Picnic by the Seine. On the Ile de la Cité you’ll find a few shops to get wine, bread and cheese and then walk down a few steps to eat right on the river bank.

It was my first time on the Seine River Cruise, and I highly recommend taking a sunset cruise to see the Eiffel Tower's twinkling lights at night. You get to enjoy both the daylight and nighttime views, which are stunning and different from each other. I went in September 2023, and the weather was really nice.

The Seine River is a charming spot, offering peaceful views and a lovely atmosphere. Whether by boat or walking along its banks, it’s a perfect way to experience the heart of Paris.

One of the best ways to experience Paris is from the water, and a Seine River cruise is an absolute must—especially for unforgettable views of the Eiffel Tower. The cruise offers a relaxing ride through the heart of the city, passing by iconic landmarks like Notre-Dame, the Louvre, and charming bridges like Pont Alexandre III. But the standout moment is when the Eiffel Tower comes into view. Seeing it from the river, framed by the Parisian skyline, is simply breathtaking. The perspective from the water gives you a unique and unobstructed view of the Tower that you just can’t get from the streets. It’s perfect for taking photos—or just taking it all in. The ride is smooth, scenic, and gives you a sense of the city’s layout and beauty.

Walking along the Seine River in Paris is a delightful activity for your family’s December visit, offering stunning views and a magical atmosphere for your son. The UNESCO World Heritage-listed riverbanks stretch from the Eiffel Tower to Notre-Dame, showcasing iconic landmarks like the Louvre, Pont Alexandre III, and Île de la Cité. The pedestrian-only Berges de Seine (Left Bank) and Parc Rives de Seine (Right Bank) span 7 km, featuring wide, stroller-friendly paths, playgrounds, and climbing walls—perfect for kids. In December, festive lights and Christmas markets near Pont Neuf add holiday charm, though dress warmly for chilly 0°C to 5°C weather. Start at Pont d’Iéna by the Eiffel Tower for photo ops, then stroll eastward, passing bouquinistes (booksellers) and cozy cafés like Le Bonaparte. The Pont des Arts offers romantic views, ideal for family selfies. Allow 3-5 hours to explore at a leisurely pace, with breaks at kid-friendly spots like Champs de Mars carousel. The Batobus (hop-on-hop-off boat) is a fun alternative if legs tire. Crowds peak midday, so morning walks are quieter. Pair with a Notre-Dame visit for a memorable, family-friendly Parisian adventure.

The Seine River Cruise was an enchanting way to experience the beauty of Paris from a unique perspective. Gliding along the calm waters of the Seine, I was captivated by the breathtaking views of the city’s iconic landmarks, each illuminated in its own grandeur. The cruise offered a perfect blend of relaxation and discovery. Seeing landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the Louvre from the river provided a new appreciation for their architectural splendor. Passing under the historic bridges, especially Pont Alexandre III, was a delightful experience, as each had its own story and charm. The ambiance on board was serene and romantic, enhanced by the soft lighting and gentle breeze. For those who choose the evening cruises, the city truly lives up to its name as the “City of Lights.” Watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle while floating on the Seine was a moment I’ll never forget. The staff was courteous, and the audio guide provided fascinating insights into the history and significance of the landmarks. Everything was well-organized, from boarding to the duration of the cruise, making the experience seamless and enjoyable. I’d highly recommend the Seine River Cruise to anyone visiting Paris. Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening, a relaxing escape, or a new way to explore the city, this cruise is a must-do. My only regret is not doing it sooner!

Yelp
We enjoyed a most delightful 7 day Seine River cruise on a Gate1 Travel river cruise ship, their Monarch Countess.  We also spent 2 more days in Paris at the end and enjoyed other various Seine River scenes along the way.   The Seine is a major winding river way and we apparently went through 6 locks on the way out from Paris to the town of Caudebec-en-Caux in Normandy.  The water level was perfect for cruising (not too low and not too high) and in a quite fortuitous streak we also enjoyed 10 straight days in April here with nary a drop of rain!

Yelp
La Seine, Paris So beautiful to walk along the Seine River just enjoying the views after a few days at the Paris Olympics. The Seine River is 483 miles long. Starting in the north of France, it drains to the Paris Basin flowing from Paris to the English Channel. So easy to explore bridges along the river. In Paris alone, there are 37 bridges. So nice to explore.

