Google
Super cute spot to grab some ice cream and enjoy the great vibes! It didn’t take long at all to get our order in, and the ice cream was delicious. We also checked out the diner next door, and it was just as charming—the staff at both places were super friendly and the service was quick. Definitely would return!

20250521 Came here to get some fried chicken for my finicky pup. The ladies working here are very nice. I ordered a garden salad and 3 pieces dark meat with Mac and cheese and beans. The garden salad was ok. It only has iceberg lettuce, cucumber slices, tomatoes and some cheese. I don't recommend it unless you really need some veggies. It would have been better if they add an egg. The fried chicken was delicious! My pup loved it! The corn fritters were amazing!! The best I ever had! I would definitely come back for their dried chicken. The entrance to the diner is on the side where the parking lot is. Facing the street is the entrance to the ice cream shop. The employee working in the ice cream shop was soooo nice and informative. I didn't get ice cream because my pup is diabetic... no more ice cream for her, and I can't eat it in front of her. The ice cream products look delicious! They have ice cream cakes and sandwiches too. He mentioned they have a gift shop across the street.

Google
The ice cream was decadent and fresh tasting. They had vegan options. I highly recommend two or three visits. We didn't eat the food but there were lines out the door!

Google
Cute spot for ice cream, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it. My friend and I were on a girls trip, and she wanted to revisit this place from her childhood. While it didn’t quite live up to her memory, it was still tasty overall. I ordered the bubble gum ice cream, which had actual pieces of gum in it—fun, but the pieces were a bit hard. Personally, I prefer soft serve, and while they do offer a few soft serve options, I would’ve liked to see more variety in that category. If you’re already in town, it’s worth a quick stop and does seem popular with locals, but I probably wouldn’t make a special trip for it.

My wife and I have been doing some sight- seeing in the Finger Lakes region (visiting from Texas) and just happen to drive by and the white and red exterior caught our attention. We turned around to go back and check them out (5/25/25, their 75th anniversary). The parking area was very busy as well as the dining room and the enclosed pavilion out back. At first we walked into the ice cream shop in front but then we went to the back for the dining room. The lady at the counter asked about taking out order and we exlained that about the curb appeal of the restaurant from the road got our attention and we had never been there. She was very pleasant and helpful with describing what they had to offer. We decided to get a 4-pc meal and share just to try it out. I do not regularly eat fried chicken (on the bones) but we after taking a few bites, we just looked at each other amazed at the taste of the chicken and how well the chicken was cooked. Today, we made a special trip to to drive back here from Bath, NY, just to have lunch. We ordered the Family Meal just so we could take some with us to eat later. Hitting the ice cream shop next specifically for the Banana Split, which uses the 3-flavors of ice cream like I remember a a kid (in Illinois). Most places we have seen around the country (including DQ) uses all vanilla ice cream with the jar flavored toppings. This place is as good as it gets for great dining in the Finger Lakes area. Enjoy!

Google
This ice cream is good. Sometimes it is a bit freezer burnt because I imagine their freezers are open all the time since they are so busy. I tend to find the more popular flavors have less ice in them. That said, this is a super cute place, it is even worth going just for the atmosphere. If you want the best ice cream in town, go to The Spotted Duck, this is probably the best ice cream/custard I've ever had.

Google
This is a very good ice cream shop. Everything was great; service, ice cream, outdoor seating, price. Stopped by twice already.

JJ B.

Google
Delicious homemade ice cream! The place was hopping on a Thursday night! Service was fast! The selection of flavors was expansive! The cookies and cream and butter pecan and salted caramel were delicious!! Outdoor seating is great! A slice out of pure Americana! This is what I think of when looking for a small hometown Summer evening ice cream shop!

Finnley H.

Yelp
Amazing food, ice cream and people. I love coming here with my family. The chicken is so good l. It has a great atmosphere to. They also have a store.

