I’ve taken my kids to this skating rink for Old School jams a few times and overral it’s ok, not the best, one would think with it being old school jams night there would be an age requirement, but it’s not so it’s great for all ages
One thing I noticed, though, is how skating is organized. Slower skaters are instructed to stay toward the inside of the rink, while faster skaters are on the outside. In my opinion, that’s not the best setup, especially since the rink isn’t very large to begin with. It can actually make things feel more crowded and less safe.
My biggest issue, however, is with a group of skaters who seem to act like a “skater crew.” They are not staff, yet they yell things like “move” and “go to the middle” at other skaters. That really bothered me. You can’t just teleport to the middle instantly, and there are also young children who need space to skate and safely exit the rink. That kind of behavior should really be regulated by staff, not left to other skaters.
Another concern is the constant interruptions—frequent breaks for backward skating only, races, or games. With a rink this size, it would honestly be better to just let people skate freely instead of stopping everyone so often.
I like the idea of Old School Night and appreciate that it’s family-friendly, but better organization, clearer staff enforcement, and fewer interruptions would really improve the experience.
