have to remember to unlock the panel so room service can access the box from the outside for delivery/pick-up. I also caution you to not leave any of your personal items in that 'Secret Box'. If you're coming here for a special occasion, dinner on the beach is quite a special treat (book early). Before we arrived we booked a couples massage and was quoted a price. When we arrived the package we booked included a booklet of coupons. As it turns out, the coupons ended up being useless. Too many stipulations! Even though they DO NOT mention any of those to you during checkin. You can only use one coupon per suite. We were told we could use it for our bill and spa service. During checkout we were informed it would not be applicable to either one. They even tried to change the price they quoted us for the spa service. Truly frustrating!! On top of that, no one could be bothered to help answer your questions. Also, do not fall for their presentation push during checkin. It's a SCAM!!! It will also suck up half your day. You'll have to deal with an ENTIRE team of salespeople. A time suck no one needs on vacation

Yelp
My wife and I have stayed at several all inclusives over the past few years, and this was by far the best one! I'll start with Huatulco. The weather was incredible. It was hot, but it was not humid like it is on the East coast of Mexico. This was great as it made wearing pants bearable at the evening meals. The resort was beautiful. Being built into the side of a hill, you are given great views of the Ocean and of the pool. Many people recommend building 5 for a view of the Ocean. However, we actually ended up in building 6, and we loved it! We had a chance to move over to building 5 when a room was ready, but declined. Building 6 doesn't have the view, but it's right by the main pool, so you can hear the music, the action, and it's much closer to the main pool bar. Being in building 5, we also had the swim out room, which I would totally recommend. We used our personal pool all the time, but would switch back and forth from the main pool since we were so close. There was a server outside, so we never had to get out of our personal pool for a drink if we didn't want to. The food and drinks were also great at this resort. Never have I stayed somewhere that you could get a steak at almost every restaurant. The best part? You don't have to make reservations!! That is such an added bonus. The only time you need a reservation is at the hibachi table if you want to watch the chef (which I would recommend). All of the restaurants were open each night, so it never felt packed, even though the resort was sold out. If you are a beach lover, this might not be the best place, as the sand is rough and not pleasant to walk on. My wife and I spend most of our time at the pool, so we didn't really care about this. I'm sure some people will though. One other negative, which again I didn't care much about, was that the wifi in the room did not work even though my phone picked up the network. It did work in the lobby and at the skybar, so I usually would check in there. This will be a big deal to some people, but when we travel to all inclusives, part of the enjoyment is to get away from it all, so again, not a huge issue. Overall, I can't say enough about how great this resort is. The people, the service, the activities, the food, the drinks, the views, the rooms, are all excellent!! We can't wait to go back!!

Yelp
We travel overseas several times a year, and this is the worst place we've ever stayed-- thank goodness it was only for a single night. I took a 5-minute shower, and water began pouring out of the adjacent closet into our room. I had to scramble to move our luggage so it didn't get soaked. I called the front desk and asked them to change our room; they wouldn't do it and said that instead they'd send maintenance to fix the problem and clean up. We left for dinner, and when we got back a few hours later, there was still an enormous puddle in the middle of our room. All of our towels had been used to do a cursory clean-up job, then dumped into the bathtub, so now our bathroom was dirty, too, and we had no clean towels. We called the manager, who was not apologetic and actually quite rude about the situation. By now, it was after midnight, and they sent another crew down to clean up. The water was literally everywhere, and they had to move the furniture to clean up. They refused to offer us even a partial refund. Absolutely outrageous. We'll never stay here again. Five-star prices, motel-quality service. We've had a better experience in hostels.
