We wanted to like this place but there were several odd things that made it pale in comparison to many other places (including hostels!). Summary: The overall theme is 'incompleteness', which I define as furnishings/services looking good on the surface, but weren't quite finished or thought through. So a hotel on the surface ,but a motel when you experience it. Here are some examples: 1) The shower area in the bathroom had no door/screen. The floor wasn’t built in a way to get water to flow to the drain so the bathroom gets very wet. 2) The hairdryer is in the bathroom, mounted on the wall, but because of (1), this seems to be a electrical hazard since water could easily reach the socket. 3) Common dining area had unopened ikea furniture boxes lying around. 4) Common area is closed for the paid breakfast, so if you didn’t opt for breakfast, the loosely enforced policy was that guests could not use the area. Not sure if this is a one off policy or standard. The strength of this place is at it is well located, has nice views, and provides you with a bed and hot shower. Because of those reasons, there will likely always be demand for this. However if you can find similarly priced locations in the area, those might be more worth it.

I so very wanted to love this place. It is in a great location and has a wonderful aesthetic. Check in was convenient and the room was clean. Breakfast was very good. However…. There was sewer gas emitting from the shower drain that smelled like nothing I have ever experienced. A wet towel over the drain and a wide open window could not abate it. Kept us awake all night and left with a headache. What a shame.

This place was awesome. I would never have guessed how good a place this was. I think it was recently built as everything seems so new. It was perfectly clean and a lovely modern decor. The owner/operator was so helpful and sweet. Breakfast buffet was awesome with eggs cooked to order as well as the other usual things like meats, cheeses and a variety of breads. Great coffee and tea too. Beds were comfortable.

Arrived late, left early. Not much to say. Rooms were basic but comfortable, and quiet. Shared kitchen area with coffee and tea. Located close to Hofn. Special thanks to the honest cleaning crew who found and returned a beloved pair of sunglasses!

That was by far our worst stay jn Iceland so far.. The location is good and the room size is ok for a night stay but the smell in the room was unbearable. A mix of toilet odor and sweat that was impossible to get used to.. Similar smell in the bathroom of course, despite the ventilation that was running at all times, obstructing our sleep. And all these at a price of… (drumroll)… 340€! That was a total rip off. Businesses should not do this, even if they technically can. Max price for the room in this condition should be 120€.. Remove the smell and add a TV and should still be around 200€, no more.

This felt like a no-frills motel from the 80s with a great view. It was very reasonably priced, but don't expect anything more than a safe place to rest your head and shower. We went into Hofn for dinner and found a great family-run restaurant, as there were no food options at the guesthouse.

Nicely located beneath the mountains and a 5 minute drive from the small town Hofn. Self check-in was straight forward: find your room and enter code above door handle. The room was good value for the price: comfortable beds, central heating, spotless bathroom with good water pressure. No TV in the room if that’s something you want. You can hear the other guests in the morning when they walk past your door as it’s all glass. Sadly it was too cloudy to see the aurora, but definitely a great spot when skies are clear.

The perfect place to make pictures to Northern Lights, because it is dark enough. The rooms are so cozy. The bed was really confortabile. There îs no tv, but we stayed only one night and we had no time for tv. The entrance is with Code, so you can make the check în whenever you want. Quality towels. A lot of romantic lights. The bathroom was equiped with everything you need.
