SeeHotel Gotthard

Had such a lovely stay at this hotel! For those who may be wondering, it is not fancy but it is charming, has beautiful views, and comfortable. I was booked to stay in a junior suite (427) with my parents but due to a family emergency, my parents were sadly unable to join. The junior suite (all that was left while booking) would have been tight for 3 adults but we would have made it work — it is well situated, with a built-in closet structure dividing the main bedroom from the sitting area (and pullout couch). There are 7-8 windows in the room itself (!) with excellent views of the lake and mountains. Rooms are clean and bathroom was a good size. They provide soap and a combined shampoo/body gel (glad I brought my own shampoo + conditioner). I do wish rooms had irons but there’s a communal laundry room to iron your clothes on the 1st floor. I stayed for just 2 nights but could have easily stayed longer. I see that the AC unit is likely a new addition to the room and much appreciated. While it did cool down in the evenings, days were rather hot. The hotel staff is wonderful - everyone was so kind and accommodating. Breakfast was fabulous and a treat - so much fresh fruit, an assortment of eggs, cheese, meats, yogurts, cereal, breads + croissants, and their yummy homemade jam. Coffee was excellent too. I dined at their on-site restaurant both nights (do make reservations) - and loved the fresh grilled pike-perch, available on their summer (non-rainy) menu only. Lots of locals seem to dine there as well. I swam in the lake the day I arrived (it was glorious and so easy to access!). I also went for walks every night post-dinner and always felt safe as a single female (see sunset photos). Beautiful views whichever direction you go. 20% off tix to Mt. Rigi and other activities. My family and I will hopefully return to Weggis - it is so beautiful and serene, and we will certainly stay at this centrally-located hotel! We had a reservation for a lunch meal which was preordered. Considering this fact, the service was poor, with extensive delays on meals and even one which was forgotten. Additionally, the food was served cold and posed an unhygienic image due to hair being found in 2 dishes. We sat in the sun for an hour before we took matters into our own hands and put an umbrella up ourselves.

Weggis is a great base for exploring the lake or heading into the mountains. This is a splendid hotel run by nice people. We had a very spacious room with a wonderful view from our balcony along the lake to Mt Pilatus. There is a pool or a jetty for swimming in the lake. Evening meals on the lakeside terrace were memorable - delicious cooking. Hotel is very convenient for bus/boat. Reasonably priced.

Very friendly and helpful service. This family-run hotel has a fantastic position with views over the lake, and the staff couldn't have done more for us during our short stay. The only drawback was the lack of aircon - the room got very hot during the day no matter what combination of windows, shutters and curtains we tried, and it was rather noisy to run the fan all night, although that helped the comfort. As seems to be common in Swiss hotels, the pillows were too soft for us

The rooms may be a little plain, without air conditioning for the hot weather, but the family who run it and their excellent team are the most attentive and friendly I have come across for years.||We really enjoyed our stay. The resturant from breakfast to evening dinner leaves nothing wanting.||The rooms are clean and serviced properly every day. Beats many a larger firm hands down.||I’m sure we will be back.||Thank you.

We are a family of five and we have just returned from a 9-day stay at SeeHotel Gotthard. We experienced the warm hospitality of the Nanzer family and their staff at their lovely hotel. The location of the hotel was ideal for us as we hired a car to be able to go on daily day-trips in the vicinity. The hotel is in Weggis, which is a small village on Lake Lucerne, not far from Mount Rigi. The hotel is also centrally located in the village within walking distance to the main amenities of Weggis, including the ferry stop and many restaurants.||We visited various well-known locations during our stay by making day trips to Mount Pilatus, Lucerne, Zurich, Basel, Bern, Interlaken and Liechtenstein. These were all within a 2-hour drive from the hotel. ||The family running the hotel and their staff made us really welcome and they were always willing and ready to answer our questions and queries. We were even offered a free welcome drink on our arrival. We also managed to find space to park in front of the hotel, free of charge, every day during our stay.||As part of the hotel facilities, we were able to use the heated swimming pool and jacuzzi across the road from the hotel, apart from being able to have a dip in the lake itself – also as soon as you cross the road. Unfortunately, the water was already too cold when we got there, so we did not go into the water except once. The hotel also provides free beach towels. ||As a family of five, we used two separate rooms during our stay. Both were very spacious with cosy beds and bathrooms, which were cleaned every day unless you asked otherwise. Other perks in the rooms included free tea and coffee, free wifi, tv, a small refrigerator and kettle.||The hotel has a restaurant which serves food with a la carte menu and also pizzas. We ate there three times and every time the food was fresh, delicious and so well prepared and presented. We all loved it. The price of the food was reasonable and compared very well to other restaurants.||We also had breakfast at the hotel. It consisted of a wide variety of healthy food. A very good selection of cheeses, cold meats, yoghurts, cereals, jams and fresh bread with hot drinks every morning. We really used to look forward to it while we were there. And the service always came with a smile by our hosts. On the last day of our trip, we had to leave very early in the morning to catch the flight home from Zurich airport. The very kind hotel staff prepared a packed breakfast for each one of us with sandwiches, yoghurt, fruit and water. We all thought this was such a nice gesture.||In conclusion, SeeHotel Gotthard was an excellent choice for us. It was quiet and relaxing yet it was so very convenient in terms of comfort and location, whilst providing a touch of luxury for all of us. It contributed to make our holiday in beautiful Switzerland so memorable and enjoyable.

What a delightful, charming hotel! The staff is helpful, courteous and welcoming. The restaurant offers an excellent menu. The food was delicious!! The service wonderful! I feel so very blessed that we ended up in Weggis and at Gotthard. We will be back

Outstanding quality of food, especially the bbq steaks when weather permits, combined with friendly professional service. Highly recommended

So, I'm here in May and asparagus are in! Whatever you do, do not miss Gotthard's Cream of Asparagus soup! Pricey but worth every penny. Service was flawless.
