Seemingly Overzealous Ice Cream

So I’m not gonna lie I was pretty skeptical to try this ice cream because I saw dairy free gluten-free and immediately thought what kind of ice cream is going to satisfy my sweet tooth when you’re taking away all the guilty pleasures, but it was actually pretty good. I had the “I need someone to feed” ice cream, which was comprised of brown sugar cinnamon. It pretty much taste like cinnamon toast crunch, but just an ice cream form. I had it on a waffle cone and it was such a nice treat after a long work day. Prices were not too crazy. They offer an array of other options which also have really cool creative names. I definitely can’t wait to try some other flavors, but it’s definitely worth the hype so next time I don’t judge ice cream shop by its name or offerings. Definitely check them out for yourself!

One of my favorite spots in the neighborhood! The atmosphere is full of fun and nostalgia—it instantly takes you back to childhood. It’s almost impossible not to smile when you walk through the doors. I have no idea how they make vegan ice cream taste this good, but they’ve absolutely nailed it. The flavors are always creative, delicious, and constantly changing, which keeps me coming back again and again. Vegan or not, this ice cream is for everyone. We made an unplanned visit after having lunch at Camp North End. My husband Pete usually doesn’t stand in lines, this one was a bit longer than usual but for “good” reason. And so worth the wait! We have tried ice cream around the world & you would never know this is dairy, egg, and gluten free. I had the Queen bee lavender and honeycomb & it was to die for! I’m not over exaggerating! According to Alex, the sweet manager on duty, they had just launched it the day before. I am obsessed with it & so glad she talked me into it. Pete had the “easy to love” classic milk chocolate. The shop was ADORABLE and the staff was friendly and helpful!! They offered a variety of unique flavors I will definitely be back to try. I got the blue moon ice cream today and was told it tasted like fruit loops. It DOES and was DELICIOUS! Plastic and wooden spoon options and a cute little waffle cone chip on the side :) loved it!!!

My favorite vegan ice cream ever, I’m so glad this place exists in charlotte. If I ever left charlotte this is one of the only places I would really miss. Their ice cream is not only dairy and gluten free but also just perfection. I’ve tried everything from ice cream to sammies to their most recent ice cream cake! Absolutely blown away! It’s not easy finding GF/DF dessert options, and they rarely taste as good as the real deal. That’s not the case here! My wife and I were both extremely impressed with each flavor of ice cream that we tried. Will be back, 11/10!

Ice Cream that won't make me gas my family out! Seemingly has the best dairy free ice cream I have ever had. The cookies & cream and Cheesecake were my favorites. Prices were reasonable and customer service was great!

The ice cream is SO good! It’s gluten, dairy and egg free! The taste was amazing! We got the second date cake (chocolate brownie), can’t all be cookie (cookies & cream), forklift hug (strawberry ice cream with candied pretzels and ice cream & cake & cake (birthday cake). Every single thing we ate was SO good! The ice cream tasted like regular ice cream! The brownies, cookies and waffle cones were so good! For being gluten free they were full of flavor! If you’re in Charlotte you have to stop here for some dessert! We loved it! The area it’s located in is nice a calm. A cute little dessert shop! We loved everything about it!

Allergy heaven! Love that all of their options are gluten free. I went about 30 minutes before close and they were out of Cookie sandwiches and waffle cone crisps, so plan accordingly if you have your eye on those. There is a courtyard with shared seating outside. We lucked out with street parking nearby, but the parking deck is also close!

10/10 -- I don't know what's in the ice cream and I don't want to know lol all I know is that it tastes good. Such of a nice alternative for vegan and gluten free folks! I come here almost once a week and I don't feel guilty because everything is egg, gluten and dairy free! I never feel gross after I eat this. Its very good and I love how they constantly change up the flavors! The flavors are usually fresh and somewhat healthy - like options with ginger or tumeric. It's just a really fun and refreshing treat! This place is usually pretty crowded - so definitely expect a wait. The shop is very tiny so don't expect to dine in. There is plenty of free parking at Camp North but be prepared to walk! Definitely worth the wait.

