Google
A friend recommended this place and I am so glad I had the opportunity to enjoy food here. A tiny corner of Japan, with delicious sushi and smaller warm plates made in front of you. I was with my wife and we shared shrimp gyoza and a set menu of 20 sushi pieces. Everything was fantastic, from the quality of the ingredients to their presentation. Incredibly friendly staff too, and a nice outdoor seating in a relatively quiet street in central Copenhagen. Really recommended!

My first comment on Google map, cause their food deserves a five star🤩🤩💫 All fish are very fresh. I barely eat tuna due to the sour and fishy taste. But the tuna from Selfish doesn’t have any weird taste. It’s actually beyond my expectation. Wanna try their Otoro and bluefin next time. Regarding the sushi rice, it is exactly what I want. Not too sticky, not too hard. I can eat 30 pieces myself! Chefs there are both kind and sweet, very good at their job. Thank you for your food and see you soon🌸

Very fresh and nice sushi place. I love the large lunch set, which comes with diverse components and super good rice. I would like to revisit to try other dishes

I don't frequently write reviews but had to make an exception for the truly stellar meal I had at Selfish Sushi a few weeks ago. Was visiting Copenhagen for the first time, and after being turned away from my intended Saturday lunchtime location, turned out to be a major blessing in disguise as it led me to unexpectedly trying out Selfish Sushi. Very welcoming staff and cozy dining area. Ordered a variety of rolls and you can instantly tell that all of the fish are incredibly fresh. Specifically the tuna was some of the best that I have ever had! Certainly will be near the top of my list for any and every time I visit Copenhagen in the future!

One of my most favourite places in Copenhagen. Great tastes and selection in menus. Don’t miss specials - fried chicken is very great. And such a quick, friendly service for the quality they offer. I can’t recommend it more.

A humble indie-looking sushi store with fresh and delicious sushi 👍🏻 Owner looks slightly grumpy but efficient. We ordered large lunch sushi set and it was pretty good!

We had a large sushi platter and vegetarian dumpling for sharing between two people. The portion size was OK, but we found the rice to be served too warm to our preference. Compared to other sushi experiences, we have never had it this warm before and thus a bit unusual to us. Not sure if it was a one-off, or if this is how sushi is made at Selfish. The fish seemed fresh and tasted nice, besides two slices of what we thought may have been tuna steak that was slightly grilled to the surface. It was a little chewy and had an off flavour. The vegetarian dumpling was unfortunately a little bland og hard to distinguish the flavors of the filling, it was more like a flavourless vegetable mash. The restaurant space is small with only a few tables. We had a table outside, on street level. It is hard to rate atmosphere, as both the indoor and outdoor space is very plain, nothing special or unique. Sitting outside you must enjoy watching people and traffic close up. Service was great and the staff was very friendly.

Google
Stumbled upon this place for lunch, and turned out to be the best sushi I've had in a long time. Really fresh ingredients, great tasting fish, warm and authentic rice. It was perfect. Really really good. Operated by a Japanese couple. They're nice and friendly. And the chef looks like he definitely knows his stuff. We had the lunch menu and didn't choose our sushi, I guess it was like chef's choice but doesn't matter because it was all great. If you're in the area, don't miss this place. I wish I stayed closer so I can order again. I just cannot stress enough what a pleasant surprise it was to eat here almost by accident and I still think about the taste of the sushi today. Really great job!

Yelp
Made an account just to make this. Best sushi I ever eaten and the chef is not only extremely kind but also extremely talented. I loved this place and if I ever visit Copenhagen I will come back.

Yelp
Good sushi and many kinds of Japanese sake. I never see so many different kinds in Europe. He has special sake behind the counter.

Yelp
Then it comes that day of the month, when you cannot help but dreaming about a huge portion of fresh sushi and you wont stop until Just Eat DK delivers it at yor place. I'm a sushi lover, I've always been and I'll always be. I cannot stay too much time without falling on temptation, that's why also here in Copenhagen I'm always looking for a new-kinda affordable-good place where to go and please my stomach. Yesterday, after dealing with the fact that even in summer every kitchen in Nørrebro closes at 9/9.30pm (weekdays), I discovered Selfish. Pros: fresh fish - good quality, kitchen open until 9.30pm, two small tables to eat in otherwise you take away, kind staff. Cons: not too much choice on the menu (maybe it is different on lunch break), small portions, a bit expensive (considering we were two and we had a "XL Menu" which it comes with just 22pieces. Yes, normally we eat a bit more). Maybe it is me that had too much high expectations or also when it's late evening and I'm super hungry I'd eat the entire table. The good part is I now know I can rely on it for late evening dinners while everything else is closed :)

Yelp
One of the best sushi (take away) places in town. The place is small, on the basement level, probably not quite suitable for romantic date night or whatever, but the sushi served here are good and authentic and with good price to match. Order the menu and you won't be disappointed, and it's even cheaper during lunch time. Apart from the menu, they also have special of the day - Mina K ordered it and got the snow crab and botan ebi/ shrimp. That might be pricey, but also totally worth it, judging from her facial expression when devouring the shrimp. Not only sushi, they also have gyoza (Japanese dumpling), I didn't get to try them because they're made of chicken (and I don't eat poultry) but they look so good and there's also other items in the menu including matcha ice cream and black sesame ice cream. This place is suitable for takeaway, but there are small tables for when you decide to dine-in. It's all up to you, but I'd rather splurge money here than other "sushi takeaway" in town. It's worth every penny :)

Yelp
I had the best sushi ever. The place was quite small maybe it because it's a take away place. I had no idea about it before until i reach there. The place was very welcoming and the food. I will never forget this wonderful food experience and definitely coming back again for more.

