Highlights

Housed in a vintage 1928 building, this Topeka hotel offers spacious suites with some balconies, free breakfast, and Wi-Fi, though its charm could use a refresh.

I tried to stay here. I made a reservation and it was confirmed. After my 10-hour drive, I was ready for a relaxing evening. The hotel was completely dark, the parking lot was empty, and all the doors were locked when I got there. They didn't answer their phone and I was stranded. The area was sketchy, too. Luckily, another hotel down the road had a few rooms left. So, I guess take your chances.

DO NOT BOOK HERE ! I booked a room on Feb 7, 2023 and arrived in the evening Feb 12, 2023, along with a coworker who had also booked a room. When we arrived the place was a ghost town. We called the number and were told the hotel was sold and was no longer a hotel. Neither of us were contracted and the person just told us to leave and hung up the phone. I will say that the person on the phone said the new ownership was planning on a redevelopment to longer term housing. But based on our experience I would be very cautious doing business with whomever took over the facility. Fortunately we were able to get rooms at the Ramada near by and it seems safer, cleaner, and overall looks like a much better place to stay.

Ive stayed in alot of places but this was probably the most interesting. Place looks way past it's prime and abandoned, grounds were unkept, the main entrance is closed, I only found the entrance in the alley because there happened to be like 3 cars parked there. You walk in this entrance and it's dark and looks like an abandoned building, then wander around until you find the desk. The guy behind the desk was cool. The elevator was sketchy, the room was quite large and had a balcony but it just looked old with old furniture and things were covered in dust. Not a big deal, I slept fine and that was the main purpose. but what a weird place. If you want to stay in something like this I recommend it otherwise I'd look elsewhere 😂

The rooms are cozy and pretty spacious. The beds are comfy after a full day of driving. The grounds definitely need some TLC. The elevator is an experience, it also needs some love as well. The grinding sounds convinced us to take the stairs.

Although this building and rooms could be an amazing place to stay, this was one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. First, they did not have the room we reserved. We were told they were short staffed so they weren’t ready. They finally “found” a 2 full bed suite, so we stayed. The room was not very clean, you could see toothpaste spittle on the bathroom faucet. Cute balcony, but it was unlocked when we first arrived. The shower curtain had mildew on it. The sheets and pillow cases in one room smelled like they were not clean (just odor, because I think they were clean) , but not in the other. The breakfast was not as advertised, with just waffles being hot. Now, to be fair it was $94 for a night in downtown Topeka.

I had to pre pay for 2 nights. By the way the booking company said non refundable. We arrived @317pm August 11for a 2 night stay. Upon arrival we noticed very few lights were on SAFETY HAZARD. The desk clerk Alonzo advised they had just got the power back on. But no cable or internet were going to be available. He took us up on elevator. It sounded as if a train wreck happened. We got to our room on 3rd floor the floor smelled like every was smoking pot. The room was dirty. Poop in the toliet. I could write my name in dust in the room. Room looked as if it had not been painted for decades. The carpeting stunk of dirt and must. This place needs to be inspected by the city of Topeka. If it were. It would be closed and torn down. And shame on the reservation company and internet posting that represented this building as where someone might stay. I wouldn't let my dog sleep in this hotel. Shame on you and shame on Topeka allowing this travesty to continue.

How quaint! It is a very large motel with so much history. Our room had a balcony that we so enjoyed. It's NOT a new building it was built in 1928 but it has all modern things that we needed. The bed was so very comfortable and the room was very clean. Nice quiet night very nice and polite staff. Will definitely stay again when in Topeka! Thank you!
