43 Best Hotels in Rome of 2024

"This independent hotel sits in a restored palazzo in the heart of Rome’s Monti neighborhood, next to the Basilica of Santa Prudenziana, Rome’s oldest Christian church. The two share a courtyard, bringing a tranquil, almost meditative feel to your stay. The crowd spans everyone from 30-something couples on a weekend away to local residents who have stopped by for an aperitivo in the garden. The rooftop courtyard is the real draw here, a peaceful spot encircled by olive trees and old Roman palazzi. Choose from pastas and pizzas or book onto one of the hotel’s cooking courses, where the chef gives you a one-on-one lesson on how to prepare Roman artichokes, fresh pasta and tiramisu." - Maresa Manara

Sentho Roma

"Why book? An under-the-radar independent design hotel in urban Monti Set the scene This independent hotel sits in a restored palazzo in the heart of Rome’s Monti neighborhood, next to the Basilica of Santa Prudenziana, Rome’s oldest Christian church. The two share a courtyard, bringing a tranquil, almost meditative feel to your stay. The crowd spans everyone from 30-something couples on a weekend away to local residents who have stopped by for an aperitivo in the garden. The backstory Run by independent Roman hoteliers, Sentho is quiet and low-key – there are no doormen here, or valets, or fancy carpets. Instead, the focus here is on high quality design and fabrics. There are plenty of terracotta and blue hues, with ornate church-style windows that open outwards onto the courtyard, with views of Monti’s rust-colored buildings outside. They haven’t spared any expenses: speakers are Sonos, there’s a smart TV in every room and a welcome drink awaits guests upon arrival The rooms Rooms are spacious and comfortable, and immaculately designed, with original frescos on the ceilings and marble-topped desks. Bathrooms aren’t anything to call home about, but they do the job. Food and drink The rooftop courtyard is the real draw here, a peaceful spot encircled by olive trees and old Roman palazzi. Choose from pastas and pizzas or book onto one of the hotel’s cooking courses, where the chef gives you a one-on-one lesson on how to prepare Roman artichokes, fresh pasta and tiramisu.  The neighborhood/area Once run-down and faded, Monti is one of Rome’s most central and popular neighborhoods. Given its proximity to Rome’s central station, you’ll see a mix of tourists and locals. Restaurants and bars cater to both, which means you can eat authentic, good Roman food without feeling like you’ve been fleeced. The service The staff here are utterly lovely. No task is too big – they’ll organise your laundry and deliver it to you room, along with a fresh coffee, just because. Everyone here is from the area, so they can put together itineraries encompassing both the main tourist spots and lesser-known places around Rome. For families The biggest rooms are just 50sqm, so those travelling with a baby or young child can make it work; any more and we’d look somewhere else." - Maresa Manara

First stop on our 4 city tour of Italy, and our favorite hotel room of the trip. The room had everything we could think of, very clean and modern. The Front desk staff was so warm and helpful. Wish we could have enjoyed an apertivo on the rooftop, or breakfast in their cute courtyard, but our time there was limited. Immediate surrounding area is very sleepy and quiet, but easily within walking distance of the subway and train station. We also had a very easy and enjoyable walk down to the Colosseum. If we had to find something wrong… its a common one in Europe. The elevator lift was so tiny it barely fit two people. So luggage was a couple trips, and always took the stairs. But thats just nitpicking an awesome hotel!!!!

My family enjoyed a truly wonderful stay at this hotel on a quiet street in the fabulous Monti neighborhood of Rome. Perfect in every way! Beautiful, comfortable and immaculately clean rooms. Close to all the sites, restaurants and attractions as well as enjoying the local charms of Monti. The highest praise for the exceptional staff. Everyone was so warm, friendly and helpful in every way possible. Looking forward to coming back and wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else but here. Bob Schilling

Staying at the Sentho Hotel in Rome was an absolute dream. The location couldn't be more perfect—just steps away from iconic landmarks yet still quiet enough for peaceful rest. It's the ideal base for exploring everything Rome has to offer.||The hotel’s design is simply stunning, but what truly made the stay unforgettable, though, was the staff. Every single person we encountered was incredibly kind, warm, and genuinely attentive. Their hospitality felt effortless and heartfelt, making us feel not just welcome, but truly cared for.

Everything was just superb. Nice big clean room with big window and birds singing in the morning. Nice garden and beautiful terrace bar on top floor. Safe and quiet location just two minutes walk to St Mary Basilica, 10 minutes walk to Termini. Lots of good restaurants around. Young ladies at reception are professional, efficient with a big smile to make everyday a nice day. Free bottled water provided. Overall ambiance is relaxing with style. I love my stay at Sentho. Definitely will book again when I visit Rome again.

We stayed at the Sentho for our last night in Italy after returning to Rome for our early morning flight the following day. Wish we could have stayed here longer. Such a cute and well appointed boutique hotel in a great neighborhood. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean, roomy and nicely decorated. We also enjoyed a cocktail on the rooftop bar with a beautiful view.

My wife and I have just returned from the most wonderful boutique hotel in the amazing city of Rome - the hotel is perfectly located in the bohemian neighbourhood of Monti with a genuine village atmosphere and only 10 minutes walk from the Roma Termini.|The hotel was beautifully designed only 2 years ago and lends itself to a very calm and relaxing atmosphere. The Sentho Roma team are all so friendly and professional - large buffet breakfast if you wish - we had an excellent dinner in their restaurant with good choice of wine - and an inviting cocktail menu which are superbly presented ! The hotel rooms are so clean and grounds well maintained with an inviting rooftop terrace.|Rome is such a wonderful city to explore on foot you can reach Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Piazza Navona in 30 minutes while the Colosseum is less than 20 minutes.|Sentho Roma, thank you for your hospitality……….if you’re looking to stay in Rome, then go ahead and book Sentho Roma.

Sentho Roma was the perfect home base for our visit to the Eternal City. The hotel is located on a quiet street within an easy walk of the Termini Station, Colosseum, Forum, Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore, and many more attractions. Our room was located on the back side of the hotel over the courtyard and it was absolutely SILENT at night, even with the large windows open. The building itself and the rooms are beautiful and well-maintained. We stayed in a Junior Suite room (2 adults and 2 teens) and had plenty of room - very nice size for Europe. Housekeeping was excellent. Beds were very comfortable. The front desk staff were always available and very helpful and pleasant. Walking down the hill along Via Urbana you will find many little cafes and shops. There is a Pam Local (mini grocery store) across the street. Trieste Pizza a couple of blocks down was our hands-down fave in Italy. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at Sentho again on a return trip to Roma. It's an oasis within a hectic (but beautiful) city!

The most disappointing stay during our Italy trip. The hardware is Ok but the software NEEDS a lot of improvements in many ways. 1. Someone tried to enter our room three times in 2 nights without any notice, even without a single knock, he or she just unlocked the door though we put a ‘Do not Disturb’ sign all the time. That doesn’t make sense at all. What if there is no one when he or she sneak in and out our room or what if there is my wife alone in our room then someone intrudes our room with a master key on purpose? We felf our room is totally unsafe. That’s hilarious. Swear to God, it happened to us for real. Please remind that Sentho is not a small hostel or something. 2. The fridge in our room was not working. So we asked to change our fridge but the receptionist said the rooms were fully booked so she couldn’t solve the problem. After some minutes, she changed her words. Then she said that there is an empty room so we can change our room! Why she lied to us at first mentioning that there is no other room available? I don’t get it at all. Regarding their price, our stay was a complete disaster. I hope they will upgrade their service level soon, not providing a traumatic experience to other cumstomers again. Best regards,
