How quaint! It is a very large motel with so much history. Our room had a balcony that we so enjoyed. It's NOT a new building it was built in 1928 but it has all modern things that we needed. The bed was so very comfortable and the room was very clean. Nice quiet night very nice and polite staff. Will definitely stay again when in Topeka! Thank you!

Like others have said about this hotel, it has so much potential. I was happy for the price, and the staff that I interacted with were very helpful and friendly. It is an all-suites hotel and has the potential to be a very nice place: charming, original, and memorable. However, it is a remodeled apartment complex and the owners have not taken the time to really do the necessary remodeling and cleaning that they should have done. There definitely is a "smell" here. It's the worst in the lower level but it permeates throughout. If you can handle this it is a fine place to stay for the money. It also seems to be in a slightly shady neighborhood but it is close to things you would want to see like the Kansas State Capitol visitor center. But I wish the current owners could fund the necessary work to make it better.

Needs some TLC as there was some peeling paint, burned out lights, and a musty smell. That is the bad. The good is that the room was clean, the bed and shower were great, the room had a balcony and a separate sitting room, and the air conditioner worked awesome. The atmosphere and customer service were famtastic. It is also pet friendly and very quiet. To be blunt, if you are expecting the Hilton, you will be disappointed. If you can overlook the fact that this place is older and needs some upkeep, you will be just fine, and enjoy it just like we did. We would gladly stay again.

I tried to stay here. I made a reservation and it was confirmed. After my 10-hour drive, I was ready for a relaxing evening. The hotel was completely dark, the parking lot was empty, and all the doors were locked when I got there. They didn't answer their phone and I was stranded. The area was sketchy, too. Luckily, another hotel down the road had a few rooms left. So, I guess take your chances.

We stayed here for a night as a pit stop in the middle of our cross country move. It’s a quaint, quirky little hotel with lots of parking. The area around it is very sketchy and I would not go out after dark and look out for your car. My husband and I were harassed by a group of non-contributing members of society for money while we were walking our dog around the hotel. Our room on the first floor of the hotel was very warm and could never get cool even with the AC running constantly. It could barely pump any air out. The room, however small, was clean though and we enjoyed the balcony. Breakfast was fairly decent. I wouldn’t stay here again though due to the dangerous area and the uncomfortably warm room.

The rooms are cozy and pretty spacious. The beds are comfy after a full day of driving. The grounds definitely need some TLC. The elevator is an experience, it also needs some love as well. The grinding sounds convinced us to take the stairs.

Although this building and rooms could be an amazing place to stay, this was one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. First, they did not have the room we reserved. We were told they were short staffed so they weren’t ready. They finally “found” a 2 full bed suite, so we stayed. The room was not very clean, you could see toothpaste spittle on the bathroom faucet. Cute balcony, but it was unlocked when we first arrived. The shower curtain had mildew on it. The sheets and pillow cases in one room smelled like they were not clean (just odor, because I think they were clean) , but not in the other. The breakfast was not as advertised, with just waffles being hot. Now, to be fair it was $94 for a night in downtown Topeka.

Google
Staff was great. We actually had the room for two nights, went somewhere else for a night, and ended up going back. There were a couple different issues we encountered, like the TV didn't work, and a billing thing with my card, but the five stars remain because the way the Staff was right on it, whatever it was, and got it handled, hospitable and upbeat. Good people, good place. Unique little hotel, and balconys with every room, I think.

Yelp
We booked online, paid in full, drove five hours into the night only to be met with an abandoned building and a sign on the door "closed for renovations" THEN WHY SHOW YOU'RE AVAILABLE TO TAKE OUR MONEY at $400 AND LET US BOOK A ROOM FIVE HOURS AWAY FROM HOME!!! Pitiful business practice No one was remotely available to help us get our refund or a room. Ridiculous

Yelp
Sort of wish we had more time here. There were so many amenities we didn't utilize. For the price, we had great space with a small fridge and microwave. The bed was comfortable and a pull out couch was available, though we didn't need one. The price was awesome for a late night check-in and early leave. Towels and soap were the only down fall. Thin towels and the soap bar didn't lather easily but I can handle that when I'm not being over charged. The p.m and a.m staff were great. Check in was easy and check out was friendly! Lastly, we always appreciate comfortable, pet friendly hotels.