Yelp
My wife, teenage son, and I stopped here for ice cream in early July 2025 on a very hot and muggy evening. The interior is cozy with a red Coca-Cola theme, but there's a larger area with outdoor seating in the back and drive-thru window. It was packed with folks! Service was prompt for trying their home-made ice cream. I ordered the cookies-n-cream which was good but not great. A key ingredient seemed to be missing as it was less sweet than expected. Also, it had a lumpy uneven texture that made it somewhat difficult to eat. Perhaps I had unreasonably high expectations from other places like Ben & Jerry's (in Vermont) or Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream (in Columbus, OH). That said, it's worth a visit to Seneca Farms if you're in Penn Yan. A lot of people seemed to enjoy the fried chicken.

Yelp
What better way to end a trip than fried chicken and ice cream! This meal was incredible but definitely but us in a coma hahah! We loved getting to enjoy this place with good friends!
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Yes it is a little pricier for their ice cream than other places in the area but it's worth it! They have a drive through option for ice cream which is so cool. Plenty of seating outside and there's also a fun area for kids to play.
google avatar

Yelp
My family and I stopped in on our way to Central NY and I'm glad we did. Fried chicken was the main menu item we came for, and the dark meat combo was out of this world. For sides we got hush puppies, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes which were all well done. We ended up sitting outside (and there is a bunch of space out back) and they call you to pick up via a loudspeaker, nice and easy. I'm unsure if they are open in the winter but there are about 6 tables inside so plan accordingly! Nice place, friendly staff, and roadside fried chicken and ice cream. We'll be back next time we are passing through!
google avatar

Timothy C.

Yelp
Outstanding homemade ice cream - so many varieties! Did not have the opportunity to try kitchen items,
google avatar

Tracy P.

Yelp
We stopped in this evening for dinner. The staff was helpful and the food was delicious. Almost everyone had fried chicken and the grilled chicken salad was very fresh. We sat outside under a pavilion and it was very convenient for our large group and a 2 year old that could walk around between bites

Yelp
As usual, the chicken family pack was DELICIOUS!! I LOVE the corn fritters, Cole slaw and macaroni salad! We didn't want to miss the homemade ice cream....peanut butter ripple is my favorite!! Staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean and neat. Perfect place to meet family in the area.
google avatar

Ryan J.

Yelp
Great service, great chicken, definitely a must-go if you're in the area. We had a chicken combo and chicken sandwich and they were both awesome!

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS JUST AMAZING!!!! Second time going this trip and went to get the ice cream this time and it was so good. Friendly staff, Amazing ice cream and chicken and love the decor they have for Coca Cola at Seneca farms. Would definitely recommend coming here and get the soft serve and go sit below the heater.
google avatar

Aaron M.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Fried chicken has best flavored breading I've ever had. Nice outdoor seating areas where kids can play as well.
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
I'm only in the area once a year but never fail to make a visit to Seneca Farms! There are so many ice cream flavors, and sorbet and soft serve/custard! Not only can you get scoops but you can get milkshakes and sundaes and floats. I've had pretty much each kind but haven't made my way through all the flavors yet. The staff is constantly working and even though there is some wait, they are trying their best. They're all super friendly and give you generous tasting scoops too! There's not a lot of seating inside but there are some covered tables outside. The parking lot is almost always full, so you may need to walk to get in line.

Rachel K.

Yelp
Trying to go every evening after dinner for our vacation week. So many options. Extremely friendly staff. Drive thru option perfect if you already have some people in pajamas. But also the indoor and outdoor seating options are plentiful and varied. Souvenir shop across the lot closes earlier than ice cream but offers lots of town-branded items and an assortment of other items to add to your memorabilia collection.

Stu C.

Yelp
We almost skipped this one but I'm so glad we listened to the recommendation of our host. Sides were pretty standard fare but the Fried chicken was out of this world.
google avatar

Rita J.

Yelp
Someone said they had the best chicken Famous chicken? Not the day I stopped. The fingers are horribly dry, tasteless and the Mac and cheese, bland. Think cafeteria style sums it up. Sadly only the sides, slaw and the fritters were the standouts. Counter service was average. Inside was small, with a few high tables and booths. Outdoor area as well. They are advertising as air conditioned dining room, not so. Spent a very long time sweating and uncomfortably waiting for my order.
google avatar

Andy B.

