Parco Sempione

Terrific! One of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever visited. Pros: beautiful nature with trees and lakes-quiet-clean- free entry- services are available such as toilets & cafes - Cons.: not found. I’d recommend this place for everyone who visits Milano.

A magical place, especially in autumn. The trees dressed in warm colors look like something out of a dream, and there’s a pleasant, floral scent in the air. Walking through the park feels like stepping into a fairytale, peaceful, beautiful, and full of charm.

Great park for a relaxing stroll! Huge and green - feels like a forest in the city! Saw turtles, fish, squirrels, and lots of people with their dogs. Grabbed chestnuts from a food stall for breakfast. Super peaceful and way less crowded than other tourist spots. Right behind Castello Sforzesco, so easy to combine with the castle and Arco della Pace. Perfect chill break while exploring Milan!

Parco Sempione is a beautiful, lively yet calm place. You can see painters by the lake, dancers practicing, and lots of ducks. It’s a great place to enjoy nature and the city, and it's one of the nicest spots in Milan.

After visiting the gardens & the palace at Versailles these hold no match. But since one is in Milan good for a walk. The best thing was live music being played here & one can sit & watch.

This is a big, beautiful park that’s perfect for walking. The paths are spacious and clean, and there’s plenty of scenery to enjoy along the way. Whether you’re out for a peaceful solo stroll or a relaxed walk with friends or family, the atmosphere feels calm and refreshing. There are lots of open areas, trees, and spots to stop and take in the view.

Claiming the Milan’s equivalent of NY Central Park, it is huge and a lot people. And maybe better located, nearby Sforza castle is also one of Milan’s famous attractions, and so is the Arco Della Pace (Arch of Peace). It’s worth the walk around to see and feel Milan’s local atmosphere.

As you stroll through, you eventually reach the other side where the Arch of Triumph awaits. It’s quite a walk, so make sure to bring water especially on hot days! The park is spotlessly clean, with beautiful green spaces, ponds with ducks, a small bridge, and even outdoor gym equipment. It’s an absolutely lovely place for a refreshing and enjoyable walk. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway in nature 🌳🌿🌱

A very large and beautiful park in central Milan. It reminds me of a smaller Golden Gate park. Lots of great sites and greenery to view. There are activities for the kids to do, and mini rides. Lots of statues as well. Very clean for Italy as well. It's not the largest park, but still very large if that makes sense. Overall, a nice detour from all the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Parco Sempione is the largest city park in the historic center of Milan, which is generally used by the local people for running, exercising, and social hangout activities etc. I would recommend you to explore and relax here.

Parco Sempione is such a gem of a park! This was my favorite place to visit while in Milan. I visited this park multiple times during my trip, and every time was magical. This is a huge park that's filled with several of Milan's prominent landmarks as well as a plethora of beautiful green space. The park often holds large events and gatherings. I came during the May Day celebration and watched the live performances and colorful parades. Everyday there was a different live performer in the park, all were so talented and entertaining. The walking paths are fun and relaxing. This is an excellent place to take a walk and admire the scenery around you. I also have to mention how friendly the people are here. I met so many great people at this park, from locals to other visitors. So many amazing picture opportunities here too. The green spaces are so gorgeous! From the ducks swimming in the pond to the lovely wildflowers; there is something for everyone to enjoy here. Your steps away from the castle, the clocktower, and the beautiful arch. So many sculptures in the vicinity to check out as well. Picnics are popular at this park as is people watching. You'll find street vendors on site selling souvenirs, handmade arts and crafts, and delicious street food. I mean, you can never get bored here honestly. There is always something going on and always something to do.