Yelp
Beautiful Day, beautiful tour. We bought the 1 hour Seine River Cruise via GetYourGuide with Bateaux Parisiens, ticket is open ended so you can just show up and go on next cruise. BIG ship, expect large crowd, this is not a personal river cruise, but views and narration were great. Sailed by all the famous landmarks, Paris is such a beautiful city !!

Yelp
A beautiful river that runs through the heart of Paris. We walked along the banks, enjoying the views and street artists nearby. Lots of little river cruises are available but people are packed shoulder to shoulder on those boats, so we opted to walk the Seine instead.

Yelp
The best deal I had on this trip was the 8 Euros I spent for an hour cruise on the Seine. I was treated to a different view of the outstanding landscape and historic buildings that perch along this famous river. Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower. If you can get a seat towards the front of the vessel, it is beneficial for taking photographs without people in your frame. There are many businesses that offer dinner cruises, lunch cruises, two river cruises, evening light cruises For me, nothing is better than experiencing these sites on a beautiful day in an open topped vessel.

Yelp
Soooooooooooo pretty!!!! This river is gorgeous- for the most part. La Seine River flows all through Paris. It's beautiful. The water and nature surrounding it. You could see many of the major sights seeing from the river. We walked along the seine river too and it's very pretty. Plenty of trees to stay in the shade. This river is exciting to see. There were a couple areas though, with homeless people in tents. I get that every city has homelessness. But seeing that makes the river seem a big trashy. Overall, a beautiful river.
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
We had a dinner cruise along the Seine. It was nice to go people watching seeing them do the things I usually just see in the movies. I saw a lot of people dancing by the river. Some were couples and some were teens dancing hip hop. Pick the perfect time between daylight and sunset so you can watch the "Illumination" of La Tour Eiffel on the way back.

Yelp
ONLY IN PARIS ! On Tuesday, Oct 3rd....just our 2nd day in Paris my wife and I decided to walk from our apartment in Rue Daguerre to the River Seine. DAY OFF ! In fact it was the only day of our one week vacation in Paris that we didn't have a guided tour on or tickets to visit somewhere. We headed off from our apartment at around 11am on a truly beautiful day. THE BUILDINGS ! All along the route we took there were amazing things to admire....the French architecture is stunning. SHOPS ! Whenever we saw a gift shop or clothing store that interested us we stopped for a look...sometimes buying stuff. SO MUCH TO SEE ! The approx 2 mile walk to the River Seine took us about 2 hours but we were in no hurry. It was all about seeing the beauty of Paris. When we finally arrived at the river we could see river boats filled with tourists cruising up and down....a wonderful sight ! The incredible art museum Musee d'Orsay is right on the Seine.....what an impressive looking building. We tried to book an evening dinner cruise on the Seine for a night later in the week but everyone was totally booked out...a lesson learned. GREAT FOOD ! In the end we enjoyed a very nice lunch at Les Deux Musees virtually right on the Seine. Finally at about 3pm we hailed a taxi to take us back to our apartment in Rue Daguerre. A TOTALLY FUN DAY ! NOTE - Of course with about 20 million views of my Yelp reviews and pics world wide in 2023 I can tell you what is great !

Yelp
This famous river flows from east to west through the heart of the city and divides Paris's Left Bank and Right Bank. We crossed the river numerous times over scenic pedestrian bridges. The left bank from our hotel to Norte Dame was scenic, the other side of the river had tents, piles of garbage & homeless. Lots of tour boats went up & down the river.

Yelp
The Seine is a 472 mile long river flowing through Paris. I had the opportunity to visit Paris and I was very happy to see the river up close. There's not much to say about this experience. I enjoyed my time near the river and the Paris views. It's clean. There's activities for recreational and tour boats. I love seeing the barges. I'm an Aquarius. I enjoy being near the water. I really enjoy being near the river. Any river! Like any body of water the Seine has a history of flooding. I wouldn't want to live too close! It's a nice river to visit. When you visit Paris I suggest you take a walk along the Seine River.

Yelp
"Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while..." - The Princess Bride. I fell in love with her... La Seine River in Paris. Not the prettiest river I've encountered in this lifetime, but timeless history, objets d'art, and romance at sunset sets it apart. The history resonates walking La Seine... you feel the Medieval darkness to the Renaissance light. You cry for the eternal ashes of Jeanne d'Arc. You hear the battle cries of Napoléon. In more recent times La Seine was the destination for the elite American Airborne of WWII - reaching her would help liberate Paris and all of France! Liberté! Liberté! The tragedy of the '61 Paris Massacre started at Pont Saint-Michel and ended for many in her. My gift to you: La Seine has been the subject of famous impressionist paintings, including Monet's Bathers at La Grenouillere and Renoir's Seine River at Asnieres. La Seine is inevitable if in Paris... she draws you to her. Musée du Louvre; La Eiffel; Notre Dame all share her. In the daylight Parisians picnic with wine and baguettes. Tourists come at all hours for that one perfect photo op. Vendors call her home. As well as the wels catfish and grey heron. Children play, lovers hold hands, and La Seine continues living for another day... Je t'aime!