Yelp
Um...this place is no longer open, stopped taking reservations a year ago. Property is condemned. You need to remove this location from your site

Yelp
A very cute, antique-y, stately feel of a hotel. I was staying here as I drove through on a road trip and it wasn't very crowded. The person working reception was very welcoming and friendly when I arrived late at night. The room was huge!! I rarely stay in suites so maybe I'm just not accustomed to it but it was so spacious and clean. I also had a balcony which had a great view. My only complaint is that since the building is old, the doors are not very soundproof, I could hear everything in the corridor and there was a door that kept slamming close. Not sure if it was to the stairs? But it could definitely use a soft closer. Breakfast was closed due to to COVID and in general the hotel seemed pretty empty. The location is great, I took a walk around the statehouse with my dog in the morning! Super cute hotel if you ever need a place to stay in Topeka!

Yelp
I stay in a lot of hotels for work but this weekend was just fun and my wife wanted to stay somewhere different. First of all, where is the amazing customer service everyone is talking about? We arrived about 430 pm on 12/1 and the greeting was non existent. Yes, this is an interesting building w/ lots of history but unlike the other reviewers here, our experience was not as positive. Our room did have a small room w/ a table, chairs and requisite mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Hardly any cars in the parking lot so I'm thinking we were one of the few guests. We were on the third floor, it was very quiet. Our room had a balcony and the squeakiest, jankiest queen bed we've ever slept on. No safety bars in the tub area, poor water pressure and a very funny smell my wife would not stop talking about. BTW, if you're a ghost hunter, our ghost radar went crazy last night.

Yelp
Terrable client service. We had a reservation through Booking.com. They overbooked and called an hour prior to checkin and informed us we would need to find other lodging. We were driving so asked if they could assist us. The girl on the phone said"that's not my job". We had a heated discussion about customer service etc... Don't use them as we drove by it is a very rundown place and probably good we got booted. We found the Cyrus super nice and friendly. Even gave us a discount because of our situation. I highly recommend.

Yelp
The Senate has a lot of charm and character. According to their website, this hotel was built in the 1920s, originally as a prestigious apartment complex. For it to be a nearly 100 year old building, it is well-maintained outside and in. Honestly, it is one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed at. There was not one speck of dust or grime anywhere in my room. You can tell the staff take great care in this. Very impressive! The rooms truly are suites with ample space. My room had a walk-in closet (plus another closet) and a separate sitting area with a love seat, table and chairs, fridge, and microwave. I even had french doors leading to a terrace with chairs. The bed was super comfortable! There was cable TV and great WiFi connection as well. The staff are all incredibly friendly and accommodating. I felt welcome with every person encountered, even the other guests. I love that type of environment. This is a pet friendly hotel too! They don't charge an astronomical fee for your furbabies either. My pups loved the extra attention they received from the staff. Also, the complimentary continental breakfast is way better than any traditional breakfast you would receive from a chain hotel. There was a huge assortment of foods and drinks to choose from. Waffles, eggs, bacon, assorted pastries (muffins, donuts, bagels), oatmeal, fruit, etc. Then of course coffee, hot chocolate, juices, etc. There was also extra touches like shredded cheese, chocolate syrup for hot cocoa, picante sauce, different types of cups for to-go or dine in, newspaper to read, and so on. And not surprising, the spread of everything was all very neat and clean. My only two critiques are one, that this would not probably be an area you would want to walk around at night in, especially solo. We stayed on the hotel grounds, which is well-lit and has security cameras, with no problems. The only other thing that may be a problem for some is that the rooms do not stifle out sound very well. With the TV on or in my case I have a sound app on my phone, it muffled out any sounds so I was able to fall asleep just fine.

