First the positives. The hostel is located in the historical heart of the city, just around the corner from the Mezquite. The building has a ton of classic charm and a small but comfortable rooftop. Rooms are very reasonably priced. Staff were responsive to requests for basic items and let us leave our bags at the desk after check out. The place has the potential to be great if the management makes a little more effort...||||There is no kitchen to prepare one's own meals. They have their own bar that they want you to eat at, but it was closed. And having no kitchen cancels out the value of the cheap rooms for budget travelers because it forces guests to eat out for every meal. ||||We seemed to have the hostel mostly to ourselves but we were still placed in a room that was extremely dark with a bathroom that was so tiny it was hard to even sit on the toilet (which didn't work very well). Our window let in almost no light and pond up onto a courtyard that was a popular spot for tour groups, so we had tour guides screening outside of our window from about 8:30am. In short, a pretty lousy room. ||||Staff were polite enough, but it sorta seemed like they didn't really give much concern to their guests during the slow season. If you have an empty house, don't put your few guests in a bad room. Consider that it costs you nothing to put them in a good room and that you will get the benefit of a good review. Hopefully this advice is taken to heart and more regard is shown for guests in the future.

It was a nice experience staying at this hostel, that is located in the very centre of the old part of the city. The price/quality ratio is very good, even though its a budget hostel so you cannot expect the best of the best. The room and bathroom were clean and it wasn't that noisy even though we had a room on the street side (but that also could be because we were there in February and not in the middle of summer). It was a bit chilly but we had a heater in the room so that made our stay more comfortable. All in all it was a nice experience and if you keep in mind that it's a budget hostel it's worth the stay.

I can only discuss the food, I did not stay in the hotel. I bought the 5 tapas ( sampler plate) and I have to say that it has being the worst food I have ever had in Spain, probably in my whole life in the whole world. The sausage smelled and taste bad! I also ordered the lasagna, which I am not sure how it was warmed up, I keep hearing a ring ( like in the toy ovens) every so often, but when they brought the lasagna, it was hot in the outside and cold in the middle. The owner should really go to any bar in Andalucia, eat there, and then come back and order his own food. This way he can see what I am talking about. It is just crazy! This place needs to be checked by a health inspector!!! Just to summarize it, it is Sh.t...

Quaint building with old interesting furniture pieces etc. Good quiet location.Clean room, beds were very low and bucket for water overflow in bathroom which we kept emptying or it would have gone all over the floor.||One of the female staff was very ignorant and despite our patience made us wait for a very lengthy time to be served for breakfast and even longer to take our payment for it.||Tried to get breakfast there the following morning, the same girl saw us waiting and continued to ignore us so we sat in the patio and waited again,no other guests to be served or even in the area so,it was only us?. Eventually we gave up and ate elsewhere for the rest of our stay.||A great shame as this hostel needs the custom and they must lose money due to the apathetic attitude. I will say that the other staff members were friendly and helpful..

We totally fell in love with this place. Cosy, romantic, cute hostel, nice people (and quiet at night!!) We stayed in the Twin Ensuite (2 person bedroom and private bathroom), which had everything you need: sheets, towels, soap (and a great shower!). |Once you step out of the hostel, you're in the middle of small streets with little restaurants, bars and shops (Don't try to get to the hostel by car, believe us;)). The Mezquita and Alcázar are only a few minutes away. The main shopping street is 10 min away.||We would definitely recommend this place, we had a lovely stay! ||Only a small remark, after our reservation we received an email stating that we could find free parking on the Passeo de Victoria, this is not the case anymore since two months ago (maybe update your email?).

We loved our 2 night stay at Séneca Hostel. The room was basic, but the setting is wonderful. The patios downstairs and on the roof are great, and it is good to be able to get a drink or a reasonably priced breakfast. The location is very handy for seeing this fantastic city.

Our experience consisted of very friendly priced beer and a plate of the patatas bravas. But those patatas, let me tell you, those tasty patatas really do stand out with their garlicky goodness, from frequent " slap some frozen fries on the plate with some sauce / they will eat it, we look like a decent place" patatas I have tried in many fancier looking places around Andalusia. That is all. ||||Oh and very friendly staff. Best wishes to this little smile factory.

We did not stay here, but we accidently step in this place and felt in love with its lovely inner garden. After that we did not miss a day to bait and have a bear or sangria. Its top advantages – very good shade, central location, cold drinks, good service and charming decoration.