Yelp
When I saw the River La Siene, I thought it was the loveliest sight and there is so much to see in Paris. I came by day, then again at sunset and later back at night. Strolling along the waterfront and watching the boats pass underneath. I may be bias as I am drawn to all bodies of water, but this one is a beautiful reflection of the city around it.

Yelp
While I was in town only for a short time for a work trip, we tried to maximize our stay as much as possible. Following a few work meetings, we took a quick break to stroll along the Seine after visiting the Arc de Triomphe and it was lovely. A great spot to grab some fresh air, see the slights, people watch and let time roll by. J'aime Paris!

Yelp
Paris is one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world. Last year, was my first time in Paris. This is the city center of arts and culture. There are numerous epic landmarks including the River La Seine. It's worth taking the river cruise so you can take in the gorgeous scenery. We booked the Eiffel tour which includes the River La Seine cruise. This was one of the highlights of our Paris excursion. We captured some gorgeous views of the Eiffel Tower and the Notre-Dame Cathedral. The cruise took about an hour or so and will pass several of the famous bridges. After the cruise, you take a tour down the river walk or check out the Louvre. We had an amazing boat tour and can check it off the to do list when in Paris!
google avatar

Yelp
Severely epic views with unpaired food I'd say. The food tries to be there, just misses the mark. Don't get me wrong, it's not like the food was bad or anything just hard to match the views this cruise provides. Overall, the service is okay. Had an extremely immature couple right beside us which also killed a vibe. Overall, I'd rate this a mid tier dinner cruise.

Yelp
Breathtaking! Did not get to do a boat tour but I did get to walk along the Seine a couple of times during my vacation and each time was so relaxing. My favourite fun fact about the Seine is the statue of a man called Zouave that serves the purpose of warning the city about possible floods. If he gets his feet wet, prepare for higher than normal water levels. He's located on Pont de l'Alma and if you don't know about this fact, the statue looks really out of place. It is not centered and there are not any signs that explain who he is or what the statue is doing there (or at least I did not find it). The reason it is not centered is actually because there used to be 4.

Yelp
One of my favorite things to do in Paris is to cruise along the La Seine river and take pictures of Paris. There are several Seine river boat tours that you can book tickets for. My personal favorite is the Bateaux-Mouches because this is an uncovered double-decker boat so you can take amazing pictures of the Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Conciergerie, the Louvre, Pont Alexandre III, and the Musée d'Orsay. The boat ride lasts a little over an hour and costs €13.5 per adult. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Compagnie des Bateaux-Mouches kiosk (Pont de l'Alma), where the boat departs and returns. http://www.bateaux-mouches.fr/en/reservation/tickets TIP: Sunset is the ideal time to take the cruise because as it gets darker you will see the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower. For the best pictures sit on the left side of the upper deck. The boat turns around after Ile St Louis so the Eiffel Tower will be in all of your photos as you return. Also be sure to check out some of the 37 bridges that span across the La Seine river. The most beautiful and famous bridges include Pont de la Tournelle (links the Left Bank to Île Saint-Louis), Pont Marie (built in 1670, one of the oldest bridges in Paris), Pont au Double (cast iron bridge, originally built in 1626), Pont au Change (links Île Saint-Louis to the right bank and bears the initials of Napoleon), Pont Neuf (oldest bridge of Paris (1607) crosses the Île de la Cité), Pont des Arts (medieval-looking footbridge), Pont Alexandre III (beautiful bridge named after the Tsar of Russia), Passerelle Debilly (pedestrian bridge that offers great views of the Eiffel Tower), and the Pont d'Iéna (historic monument that links the Trocadero to the Eiffel Tower and Champ-de-Mars).

Yelp
During my trip to Paris I was able to take a river cruise on the Seine. Luckily the weather was pretty good on the date I went. I sat on top deck to take in all the sights. This is a great way to see Paris from a new angle. It's also very relaxing. The workers were very friendly and spoke about 6 different languages when pointing out different sights we were seeing as we crossed landmarks on the river. It was a really nice relaxing start to my morning. This is located directly near the Eiffel Tower.
google avatar

Cassandra Y.

