The 6 Best Hostels in Panama City, Panama

"Located in a historic colonial building in the Old Town, I found Selina to be chic and upscale—popular with solo travelers and digital nomads—with a spacious outdoor patio, nearby bars, comfy beds, hot showers, AC, a co‑working space, a pool table, and plenty of common areas. Breakfast is available but not included, and there’s an on-site restaurant open all day and evening, making it convenient for both work and socializing." - Matthew Kepnes

Formerly Selena, now Viajero. Great low budget hostel with a massive rooftop including pool, restaurant, and bar. Drinks are decently priced, tacos are phenomenal, and the views are beyond incredible. I’ve stayed here under both the Selena and Viajero name and would highly recommend. They’ll hold your bags before/after check-in in locked rooms. Great co-working and chill areas, including silent rooms for work, ping pong and pool tables. Great library area and lots of activities. On the edge of the Casco Viejo area within walking distance to everything there.

So close to everything in the old part of Panama City. The harbour walk just one block, churches, supermarkets 2 blocks. Yoga in the morning….. thank you. The hand weights were enough. The roof top bar is great for the sunset. We were upgraded and ended up with a 2 bed apartment. No service to our room. Thank you. Great walking tour every day. Bike tour excellent also. And the people … always with a smile.

Too loud to sleep, most of the rooms are on 5th floor and the party is at 6th aka rooftop bar, they party until 3,4,5 am. The music + base make it so hard to sleep. Earplugs won’t help cause we tried.

We did a bar crawl and this was the meeting location. It’s was cute in the inside. Good Cesar Salad. They have TVs to watch sports. Wasn’t too crowded. Bartenders were good. Prices were reasonable. I would go back again. The wait for food wasn’t bad.

Uh-mazing! We knew they served tacos, but damn these were so good!!! The pork belly and shrimp were our favorites, great service by Rodrigo and the cold Balboas! The view from here was great as well. Note that it’s not the Selena anymore. Make sure to put this on your list during your visit to Old Town

I got a private room with shared bathroom. It’s a place to stay for a reasonable price in a desirable location. If you want something super clean and luxuriously comfortable, this is not where you’ll get that. But I am someone who prefers to splurge on other aspects of travel like excursions and adventures, so this was fine for what I needed. The rooftop pool and bar was a nice space to hangout during the day, & gets very fun at night with music and dancing. The AC in my room worked very well. I do wish my room had a window to the outside but again, not a hugee deal for me. The bathroom near my room could’ve used more cleaning but there were multiple wc’s on each floor so i just used a different one. I would stay here again because it gave me enough of what i needed in accommodation.

Very cute and cozy. I didn’t stay at the hotel but I did enjoy their rooftop restaurant/ bar. Customer service 10/10

I truly love this place. I’ve stayed here for a month cumulatively across two trips…and I haven’t a complaint. The rooms are exactly as you need; clean, fresh and minimalist. The staff is super friendly. Clearly whoever is leading the team here is doing a great job setting an example, because you can feel the warmth from every person☺️
