9 Best Adults-only All-inclusive Resorts in Jamaica

"A contemporary, all-suite resort prized for its convenient proximity to the airport and for offering a resort-within-resort feel via an upscale Preferred Club upgrade that unlocks an exclusive lounge, private pool and beach. Suites are designed for relaxation with calming palettes, whirlpool tubs and private balconies, and culinary options span several bars and about ten restaurants—from haute French to Pan-Asian—along with nightly entertainment and themed parties. Some rooms lack ocean views, so upgrades may be worthwhile for vistas or private-club amenities." - Lauren Dana Ellman Lauren Dana Ellman Lauren Dana Ellman is a New York-based writer and editor who specializes in travel, lifestyle, food, and shopping content. I recently returned from a 60th birthday celebration at Wild Orchid. It was an awesome experience. I've been to several resorts in Jamaica and I have to say this one was the best thus far. They offer many activities and live shows. It was Jamaica Day on one of my day's and the "Bob Marley Tribute" was excellent. We did karaoke and water aerobics. Lounged around the pool with exceptional service. An authentic jerk truck with plantain and corn visited the pool area daily. The Blue Mountain restaurant served delicious Jamaican cuisine; I had the oxtail. The Asian Infused restaurant was also delicious. We also got a massage at the Spa; best I've ever had. As I stated earlier, everyone was so accommodating. I'd like to shine a special shout out to a few people who made our stay EXTRA special: Karen (at the lobby bar), Amanda (our appointment Spa setter), Oscar, Erron (pool server), Ray, Peanut, Nadia, Janice, Nick (water aerobics instructor), Sayno, and Sherece (Pool server).

I'll start off with the airport. From the time we exited the airplane until we left the airport, it took an hour. The airport has done away with paper forms and went digital failing to post instructions anywhere of the process you need to follow. If you do not have a cell phone and and e-mail address you are doomed at entry into Jamaica.|We finally arrived at Secrets early afternoon. For a bus load of guests there was only one person checking us in. Another 30+ minute wait. We hadn't eaten since 5am and barely made it to the only restaurant 10 minutes before the 3pm closing. They boasted 9 restaurants which in a way is only half true. There are technically 9 but only 5 are open daily. There is no dinner buffet so you must chose a restaurant. The Hibachi grill is reservation only and is not free. The outside Chinese restaurant is weather permitting but you'll need the flashlight on your cell phone because there is only a fake candle on the table for lighting. And expect at least 2 hours for dinner here since there is only 1 waitress for 17 tables. The French restaurant is mediocre. The Italian restaurant was by far the best of the bunch (but that isn't saying much).|This was our 5th visit to Secrets Montego Bay and will probably be our last. We've noticed on our last visit they were aiming for the 20 something party crowd. This visit solidified that assumption. The loud music all day at he pools and the need to entertain the guests all day proved it. Which BTW, they removed all the chairs closest to the pool and replaced them with cabana lounges, which, you guessed it are not free. |The last straw was the "beach party extravaganza" that went on until 10:45 Thursday night (it was supposed to be done at 10pm). It was 100' from our patio door with 2 hours of extremely loud techno dance music (an AC/DC concert isn't this loud). We were tired and just wanted to go to bed but even with ear plugs this was not to be. We called the front desk and got an "Oh well".|Alas.. Come check out day and you guessed it...one staff member to check out a bus load of guests. Another half hour frantic wait as the bus was already there and loading.|On the positive side...the staff was superb and polite. The beach was spotless and the ocean was 86 degrees. The room was clean (but shampoo in the shower was non-existent). The food, especially breakfast, was edible. It's only a few miles from the airport, so the bus ride is tolerable.|Will we return? In all likelihood...no. In their price range I'm sure we can find another resort with better food and geared to relaxation and not the party crowd.