Yelp
After having a disappointing KFC dinner yesterday I needed a good fried chicken. Working in the area someone suggested Seneca farms. I said "we're not shopping for Christmas trees". I'm glad we went beaches this has to be one of the best fried chicken dinners I've had! I don't even mind spending $13 on a lunch. It was great food and plenty of it! Service was great also! 5 stars

Yelp
YUM!! If your visiting Penn Yan this is your #1 stop for a Southern-fried dream!! Seneca Farms has it all- from fresh, homemade ice cream, to merch, to the best fried chicken you'll find in a 50-mile radius. Make sure to give yourself enough time, the wait can be long (they are busy but efficient) but it's so worth it!! Enjoy
google avatar

Yelp
Ice cream has a really nice base texture and flavor! The heath crunch needs more mix ins.

Yelp
We're loyal customers and have been coming here for years. Tonight's chicken was the usual fantastic! The ice cream portions were pathetic. A kiddie sundae and a regular sundae are pictured. The smallest sundaes ever from here. Tiny dollop of whipped cream. When we asked about the sizing and expressed displeasure, there was absolutely no positive customer service. They didn't care. $11.50 wasted. It's going to take a lot to get me here again, which is too bad.

Yelp
Amazing chicken and ice cream. Staff very friendly and professional. I have visited Seneca Farms for years. If you love fried chicken, Seneca Farms is the place to go.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute small-town spot along route 54 as you enter Penn Yan. They have a drive through for fried chicken and ice cream set up in the store. They have all sorts of old-fashioned decor inside and the store front is bright red and white which really sticks out along the highway. I went on a weeknight with my wife and it was rush hour for high schoolers and kids in little league baseball uniforms. They have a ton of outdoor seating out back.
google avatar

Jen J.

Yelp
Such delicious soft serve custard! We went on a packed Friday night after a rainstorm and these folks can work a long line. Great crowd control! Everyone loved their ice cream and the options are endless. We ate outside at a table and enjoyed the night air as we gobbled our treats.

Tom S.

Yelp
Very casual seasonal business. Combination of a Drive In ice cream stand and diner. Inside and outside seating. Enjoyed an excellent fish fry. Would stop again if in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Yelp
Really liked this place. Super friendly service and delicious fried chicken. You can specify white meat, mixed or dark meat. We got the 12 piece dark meat which includes 6 drumsticks and 6 thighs. Chicken was flavored well and the thigh pieces that were freshly fried were piping hot and juicy. Some drumsticks were tiny but we got some extra pieces as a pleasant surprise. The corn fritters were yummy when eaten with the syrup, tasteless otherwise. The slaw was a bit more chopped up than I'd like, but the flavor is great (good balance of mayo and vinegar). The mashed potato was also very yummy. Needed more mashed potato to go with the gravy! At the end of our meal in the tent out in the back, we went to get ice cream. There were so many flavors but we chose pumpkin pecan, apple crisp, dark cherry and peach. The cherry and peach both had lots of fruit pieces. The ice cream was creamy and delicious. The pumpkin pecan had a tad too much cinnamon flavor but it was still very yummy. All the flavors were distinctive and highly recommended.

Yelp
Delicious legitimate real homemade ice cream.... So good would definitely recommend this to hungry guy looking to fill up sugary goodness!!! Yum Yum Yum

Kip H.

Yelp
Good ice cream and fun spot but you definitely do not get your money's worth. Service is decent. And has nice outdoor setting.

Tracy A.

Yelp
Always great ice cream and great service. Just be prepared to wait in line for a bit, it's always busy. Somewhat of an "old-fashioned" feel, very little seating in ice cream parlor, more seating on the chicken side and plenty of outdoor seating.
google avatar

Cynthia F.

Yelp
Can't wait to return and try other flavors. Butterscotch (hard) ice cream was delicious; very high quality ice cream. Loved it. Convenient drive-up window that seemed popular "small" size was 2 large scoops. Next time I will get "kiddie" size.
google avatar

Jeff A.

Yelp
Sounds like a great place for fried chicken but the chicken tenders were big disappointment compared to the fried chicken legs and breast. Seems to me the the chicken tenders are more like run of the mill frozen tenders that are then dumped in the fryer. The highlight was certainty corn fritters which are a must try. The dipping sauces of honey mustard and blue cheese were on spot as well.

