The hotel facilities are generally speaking in good condition, even though not yet finalised. However, the communication from the hotel was a disaster. We received notification prior to arrival to pay everything in cash. We paid a tremendous amount of bank fees in order to get the cash. We arrived and they took card. You also have to walk quite a bit to the hotel, also quite a steep uphill. This is something that could have been communicated. We had a deluxe jungle bungalow, which is a nice room, but not really deluxe. It was very spacious, but however lacked basic amenities, such as storage for clothing or luggage.

DISASTER! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was a deeply disappointing experience from start to finish. Here’s why: Misleading Information: Breakfast was supposed to be included in the original price, but they weren’t serving it, and there was no restaurant on the premises, even though it was advertised in the description. Payment Issues: We were unable to pay by credit card, something they failed to inform us about beforehand. Overcharging Attempt: Upon arrival, they tried to charge us more than the agreed amount. Horrible Cleanliness: The room was filthy, with visible dirt and grime everywhere. Rude Staff: The personnel were incredibly rude and appeared to be deliberately trying to confuse us. Hotel Condition: The hotel itself was abandoned and in a state of disrepair. Rotten banisters, non-working facilities like the pool bar, and a general sense of neglect made it feel unsafe and uncomfortable. The only saving grace was that, after all this trouble, we were given a discount. However, it didn’t make up for the terrible experience. Avoid this place at all costs.

I was an avid Selina consumer for many hostels of theirs around the world so when I found out the rebranding, I was open to try Sociatel. I would say it was a 99% positive experience! The staff were so polite and friendly and incredibly helpful! The walking trail to the beach is amazing and very close! Also, my favorite thing was the pool, they kept it very clean, even for being an outdoor pool, and it was a wonderful experience. Everything was incredibly clean, and I would definitely give this place another booking! My very few negatives were NOT the fault of the staff or the location, they were simply by default because of the rebranding. The only thing I can suggest is that better communication prior to booking would’ve been appreciated. Because of the rebranding and improving of certain things on the property, the restaurant and the poolside bar were not accessible or in operation at all. These accommodations were part of the reason I booked this property and so it would’ve been Appreciated to receive some sort of compensation or reimbursement for these things not being available. Again, not the fault of any of the staff on site, but just a general thing that was my only negative. But ideally, those couple things would be fixed and an even better condition when I come back to visit! The only corner store available without a water taxi, was very expensive and sometimes randomly was closed. So that was hard for my budget while solo traveling. 2-3 Restaurants were within walking distance but also higher prices due to the lack of choices. It wouldve been helpful as a traveler on a budget, to have known this before check in.

Nightmare on Bastimentos – WARNING: Do NOT book this accommodation! I booked a bungalow for $130 per night, expecting a charming, nature-inspired stay. Instead, I was met with a rundown, unsanitary, and massively overpriced disaster that looks nothing like the photos online. A dilapidated accommodation From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the online images were completely misleading. The ceiling is unfinished, leaving me staring directly at the exposed roof tiles. Rusty, sharp screws stick out of the walls, posing a safety hazard. The windows, which were supposed to offer a breathtaking jungle view, are dirty and smeared, completely ruining the experience. The curtains? Unwashed, dusty, and grimy. The bungalow is partially made of wood, but there are gaps up to 1 cm wide between the planks, allowing insects and other creatures to enter freely. Within hours, I encountered a cockroach, a spider, and a centipede inside the room. The windows are equipped with mosquito nets, but they don’t fit properly, making them useless against mosquitoes and other pests. A damp, moldy smell and disgusting hygiene Another huge issue: The entire bungalow reeks of dampness and mildew, as if I were staying in a decaying, abandoned museum. The smell is overwhelming and makes the already unbearable conditions even worse. The bathroom? A complete disaster! There is visible mold next to the shower, and the refrigerator sits on a rotting Styrofoam block, which also seems to be moldy. Absolutely disgusting. Horrendous sleeping conditions The mattress is a joke. It is completely worn out and has a deep indentation, forcing you to sleep in a single uncomfortable position. No matter how much you try to move, you will always roll back into this hole. Using the whole mattress? Impossible. Getting a restful night’s sleep? Forget about it. Constant construction noise, a closed pool, and zero compensation What they don’t tell you before booking: The entire area is under construction! You only find out after checking in (and spending at least one night) that you’re staying in the middle of a noisy construction site. Drilling, hammering, and construction work go on all day—forget about peace and relaxation. The pool, which was advertised as fully available? Closed for three days due to construction—with no prior notice and no compensation offered. Other amenities? Nonexistent. There’s no bar, and the only “service” they provide is a cup of coffee in the morning—but only black or with sugar, because the owners are too cheap to buy milk from the local store. They openly admitted that $2.50 for milk is too expensive for their guests. This stingy, careless attitude defines the entire stay: zero hospitality, zero service, zero effort. No flexibility, no refunds, no way out And the worst part: The owners refused to offer any discount or cancellation, despite the obvious issues! We couldn’t afford to change accommodations due to budget constraints, meaning we were forced to stay here under completely unacceptable conditions. We spoke to other guests—all of them were just as shocked and disappointed. No one got what was promised online. FINAL VERDICT: DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE! This accommodation is a scam and an absolute disgrace. For $130 per night, you get construction noise, mold, insects, disgusting conditions, and owners who don’t care about their guests. I strongly warn everyone: DO NOT book this place! If you don’t want to ruin your trip, stay far away from this scam.

A great spot to get away from the world for a little while, but still have great internet for working. I loved being able to take a small trip to the beach on my lunch break or relax in the jungle. I would come back again if they decide to keep the cowork space open and have a kitchen.

The hostel is right in the jungle and we enjoyed the stay close to nature. There are free activities almost everyday in which we participated. The rooms have much space, air-condition, are modern and the beds offer you some privacy due to curtains. Also, the outside area is very cozy and welcoming. The bathrooms were small and didn't reflect the modernity of the rooms. The kitchen offers everything you need and gets cleaned every day. Considering the price the food is not good at all. E. g. while the Shakshuka was not spiced at all, the salad was so salty you couldn't eat it. Most importantly the staff was not friendly and very unenthusiastic.

Nothing bad to say about the place itself, only that when we arrived, the room was not ready until one hour later. Still, we were welcomed and accomodated really well, and in the waiting time we could go to one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen in my life