I booked Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay for my mother’s birthday, a rare opportunity for her to rest, as she is always caring for everyone else. After over an hour on hold confirming a date change, I was assured everything was ready. When we arrived, there was no shuttle, and I was denied entry for 20 minutes at the hotel gate despite showing my confirmation and passport, causing a backup and near heat exhaustion for everyone waiting in the blazing sun. It wasn't until the taxi driver made a scene that we finally got moving. Check-in was unorganized, and staff couldn’t locate my reservation or room. It took nearly two hours and calls to Hyatt before I was finally moved to the Preferred side I had reserved. During the stay, I was appalled by unsanitary conditions, fecal splashes on the toilet, dirty water served for tea (see pic), and yellow-tinged, foul-smelling water from the faucets. I requested follow-up from both the general manager and the director; neither followed through despite repeated promises. The room service manager, to his credit, took responsibility for the water issue and delivered cake and wine for my mother’s birthday, but this gesture could not make up for upper management’s failures. The only redeeming aspect was the kindness and professionalism of the general staff despite obvious systemic issues. For over $1,300 for two nights, the experience was unacceptable; unsanitary conditions, basic accommodations, no meaningful recognition of a special occasion, and lack of promised follow up from upper management. I usually stay with Marriott, but I gave Hyatt a chance. This experience made me deeply regret that decision.

Made an upgrade directly with the hotel once for an upgrade to the club top level for $1737, and once for an upgrade to the suite level. Trip was canceled due to hurricane. I requested a refund two weeks ago and still nothing. United was able to do it in 3 days. They can’t even confirm if the refund has been processed and are blaming it on the banks. Pretty sure online banking is a thing.. Please refund my money so I can book and pay for another vacation…

Our experience at Secrets Wild Orchid was was nothing short of amazing. The staff delivered unprecedented service. Our guide Brandon was truly the best in the business. In addition we purchased the private Moonlight Dinner and couldn’t have been happier. This was our first trip to Jamaica 🇯🇲 and I can say we will definitely return. Rooms could use some updating.

This resort is so outdated and needs renovation bad. Even the preferred side is outdated. Although I didn't experience the roaches I heard several people complained about it in their rooms. Even a couple stated upon check-in they had to ask them to come and clean their rooms again. Amstar which is the excursions are overpriced. You still have to pay for your food for Rick's Cafe. Its best to book through the travel agent or self for any excursions. There was mold throughout the shower area, water was running into the toilet area. House keeping never mopped the floor for cleaning nor changed the sheets the entire stay. Had to keep asking for clean rags and towels. Lamp shades were moldy and they keep the room cool so you won't smell the mold. Please avoid this high price expensive resort. Do not Do not buy from the boutiques very expensive and overpriced. Will never stay here again!

Secrets Wild Orchid is part of a resort complex including a Breathless and Secrets St. James. All three resorts are adults only and all three share restaurants although reservations are only necessary for Breathless rooftop restaurant and the hibachi restaurant that was very entertaining. Our ocean view room was very nice and the staff was very helpful overall. We enjoyed both the beach and the pools here and the food was very good overall. However, there were towel issues around the beach and pools. Guests did not check out towels with their room keys or room numbers, so there was no incentive for them to remove them from the chairs. The towels laid on the chairs all day long, as there was no cutoff time to remove them, or a way of telling if the chairs were actually available. Also, the towel colors did not always correspond with the areas they were in.

In general would give this resort a 3.5 out of 5. They desperately need to remodel and upgrade their rooms, pool, restaurants décor etc. The hospitality was not always good, a lot of times the women would give a lot of attitude and make it seem like getting our requests were such a pain to them. Our toilet was clogged one of the nights just because they didn't work well enough. I had to call front desk 3 times with a wait of over an hour, no one came. I had to go down to front desk and demand maintenance to ride in the elevator with me to fix the issue. A few days later when we were making a reservation to a restaurant the hostess was oh room # XXX you guys had the toilet complaint - EXCUSE ME? First of very unprofessional you would bring that up at dinner, secondly it wasn't my fault maintenance was not doing their job and I had to yell at them to do so. The food was really good however, the wait for receiving your food was sometimes over an hour. The hibachi experience was one of our top memories - definitely recommend. The coffee shop had great coffee and the women there were very nice there. The beach area was great, beautiful, calm waves with amazing sunset. In general I do not think the cost for this resort was worth what we got