Seemingly Overzealous is a cute little icecream shop with some unique flavor offerings. I got a scoop of butter pecan and a scoop of carrot cake ice cream on a cone. The icecream was smooth and really yummy, the waffle cone was a bit too crunchy for my liking, but my friend loved that about the cone. . The shop was clean, the staff were patient and friendly and offered samples.

The ice cream was so good, I forgot to take a pic. Located at Camp North End. There was a long line, but it went fast and customer service was great. The inside is really small, so if there's a lot of people you will have to form a line outside. I feel its worth the wait. BlueMoon flavor is my favorite. Tastes like a blend of fruity pebbles and cotton candy. It's not to milky, and not overly sweet. Just the way I like it. The waffle cones were being made on the spot and all I can say is, it was the best waffle cone I have ever had. Extra crispy and the flavors linger in your mouth long after you've finished. Hmm mmh good. I highly recommend

Enjoyed a scoop of I Need People to Feed (?) (toffee and Cinnamon Toast Crunch) here on a hot hot summer afternoon! Arrived around 330pm and there was a steady line. Friendly service, generous with samples! A little expensive for a single scoop, but it's in a great area and gets the job done when the need to beat the heat hits!! A few seats inside and plenty of outdoor seating available. Would recommend!

Sooo good, it's definitely worth a try! This is inside Camp North End. Coming through Charlotte and had to make a pit stop to check out this spot. It's such a fun vibe indoors and the service was great. I wanted to try their mint chip and was offered a bit of a sample. So good and I loved that it is topped with a bit of a waffle cone chip because I ordered in the cup. Would be coming back.

Bit expensive for quality and portioning. I liked the flavors I got, but again not worth the price. Online said pets welcomed and yet my dog was not welcomed.

Amazed that this ice cream (or technically, "non-dairy frozen dessert") is entirely dairy, egg, and gluten-free! For the amount of creaminess and flavor, I could have sworn I was eating plain ole ice cream. Conveniently located inside Camp North End (which has free 3-hour parking in the garage), Seemingly Overzealous is a cute scoop shop with brightly-colored décor and some seating both inside (bar stools against the windows) and outside (benches with a fun ice cream drip design). Upon entering, a friendly staff member asked if we'd visited before. No? OK well then you get the full spiel! First, go to the cash register. Let them know how many scoops you'd like, and pay. Next, slide over to the left, and try all the samples you'd like at the counter before making your final selection! And they weren't kidding: we were encouraged to try as many as we wanted, which was so nice when it seems like more and more ice cream shops are cutting down on samples or make you feel bad about wanting to try more flavors. Everything we tried was so tasty, and we ultimately went with 2 scoops: peach cobbler & brown sugar cinnamon. These went so well together! The staff explained that the peach cobbler is a new & improved recipe since they'd received feedback from customers that they wanted more peach, and it delivered! The brown sugar cinnamon was chock full o' flavor and tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Seemingly Overzealous is a dream for those with allergies/food restrictions -- and for those who just love great "non-dairy frozen dessert!"

Everything is better with ice cream + knowing that there isn't any dairy to make me regret the ice cream in the first place. I appreciate when flavors rotate. Ube cheesecake was my winner of the night and I can see how it was voted back by customers. I've been thinking about the next time I'd be back since the last time I was there. I guess that means I'll be there tomorrow.... Now to decide which flair to get.

Looking to cool off in this "Not Quite Summer" heat, then look no farther than Seemingly Overzealous! They have the most delicious flavors of ice cream, and everything is dairy, egg, and gluten-free! Healthy and tasty is a combo I can definitely get with. Located in Camp North End, it will definitely be a visit I'll make often when I'm visiting the QC. My boys and I were lucky they were open for Memorial Day. The owner and his daughter were the perfect host to our curious needs. We were able to sample flavors before deciding on our final selection. Oli was able to practice her first scoop with my selection, and she did an excellent job! I was afraid she was giving me too much and was going to be fired her first day on the job. But dad was pleasantly pleased as well. I went with Papercup Love Notes (coffee) + Easy to Please (vanilla). Darius had Is This My Life (tumeric, cinnamon, ginger, blk pepper, nutmeg, roasted coriander, and honey) + The Dinner Rule (peanut butter w/Oreos). DeAndre chose Never Tear Us Apart (butter pecan) + I Needed Someone to Feed (brown sugar, cinnamon, like cinnamon toast crunch milk). We were able to sample each others and I must say, they all were delicious! Looking forward to trying them again!

