My lady and I had a chance to attend the final day of the Wyndham PGA Championship in Greensboro, NC this past August. What we saw (beside a lot of golf talent) was a beautiful golf course within the Sedgefield Country Club. Note that the club boast two lush, demanding and mature 18 hole challenges. Also, while this is a private club, you can apparently ... within certain parameters, play the courses.
This was our first time at the Wyndham Championship. So, when purchasing our tickets for this event, we decided to "upgrade" to the "Viewing Platform" option. This cost us quite significantly more than standard admission .... and in my opinion, was a mistake on my part. Reason - there were multiple viewing platforms throughout the course - some requiring our level of tickets, others did not. As it turns out, all we received for the extra ticket money was access to open bars. And, while I like to certainly imbibe ... I would have needed to hammer down expensive drinks all day ... one after another ... in order to come close to breakeven (and, I did not see premium liquor or wine).
Besides my mistake in purchasing the wrong tickets, we had a great time at this event. It was well organized, well attended and the performance of the PGA professionals was extraordinary.
Now, I want to return and play one of the courses.