Yelp
We enjoyed our one night stay very much. The price was excellent. The bed was very comfy. The old style charm and the overall quality of the room was very comfortable and appealing. We loved the outdoor patio. It has a nice little kitchen. We didn't get to enjoy the breakfast or other amenities because of the virus but would love to stay here again. Lori, the front desk person was very pleasant. Overall a great stay.

Yelp
My wife and I were to end up in Topeka in-between families on our Christmas vacation/road trip, and in planning found the Senate Luxury Suites. In researching we discovered that the 2-3 year old negative reviews that the Suites had gotten were not only out of date, but did not reflect a change in management. In comparison to the previous reviews the Suites are far and away one of the best places we have ever stayed. The rooms, as a previous reviewer on yelp.com states, are not huge but that doesn't mean that they aren't large. The rooms here at the Senate Luxury Suites are more than comprable to a regular hotel room. I've stayed at many hotels being TDY with the military and the rooms here are cleaner, larger, and include a small sitting room and kitchenette that are NOT included in many "mainstream" hotels. And the Suites go an extra step for that "homey" sense that I don't get very often. The continental breakfast IS continental: fresh fruit, cereal boxes, coffee, tea, bagels. Nothing extravagant but exactly what I would expect from a free continental breakfast. And since the hotel does not bill as a bed and breakfast the fact that there's free food is worth an extra star in and of itself. Rooms have balconies with a view of the state capital, there is an exercise room and a hot tub (we did not avail ourselves to either during our stay), laundry room and vending, and the staff is wonderful and goes the extra mile. As mentioned, we found ourselves here over christmas. On the morning of the 24th housekeeping left us a christmas card and present with extra bottles of water. Bouyed by the Christmas spirit we got a small tree($10.00 Walmart with lights) and set up a Christmas Tree in our room as well as decorated our door with ribbon and a large bow (also from Walmart) - The staff never said a thing about us decorating a public area. Afterwards we picked up some cookies and milk from a gas station, used one of the plates and glasses provided by the hotel, and hijacked a rolling trolley from the front desk area - set out cookies, milk and a note to Santa Claus. The next morning 1.5 cookies were gone, the milk was drank and we had a response from Santa - typed and printed in color - to Amber, telling her that Santa was not going to forget us for Christmas and had presents for us; and that Mrs. Claus, the Reindeer and the Elves were all in good shape and ready to get moving on Christmas itself. Can you think of any hotel in a capital city that costs $65-75, provides large rooms, free breakfast, exercise rooms, sauna, laundry, and a front staff that goes so far during holidays that they not only give gifts, but respond to christmas letters to santa? If you stay in Topeka and do not consider the Senate Luxury Suites, then you need to readress your priorities on comfort and home.

Yelp
We have stayed here for the last month and half for business. This place is pet friendly and most of the cliental is governors, senators..etc during the week durning open session. Overall the hotel is like an older bed and breakfast. This is a pet friendly place. They offer a continental breakfast, only had it once however most people seem to enjoy...they do have a waffle maker for you waffle lovers. The decor is dated but the rooms themselves are decent. The suites have a bedroom with queen bed and bathroom along with a living room with updated flat screen, the kitchenette are typically sink, dorm fridge and microwave with a small round table. We have stayed in many of the rooms and each room is designed a bit different. Some have sofa sleepers or chair (twin) sleepers or just plain chairs. The exercise room is located in the basement with basic equipment and a hot tub. Park on the north side and enter through the back doors for easy loading/unloading. The hotel is located 1 block from the capitol. The neighbors of the hotel can sometimes catch you off guard as there is typically siren activity at night. There aren't many places that I would suggest to eat around the hotel but would say YELP local places and you will be sure to find something. The Celtic Fox (pub) isn't too far for a drink and food....I would suggest driving not walking. Be sure to check in via Yelp as this place is a HUGE yelp supporter so all kinds of checkin deals. The staff has always been very friendly.