Beautiful park in Milan, directly next to (or a part of?) the Sforzesco Castle grounds. Overall the park is spacious and clean, plenty of walking paths for a stroll by yourself, a buddy or man's best friend. Lots of trees and green space, in addition to ponds/lakes and some fountains and statues. Aside from the castle and the museums within, the Triennale Milano, Branco Tower and Argo Della Pace and notable sights and attractions located within park grounds. This park is frequented by locals and tourists alike, on a sunny afternoon in April plenty of people brought picnics blankets or towels to sit or lay out on the lawns. I promise I'm not being biased but all the puppies in Italy look super healthy and happy--at least all the ones I saw walking around in the park and castle grounds. Someone might not have been able to resist the cuteness overload and possibly (discreetly) stalked a few pups while they were walking with their owners. A handful of snack and drink vendors are scattered in the park, mostly closer to the attractions. Public bathrooms are available.

After checking out Arco della Pace, we strolled into Parco Sempione. We walked around for a few minutes till Mink had to sit down. Her feet were killing her so she told me to go explore while she relaxes on a bench to rest her feet. I asked her to look for a restaurant to have lunch while I explored. It is a nice, clean and very green park. While walking around, I discovered Triennale di Milano, Equestrain statue of Napoleon III, Castello Sforzesco Fountain di Piazza Castello, Torre Branca, Fontana dell'Acqua Marcia, a basketball court and this pond in the middle that hosted ducks and turtles. It was a beautiful walk around the park. During my walk, I saw parents pushing their children through the park in strollers, people conversing on benches or while walking, animal lovers with their dogs, people exercising and couples on dates. Some people were dressed very stylish but it's Milan so I'm not surprised. If the weather was better, I could see us having a small picnic here. This is a nice escape from the city life of Milan and a nice spot to visit for nature lovers.

I saw this advertised in several items as a "garden" and expected flowers. Wrong. This is a huge community park of trees, grass, ponds, bushes. All maintained and welcoming. A place for residents and tourists to picnic, play games, or just lay on the grass and enjoy the sunshine.

While living in Milan, this large green space was our 'back yard'. A green oasis in the middle of a vibrant city. Here you will find holiday markets, expos, and many cultural events. When visiting Milan this is a nice stop to get away from the traffic and enjoy some nature for a few moments. Castle Sforzesco anchors one end of the park and Arco della Pace is opposite. If you look through the Arch, you will see the Castle. A good photo op. There is a small aquarium on the edge of the park that is great for kids. A museum of art borders one side and has many large outdoor sculptures to admire as you walk by on one of the many dirt paths that crisscross the park. Just outside the park, near the art museum is Torre Branca a tower built in the early twentieth century that you can walk up and admire the views. The Arena Civica is on the opposite side of the park where they hold concerts and athletic competitions. The park includes wide open green spaces where in summer you will see people sunning themselves, practicing sports, taking naps and picnicking. There are benches throughout the park and in the center is a library in a raised 'island' surrounded by trees. Just look for the staircase up. A small stream runs through the center of the park where you will find turtles and ducks. There are large trees and shade in this area, as well. Gardens of flowers are planted in the summer and the area in view of Arco della Pace, beyond the piazza, offers shady pine trees. Mostly the park is open and sunny. The paths are wide, mainly dirt and you'll find walkers, bikers and joggers throughout. There is an outdoor bar area within the park which is a nice spot for a cocktail, open seasonally. The park also contains a basketball court and there is a stage area where you will see independent productions on the weekends from time to time. Bands, plays and other entertainment. Buskers perform throughout the park and artists are licensed to show and sell their work at entrances to the park. Weekends are busiest and lunch time on warm spring days you'll see business people eating lunch here. Parco Sempione is the cities backyard and the Milanese love it!

Parco Sempione is a large park in the centre of Milan, it is home to Castello Sforzesco, and is a nice place to visit while in the city, due to the stunning greenery, within view of the castle. It is nice how they have kept the area so clean and pristine, which is a tribute to the groundskeeping staff, the only exception would be that a couple of the benches have started to become rusty, but that would be nit-picking! The park seems so large, so it is easy to get lost if you are navigating other sites from here, but there are certainly worse places to get lost, and the water flowing through the park is also quite pretty. During my trip to Milan last summer, I enjoyed visiting the park and passing through, and it is well worth heading to when visiting Milano. 4*

This is a wonderful city park: it's large (95 acres) and also very old, dating back to 1888! It feels very relaxing even if there are many people visiting it. You can bring the kids to the playground, walk your dog, and ride your bicycle. When we visited the weather was very nice and there were many people (alone as well in group) jogging or exercising. It has also many quiet spots where you can just bring your chair and relax. From here you can also enter the Sforzesco Castle and see the Arch of Peace.