Ralph V.

Yelp
Clean facility with reasonable prices, nice outdoor seating and super friendly & polite employees.

Yelp
We arrived 30 minutes before closing, and were surprised to see so many people in line outside and a long line of cars in the drive thru. We could barely get on the line for the drive thru. After quite some time, we managed to get to the drive thru window, and were told the drive thru window and the window where the long line of people were lining up were only for ice cream orders. For fried chicken, we had to go inside from the back. Fortunately, there was only one other person inside waiting for his order of fried chicken, so we didn't have to wait long to order. My husband and I ordered a family pack (8 pc) with sides of mac & cheese and potato salad to go. Maybe we got the last pieces of chicken, since it WAS closing time, but the fried chicken was meh. It was juicy on the inside, but the outside was not as crispy, in fact it was a kind of dry. The family pack came with corn fritters which I didn't care for, but my husband enjoyed a lot. It tasted like a very oily donut hole with bits of corn in it. The sides of mac & cheese and potato salad were okay as well. Maybe next time we can stop by for some ice cream instead and see what the hype is about.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food. As previous reviews they do get packed very quickly. Especially the line for ice cream. There fried chicken was amazing. Meat and skin. Alot of flavor. I could not get enough. The corn fritter sundee was different but very good. There ice cream was the best. It was simple vanilla but creamy and smooth. Loved it. Definitely worth a stop if in the area.
google avatar

Diana M.

Yelp
This place is cute, but it doesn't really live up to it's famous name of best ice cream in the finger lakes and famous fried chicken. The potato salad and corn fritters were good, but the macaroni and cheese and fried chicken left something to be desired. As far as the ice cream goes the regular ice cream didn't have a lot of flavor. The seasonal custards and sherbets were good though. I don't think we'll be adding it to our list for dinner, but maybe as a pairing with food from elsewhere.
google avatar

Nathan P.

Yelp
Amazing ice cream and all home made! Very yummy and unique flavors too! Cute little place, takes cash or cards! Cute outdoor space as well!
google avatar

Kara B.

Yelp
All I can say is the #1 ranked spot on Yelp is spot on! 5 solid stars for the chicken AND ice cream! This was my first time to the finger lakes, but I could easily tell that Seneca Farms was a true Finger Lakes staple. If you are looking for a fancy, High quality experience, then go somewhere else. But if your looking for fantastic fried chicken or a quick bite to eat, then Seneca Farms is for you! The fried chicken was out of this world!!! And all the sides are home made! I didn't try any of the other menu options, but I can't wait to come back and try them all!!! Plus, all the ice cream flavors are homemade as well!
google avatar

Leeza S.

Yelp
Stopped by for a take out while visiting overnight in Penn Yan. The place was packed which drew us in. My husband was happy to see friend chicken on the menu. It was ok, not the best, not the worst he had ever had. The mashed potatoes were the real deal and very tasty. It appears they have quite the following for their ice cream. Very cute place. Great for kids.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Four stars for the ice cream! Two stars for the food. This place is known for their ice cream and chicken. Sadly we didn't like the chicken and corn fritters. The chicken was well seasoned but was cold and not as crispy as I thought it would be. The corn fritters is just fried dough with corn. We ordered the three piece meal that came with two sides and corn fritters. For the sides we got the Mac and cheese and cole slaw. Cole slaw was good but Mac and cheese was lacking the cheese flavor. Stopped by the other side and the ice cream was amazing! We got two scoops of strawberry cheesecake and cappuccino crunch. The strawberry cheesecake was smooth and delicious. Strawberry frozen bites made the ice cream a little crunchy. Also ordered the peanut butter and cookies and cream frozen custard twist. The peanut butter was too overpowering where we didn't taste the cookies and cream. We recommend having the ice cream by itself without the twist to taste the actual flavor or it. The awesome thing about this place is that they have a drive through and ample parking.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
Without even having gone inside, the fried chicken is 5 stars. I have become quite the connoisseur of fried chicken. This is different that your usual. The best way for me to describe it is a battered, fried chicken. It really can't be compared to the others because it's different! This chicken was so juicy and crispy. My family and I have been talking about how good it was ever since! We didn't try any sides-just the chicken. The outside is adorable in the summer! There's a pavilion with plenty of picnic tables under it. I hear they also have delicious ice cream and a huge food menu. I can't wait to try more!
google avatar

Fork F.

