Senalala Safari Lodge

Our family of four had an absolutely wonderful 3 night stay at Senalala. The entire staff gathering to welcome us upon arrival made us feel as if we were in a first season episode of The Crown. What we will remember the most, beside the big 5 and all the other wildlife we came to see, is the genuine hospitality and the truly friendly, warm and relaxed atmosphere. |The lodge is perfectly laid out and tranquilly situated by the river bank, with elephants and other game strolling by every now and then. We also liked the low-key, elegantly sober styling of the houses. And - the beds are comfy! The food and drinks are delicious. We are normally reluctant to all-inclusive stays but the truly tasty meals and the communla dining and Senalala has made us reconsider this.|Our guides, Dawie and James, are both really good - professional, knowledgable and so easy to to get along with. Sinéad, a lovely hostess and administrator who cared for us and immediately made us feel at home. James & Corlia, running the place, certainly know what we safari guests need and appreciate. We are so grateful to the whole team. Thank you for our best lodge stay ever!

We stayed at Senalala in September 2025 and had the most amazing experience. The guides are incredibly knowledgable and made it unforgettable. The rooms are beautiful, and looking out onto the watering hole was amazing - as we checked into our room a herd of elephants greeted us! We loved the family feel - eating together was lovely and a great way to get to know others. Everyone went above and beyond, and we can’t thank you enough for an experience we’ll never forget.

The game drives are exceptional, expertly guided, unhurried, and genuinely thrilling. The tracking skills of David and James are nothing short of extraordinary. Their ability to read the bush, anticipate movement, and share insight transforms every drive into something truly special, whether it is a dramatic predator encounter or a quiet and intimate moment in nature.||The accommodation is superb. Elegant, minimalist, and spacious, it is designed to make the most of the surroundings. Waking up to the sounds of the bush and watching elephants and other wildlife pass by from the deck is truly unforgettable. Every detail feels intentional, from the comfort of the rooms to the seamless connection with nature.||What truly sets Senelala apart is the people. The level of care, warmth, and attentiveness from the entire team is outstanding without ever feeling intrusive. You are made to feel genuinely welcome, known, and completely at ease from the very start. Meals are delicious and enjoyed in a relaxed and generous spirit that perfectly complements the experience. It is hospitality at its best, authentic, generous, and heartfelt.||Senelala Lodge is the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave. It is peaceful, soulful, and deeply special. My husband and I spent four nights at the lodge for our belated honeymoon. Since we had never done a safari before, we were a bit sceptical about what to expect. But from the very beginning, the experience was absolutely incredible. 🤎||When we arrived, the entire Senalala team welcomed us warmly. After a short lodge tour and a small meal, we headed straight out on our first game drive — and it was unforgettable! We saw a leopard and an elephant herd on day one, and at one point a huge elephant walked right next to our jeep. Breathtaking!||James and Dawie were our guides throughout the stay. They explained how to behave during the drives and taught us how to read and follow animal tracks, which made the experience even more special.||The accommodation is excellent: modern, clean, and very comfortable. During the breaks between game drives, we could work out in the gym or relax by the pool. Right in front of the pool there is a waterhole where different animals often pass by ! E.g elephants, warthogs, giraffe. ||We had three meals per day, plus small breaks during the drives. In the morning break we enjoyed a hot drink with some pastries, and in the evenings we had sundowners while watching the sunset. The food was delicious every single day and always varied.||There is honestly nothing we didn’t like. The whole experience was a 10/10, and we can highly recommend this lodge to anyone :)

As I write this review, it genuinely brings a tear to my eye remembering the wonderful experience I had at Senalala. Everything about my stay was perfect: the team, the room, the view, the service, and of course the breath-taking sight of the waterhole thriving with wildlife. The rooms are incredibly spacious and beautifully equipped, each offering a magnificent view of the waterhole. When I first walked into my room and glanced out the back window, I was greeted by an elephant peeking through. It was one of the most magical moments I’ve ever experienced, being so close to nature in such a peaceful, respectful way. The food and drinks (including an excellent selection of South African wines!) were plentiful and delicious, with a wonderfully varied menu that catered for vegetarian, vegan, and pescatarian guests. Truly top-class service! Guests could choose between walking safaris or game drives depending on the weather and personal preference. The guides, James (always in the right place at the right time!), David (whose walking safaris were a highlight), and Dawie (thank you for showing me the lesser known corners of the Klaserie!) were exceptionally knowledgeable and insightful. I learned so much from each of them. I was lucky to see the Big 5 and much more – a highlight was definitely seeing leopards almost every day during my stay! Between safaris, there were plenty of ways to relax: the gym, the pool, or simply sitting on the deck to watch wildlife, which quickly became one of my favourite activities. The well stocked library, filled with books on wildlife, ecology, photography and more, was another wonderful touch. I loved being able to deepen my understanding after each safari. Special thanks also to Sinéad who ensured everything run smoothly and was super welcoming, and lovely to chat with. The owners, Corlia and James, were incredibly friendly and attentive, going out of their way to make every guest feel at home. I also appreciated the extra fun activities - touch rugby & an intro to wilderness skills! Thank you again to the entire Senalala team for making me feel so at home. It was a truly unforgettable holiday. I’ll be back one day, and I would absolutely recommend Senalala Safari Lodge to anyone looking for an extraordinary safari experience.

We planned to make this review short and sweet but there is no way to paraphrase the experience we had at Senalala!|Upon arrival we were greeted warmly, and the staff was friendly and kind. The attention to detail in the rooms and common areas was impeccable. From the flowers placed on the bed, to the personalized welcome sign, there was something special at every turn. The family style meals ensured the guests could interact on a regular basis which resulted in new friends and good conversation. Being able to observe the animals right off the deck at the watering hole was so exciting. We could not wait to see what unique wildlife would show up next! The morning and evening game drives permitted enough time during our stay to see many magnificent animals! We felt so privileged to be allowed into their space. James our guide was phenomenal! His love, knowledge, and respect for wildlife was evident with each drive. James went above and beyond to track and locate the animals and always made our crew feel safe. He shared some of the most beautiful locations with us during our coffee and sunset drink stops. James encouraged us to take in the moment for memories that will last us a lifetime!|The owners James and Corlia have created such a magical place! It's difficult to put into words how we've been affected by this experience. We just know that it will always hold a place in our hearts. Though we arrived as friends, we left as family. My family and I stayed at the lodge for about a week. It was a wonderful experience! The place is incredible, very beautiful and well-kept, and the food was delicious. The entire Senalala team was kind and helpful, everyone was very friendly, and the guides were highly trained, ready to accompany us on every safari with enthusiasm and passion.