The Parco Sempione is a park in the central area of Milan, Italy. It's always nice to get out of the city and into a green space with grass, trees, and plenty of dogs running around. There are also many landmarks nearby. I would recommend checking it out!

The first stop on my walking tour of Milan, we took our time going through the various parts of this massive castle with the guide pointing out the highlights and the important spots as well as the history of the castle. Little details like the fact that the Sforza was never overrun except by treachery and insiders who opened the gate. Originally build in the 15th century and then enlarged in the 16th and 17th, with much of it later demolished during the period of Napoleonic rule. However the Milanese government later undertook restoration works (interrupted by Allied bombing during World War II). Today, the castle houses the Pinacoteca del Castello Sforzesco, the Museum of Ancient Art and others. Some of those museums are not free but entering the castle itself and walking the grounds is entirely free. [Review 10685 overall, 453 of 2019.]

This is a large park in the middle of Milan. There is a lot of open space consisting of dirt roads and grass and trees of course. There are museums and other notable buildings on the edges of the park. There are also bodies of water with ducks. When I was there, they had signs up to indicate directions for a 5k, even though I don't believe it was actually happening, due to the pandemic. If you need some nature during your time in Milan, you can easily spend some time walking around this park.

After two weeks of exploring Italian cities, we were due for some greenery and downtime. I love people watching -- this is perfect: workers on their lunch break, joggers, moms taking a stroll with their kids. (except, they look tons more fashionable here than in SF) It's a gorgeous park near Castello Sforzesco. From a distance, the Arch of Peace may remind you of Arc de Triomphe in Paris. There's also a few chic bars here and the museum of design.

Awesome park (think Central Park-ish of Milano) with so many different things to do, esp with your children. We spent most of our time at the playground near Arco della Pace, where there's a super popular train ride, as well as a bunch of (coin-operated) rides. My DS was hooked on the helicopter ride, which he rode at least 4x. I also saw a celeb here, but I will not disclose HER name. Perhaps this is a popular celeb hangout, or maybe it was bc it was the start of Fashion Week. Either way, definitely one of the cooler spots that we came across in Milano. Just don't forget that bug spray. Mosquitos GALORE!

This is a beautiful park, huge trees which provide plenty of shade, you can have a picnic there and people watch. There's a dog park in premises and it's fun to see them interact. I love the little bridge, watch out for the pigeons poo though...

Quite a castle with all kinds green parkland. You can just enjoy the buildings and towers and parks, or go inside the many museums for some history of music, glass, statues, and art work. There's lots of stairs while walking throughout the castle so be prepared to be going up and down a lot. You need about 3 hours to cover all the interesting things here.

This is a lovely part of Milan and if i had the time i could spend a few hours there. I didn't get to see the whole lot of it but what i did see was beautiful. Seeing the arch in the distance beyond the pond and flowers was a sight of beauty and the Castello Sforzesco in the foreground is a historical splendur and worth looking at for in it's own right with its history. The park also has an enclosed huge dog park and it was nice to see all the dogs running around happily and this was not the first park i had seen in Milan with a dog-free area. Italians obviously love their dogs. There was a big playground and a mini-fairground beside it with a train track and mini motorbikes which could easily become a money drainer for parents.

Gorgeous space in the middle of Milan. Like any other park there are lawns, trees, and ponds, but there's also a castle that houses a few museums, a library, and a doggy park where you can go to look at dogs frolic even if you don't have a dog. Lots to do, and tons of great scenery for maximal relaxation. At night, the park is home to two popular Milanese nightclubs: Just Cavalli and Old Fashion.

