I Stayed in Rosewood Mayakoba's Wellness Suites — Here's What It Was Like

"A holistic spa offering a range of restorative experiences, from float yoga practiced on boards in the spa pool to breathing workshops led by Ayurveda practitioners. Sessions take place in breezy, mangrove‑lined settings such as a thatched‑roof palapa, and signature rituals include the Kuxtal Sensory Garden Ritual followed by deep aromatherapy massages with personalized oil blends." - Patricia Doherty Patricia Doherty Patricia Doherty is a writer who specializes in covering destinations, resorts, and cruises for Travel + Leisure and other publications. Yelp
Updating my review... The manager of the spa called me to confirm my follow up appointment. No mention of resolution, even when I prompted her asking if there was anything else she was calling about or if anything had been done regarding my visit. So clearly this was not the coaching experience she claimed it was. Definitely not coming back, I was holding out on the small chance that I would get a call back offering some sort of satisfactory resolution. I would say it's unbelievable, but considering how I was treated... It's not. So disappointing, I really wanted this to be my local spa. The aesthetician was wonderful, my issue was entirely with their front desk staff/management. Unfortunately it looks like I'm going to continue visiting my regular aesthetician in Beverly Hills, it's a really long drive but it looks like it's worth it.

Yelp
The spa itself is a really nice place. Everything is marble and hard wood, everything around looks like it's high quality. There is no cheap stuff around this facility. The changing room is very small. The dry sauna and steam rooms are both small, but very good quality. There are not many other amenities to use during your visit to the spa. The waiting area and relaxation rooms are fine, just wish they could do a bit more with the relaxation room, it is next to public areas and corridors, so you can hear a lot of talking unfortunately. The highlight of spa visit was my massage therapist by the name of Mary Jane. I'm really into massages and I am someone who appreciates high quality, attention to detail and artistry. Mary Jane was all of these things. She's really a pleasure to get a massage from. You can tell she enjoys what she does and that she is passionate about what she does. Her attention to detail is impeccable and she's also very smart. Mary Jane is a thorough professional and master of her craft. She's an artist and it's such a delight to be apart of her artistic expression. I came in wanting to relax, destress, and relieve tension, Mary Jane knew exactly what to do and got right to it. Getting to feel her massage me was like watching Thomas Keller cook, or Gustavo Dudamel conduct on orchestra. Its just so natural to them, and they're just so good at it. This spa is pricier than some of the other top spas in the area, yet some of the other top spas offer better amenities, and you can make a day out of your trip to the spa, you can't really do that here. I guess that's the price you pay if you want to hang out at a rosewood. If it weren't for Mary Jane, I may or may not return to this spa. I might rather pay less and go somewhere that has more to offer as a facility. However I really, really want the opportunity to spend more time with Mary Jane. Overall it was a fun day at the spa, I left feeling amazing. That's how one wants to leave a spa after all.

Yelp
Karen is one of the best masseuse I've experienced. I would definitely come back here. Other than the massage there's nothing spectacular about the service and amenities at the spa. It's pretty but nothing short of what you would expect for a resort like this. As the previous reviewer mentioned, it's odd they don't offer tea. One the ladies was kind enough to get me some hot water.

Yelp
The spa is on the second floor and I felt welcomed as I walked in. I was escorted and given a brief tour of the spa. They have a small sauna and steam room but it wasn't functional that day due to pipe issues. I was disappointed. I changed into a robe and went to the waiting area. They offer cold water, dried fruits and nuts. But no hot teas. I was surprised because it is common to have at guest disposal but when I asked, I was offered a tea after my massage. Tea is very economical so I was disappointed it wasn't offered upfront. However, I did have my tea waiting when I was done with my massage which I appreciated. The masseuse greeted me with a forced smile which is not the best way to introduce yourself. However, she did a good job on my shoulders as I requested. After the massage, I showered and prepared my makeup in very small space. Checkout was fast and accurate. I've been to several Rosewood spas and this one is good but not great as I expected. For the reasons stated above, I rate this 4 stars instead of 5.
