"A six-star property within a property, Sequoia is scheduled to open this autumn at the luxuriant Mount Lofty House, a designer boutique hotel that recently completed a year-long, $6-million refurbishment. Each of the 14 eco-villas at Sequoia — named for the three California Redwoods planted when the historic Adelaide Hills estate was originally constructed in 1852 — are the height of indulgent luxury, perched on the rim of the Piccadilly Valley with sweeping views throughout the suite, even from the comfort of the bubble-filled stand-alone bathtub. Sequoia in the Adelaide Hills is the perfect luxury getaway, offering a private, romantic, and peaceful setting. The suites are incredibly comfortable, blending luxury with modern features. The activities are thoughtfully curated, and the staff’s attentive, warm, and personable service makes you feel at home. The artisan-fed hot springs are a highlight—relaxing and discreet. Their food and beverage options are top-tier, with a beautifully curated selection. A standout was the magnificent picnic lunch we enjoyed, arranged on request. Sequoia is an ideal destination for a special occasion or a memorable escape.

From the moment the gates open and you enter this serene sanctuary you can do nothing more than take a deep breath, before trying to take it all in at once, and saying out loud, "How Good Is This?!"||The greeting you receive on arrival is second to none, your bags are collected and magically find their way to your room. You are escorted to reception for welcome drinks where the views are equally as good as the rooms and you immediately relax.||Before arriving a guest relation person has already helped you with an itinerary - from star gazing, nature walks, wine and cheese tasting, to a relaxing picnics in the grounds. I'd highly recommend adding a service from the Gatekeepers Day Spa and the Degustation dinner at Hardy's Restaurant. Also don't forget to try the Gnocchi in the Sequoia Lodge restaurant - once you try it you'll be trying to recreate it at home. If I felt I could lick the plate in such a high class place I would have! It was that good. lol||The wonderful thing about Sequoia is that they support local business and produce so all the food and products are locally made or produced - even the artwork throughout the property.||I hope to be able to visit again and partake in the lovely Section 28 gnocchi dish - almost the highlight of my trip short of Charlie the koala who really put on a lovely display for us. It was great to unwind and relax in such beautiful surroundings and with such attentive and kind staff.

During our first visit to Adelaide, we chose to stay at Sequoia Lodge. Overall, our experience was pleasant, with the rooms standing out as very nice, clean, and luxurious. However, there are areas where the service needs improvement to meet the standards of a five-star accommodation. Upon arrival, we were not greeted at check-in, and we had to carry our own luggage to the room. While the staff were well-mannered and polite, they appeared to be quite young and in need of further training in hospitality. The breakfast service also left much to be desired. Despite being the only couple dining, we waited nearly an hour for our meals. This aspect of the service requires significant attention to enhance the overall guest experience. The local producer wine tasting was an interesting concept, but unfortunately, the wines did not meet expectations and tasted like vinegar. This detracted from the otherwise high-class ambiance of Sequoia. On a positive note, the atmosphere at Sequoia is fantastic, especially during the cooler months. We certainly plan to return, but it is imperative that the service undergoes considerable improvement to ensure a truly five-star experience. **Overall Rating 3.5/5**

We had an incredible stay at Sequoia. From the moment we walked in nothing was too much trouble for anybody at anytime. The place is amazing, the rooms and the view are perfect. We did the inclusive stay and the food matched the property - it was exquisite. We have already looked at dates to come back and stay again. Highly recommend.

This has unquestionably been the best experience I've ever had with a luxury 'all inclusive' hotel. From the moment you arrive the friendly staff treat you like royalty, with nothing too much effort and everything included in the daily rate, no questions asked. It was heaven! The rooms are generous in size and has all the luxuries and trimmings one expect. The property and location were just stunning. But for me it was the staff that made the trip special... We'll be back soon!

I thought it was a good idea to partake in some luxurious surroundings for my 75th birthday. From our arrival through to our departure, the staff were friendly, caring, clearly wishing to make our stay the best that it could be. I'm not usually one for all those skin care products but the Jurlique items in the shower made my skin feel transformed to what it might have been, well, a long time ago. The extra little items that helped me celebrate this birthday are and were most appreciated. The views from our room - I attach a photo of our start to the last day of our stay - were stunning, and so the views from the lounge. We enjoyed the artesian spa pools, the breakfast, the view of the moon through the telescope in the lounge (which was set up for me because I wished to view it), the guest welcome and historical talk about Mt Lofty House, the cheese master class, the nature walk (thank you, Ocean - not sure that I can get the pronunciation correct in this review, but you know who you are, and thank you for returning to rescue that baby bird which fell from its nest), and the fact that the staff set up an itinerary for us prior to our arrival are just some of what made this visit so special. I am greatly impressed with Adelaide, with the Adelaide Hills and with South Australia more broadly. I think this part of Australia has been under-rated and is a hidden gem. Thank you for making my/our time so enjoyable.

Sequoia Lodge truly surpassed all our expectations. Every detail of this place has been thoughtfully designed and curated, embodying understated luxury and offering a home-away-from-home experience nestled in the breathtaking Adelaide Hills.||The suites are incredibly inviting, spacious, and outfitted with the latest technology—from retractable bed heads and TVs to heated floors and fresh herbal teas and not to forget the cosy open fire.||Starting the day watching the sun emerge through the fog on a winters morning enjoying panoramic views over Piccadilly Valley, whilst sipping a hot tea in the artesian spring hot pool, was nothing short of perfect.||All the staff were exceptionally welcoming, friendly, and intuitive—nothing was too much trouble. Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, located just across the path at Mt Lofty, provided a gastronomic experience full of taste sensations that is not too be missed on any visit here.||All the fabulous signature experiences- the electric bikes, the nature walk, the meet the grower and the list goes on make this place so special and a real experience rather than just a place to stay!||Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or a longer retreat, do not look past Sequoia Lodge, an absolute must-visit for any occasion!

Wonderful stay at Sequoia recently! It's a beautiful lodge in a superb location - a real luxury for a special occasion. Thank you to Elisa and the rest of the team for making our stay so enjoyable. We loved the room, facilities, views, acces to Mount Lofty House, delicious breakfasts, lovely night-time turn down service, cheese and wining tasting and nature walk! The e-bikes were great fun to explore the area with. The only constructive criticism I would give is: 1) Please make it more explicit to guests regarding any booking rules/cancellation fees when staff book experiences such as Hardy's restaurant on behalf of guests and 2) Facilitating some recommendations for activities and sightseeing around the area (some staff were unaware). Overall, a very special experience. Would love to return one day! The autumn leaves season is the most beautiful! Thank you also for the Mount Lofty book, this was a lovely souvenir.