Yelp
Absolutely disgusting place to stay! The pictures are NOT proper representation of the building today (most pics state taken over 8yrs ago). We got to our room excited thinking we were going to have a cute clean suite, wowww were we wrong....we actually looked at each other and thought we were being punked! Soooo dirty, I kept my shoes next to the bed so I could put them on to walk on the floor, words just cannot describe the filth. Got up the next morning sleeping in a bed literally bolted to the wall (about 12 inch bolts and big holes in the wall) only 1/2 of the electrical worked in the room, went to shower was in 2 minutes and NOOOO hot water!! Went to get a washcloth and found none except for the dirty ones left from the prior visitor while in the shower my husband went to make coffee until he found the pot with "floaties" in it and hair (not head) on the pot....speaking to the "mgr" he said they need to do renovations but can't due to it being a historical site. We should have walked right out when we arrived and I had to ask the checkin girl if the car was safe in the parking lot....her answer: oh yes, there are cameras on every single pole outside ok great but a bit extreme as if, has there been trouble before? I would not recommend wasting any money here! We were booked 3 nights and we packed after our frozen showers and bolted!! Hilton Garden Inn on Wanamaker was very refreshing!!!!!!

Yelp
We stayed for 1 night and I would love to stay again. The breakfast wasn't too spectacular for a bed and breakfast, but it was more than enough to fill you up. The room was small, but a good small, it was cozy, quaint, and homey. Our room had a balcony with a gorgeous view. If it had been warmer, it would have been the perfect place to sit and drink a cup of coffee. They also have a small exercise room with a hot tub, we made use of both of them. And if you are staying longer thye have laundry facilities in the hotel, complete with a pool table in the lounge. All in all a relaxing little hotel in the middle of Topeka, for me the only thing it was missing was a view of some water, but thats just my preference in locations, and it can be hard to find that in a land locked state.

Yelp
Courteous, friendly, & helpful staff, makes for a pleasant stay. Rooms were clean, with attention to detail. We had car trouble and they were very accommodating! The building is vintage 1928 circa. We highly recommend this place.

Yelp
We happened to be in need of a hotel last minute on our road trip back home and found this gem. It's located in a rather old charming building, and the rooms are huge! We got a room with a king bed, living room, kitchen and big bathroom for about $115. We also used the AAA discount, so if you have triple A make sure to mention it when checking in. The room was clean, and I'm super meticulous...I checked for everything. There is also continental style breakfast for all the guests that starts around 6:30. It was a good simple breakfast for the price we paid, can't complain! I would most definitely stay here again if I'm ever back in Topeka.

Tanya M.

