A cozy old restaurant with an interesting menu, including a separate children's menu. Everything we tried was very delicious. Beef goulash, Arctic char, homemade salad. For dessert, we had coffee and tiramisu.

Stopped in Gmunden for two nights solo after travelling with a friend. I wanted a place to relax, enjoy the scenery, but still have a few things to see and this fit the bill perfectly!||I went back and forth on whether to give 4 or 5 stars, but went with 5. |Reason for 4: Rooms a bit dated, limited amenities, and no A/C.|Reason for 5: Despite age of furnishings and design, room was clean and furniture in good condition; shower had good pressure. It was abnormally hot in August, but I was able to shut the sun out in the day, open windows at night and I had a fan delivered promptly so I slept well.||In addition, I was upgraded to a double room with the best view that was just what I wanted! They also let me check-in a couple of hours early. I got food from the grocery store and enjoyed it from the balcony (hotel gladly gave me cutlery) - better view than any restaurant in town! I even got a bit of a fireworks show one night!||Location is ideal - It is literally in the very centre across from the Town Hall - 15 minute walk to mountain lift; about 20 to Schloss Ort; and about 25 to the Strandbad pool (take your own towel); tram from station stopped outside. ||Breakfast was fantastic! Charming room with everything you need including cappuccino and sparkling wine!||I doubt I’ll be back to Gmunden in the near future, but I would stay again and would recommend. It was a perfect spot to relax and decompress before heading home and back to the real world!

We were quite excited for this stay, since the reviews & photos looked quite spectacular - and to be fair, from our room, at least the scenery delivered. Much to our dismay, the rest of the hotel didn't. Apart from the restaurant, the interior reminded me of my old boarding school (rooms furnished like for a 16 year old, the flush from the toilette broken, soap dispensers empty etc.). Apart from the front outside, this hotel seems to have had its best days in the past. This is especially puzzling, since - from our own experience - these generation-long hotels are especially well kept & details more thought of. Not the case here, unfortunately. The breakfast was alright, but nothing to write home about (lots of fatty stuff & sugar, very little vegetables). Another negative was the service at the restaurant - not particularly bad, but rather inattentive & somewhat arrogant. Normally - at least in other hotels - one is being advised that the breakfast buffet will be cleared... but not removed 5 minutes before it's due to end. That is just rude! Furthermore, if you have a larger group for dinner & not check on them regularly (especially when it's not even that busy) & this group has to get it's own drinks at the bar, something is clearly amiss. For a location that pricy, the stay mostly was a let-down & not anything I will recommend. As for the rating, a 2,5 would be rather appropriate - but Google won't let me do that. EDIT: I did write my criticism beforehand via email after our departure , but received no reaction - hence my review.

Gorgeous scenery from the terrace overlooking the lake and mountains as background. Food was… not great. Veal was dry and flavorless. Potatoes were greasy and flavorless. Don’t go here to eat. Fantastic place to sit down for a drink. Friendly staff

Great hotel with great location! Everything was good and smooth. Rooms are renovated, view was great, breakfast was ok. Check-in / checkout was fast and smooth. Can recommend this hotel. The only concern is parking as: there is a free parking next to hotel (which has limited availability) and there is a paid parking at the square in front of the hotel (it’s free from 5 in the evening till 9 in the morning). At the city parking you cannot really pay via the app (aimed for Austrian citizens) but if you lucky to do that – the limit is 40 minutes max. I’d love to stay more in the Gmunden but decided to leave early because of the possible issues with parking. Again, not the hotel issue – more a hint for next visitors.

Not very clean rooms, mould and dirt apparent in bathrooms. Bathroom desperately needs updating. We stayed 4 nights and by then the room was in need of a clean not just a quick tidy. A daily clean would have been good considering the price each day was the same. Good breakfast. It was a very noisy location and not at all relaxing. The hotel is on the lake and town Square so expect party boats at night and flea markets or events early every morning.

Great location, perfect spot at the lake. Food was typical local cuisine. Unfriendly service (at the restaurant) dampened the experience.
