Sen Yai

Close contention for my favorite Thai place. Not to mention Salt and Straw and across the street. Very convenient parking available in the front. Their menu selection is just terrific and I'm always trying new items. Portions and generous and they offer a good selection of peppers and spices that you can add to any dish.

This is our go-to place when we want an authentic, quick dinner. I lived in Singapore for several years and this place periodically cycles in dishes that can not be found elsewhere in Portland. It's not fancy but it doesn't pretend to be. Just good food at a good price. Highly recommend.

Service was great, my food was great, got the beef boat soup. Good spices and mix of beef cuts. Friend got vegetarian phat thai with prawns, flavor was a bit mild without the pork fat, but having that option is definitely a plus.

Worth a try. I had the curry noodle soup special and my boyfriend tried the Phat thai. The soup was ok but the only flavor you get is spicy. Not sour or a touch of sweet. The Phat thai noodles were on the dry side and lacked flavor. We might try it again.

DISAPPOINTING TO SAY THE LEAST I gave it two stars for the following reasons: overpriced & service not that great. 1. There aren't many vegetarian options for starters. I ordered the MaMa Naam at $10. I asked to substitute the pork balls for tofu, but that didn't happen. The flavor of the soup was good, however there was less than a pack of ramen noodles in this soup, an egg that wasn't completely cooked and four proms and some greens. Overall it was more liquid than substance. So this soup should had been priced around $6 considering the amount. You get lots more noodles and veggies at other restaurants. My other half ordered the Tom Yam Plaa Naam Kon at $11... Where are we, in New york??? Again. It was just lots of liquid barely noodles in this soup and literally four fish balls. OVERPRICED! 2. Service was ok, I think they need to be better overall. We were presented with someone else's tab... our waitress didn't even check with us for 5 minutes, it had to be another waitress who took care of it (no big deal, but it really didn't help me feel good at eating here). Summary: if you care about your money, don't eat here. It is disappointing.

The noodles don't live up to the pokpok name. Forgot water for 20 minutes. I think a change of concept is in order, or just close it. The food tasted foul frequently. Also I loved the sushi place that used to be there, but really Andy, this food sucks.

Its just not what I expected, $11 for a stir fry noodle, the noodle looks like from bowl noodles, tasted like bowl noodles. Says prawn on menu, smaller than shrimp on dish. Some chinese restaurant could make much better noodle.

Amazing. Best Thai noodles in Portland, hands down. Use the prik naam pla (thai chilis fish sauce and get a thai basil drinking vinegar to cut the heat. Super deep and complex flavors. Feels and tastes like sitting on the side of the road eating street food on Asia... or at least as close as you're going to get in Portland. Especially great experience if you're a lover of minimalist/independent travel (i.e., enjoy not being pampered).