Yelp
You will see River Seine quite often when you do the sightseeing in Paris. Many bridges in the city. For example, at Eiffel Tower, Musee Orsay, Notre-Dame, etc. I am sure during summer time, the boat ride will be nice. The river is quite clean, didn't see much garbage. At the Eiffel Tower, there is a stop for the river cruise tour.
google avatar

Alexander H.

Yelp
A good walk! We just visited the Eiffel Tower and felt like a walk. Also because we travel with our dog (since it's difficult finding a transportation which allows pets in Paris). It's a nice walk along the Seine. Not difficult and with good stops for pics (you pass points of interest like the "Pont Alexandre III", the "Jardin des Tuileries" etc.). We started on the southern side of the Seine. But it was very windy that day and dust kept flying into our faces. We decided to walk on the other side, which was a lot better. Some parts are a bit unexciting, but all in all if you are visiting the Eiffel Tower and want to go to the Louvre (or the other way around), it is a rewarding stroll and you really don't need a taxi, metro or bus to do that. One way was enough though :)

Yelp
Seine River is an extensively long river in Paris. Perfect place to take pictures near the river, the 30 something bridges on it, as well as the trees near it. If you have time, make sure to do one of the boat rides. There are a few different companies which do a 1-2 hour tours with or without food options. They have day tours as well as evening/ night tours on the boats. You can learn more about the monuments which you pass in the boat ride. And of-course you will see the Eiffel Tower from many different angles. I opted to go on the boat ride in the evening on the seine river. It was nice to see all the city lights from the river. It gets super chilly/cold in November and the onward winter months so don't forget to take your coat and scarf. Even if you do not get to go on the boat ride at least pass by the magnificent seine river, it's 1-2 miles walking distance from the Eiffel Tower.
google avatar

Mimi J.

Yelp
If you come to Paris, you must go here! Seeing the river from afar is so much more different than actually walking it. I walked along the river during the day and night, and it's very safe. There are a few bridges that connect the city, and the atmosphere is very relaxed; you can sit near the water and dangle your feet, or have a picnic! I even saw a swan on the river, which was beautiful.
google avatar

Lisa T.

Yelp
Come here if you want to take a boat ride down the famous Seine River to enjoy all the breathtaking views or just come walk along the river, you will find many local artist displays of artwork you can buy. Or grab some wine, cheese, and baguette and sit along the river and just people watch. It's a great place to enjoy the day and take in Paris.
google avatar

Ashley F.

Yelp
It's a river...that you can walk along...with loved ones? Idk, it was a bit underwhelming since most of the world seems to romanticize this body of water in which boats travel on sometimes. For most of the trip, we were driving alongside it and I guess I could see the appeal since it is near a lot of beautiful stuff, but it really wasn't breathtaking. It was one of those things where we were walking and searching for something and realized "Oh hey! This is the Seine! Cool, moving on."
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Beautiful, lots of views and probably the most recognized item within the city of Paris. The Seine River provides you with some fantastic vantage points of the city and its bridges are fantastic in nearly all facets. There are several dining options that run up the Seine and even river cruised that can take you on tours of the city. The only downside to this particular River is that it's not the cleanest thing on earth and I wouldn't necessarily recommend swimming in it lol. Overall, a great River in a beautiful city.
google avatar

Alina P.

Yelp
A wonderful sightseen from Paris. Just amazing how much beauty there is around the whole city. From everywhere around the river you can discover yourself in a magical place. You can enjoy La Seine from a boat or walk tour, and over the Voltaire street you can see the wonderful Institute of France in front while you wait for the bus or your touristic bus. Also you have the Louvre Museum only 5 minutes away and there are a lot of tours by boat and many restaurants and coffee shops at the edge.
google avatar

Lianna N.

Yelp
What a great piece of living here in Paris. Enjoyed taking a 1 hour river cruise to enjoy the many unique bridges, and also wandering along the sides. Full of locals and tourists and very serene. I would totally mark off some of your trip to enjoy the river in some form or another, the boat tour we took was affordable at 15 euro and a lot of fun. There was a kiosk computer to order the tickets at the base of the Seine right at the Eiffel Tower bridge (north/across the bridge from the merry-go-round side) and the tour leaves every hour.
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
The Seine is Paris as much as Paris is the Seine. For such an iconic river that intertwines and is attached to a bountiful amount of landmarks, famous historical sights, beautiful bridges, kiosks selling gorgeous prints and souvenirs, boats, water - the graffiti has ruined the natural and architectural beauty of the Seine. It's sad and it's tragic. While the Seine still has a lot of panache, ugly graffiti spoils everything.
google avatar

Roger A.