Yelp
Everytime I have something to celebrate I go to Selfish, it is an authentic atmosphere with fresh, delicious sushi.. The best in Copenhagen if you ask me. We only had a unfortunate experience once where the sushi was a bit sloppy made, but the chef was stressed due to the amount of customers that day.. He did apologize, so the staff is extremely kind and friendly .

Yelp
I really enjoy this sushi shop. They make their inari sushi (the tofu skin wrapped one and one of my favourites) so savory and delicious and juicy...I'm not sure what different things they are doing to it, but the tofu is so delicious. It is quite a sweet sushi, so maybe not for everyone's taste. And they totally converted my opinion on one of my least favorite sushi, the tamago sushi. I never really liked the egg sushi before because it was always kind of bland, but I think the Selfish one is really good. It is still really mild, but the egg is sort of sweet and pleasant. And I really like the small quietness of the place. I used to live by this trendy sushi place which always pumped music and had dim lights and it just wasn't very relaxing for me to eat there. This is a calm place to enjoy the taste of sushi =)

Yelp
Love the sushi they make! The restaurant is rather small (two tables, along with a few counter seats), since I understand that their main business is take-out. But for the times we visited, we never had problem dining in. The owner and staff are very friendly, and I enjoy chatting with them. It's a must-visit-spot in Copenhagen!

Yelp
The best sushi you can get in Copenhagen, in my opinion. It is a small place, not so many sets, but feel very nice to sit in there, casual, relax, warm. The rice is cooked and bland so perfectly, the seafood they use, are always fresh! Half open kitchen, you can see the chef make the sushi while you are waiting for it. Many different kinds of sake you can choose from, also Japanese beer and drinks. And they have very nice ice-cream make of black sesame, I like it a lot. About the price I would say it's a bit expensive then other Sushi place, but totally worth it!! Here is the only place in Copenhagen I will choose to have my sushi. :)

Yelp
Please let me save you a trip (and hefty bill) here. I've been craving good sushi since I've been in Europe and finally decided to try and satiate the craving. We'll let me just say this didn't do it. The tuna roll tasted like it was out of a can. The tempura roll only had fried shrimp inside (nothing else). The service was almost non-existent and my bill was double what it would've been at a 5 star sushi restaurant back home. Moral of the story: go somewhere else to eat and wait until you're home to go to your favorite sushi spot.

Yelp
Seriously, if someone asked me where can they get good sushi in cph, this would be the last sushi bar i suggest. I'm Asian, i have been to Japan almost ten times, had amazing sushi in the united states( do you know sushi in the west coast can be better than the ones in Japan? this is because the fish are a lot fresher than what you get in Japan). I eat sushi everyday, while I'm really picky. sorry for being harsh, if selfish was opened in japan, they wont be able to survive. There are too much vinegar in the rice, the fish arent fresh enough, it isnt sliced well:( maybe i shouldnt put my hopes too high. I would have been fine for eating this quality if its half off. I think its overpriced for its quality.. but I am in Copenhagen... I know I know...:(

Yelp
I can't compare this to other Japanese places in the city since this is the only one I've been to, but our table of Asians (including a Japanese girl) came away pretty happy with this meal. We'd been in Europe for too long, had little to no access to seafood or decent sushi that didn't empty a hole in our pockets, and this tiny little place in Elmegade changed all that. They're supposed to have a Japanese-only special menu if you ask nicely and speak in Japanese. We tried, but they were too busy that night to serve it. There's room for maybe just 15 people, so most business is take-out. There is some outdoor seating, but you won't be wanting that when it's -10 deg Celsius outside. The chef and his entire crew is Japanese. We had maguro, salmon, ika, yakitori, miso soup, ocha -- the typical stuff we'd have at home. It was fresh and real and it wasn't watered down for the western palate, so top marks for that. They have platters of various sizes. Our two L sets fed three very hungry Asian girls well into the next day. They also have XL and XXL sets and even XXL I think. I would eat here again if I needed decently priced, more-than-decent sushi in Copenhagen again.

Yelp
My favourite sushi restaurant in Copenhagen. It's a very tiny place but very cozy too. I am a great fan of their gyoza (steamed dumplings) and the sake selection is quite impressive. The sushi is consistently AMAZING, and the price si definitely good for the quality you get.

Yelp
Like all things in Copenhagen, Selfish is a bit pricey, but well worth the money for the quality of sushi they are producing. I tried several sushi spots while in Copenhagen and Selfish was by far my favorite. The quality of the ingredients was top notch and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a pretty big selection, definitely something for everyone. Keep in mind that the place is very small, just two small tables and a small sushi bar, though they have some outdoor seating if the weather is decent outside. A good find!

Yelp
i have eaten all kinds of sushi in california and japan, from plain nigiri made with the freshest fist to the most absurd rolls stuffed with cream cheese and mango. selfish serves up the former; simple nigiri with good fish and well-seasoned rice. good to know that the language of choice here is japanese. another welcome sign is the fish of the day, a menu choice lost on most sushi places in copenhagen. the last time we were there, the specials were crab, yellowtail, and snapper and they did not disappoint. the sweet crab meat was served with just a tiny tip of the shell attached; enough to grip while drawing out the cartilage. we did get a few rolls with the large menu as well as a shrimp tempura roll, but there wasn't any mayonnaise to be seen, only crispy tempura and carefully arranged vegetables and fish. the chef is polite and friendly, though perhaps not as laid back as the family at bento. though this place may be a bit more expensive than whatever chain sushi place you happen to be walking by, selfish is the real deal.