I cannot say enough great things about Seemingly Overzealous Ice Cream! As a big ice cream lover myself, I was worried about the overhype of this place but they rose to the challenge. Seemingly Overzealous provides dairy, egg, and gluten free ice cream making it inclusive for people with dietary constraints. They have a colorful and funky marketing style which makes the space fun and lively. Their shop in Camp North End is fairly small but the line is worth the delicious flavors! I got two scoops: chocolate with cookies and cream. I can't wait to try this businesses new location that recently opened in Plaza Midwood!

Delicious vegan ice cream with a bunch of flavors. I don't remember what I got because the names are kinda long but I got two different flavors and they're both amazing

Ice cream is overly sweet for my taste. The flow/logistics of the service is ridiculous. The line start with ordering the ice cream. For first time customer, it's hard to order one without seeing what flavor are available to order (not everyone can scan to see their flavor), let alone sampling it. The poor logistics/flow of this tiny place makes it even congested. We will not come back here or recommend this place for the ice cream and service.

I love Seemingly Overzealous. I live around the corner & have been visiting since the weekend they opened. I don't normally gravitate towards non dairy ice cream but this one is oat milk based (I believe!) and so creamy you can't tell. They're always doing unique flavors so there's something new to try. I'm also a sucker for the branding, their shop is bright & colorful featuring different emotions. My favorite flavors are "Easy to Please" which is a vanilla that tastes kinda like lucky charms & "Grumpy & Lumpy" Ube. Tonight I tried the chocolate chip ube cookie sandwich & to be honest when I looked at the thin cookies I didn't have high hopes. But SO came through again, Great flavor & perfectly chewy. Long story short. There's a lot to love here, not the least of which is the wonderful staff. So stop by, eat a cone while taking in Camp North End views or grab a pint to go with your other treats.

I usually hate non-dairy ice cream, but I wanted to try a local spot. I love their unique flavor options. While I can't say I liked this as much as dairy based ice cream, it was very good for non-dairy ice cream.

I have been following them for awhile on Instagram. When showing a visiting family member around Camp North End, I remembered that they were there. We parked (thankfully right near SO) and made a beeline to get some ice cream. Upon entering, they gave us clear directions about the ordering process, which they have down to a science. Unlike most places, you pick your size and pay in advance. Then you choose your flavors. It seems counterintuitive but it actually works! When paying, you can choose to add on a 25 cent charge for sprinkles. If you opt for sprinkles, they give you a quarter that you use to purchase individually packaged sprinkles (chocolate or rainbow) from the vending machine near the door. We were so excited to see that all of the options were dairy-free, gluten-free, and egg-free. But honestly, you would never even know. And they had so many fun flavors with even better names! Everyone was happy with their choices. We will definitely be back! Pro-tip: 1 scoop may not seem like much, but the ice cream is pretty dense and filling! You would be surprised.

Great to see Charlotte get a dairy free and gluten free ice cream shop. To start the location is beautiful and very bright and creative. I got the strawberry flavor at the time I can't remember the name of it, I think I'll need to go back to try again because it didn't quite stand out to me or I'm not sure if it was too sweet. But definitely will try again. One thing I didn't love was I felt the employee at the time was stingy with samples. He just seemed a little annoyed when my friend and I asked for them. Samples are such a fun part of ice cream shops that I hope they improve on that. They were low on sample spoons so maybe that was why but just something to note.

You would never guess this place is dairy-free! The person running the store was super helpful and informative. They had an upbeat attitude and clearly enjoyed assisting first-time diners.

