Senator Puerto Plata Hotel

Cristi Leidy in the sport bar was very great and welcoming I had a great time at this sports bar! The atmosphere was perfect for catching the game — plenty of TVs, great sound, and you can see the action from every seat. The staff was super friendly and quick with service, even when it got busy. Food came out hot and fresh, and the wings were some of the best I’ve had. Drinks were cold, reasonably priced, and they didn’t skimp on the pour. It’s the kind of spot where you feel comfortable hanging out for hours with friends. Definitely my go-to place whenever I want to relax, watch sports, and enjoy good food.

When I booked it was because of the beautiful rooms they advertised.. we did not get that. No problem tho cause I don’t complain about the rooms even if I didn’t get what I thought I was. ||I have read soo many reviews about the animation team but only ever encountered 2, monkey black and blacky and that was because they simply came to chat, which we thought was nice. Idk where they are allday but clearly not where we were lol ||50 min drive from the airport, check in quick and simple. We were in building 800 so very close to everything. ||I have never seen a better laid out resort, it’s a perfect size and everything is close. Large pools but ugh, I was extremely disappointed in the cleanliness of the pools, and we’re here at low season! (Yes we’re still here, we leave soon)||I have never been to a resort (and I have been to at least 25-30 all down south in different places) that didn’t provide can beer in the mini fridge, that was a disappointment for me.||The beach, ugh again, never been to a resort where you actually NEED water shoes. I didn’t bring any but if you come, bring them! Very limited spots where it’s just sand. ||Staff? Amazing! All friendly and happy to be here! ||Never been to a resort where there’s no ashtrays either! Luckily on our first day, a couple overheard us looking for one and gave me a tin that was for mints previously, and it worked like a charm our whole week! Thank you!!!||I have never been to a resort that only offers 2 a la carts, so that wasn’t cool. The buffet is the same every day, the last day I didn’t eat anything. ||My daughter loved the coffee shop, that was great. ||Lobby and grounds are beautiful and again, the best laid out resort I’d ever been to. If it wasn’t for the couple small things, I’d come back. ||One more thing.. as my daughter is giving me grief about writing about negative things, the air conditioner… if you’ve read the reviews about the AC in the rooms, they’re all true 😩 my 23 year old daughter was fine but as a 47 year old pre menaposL woman, I need AC and it was barely existent 😔||I do recommend this resort, but unfortunately I will not be back. Just came back here's a review, I will would have give it a 3.5 but it's not an available option : First off let's start by saying this isn't a 5 star hotel. I did a dozens of trips in the DR, Cuba, Mexico, and St-Marteen, and saw what real 5 stars are and this isn't it. Also I started by righting up a long review but now Google divides it into sections so I just cut and paste my reviews in the different sections. Let's start by the positive : The grounds are beautiful, it's a really small resort which we like and it is well kept. The beach is not big but guest also have access to the next door resort beach and facilities so it gives access to lots of chairs and shades. Now I would categorize this as bad but I know I am in the minority but absolutely no waves, so if you expect fun in the waves don't. And the sand section of the beach is really shallow. You had to get on your knees or sit to be submerged. If you go further out or to the left side of the beach bring water shoes. A lot of urchins in the Rocky sections as well. We had our snorkeling gear and saw nice fish along the Rocky sections. The staff is really friendly All and all we had a nice week, if it wasn't for the room in such a poor shape it would have been a 4-4.5, and like I said we didn't change room because talking with other guests it seems to be like this in every room. If they put the effort and renovate the rooms especially the bathrooms and install decent AC, it would be a much better experience.

Stayed at Senator hotel for 12 days. July 25 to August 06, 2025. The location is great , but the rooms needs urgent attention. Food was great . Lots of choice. The sports bar was amazing as well. Amazing hamburgers ! Front desk not so friendly but one in particular ( Mr. Gomez) was exceptional! Was always willing to help. I would consider returning if the rooms would be renovated.

I loved the service at this resort! Everything is gorgeous but what was more beautiful was the heart of the people who work there! I went to the sports bar and became friends with the bartenders! Maria specifically was a great time delicious drinks, funny jokes, and a warm soul! Araceli’s, Jose Manuel, and Carlos were also great bartenders. Highly recommend the resort and sports bar!

During my stay at this resort, I found both positive and negative aspects worth mentioning. ✅ The positive: The staff is friendly, attentive, and always willing to assist. The food was varied and of good quality, which made the dining experience enjoyable. ⚠️ The negative: The rooms have serious maintenance issues, particularly with the air conditioning, which does not work properly. This greatly affects guest comfort. When the issue was raised, the response was disappointing: instead of providing a proper solution or refund, management suggested upgrading to a VIP package to access basic amenities that should already be included in the standard booking. 📌 Conclusion: While the food and staff service meet expectations, the poor condition of the rooms and the way complaints are handled result in a very unsatisfactory experience. Significant improvements are needed for this resort to truly deliver on what it promises.

My experience was great except when I lost my wrist band they were not willing to accommodate and was charging me $100 which is totally unreasonable. They should make the importance of wrist band clear to their every customer as they enter the hotel. Even the manager was not helpful. Other than this issue, we had a great time. The sport bar was the best especially because of the people who work there. Just a few to mention: Domingo, Manuel, Aisha and Johan were absolutely amazing.

Excellent service. I will stay there again in August. The food is very good, the service is very good. The best of the mini club Blondy excellent. Take care of the children as they are their children with her I feel that my children are safe. Thank you for everything. If they have to change it's something and it's that the children can't be in the pool where the bar is. It's very uncomfortable to look for drinks and many children there with their parents