Yelp
I rated this 5 stars because it was a delightful little gem. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows were nice and squishy (unlike the standard inexpensive hotel that are terrible), the shower pressure was great, and the shampoo, conditioner and lotion smelled good. I was in a room with a balcony which overlooked the Capitol. I didn't get up in time for breakfast.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible experience with this hotel.  When we first checked in, the young man working behind the desk was extremely nice and helpful.  I got my disabled wife to our room, got her settled in (takes quite a while).  We found out the room close to the stairs was too loud for her when someone was on stairs, so we updated front desk and got her settled in again in a quieter room.  I left to run get her medication, and pick up a neck brace and some food.  When I got back it was getting dark and I had to make some phone calls and noticed several roaches in the parking lot.  I looked around more and noticed they were all over around the Senate Luxury Suites building.  I went back into our room and started to look around closer.  I saw multiple small roaches on the bed and furniture.  I saw a large one out on our balcony.  Disgusted and not wanting to infest our own house with roaches from spending the night here, I packed up everything and got her in her wheelchair to move her out.  She didn't want to wait in the lobby while I got the refund, so I took her out to our vehicle and loaded everything up to leave and find another hotel.  When I came back in, another person was working the desk.  He called himself *******, a night auditor.  I let him know the issue and he told me he can't directly refund but we can request refund through expedia, they would contact him, and he would approve it.  I was satisfied and drove away.  But here is where it got worse instantly.  He called me back minutes later and told me he was going back on his word, that we were in the room too long and "it doesn't take that long to find roaches, we should have noticed earlier and abruptly hung up on us".  The roaches were not that obvious during the day but you can go walk around this building and parking lot and you will see them everywhere.  We went back to the building to confront him and get our refund, stepping around 3 roaches just on the steps leading to the main entrance.  He again refused our refund and called the police on us, telling them we were crazy "fruit loops" and we needed to be removed.  He told police my wife was wearing a bulletproof vest (she is in a full medical back brace, knee braces, SI joint brace, and neck brace and tried to convince the police we were horrible people and that WE were the problem.  He spent most of his phone call with his middle finger on the side of his face, trying to give us the middle finger without being too obvious.  Knowing we are doing nothing wrong we waited for the police and talked with them, they did have us leave the building and said it is a civil matter for the refund and they can't help us with that (they wanted to).  He also lied to police and told them there was no way he could give us a refund.  I have all of this recorded on video.  This is completely unacceptable and if you are the owner or manager, please reach out to me for the video and seriously consider if you want to continue employing a person with such horrific customer service skills and lack of empathy at your hotel, I can tell you their name when you contact me but choose not to post it publicly due to possible legal repercussions.

Yelp
What a cool and funky hotel....right next to downtown Topeka. My room had a covered porch where I could sit outside in the evening and listen to the birds chirp. The bathroom was older but the water pressure was good and the shower was hot. The TV was ok...and the kitchenette was a great place to sit in the evening and work at the kitchen table. The staff was nice and the parking was free. Next to the state capital and close to lots of little place to eat. Affordable, too. I'll stay there next year when I return to the drag races.
google avatar

Krista G.

Yelp
If you ever want a charming place to stay in downtown Topeka, this is it. My room was HUGE, especially considering the extremely reasonable rates. Staff was very friendly, and the breakfast spread was incredible. I was only sorry that my stay wasn't longer than one night. If you like brand-spanking-new, cardboard-cutout hotels this place is not for you. But if you like older places with historic charm and a unique story, you can't go wrong with The Senate Luxury Suites.

Yelp
Brilliant place. My father, sister, and I stayed here on our first cross-country road trip and were pleasantly surprised. We were able to make a reservation on the drive over for a 1-night stay. The place was in a strange neighborhood but was right behind the State House so that was cool I guess. Usually the way it was going was that my father would sleep in one bed and my sister and I would stay in the other. I'm under the impression she turns into a spider when she sleeps and flails her creepy spider arms everywhere, so I wasn't looking forward to it. We got an excellent rate (average for the trip, which was mainly weekdays at the end of July) and went up to our room. Instead of one bedroom, there was a living room with a couch and balcony, a bedroom with a single king bed, and a bedroom with 2 fulls! Muy excelente! My father and I had some sort of drink ticket so we left my sister (who was more interested in gabbing with her friends) and went down to the bar. The bartender was wondering how we found The Senate Suites. I guess it's not in the main part of Topeka and usually it's filled with out-of-state government folks when they visited Topeka. That explained the hotel's strange location. Being high-class ourselves, we walked to Pizza Hut and had dinner back in the hotel. My dad broke the golden rule of Pizza Hut and got a thin-crust pizza (only get the normal crust!) that was pretty bad. Our stay was excellent. The beds were comfy, the balcony was cool, and the rate was top-notch. The only thing to note is it was in a pretty sketchy area, but we were good walking to the Pizza Hut.

