Sel De Mer

This is a very cozy spot in Brooklyn. The service is always great. Even though I'm not a vegetarian, I usually go for the tofu scramble plate during brunch. I love the flavor of that coconut curry sauce they pour over tofu, peppers, and spinach on top of a warm English muffin. The home fries and side salad are nice accompaniment to the whole dish. Overall, a place I enjoy and will definitely return to in the future.

When this restaurant first opened, it was amazing. Overflowing bowls of mussels, delicious, perfectly prepared fish, great service and value. Today, very sad to say it has gone down hill. Not sure if they can't handle the traffic or if they've just become too cocky, but it takes an eternity for the food to come out, portions are tiny and unimpressive. Sad to see this once neighborhood favorite lose it's allure.

a constant special, the whole lobster, at $18, is an amazing deal and done perfectly. the whole fish and other fish dishes are lovely, as well. a very cute place for a date. pulling apart a lobster is a ton of fun in such a nice place too!

I do like this place and I think it's reasonably priced for what you get, but I feel like there's some room for improvement. The menu itself is pretty small, which is fine, and there are a lot of daily specials. But I wish that they would have a web site that lists the daily specials, so that you could know ahead of time what to expect (I see they list a web site on here, but it has never worked for me). Best thing I ever had there was a special that, sadly, never returned. Also, they used to bring out really tasty bread and butter that had chunky sea salt on it. They don't seem to do that any more.

Quaint little seafood shop in an area that was really missing seafood. Cozying up to the bar with some wine and shellfish is undeniably romantic.

Great fish, could be better managed and less pricey, lousy French fries.... but overall worth it.