Yelp
Pretty bad sadly went and the food is bad but the people at the counter were nice. It has a really great theme but the corn fritter were bad and the fried chicken was okay at best. My favorite part was the Coca Cola stuff every where but other than that don't go!
google avatar

Kathy F.

Yelp
Best chocolate ice cream that I've had in my life. Service was good and the shoppe was clean.
google avatar

Marcy B.

Yelp
I would definitely hit "great" on the food at Seneca Farms, because we can never stay away. It may be a 30 minute drive, but I would go even further for the chicken tenders and fried chicken any day. I do wish it was a bit quicker and more air conditioned seating was available, but it's hardly a complaint. Love you, Seneca Farms!!

Yelp
We were staying at Keuka Lake and were recommended by one of the locals to stop here. We were glad that we did. We stopped by after a long day travelling to Watkins Glen and the Corning Museum. We picked up some chicken, biscuits and corn fritters for dinner. The chicken was crispy and juicy. We didn't have to wait too long. The biscuits or the corn fritters weren't anything super memorable, but still good nonetheless. We also got a pint of maple ice cream as well. I'm not always a big fan of ice cream, but this was pretty good! Funny story is that we thought the ice cream place and chicken place were all in one area. The ice cream place is at the front. To enter the chicken place, you need to walk around to the other door on the other side. I also remember seeing a sign on the door that they will be closing for the winter season - or maybe they have limited hours during that time?? Anyways, call ahead before you go during the winter.
google avatar

Mary Catherine W.

Yelp
The ice cream here is amazing. We've tasted a dozen across the east coast this summer and this is the best. We ordered white mountain raspberry, Oreo and chocolate chip espresso. All the ice cream is home made in house by the owners.
google avatar

Courtney M.

Yelp
The fried chicken and hush puppies here are soooo good. Also had to get some homemade ice cream. That was amazing too. The outdoor seating is very nice and there is also a small dining area inside.

Yelp
Give this place a try! A hidden gem in this small town. Was very suprised with how good it all was!

Yelp
The best fried chicken around the area! Easy and comfortable atmosphere, we ate in the dining room and enjoyed the picnic style ambiance.

Yelp
The did a great job with an ice cream cake for my daughter's 30th! I loved the wine glass decorations - very appropriate for the Finger Lakes.

Yelp
Ice Cream Review (Drive Thru) only. Did not get chicken: We were staying in Geneva, on Seneca Lake. I like to get ice cream as dessert in the evenings. We tried Peppy's-they didn't even have chocolate scoop ice cream ( come on, no chocolate). I settled for a scoop from a Byrne Dairy Gas and Go store ( yes, they have an ice cream window). Nothing special plus very tiny scoop. So next time, we wanted to go out of our way for Handmade ice cream. Made the 30 min drive to Seneca Falls in Penn Yan on the Keuka. They had a convenient drive thru with a large marquee that gave all the flavors. I got a plain chocolate scoop. Hubby got a cookies and cream sundae. My scoop was big-more like two scoops or 1 1/2. Chocolate taste was pretty good but not really a true rich chocolate. Hubs tasted mine and thought he tasted a mint flavor. To me it wasn't mint-but couldn't put my finger on it. His sundae must have been good because it was gone in record time. Can't give it 5 stars- I'm from a small town with the top-shelf Hoffman's hand made ice cream, and Seneca isn't as good. But it was much better than anything in Geneva and vicinity.

Yelp
Expensive$$$$$ and crowded. Don't think of taking the family there. If you want to spend a bundle. Not working man friendly. They should have a half price nite for Senior's and Children. Old men won't cry!!!! What use to be a cheap family tradition. Is now gone. I understand things have gone up. But should try to take away some of the pain. Of higher living costs. Cater to the locals. Not all the billionaires on the lake. Also could sell homemade popsicles in your gift store. At a reasonable price for us have nots! We can post reviews too! Thank you for listening. And wish you all the best. Lollipops restaurant reviews. JC.