Yelp
There are 3 of us on a 7 day road trip. We had no specific plans or place to stay. We have had good luck with a chain hotel that was reasonable & clean. We called the same chain & they informed us that the price for one night was 109 + an extra 10 for a 3rd person. This was a first for us at this chain & frankly, I was a little annoyed. So I went on Yelp & found The Senate Luxury Suites. The price was 79.00 a night for a 2 bedroom suite with microwave, fridge, balcony, A/C & living room. I was a little hesitant at first, but read the reviews & all of them were positive. We found the place super easy & were very impressed with the looks of the place. Very classy & obviously has some history in Topeka. Turns our that if I checked in with Yelp, I got a 20% discount. Wow! The room, with tax was $73! Now we aren't very fancy folks & really look for something clean & quiet. This place did not let us down! The place has character, it's classy & we couldn't have picked a better place! It's clean, quiet & the staff was outstanding!!!! The continental bkfst was good - plenty of food to choose from. The employee chatted us up about the history of the building being an apartment & get this - it was designed by two ladies. Girl power! If you ever find yourself in Topeka, ditch the chain hotel & stay at this adorable & quaint hotel with character!!!!
google avatar

Angie S.

Yelp
When I first called - the lady was super nice and noticed I was staying for a couple days and gave me a free upgrade to the King Suite which was like an apartment almost. It had the bedroom, a side room with a couch and the bathroom off of that room, and a kitchen (sink, microwave, mini fridge). I also had a balcony which was so nice to have the door open on the nice days. A little FYI, you are in central downtown Topeka, and not in maybe the MOST safe area - so please be aware. When I travel I travel by myself and don't have other people with me... so I am very aware of my surroundings. I believe the police station is close by, so that is reassuring. Overall a cute place and cozy hotel. I just had to work on my nervousness of security and safety, but overall it was a great place. A little confusing to find the front desk, but cute. They do have free WiFi which is nice.

Yelp
Next time you stop in Topeka overnight STAY HERE! This place has the charm of a bed and breakfast. The rooms are large and very roomy, a perfect word to describe it is quaint. The hotel staff was accommodating and helpful, the bed was comfortable and the entire hotel was very clean. I especially loved balcony off the room. Great breakfast with quite a few choices and good coffee! My only criticism is that there is no parking on site, you have to park across the street in their parking lot. Not a big deal, but if you are toting quite a bit of luggage, this could be an issue. This has to be one of the best kept secrets in Topeka. By all means, don't stay in your run of the mill hotel chain, for the same amount you can stay in this wonderful place.

Yelp
Love our room! It is so gorgeous! It's perfect for our Aniversary getaway! The hot tub suite was perfect and it felt so homey! :)

Yelp
Stayed three nights and was mostly pleased. Pros: The staff was friendly. The room was large with four full rooms plus an entry hall. We had a balcony. There was laundry facilities. Price was good and the hotel was much nicer than the lower priced chains. Cons: There was no toaster. There was no utensils or dishes even though we had a kitchen. The location is not walking distance to anything other than the Capitol, CVS, or Walgreens. There might have been some fast food place too...we don't eat fast food. Overall I would recommend the Senate. It was clean and the 1920's architecture is great.

Yelp
Price with Yelp deal was great compare to prices hotels around there but inside not quite sure it's worth $79. Walked in the room the bed is like right there then bathroom on one side little dining area with fridge on another side. Go straight to bacony. Thought about something romantic place but neighborhood itself wasn't so good police siren was running pretty much all night. Door key was still old fashion, almost every step you walked make sound from being so old, breakfast have good variety as other most hotels. Over all it's worth the paid.

