My wife and I spent a week at the resort for our honeymoon, and from the moment we arrived, the experience was incredible. We booked a private transfer from the airport, which I highly recommend to avoid the chaos at check-in and to increase your chances of a room upgrade. Our arrival was quick and stress-free, and it set the tone for a fantastic stay.
The true highlight of this resort is the Dominican hospitality. Every staff member we encountered was warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. We were treated like family rather than guests. Our concierge, Starling (who goes by Star), was amazing and always available to answer questions and help with anything we needed. Domingo and the entire team at Legends Sports Bar made it feel like a place we had been visiting for years — always smiling, energetic, and attentive. Along with great drinks, Legends also offered quick snacks and a variety of sports to watch, which we loved.
There were plenty of food options throughout the resort. The buffet was open three times a day and always had a good mix of familiar dishes and new things to try. At busy times it could feel a little chaotic, mostly because of impatient guests, but the staff worked incredibly hard to keep things running smoothly. For quick bites, we constantly visited Mokka for amazing coffee and sweet treats, grabbed fresh thin-crust pizza from P’Up Pizza, and finished it off with gelato just across the street.
We also enjoyed the specialty restaurants, including the Japanese experience at ZAO, which was fun and flavorful, and the Embers steakhouse, which was a great à la carte dinner option. One absolute must-visit was the cigar and rum shop — Heribert took amazing care of us and helped make our last full day unforgettable.
Entertainment was plentiful, with nightly shows at the outdoor amphitheater that were energetic and engaging. While there were lots of pool activities like games and foam parties, we personally preferred spending our time on the beach.
The beach was beautiful and offered quieter, sandy areas further down near the Bachata section, which we loved. Vendors were friendly and respectful, and a simple “no gracias” was always enough. We also found a scenic garden pathway leading to a lookout point that was perfect for sunrise and sunset photos.
Several cruise ships docked at Amber Cove during our stay, so we chose to explore off the resort on busy port days to avoid crowds. Our room in Building 2 was comfortable, well-stocked, and cleaned thoroughly each day. We experienced a couple of brief power outages and a small shower leak, but nothing that impacted our comfort.
We were invited to a resort membership breakfast, declined politely, and noticed no change in service afterward. Overall, we loved every moment of our stay and would absolutely return. The kindness, energy, and culture of the people here made this trip truly unforgettable.