Great green space set in the middle of downtown Milan but gosh, the parts of the park sure were sure nicer towards the castle than toward the Arco Della Pace. I found it interesting that the park had opening and closing times and is an enclosed space, surrounded by iron bars. The paths are super meandering and once in the depths of the park, not much directional signage is available, with the result I kept getting lost whole trying to traverse the park to get to the Arco Della Pace. One section had tons of African guys and while the majority were playing soccer, one bunch of young guys were shouting out cat calls to the women and aggressively walking up to them which made for a super uncomfortable experience. I also saw so many lovers, passionately embracing and kissing - and it was quite different from seeing the NYC Central Park love birds cause the Italians were full on! Anyway, not sure if would walk they park again - might take a bus/ tram to see the Arco Della Pace next time.

I came through the park on my way to another part of town. The castle that is right beside the park is really neat to look at. The park is decent size with a lot of green space. There is a lot of gravel walk ways and benches scattered throughout the park. I came across a small body of water which I saw a group of people taking wedding pictures around. I also noticed a small playground for children and a library situated close to the center of the park, I think. The park is a great place to relax but doesn't have the size or awe inside of a city like Central Park in NYC or Park Guell in Barcelona.

500th review. I needed a review that had meaning. I wanted to choose the Duomo (done), the Castle (done) and then I thought of the Parco Sempione. It was established in 1888 and the overall area is 386,000 sqm. It was filled with oak and chestnut trees as well as exotic animals. Once the Spaniards conquered the Sofrza's lands, the park was converted to crops and the Castle was used partly as an armory as well as a soldiers' quarter (which contributed to the decline and the partial ruins of the Castle). Under Napoleon's rule, the park was once again converted to its original use and given back to the locals. After WW2, real estate lobbied for the destruction of the Castle and the conversion of the Park to residential buildings. However, a strong opposition from the local population allowed this iconic place to be preserved the way we see it today. The Milan Aquarium was built in the outskirts of the park in 1906. Other buildings worth mentioning are: Palazzo dell'Arte, Arena Civica (which hosted a show from BUFFALO BILL), and Torre Branca. This park holds a great place in my heart of a kid from the 70s/80s. Huge, with infinite spots to explore. With a set of wooden kiddie park that (sadly) wasn't well kept and went to ruins in the 90s (nearby the Arena). With a train ride I used to beg my parents to allow me to ride. With canooing in the summer (right by the Sirenette bridge). With countless lunch breaks spent picnicking under the sun with a spread over neatly cut grass. My first kiss, my more daring smooching, my rebellious days of not going to school... even my first job (right off of Piazza Cadorna)... they all bring my memory back to this wonderful park.

This is such a beautiful park in Milan. I love the arch in front of Parco Sempione, it reminds me of Pride and Prejudice (my favorite movie). And right behind the park is the Castello.

Definetly a nice park, but terribly crowded on sunny days! Anyhow, due to Bering relatively close to my Appartment I offently turn in here to read a book on my towel! Can definetly advise anybody living in the area to come here! Anyhow, if you like a quiet place for a picknick I would recommend a different park!

A beautiful park is always a great place to spend some time in. What makes this park great is not so big you can walk around without fearing anything, but it is big enough to let you find your own spot undisturbed. The other thing is it has a great view of Arco della Pace that looks like arc de triomph and some of the entrance to this park is through a castle complex of Castello Sforzesco. How amazing is that?! Also in one side of it there is the Triennale Museum for the design lovers to visit.

Breathtakingly beautiful public space in the heart of Milan. It's very popular in the warmer months for sun-bathing, frisbee, running, biking, you name it. On one end is Arco della Pace, and on the other end is Castello Sforzesco. In the colder months they install various attractions such as carnivals and even a cross-country skiing course.

Wish I had taken a blanket and/or a bicycle. So many nice areas to have a picnic or to photograph. I would definitely visit this park again.