Yelp
Great rooms for the price. Best in Topeka, Imo. Laundry facilities, pool table. Coffee always brewing, daily local paper. The place is OLD but well taken care of. Staff is courteous and kind. The old guy can't hear. Don't take it as he is ignoring you or doesn't care. He is a nice guy. Bed was comfortable, water pressure on shower was low but it came out fast for the bath faucet. Flat screen in living area and an older tv in the other bedroom. Second bedroom didn't have a tv. This is my second time back. If I come to Topeka I will probably stay here again. :^ )

Yelp
This place is Awesome! Great staff and very clean rooms and the beds are comfortable. I asked the front office rep., Albert, if they had any availability for today and explained that we just drove from AZ to KS, he told me that I could check In early because they had a room available. The staff at the front desk, including Albert and Kyrsten, are a fine example of how we should treat one another. When I visit Topeka in the future I will be staying here. It's cozy like a home away from home! Thank you, Kyle & Sarah

Yelp
This place is the BEST. A 1920s building, clean and bright, with an astounding staff. I wanted a room, bed and shower. For what I would pay for that, there was a sitting room, kitchenette and balcony thrown in. I had some extra requests (arrive early, leave late...) and they didn't blink an eye. People should go to Topeka just to stay here. Then there is the "Continental" breakfast. I was expecting a croissant and coffee. There was that, PLUS eggs, sausage, fruit, bagels, doughnuts, English muffins, jam, honey, cream cheese, and I probably forgot something. And for the night-owls, there's coffee 24/7. I tell ya, if it was an apartment, I'd live in Topeka. Can't wait 'til they open one in Columbus!
google avatar

Dannale S.

Yelp
My husband calls this place Topeka's best kept secret. This place was built in 1921 as a mansion for someone. It then was remodeled and was apartments. In 1991 it became a hotel and it is wonderful! It may be old but it is very clean, bright, and cozy! The basement has morning breakfast, a pool table and two washer and dryers. It also has a exercise room with an above ground hot tub. The price was very good too! Nightly rate for a master bedroom and living room with nice pull out queen size bed. Also a dinette area. It was $95 a night but the weekly was $60 a night! Couldn't beat that! Staff was VERY friendly and helpful. We will defiantly be coming here again whenever we travel through Topeka !

Yelp
During a cross-country road trip, we spent our first night at The Senate Luxury Suites. We were stunned by how awesome this building is. Gorgeous architecture and nicely landscaped. The rear entry is locked from the outside and they have security cameras all around the grounds, so we felt totally safe. The lady who checked us in was extremely friendly. We stayed in one of the rooms with two bedrooms and a living space in between. Totally adorable. We were surprised to find there was also an enclosed porch. Some of the other units had an open balcony with porch swings. The windows could all be opened, which was refreshing. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom and vanity were updated and there was a television in the living room and one of the bedrooms. There was a mini fridge and a coffee pot. We couldn't believe that such a nice room was so inexpensive. It was so incredibly charming, I was tempted to stay another night in Topeka or take our same route back home so we could visit again. If you're in Topeka sight-seeing, this hotel is just a few blocks from the state capital building, with some fantastic architecture to see. You should consider giving this place your business so it will still be around if we ever wind up in Topeka again.

Yelp
I stayed here while traveling through Topeka. The hotel was great, super cute architecture. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast in the morning was great. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Excellent value, very accommodating staff, and overall great stay in a very cool building. So much better than the typical chain on the interstate.

Yelp
Nice rooms. Our room had a nice balcony and a separate sitting area. Basic breakfast buffet. Downtown is a little dead on the weekends, but there are a few restaurants within walking distance. Very nice, especially for the $88 price

Yelp
Great rooms with balcony. Cool older building right by the capital. Very friendly staff.

Yelp
This hotel has a really cool old building and they're pet friendly! That was a serious hurdle in some places. The suite was nicer than you'd have any right to expect at such a low price point, with a functional if small kitchen, a nice little living room, and a comfortable bedroom. It's also close to a few restaurants, there's a sweet little dive bar a few blocks away that serves some great beers. We had a room with a view of the capitol building, though being on the first floor it wasn't especially majestic.

Yelp
Interesting place - the decor is... quirky. However, the staff is very friendly and helpful. It was quite clean and a good value for the price. I left my wallet there. They found it and sent it to me right away for no charge. If I ever go back to Topeka, I'll certainly stay at the Senate Luxury Suites again.

