We went on a trip to Eger last Wednesday, and after visiting Eger Castle, we stopped here in the Senator House Bistro for lunch. We arrived before 1 pm and took a seat on the terrace. When the young waiter took our order, I asked how long do we have to wait for lunch, he said about 15 minutes, maximum 20 minutes. Since we ordered ready-made food, this time frame was acceptable. I ordered Spaghetti Bolognese, and "A" Menu, which included Chicken ragout soup, and Salmon Penne, and two soft drinks. After half an hour I told the waiter that, the 10 years old child with me was already very hungry, he promised to tell the kitchen. Another 10 minutes he brought the soup, the another 15 minutes later the main course. The Chicken ragout soup had an average taste, was medium thick, contained thinly sliced carrots, green peas and a few small fingertip-sized pieces of meat, which was not typical of chicken meat, but more like pieces of fish. This can be easily distinguish because they differ significantly in texture and taste. It's likely that the chef or cook didn't distribute the chicken properly, and in the end, there was no chicken left, so he replaced it with pieces of fish. The shef supervises the preparation of dishes, ensuring quality and quantity. The Salmon Penne was a bit tasteless, if they had added pepper and parmesan cheese, the dish would have been tastier. The Spaghetti Bolognese was tasty, made according to a classic recipe. The service was kind and polite, but very slow.

Room with a slant and a small window. Cleanliness at a poor level, nails were lying on the floor. Bathroom from the 80s in need of renovation, room also needs a decent cleaning. Breakfast room very small, breakfast poor, often lacked cold meat or vegetables. There was no fruit even once!!! The staff were in no hurry to replenish the food. The only plus point was the location and the comfortable bed. I don't think I would go back there.

According to information available on the booking platform reception was to be open till 6PM. I was trying to check in at 5.30 PM. Nobody was present, all doors closed. I called the hotel - whoever picked up my call just kept repeating that the reception is today closed already, provided me with no useful information, no solutions, no help, not to mention something as basic as apologies. After a long day I was just left standing in front of closed door. I tried to call the hotel 3 more times, but nobody brothered to pick up the phone these times. A very disappointing, extremely unprofessional and simply rude approach. Fortunately, Eger has lots of other places.

The best chicken soup I had in a long time🤩 And the "édes lányom" is a perfect wine for some dessert, we really liked it!

Haven't stayed here at all and now I would not even consider it. Got an answer to my question in more than 2 weeks afterwards and in Hungarian. Sorry, I don't speak Hungarian cause I am a foreigner and working in tourism field, you should know that and respect it. Very bad customer service.

Below average food, the Cesar salad was a blank pile of salad leaves and some over fried chicken on top. Soups were ok, nothing special. The service was extremely slow, had to wait 1h for the above mentioned salad. They also messed up the orders of our table and one person got their food a whole 30 min after everyone else.

Love this place. Central, modest but perfect stay always.

Senator Haz is one of Eger city’s iconic institutions. The small boutique style hotel is carrying the torch of the previous management: “Csöpi néni & Bandi bácsi”. The managing couple made Senator Haz to a must to visit institution in Eger with their soul and spirit, what you miss now. The restaurant was also a must to visit place, hopefully it will be reopened soon.
