Amazing week at the Senator Hotel in Puerto Plata! I had such an incredible week at the Senator Hotel in Puerto Plata! The place is beautiful, the food and drinks are great, and the atmosphere is just what you need for a relaxing getaway. A huge shoutout to Ariel, who made every visit to the bar an absolute pleasure — always friendly, attentive, and serving with a smile. And of course to Skinny, who brought an amazing vibe and energy to the pool area with his games, music, and great sense of humor. These two really made my stay unforgettable! The sports bar was also a highlight — perfect spot to grab a drink, watch a game, and meet people. Overall, 8/10 experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The service was satisfactory! There was no alcoholic beverages in the mini fridge. You can only go to 2 ala cartes instead of 3 that they have available. Had occasional times with no power in our room. Entertainment was unfortunately disappointing. Hope they improve on it since the resort has no night club or casino. In terms of the Buffet? Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner could use improvement! Being able to access Playa Bachatta was okay as well. Book your excursions thru the airline you used. It is safer. Buy your souvenirs at the stores down heading towards the Cruise Dock, it's a lot cheaper. You can bargain and get deals. Avoid the promotion to win price for free future accomodations if you do not want to buy into time share or whatever. Enjoy.

Beautiful resort and beach, well maintained and lots of activities. I think rooms were abit out dated, wifi was decent. Not alot of choices on tv channels. Loved the staffs here and buffet was good. Restaurants i think like other visitors comments, we enjoyed the japanese and the steakhouse. After seeing other resorts i think this place was one of the best in the area.

We spent 10 days at this resort and we liked it very much. Most of the times it was pretty quiet, except for the weekend when the locals visit, or when a cruise ship arrives. On those days there are still plenty of spaces left, but just a but more busy. The food and and drinks are pretty good for all inclusive standards, and if you tip a little the service is excellent. The beaches are very clean and there is a small more secluded beach across from the cruise docks. It feels more like a private beach and has a all inclusive bar as well. The rooms get cleaned daily and are very nice. The minibar gets a daily restock with still and sparkling water, Pepsi and 7up. The entertainment is ok and mostly in Spanish, but still fun to watch. Overall a very nice resort which I can definitely recommend. At last: big up to my man Ariel, Thanks for all the drinks!

We've had an amazing holiday! Almost every afternoon we went to the sports bar after dinner. There is 24/7 service for drinks and you can watch sports unlimited. Cristi and Clase were in the bar delivering amazing services! She asked almost immediately after I finished my drink if I wanted another one. By far the best holiday yet!

Cristi and Clase in the sport bar were sooooo amazing. So was the other staff. She was really nice and made amazing drinks. Your glas will never be empty. There was always a good an atmosphere so it was the go to place in our holiday. Staff is also really friendly and always in for a chit chat or laugh.

My husband and I traveled here from the US as a 5th Year Wedding Anniversary and friend group trip toward the end of September 2025. We stayed at the all-inclusive resort Senator. PROS: The buffet, Italian Restaurant, and Steakhouse were phenomenal places to eat. Service staff was attentive to needs. Pool was clean. Great views from the lookout point. Beach was decent; excellent to nap with the ambient sounds of the waves. My husband enjoyed the coffee shop. I liked the ice cream shop (marker as Gelato, but definitely ice cream). Pizza shop was okay. The Sandwhich shop was edible food. CONS: Rooms and portions of the resort would lose power for a few minutes a few times daily. On weekends, the buffet lines were long, being a battle to find plates and glasses, and long lines (weekday was not an issue). French fries were absolutely terrible. I wish there was a more of a selection of Dominican foods available at the buffet. Our toilet stopped working (but was corrected). Toilet paper was some of the worst I've ever had (missed out home bidet). Transportation off the resort to go see local life was more involved and complicated than need be. During Your Stay Tips: CPAP wearers : please modify your machines to adjust to the HIGH HUMIDITY to get great nights' sleep. Wash cloths: If you use wash cloths liberally to Bathe, please bring your own. Bring Baby Wipes: yes the toilet paper was that bad. Water shoes: WEAR THEM when visiting the beach. I had the misfortune of stepping on a sea urchin that I must now get addressed in removal of spines Get involved with the activities such as dance classes

Family getaway turned into starving family! Came here with my mother and her boyfriend and me with my husband. This place is beyond beautiful gorgeous pools beautiful beaches. Rooms spacious with cold ac, water bottles. Friendly housekeeping, guest services were amazing. All in all this all inclusive resort is the spot... NOW let's talk food. This place leaves nothing to be desired when your hungry. Buffet...cold. romantic dinners that you order your way that cost $180.00 overcooked. We felt like we were starving. Luckily the legends bar has great burgers.I'll update after my dinner tomorrow night. 10/12/25 update: guest services tried to make our bad experience for our Donner right by gifting us complimentary champagne and wine. The good food other than legends is the hibachi. If we ever come back we will just book the hibachi every night.