DAiRY FREE iCECREAM. Base is oatmilk and lentils, and you cannot taste the difference. I come here every Thursday with my husband. And we love the constant change of flavors that are "unconventional" for a typical icecream shop. The set up is "different" you pay first then you chose your flavor(s) and a small limited amount of toppings can be purchased at a gumball style machine. Icecream is always: Super creamy, and it comes with a little waffle cone chip. Service is always: Super Friendly

5/5 wow!! Perfect addition to Camp North End Egg, dairy, and gluten free and you would never know. We were greeted immediately with smiles when walking in where the employees started telling us how everything worked. Service was 10/10. This ice cream shop is SO creative, the flavors had fun names, the spoons had little puns on them.. so fun! It was colorful inside as well, ambience also great. I will be back definitely to try more flavors, YUM!

Love this place! Having a kid with so many allergies it's hard to find good ice cream and options. This place is amazing and always greeted with a smile! The employees are always willing to answer questions and help out. The best ice cream we've had (even without having an allergy kid). We buy the pints and stock our freezer so we can enjoy anytime! Summer must for sure!

TREAT YOURSELF My partner and I have been long customers of this amazing 100% egg, dairy, and gluten-free ice cream, which has completely transformed our dessert experience! As someone who is lactose intolerant, finding a non-dairy ice cream that matches the consistency of traditional dairy ice cream has been a challenge. This business has nailed it perfectly. Every flavor we've tried has been incredible, but the Orange Dreamboat and Lumpy and Grumpy are my absolute favorites. The Orange Dreamboat brings back childhood memories of eating orange creamsicles with its refreshing, citrusy burst that is both smooth and creamy. The Lumpy and Grumpy, which uses ube purple yam, offers a unique, delightful blend of flavors that keeps us coming back for more. OMG, it's so delicious! The owners and staff are amazing and super helpful, always making our visits enjoyable. Thank you for taking such good care of my gut with your delicious and thoughtful creations. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and gut-friendly treat!

If I could give zero stars I would. When we came in , we weren't greeted at all. It wasn't busy (probably because we came around 9). Even though that's a clear sign of the poor customer service to come, I ignored it because I had been waiting to try this place for a while. I started looking at the flavors and within 15-20 seconds, I was suddenly no longer invisible and was rudely rushed away from the display case and to the register. I explained to the cashier that I needed to read the flavors (because there isn't a menu displayed) to know if there was anything I liked and for some reason, she couldn't wrap her brain around that logic. And I know scooping ice cream isn't likely a very fulfilling career but, her tone was borderline disgusting during the entire exchange as if she didn't want us to buy anything (I should've taken the hint). I even asked about the ice cream sandwiches but she said telling the flavors would be overwhelming and asked what flavor was I interested in as if it was possible for me to tell her that without looking at the flavors. She could've very easily listed the flavors of ice cream and the available cookie flavors (or the business could post them since the workers don't like for customers to look at the flavors). I just decided to get 2 scoops and I was very disappointed in the lack of flavor. So basically, all that trouble for nothing. To make things worse, the ice cream started melting almost immediately. It was a mess before I could make it to my car. It also didn't agree with my stomach so, b/w that and the quick melting, I'm going to assume that this particular batch wasn't kept at the proper temperature. A waste of time and money unfortunately.

Finding good dairy free ice is rare. Finding great ones, from great people, made locally is a real treat. From the branding, flavor options, and the location of the new shop, everything has been crafted to create a pleasant experience. I can't wait to have a steady supply of their ice cream.

Can't believe there aren't a ton of reviews about this spot! They offer ALL dairy free ice cream - amazing! This is a dream. The shop is small, but they offer a dozen different flavors. It was hard to choose but I selected paper cup love notes - a latte coffee ice cream, I loved it.

Great place for gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free ice cream. Gary was amazing!! Helped direct our choices. And when I couldn't decide, he gave me my 2nd choice on the house!! Refreshing, creamy, tasty!! We'll be back.

So delicious I can't tell it's dairy free. The only ice cream I have tried that offers original flavors like pistachio and Oreo where the ice cream tastes just like the regular version, although slightly healthier. I got the butter pecan and Oreo, and my friend got the matcha and chocolate. Every flavor was absolutely delicious. A gem in camp north end - definitely check them out!

