Seehotel Ambach (Kaltern, Alps / Dolomites) 4 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Don’t let the names mislead you. Seehotel Ambach, designed by architect Otmar Barth, lies on the Italian side of the border, in the Alpine province of South Tyrol. It’s a modernist classic from the Seventies, a decade whose style is only now being appreciated for its utopian spirit. And if this retreat on the shores of Lake Caldaro isn’t utopia, we don’t know what is — the gentle arch of the building allows for panoramic views from its terraces and sunlight-filled rooms, providing a remarkably close connection between the interiors and the landscape." - Tablet Hotels

Spectacular place. Lovely 1970s hotel with luxurious bedrooms, set within landscaped gardens, with easy access to the lake. This is a total balm. Great for families too but not overcrowded. Excellent breakfast. Would recommend to eat dinner elsewhere though. There are numerous places nearby and in Caldaro village.

Not sure everyone who visits this hotel really gets it but it is totally fab. The 70s decor is super fun and I wouldn’t want to change it though delighted the bathrooms have all had gorgeous makeovers. The food is probably the best I’ve ever had at a hotel with the vegetarian menu unbelievably brilliant. Service is fab in the restaurant, breakfast excellent - they even provide a juicer to make your own. The setting on lake Caldaro is gorgeous, with paddle boards, kayaks, pedalos and a rowing boat that you just help yourselves too. The swimming pool is fab and the badehaus was great. All in all, a super family-run hotel in a gorgeous setting.

At the lake with a very nice and quiet area. The staff are really really nice and helpful. We took their e-bikes for a tour around the lake, and it was a great experience. The ambiance is basically a retro style of the 1970’s with lots of vintage pieces in every corner.

A truly special, serene place. The location, surrounded by vineyards and apple plantations, is hard to beat, far from major traffic (however still within a 15 min walk from the bus stop which connects Kalterer See with the surrounding villages). The views are just as amazing as the well-preserved 1970s architecture and the huge park which makes for great tranquility while still offering space for families with kids. Also, the design of the new bath/spa house does not disappoint. The warm lake is easily accessible and water sports accessories are free for all hotel guests. The food served for dinner on the lake-side terrace is of Michelin-worthy quality and the staff is friendly and efficient. This kind of place is very rare and can be recommended whole-heartedly.

A few weeks ago I have been gifted a stay in this hotel, such a perfect place to wave summer goodbye.|A geometrical design although delicate and winding, in perfect armony with the beauty of the nature that surrounds it. |A true slice of heaven nestling in a pristine landscape of wineyards and orchards that overlooks the lake which gift the guest with an oasis of tranquility and peace far away from the noise and chaos of the city. |A welcoming staff, spotless rooms, and a cozy terrace with a breathtaking lake view make the whole experience even more satisfying.|The breakfast buffet offers an endless variety of delicacies (with an extract-making machine for those who are looking for an healthy breakfast). |The spa area located in the middle of the nature will pamper your body and soul. |The only regret I have is that I haven't had the chace to try the Restaurant of the hotel ...seems to me the perfect reason to come back!|

We were extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to dine at the Seehotel Ambach. The restaurant terrace has a great view of the lake and surrounding vineyards. Our dinner was faultless. The food was well prepared and well presented, the local wines were delicious, and the service was attentive. ||The new owners of the hotel have refurbished some parts of the interior but have taken great care to maintain the character of the property. It is hard to believe that such a modern building was built in the 1970s! ||Our only regret is that we were only having dinner at the hotel. We will definitely return here so that we can enjoy the swimming pool and spa!

I stayed here with a friend for a few days at the end of July. The hotel is very quiet and peaceful, of you listen you can hear kids jumping in across the lake which is quite sweet. Not disturbing, but pleasant actually. We loved taking the baffle boards out and laying out on the lawn by the big willow tree. I ran in the mornings in the shade and swam in the day time. It's a treat here, I have no complaints. The food is very good and acclimated my vegetarian diet and my friends gluten free diet. The hotel itself is so gorgeous as well, it's nice just to be there. Highly recommended!

We stayed here because we were visiting friends of Manincor wine estate which is accross the hotel at the other side of the lake. The hotel has a quirky seventies design and the rooms are (very) basic but you can see the lake and the big garden where people can lie on sunbeds. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, the food is very good. Only the wifi is quite bad and when there is an event (like a wedding), it is very difficult to park your car. And it is a pity that the cleaning ladies start vacuum outside the hotelroom already at 8 o' clock. A bit more quietness would be ideal.