Yelp
We were looking forward to taking a cruise, but all the boats were not available because the river was too high from January storms. But La Seine is a gorgeous part of Paris and picture opportunities are everywhere!!! I believe there are 37 bridges in Paris and they are all great photo ops. --------------------- There are some spots where you can take some steps down to the water and walk along.
google avatar

christin f.

Yelp
The seine is absolutely stunning and you'll find yourself drawn to it throughout your trip. Just walking along the river and hanging out on the old and lively bridges is worth the trip to paris alone!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm surprised I've never got round to reviewing La Seine yet, after my visit to Paris last year, the capital of France. La Seine is a beautiful, amazing river right in the french capital and it actually 777 kilometres long and it does have access points throughout Paris, where you can go on rides or "cruises" across the river etc, unfortunately none of which seem wheelchair accessible. Walking around the Seine, does seem slightly dirty on the pavement so that's a shame, it just doesn't seem nice especially when compared to the river, there's lots of rundown cafes and basically nowhere to get a good bite or even get out of the complex for quite a while, which is one of the main reasons I'm struggling to grade La Seine with a rating. Overall, it is a really nice river to have in Paris but due to factors due to the surroundings and other points mentioned in this review, means sadly I can't warrant anything over a high two star rating for La Seine.
google avatar

Monica S.

Yelp
If you're short on time and need a quick overview of Parisian architecture and history, come for the cruise to get a guided or audio tour. Along the river, you'll see most if not all the iconic monuments and buildings (Eiffel Tower, Louvre, etc.) in the city. The best time to ogle at the Parisian skyline is in the evening during which lights are turned on, but if you want to take good pictures along the river, definitely come here during the daytime. Pro tip: Take a selfie stick with you!
google avatar

Cameron B.

Yelp
Whether cruising down the river on one of the various boat tours or simply enjoying a pic-nic along the banks of the river, this is one of the most romantic and underrated attractions in Paris. I recommend spending an afternoon walking or dining along the banks until the sun sets, then cruising down the river to view Paris at night.
google avatar

Yonnie C.

Yelp
As we walked along the La Seine River, there were some rickshaws for hire. So, we took one and paid 9euro or so, to take us to the Orsay Museum. It's fun to stroll along the river, take in the sights, do some people watching, souvenir shopping, and also make your way over to Pont des Arts Bridge. :) Just don't recommend swimming in the river; looks very dirty/mucky.
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
A beautiful river that you can either go on a boat on or just simply stroll along. If you don't appreciate this Parisian landmark I think you would have to be declared In Seine?
google avatar

Brenda L.

Yelp
I highly recommend doing a Seine River tour! They are typically an hour long with the return trip being a little faster because the boat speeds up. Despite this seeming touristy, it is a fast/great/affordable way to see a lot of different historical points along the Seine. You'll see picnickers, wildlife, the Eiffel tower, Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe, Musee d'Orsay, Sainte Chapelle and much more. Many of the boat tours have indoor/outdoor seating options and an audio guide (in various languages) to help point out areas of interest, as well as historical facts. The Seine is a wonderful spot to find a bench/grassy area to picnic and enjoy Paris's beautiful spring weather. Along the river, there are areas where you might find dog walkers, skateboarders, artists, etc. This waterway is depicted in so many pieces of art, poetry, and literature. It was surreal both times I went to France to see it. If you want a beautiful dining experience, find one of the many restaurants on boats floating along the sides of this waterway. Some stay stationed during dining but some actually move.

Yelp
One of my favorite memories from our recent trip to Paris was simply walking across the river Seine and gazing back at such a beautiful city. Bonus tip: The bridge called 'Pont Alexandre III' is the most beautiful to walk across at night!

