Kellee Edwards Talks Travel As a Black Woman, Going Solo, and Meeting New People

"I want people to know that I ate for free the entire trip. They fed me from their family restaurants, that one and the one across town. I had the most beautiful experience with this family. They were so welcoming to me." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Everything was just as we wanted. Authentic Turkish cuisine. My wife and I had a wonderful time. The food was cooked exactly as we wanted. We experienced a feast of flavors. Located in the Sirkeci district of Istanbul, a place where you'll experience culture and elegance together. The Seher family and staff were friendly. They offered us a complimentary cold appetizer. After dinner, they offered us Turkish baklava and Turkish tea. The refreshments were very thoughtful. I recommend it without hesitation. 🙏 Thank you very much.

I wanted to try claypot meat and I saw they had it, a simple meal that hits the spot in a pinch. The show is cool too. Overpriced perhaps but it’s in the touristy area so I didn’t care, just wanted a decent meal and be able to sit down and use the bathroom.

Amazing food, we came for the reviews and it did not disappoint! Good portions and everything was delicious! Very authentic and good quality food. They gave us tea and baklava at the end, we had a great experience.

The atmosphere was cool, and music was played. Free wifi. There were so many food choices. My husband and I were celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary. The hummus was tasty, as was the Donna-kabob. The local beer was cool, tasty, and different. It was a break from the ordinary.

At first, we thought it was a tourist trap. It was quiet, and we were the only guests there. They gave us a starter, Turkish tea, and baklava free of charge. The food was amazing, and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely come back.

The food was good, well seasoned and grilled. Pita was good. One of our lamb chops was undercooked. The chicken testi was a nice show, and the ottoman kebab was a lot of food and also presented as a show with sparklers. Service was another story, they were generally respectful and grateful for our patronage during meal service, but they forgot about our drink orders. The BIG negative was during the very end when we were checking out. Be aware this restaurant hassles tourists for cash payments. My party didn't have enough cash, despite that, the waiter tried to pressure us into going to an ATM to withdraw cash. They claimed the card machine was broken, like many other reviews. However, we stayed firm and threatened leaving without paying if they couldn't fix their machine. Miraculously, they managed to fix their machine to collect payment. Isn't it great to have such a skilled repair man who also moonlights as a waiter? Edit: to the restaurant's reply: don't lie to your customer and say the card machine is broken. Start with offering a cash payment discount, and if the customer declines and wishes to pay by card, don't pressure them to go to an ATM to get cash. That's basic human decency and just good customer service, you win if they take the discount, and the customer is happy you offered. Pushing is always going to get you negative reviews.