Yelp
It was lovely. 1920s apartments turned into a hotel in the 90 s. Large rooms, walk in closet, kitchenette, little balcony and basic breakfast. Staff was friendly and price was reasonable. Beds comfortable. Would stay next time I go thru Topeka. Also for a fee they take dogs.

Yelp
My husband and I booked rooms here for some out-of-town guests for our wedding. Everyone had a great experience. They gave us a great discount for having blocked off some rooms for the wedding. Those who stayed there said that their rooms were comfortable and breakfast was great. Definitely choose Senate Suites over a hotel chain!

Yelp
We were traveling cross country and just needed a room for the night. The hotel was very clean and quite. The hot tub was great after being stuck in a car all day and the bed was exactly what we needed. The room had all the same features of the chain hotels and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a place in Topeka, this is a great stay for the price.

Yelp
We love this place. We've stayed here several times over the last couple of years and have always enjoyed our stay. The staff is very friendly, rooms are clean with a view of the Capitol building. Free breakfast and rewards program to boot!

Yelp
In all the business travels this is my all time favorite hotel. I don't know why they would want to update the decor or anything except the shower water pressure. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Pool table, laundry and there is a variety of hot drinks like teas available all the time downstairs. It is downtown with some entertaining characters around, if you are nervous about walking around then don't but I have never felt unsafe day or night even though a lone female, I park the car and walk everywhere except for food. Just follow the eye contact rules and you will be fine. BTW the Mexican place across the road is not worth a quick margarita. It is worth getting the suite because the bedroom is away from typical hotel hallway noise and it is nice to have a true living room. Overall this is a treat for being away from home and could stay here for a month.

Yelp
This place was wonderful. I was headed to Topeka for the birth of my grandson. I was on the road and trying to arrange everything. The staff on the phone made it very simple to book my room at 75 miles per hour. They even helped me to get the best deal. When I arrived, I found a lovely facility with incredibly friendly staff. The breakfast was good and the staff was very accommodating. The beds are comfortable and the rooms spacious. I will never stay at another hotel in Topeka again.

Yelp
Fell in love with the picture of the the front of the building when we were looking for a hotel. So glad we picked it now. It's a gorgeous neat historical building from the late 1920s. Upon reading more reviews on here and trip advisor we found that many people believe that it's haunted. We asked the front desk and they told us they hear a lot of stories from guests but that they've never encountered anything. Whether you believe in that stuff or not it adds a certain something extra to your visit. Not your everyday stay but well worth the money. They also gave us a military discount which was great. The suite had 2 bedrooms and a sitting area. Definitely can't get that much room for such a great price elsewhere. I didn't get to try the breakfast because I was having surgery that day & couldn't eat before but my mother raved about it. The only downside we could find was the pipes tend to creak a bit throughout the night, but that's expected with an old building. Overall great stay.

Yelp
Great place to stay and great value too...blows away the freeway strip motels. We couldn't get a room at the Woodward and my wife found this gem. It's old but updated and has CHARACTER. Highly recommended. Helpful and thoughtful staff too. Did I say great value? Give this one a try, you're sure to be glad you did.

Yelp
The hotel itself is very nice, old,but in good condition. The only downfall was they advertise a "breakfast buffet". Which on Saturday runs from 7:30-10am, we were down there at 7:30 and the worker was just starting to set it up, not to mention it was more of a continental breakfast with bagels, toast etc. they did have a "make your own Belgian waffles" station, but should have offered more toppings, as the other hot food was microwaved bacon and eggs... YUCK!!

Yelp
I hated it. The rooms where ok. One flatscreen tv in main room, one older tv in main bed room. But the bathroom was in the main bathroom so it was annoying to use. 2 out of 4 light switches did nothing. No fan switch in bathroom, so all sound could be heard in main bedroom, very awkward. I hope I don't stay here again.