Yelp
What better tour guide than a river. Doesn't talk a lot, but sounds rather pleasant. Can be moody, but is usually straightforward. While I used public transportation for a bit of my trip through Paris, I did decide to take a long winding scenic route following La Seine to the Eiffel Tower. It was indeed a long, long walk.. but no regrets. I saw a lot of cool stuff getting to just walk the city and with La Seine, I didn't get lost. Pretty much everything I wanted to see as a tiny tourist was close to the river or if not, it was followed up with enough monuments to get from one spot to another. There are lots of great things to see by the river though. The booksellers and their booths full of old books and posters, the Louvre is easy to get to, Notre Dame isn't exactly by the river, but you can find it nearby, the Eiffel Tower cannot be missed when following it, and a so many other ornamental bridges and structures. If you do happen to get tired of walking, there are lots of bus stops and taxis a long the way, also, several boat tours. I imagine the scenic walk is nice if you wanted to do a little picnicking as well and the walk follows a major road, but has plenty of sidewalk space and trees. If you're feeling leisurely and not interested in the usual tour group adventure then it's worth a consideration. Given it was winter it wasn't overly crowded with people and there were plenty of small shops a long the way. Thank you La Seine for a lovely tour of Paris.~

Ted Q.

Yelp
A River Runs Through It How does one review a river? Is it beautiful? Can one swim in it? Does it provide a means of transportation? I'm not sure any of those matter. When one is near the Seine, one is in Paris. Ah, Paris...
google avatar

Dwain C.

Yelp
I don't do too many reviews of rivers but on 7/11/2013 I took a riverboat ride on the Seine (how many stars do you give a river?). As I was told, it is a great way to to view Paris. Plus, I took photos.

Yelp
Rain, snow or shine it's a must see! I can't wait to see the flood that the rain brought in! I heard it's pretty amazing

Yelp
Very scenic. We love walking along Le seine river. There are a lot to see along the river. We do frequent stops to take photos along the walk

Yelp
I recently had a whopping 8 hour layover at CDG on my way back to the States, so I decided to make the most of my midday break. I stored my luggage with Bagages du Monde in Terminal 2, hopped on the train, and headed into town. This was a definite whirlwind day, with me attempting to maximize the big sites, seeing as it was my only time in Paris thus far. I got off the metro, stepped out, and boom! I was right in front of the Eiffel Tower. How cool! Look, I'm a heavy traveler and while I'm generally sort of meh on big touristy sites. . . c'mon, it's the Eiffel Tower! And it was right there! I walked along the Seine for a while. I'd stop, take in the view, take some photos, then slowly walk on. I eventually crossed the river at Pont d'iena in front of the Eiffel Tower, then walked down the river before eventually wandering down various streets and making my way to the Arc de Triomphe. It really was a lovely way to spend an afternoon and I highly, highly suggest it. Also, I was a single female and felt perfectly safe the entire time. Yes, there are panhandlers and scammers-- just tell them no, ignore them, whatever. Several that came up to me led with, "Do you speak English?" to which I said, "Absolutely not." I walked off as they sat bewildered. A firm no and a glaring b-face will get you far in world travels, let me tell you.

Yelp
We were drawn to the banks of the Seine from the moment we arrived in Paris. Prior to our arrival, there was heavier than normal rains, and parts of the walkway along its banks were submerged, however, views from the streets are as stunning. We walked from our hotel (near Notre Dame Cathedral) along the banks (where we could) and there were always people along its shores. The river itself was flowing very fast and was an unappealing brown color, but I believe that was from sediment washed into it from the rains. One evening, strolling back to Notre Dame from the Eiffel Tower, we walked the lower banks...there were people everywhere. Groups of friends gathered sharing a bottle of wine, to musicians singing or playing the latest hits, to vendors peddling their wares, to lovers staring into each other's eyes, to people just enjoying the beauty of the river, others just people watching..it certainly adds a sense of adventure to your visit. It's truly magical to walk along the banks of the Seine at midnight and encounter so many people enjoying its shores. Several of the bridges that cross the Seine allow locks to be adhered to its handrails. You're supposed to engrave (or write) the name of you and your loved one, lock it to a spot over the river, and toss the key into the waters of the Seine. It symbolizes everlasting love. How romantic is that?

Yelp
What can you say about this beautiful river and the surrounding neighborhoods? It's so relaxing and serene around this area that you have to wonder what it would take to move here yourself.

Yelp
A lot of homeless people sleep near the river, really not a safe spot. The water is also murky and dirty looking. The river is adorned with touristy cafes and busy people. Not as nice as people say it is.

Yelp
One of my fondest memories of Paris was taking a rest here before walking a mile to dinner. Lots of shops and restaurants surround this beautiful landmark and close proximity to some of the smaller museums. We were able to take some breathtaking photos. A recommended site.

Yelp
over due review from our summer 2015 visit. Our experience of the River Seine was via a 1+ hour cruise on the bateaux mouches cruise. The ride along the River Seine was relaxing and had tremendous views for many different sites or Paris...