Gluten Free!! Vegan!! All the things. This place is not to be missed and worth the trip to camp north end (check out all their awesome neighbors while you're there - you won't be disappointed) Back to the ice cream - seemingly overzealous does an amazing job of making high quality ice cream in a wide variety of delicious flavors that will delight even the most discerning palates. Especially amazing for those of us used to "sitting this one out "while our friends or family enjoy their treat. This place sets the bar high not just for dairy free Ice cream, but all Ice cream.

What the fact that this is gluten-free basically great for vegan people who I have over once in a while it's nice to have an ice cream. I can give them. They rotate the flavors a lot which is great cause you get to try a lot of different flavors all the time.

The workers are always friendly & inviting. Anytime a new flavor drops, they do a great job at explaining the nuances in the flavor. My favorite flavors thus far are the Cant All Be Cookie (Cookies & Cream), Unnamed Experiment #7 (Ube), & Never Tear Us Apart (Butter Pecan). I also love that majority of the flavors are dairy & egg free without compromising on the creamy richness of ice cream. The inside design is well thought and they partnered with a local artist to paint their back wall. The playful theme pairs nicely with the ice cream shop brining youthful memories to mind.

Just ate a double scoop of cherry limeade and "this is the life". Loved it! High, high quality food craftsmanship here. I haven't ever had good dairy-free ice cream until this place. The server was really conscientious and asked "which scoop on top?" Honestly every ice cream place should ask that. Will definitely be back.

The ice cream here is splendid. The mint chocolate chip ice cream tastes like fresh mint leaves and the strawberry ice cream was not over sweetened the way so many others are. This was a definite win for date night! The staff is knowledgeable and can assist you with flavors and avoiding any allergens.

This place y'all it's so good. I am dairy free and gluten free and never had an issue because it's ALL DF/GF!!! The cinnamon swirl ice cream is so good and the cookie dough one too. They change the flavors a lot so you can check before you go on their website.

The scoops are really big, so I recommend just getting one scoop or two half scoops to make one whole but with different flavors. I'm not sure what the special thing is about this ice cream shop, but I liked the ice cream. The flavors were different from a traditional cookies and cream and vanilla, but overall it was good. Also the service was great! They were really friendly and helpful. If you want to do a taste test, just ask them so you don't commit to a flavor that you thought might work but actually doesn't.

"If you had handed me this and hadn't said anything, no way would I guess this was non-dairy." -my husband I searched Yelp for the best ice cream in Charlotte and then hopped over to the menu to see if I, a vegan, could eat anything. Imagine my surprise when I discovered I could eat everything! I didn't tell my family that it was non-dairy... just rolled up! Everything was delicious! I rarely get more than one flavor option at an ice cream shop, if I'm even so lucky as that. I couldn't decide amongst a ton of flavors! My choices, banana pecan maple and cookie dough, were excellent. My husband loved his coffee and golden milk. We are headed back inside to get a pint!

I'm a dairy free girly because I have allergies so it's hard to get ice cream, especially in fun flavors but every so often I get a win and this was one of them. I got the lemon lavender and earl grey flavors and they were SO GOOD! Super soft and creamy. The people at the shop were also very nice and the owner was there answering questions and scooping ice cream. A lot of love definitely went into this place. Great vibes. I'm excited to come back.

The absolute best ice cream spot in Charlotte. Dairy free and flat out amazing. Incredible flavors and they always have something new to try. Garrett and Jess are the nicest people and so proud of their shop, as they should be. Every detail of the store is intentional and meticulous from the fun merch to the glittery floors. My fam has been an embarrassing amount of times already and will be big fans for years to come :)

We were passing through Charlotte on a long road trip and I'm so happy I found this place. My daughters and I are plant-based and we very rarely eat ice cream. This is BY FAR THE BEST vegan ice cream I've ever had AND they have vegan WAFFLE CONES!! I had strawberry ice cream and highly recommend it. There lots of other delicious flavors and you can sample them to find your favorite. I will be planning a trip next year that requires driving through Charlotte so we can go back!! We also ended up eating falafel for dinner next door which was so convenient. They have shared couches outside. The whole experience was perfect!
