The service was very good. I recommend the Chocolate Tempation dessert. Galletto was ok, but had too many bones and it was hard to get to the meat. The petto di pollo was extremely thin. Overall, the food was good, but I found the servings smaller than in other restaurants in NY. The restaurant added 18% gratuity by default.

Isabella Grandic

Google
Very decent Italian restaurant. Cute atmosphere. They have a lot of daily specials that are probably better on a piece of paper rather than being recited by the waiter. Food is served fast. Almost scarily fast. I didn’t even have time to eat the bread! Vodka pasta was not a hit for me. It didn’t have much flavour? I had the chocolate temptation desert. It was good. I don’t know if I’d come back for it though ~25-45 $ per person

Google
6/2025 good food, good atmosphere;lively and a little loud but not too loud. Food is good, wine reasonably priced. Salad; delicious. ----- 9/2024 great little neighborhood, Italian eatery. No pizzas here. Food was good, pricing was a little expensive as expected but not over the top, very nice outdoor dining area available in a small intimate atmosphere.

Jady Tsao

Google
Tables always available. We went on a Saturday night and there were a lot of tables free. The pastas are okay. We got to try the burrata as well.

Michael Pomarico

Google
One of our go to mid-town eats. We’ve Ben coming here for years. Consistently good. Easy to access. The outdoor dining has really helped as it’s a small venue. If you’re in mid-town and looking for a place to get good Italian food the Osteria will not disappoint. Update!!!! Back again. Everything was excellent. Never disappointing.

Orlando Arango

Google
Nice place but small, I liked that though. Good food but not great. I had the Carpaccio Malatesta and the Pennette alla Vodka. Fast and attentive service.

Alyssa Ricciotti

Google
Absolutely love this restaurant. Literally just picked it off of google and went. It is super cute and cozy. We had great service. The food was absolutely phenomenal. We got grilled calamari to start bomb. I got the penna vodka I think it was the best pasta I ever had. My sister got the carbonara which was good very creamy and cheesy. My dad got a very simple pasta - homemade pasta and it was delicious. I got the chocolate temptation cake and it was probably the best cake I have ever had. I will be dreaming about this meal for a looooong time.

Google
We did a last minute big team lunch here and the restaurant was gracious enough to accommodate us. The overwhelming consensus among the group, however, was that the dishes left a lot to be desired especially in an area filled with incredible Italian restaurants at a similar price point.

Diana G.

Yelp
This place was amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was amazing! From appetizers, to the main course, to the dessert, this restaurant was splendid !

Yelp
The -Vodka pasta was not cooked enough. It wss still pretty hard. The bruschetta was disappointing. For its price and quality. The watermelon salad was basically bunch of arugula with balsamic and bit of watermelon slices. The pizza was odd, the tomato paste had interesting flavor which was not so great. Service was not good. I recommend any other Serafina places. Overall just disappointed Service Dine in Meal type Brunch Price per person $30-50

Yelp
Small Italian restaurant on East 58th. Not many entree options but all good ones. Enjoyed the grilled calamari appetizer. Fettuccine with lobster was good choice. Service attentive.

M B.

Yelp
Dear God! You'd think you died and went to heaven. Excellent greasy and crispy calamari and OUTSTANDING Lobster Ravioli. Strawberry Basil Martini :Delicious, well mixed and presented. Will definitely be back. *The Serafina in the Theatre District.

Yelp
This was probably more of a three and a half star dinner, but given the choice of going up or down from there, I've opted for the former because while it wasn't the perfect meal, what was perfect worked really well. The service was impeccable. It was attentive, friendly and everything service should be. The arugula salad with carpaccio (we substituted spinach for the arugula) was divine. And when an issue arose with our food, the manager was quick to address it and handle it quick and easily, proving that this is a restaurant that cares about its patrons. The hubby loved his tiramisu. What didn't work is kind of irrelevant and not worth going into.

Yelp
Great Italian place very authentic and traditional great pizzas great pasta, very well. Run and great professional service atmosphere was fun inviting and even family friendly. Terrific spot can't go wrong.

Isabella J.

Yelp
Will never get over the pennette stolichnaya. So so delicious and perfect. And an appropriate amount of Parmesan

Leslie C.

Yelp
It is tiny and cosy place with an amazing service and delicious food. On top of that, their prices are super friendy.

Amy L.

Yelp
The service and food here was terrible. One of the servers added his own 20% tip on the bill when it was only a table of 3 people. I don't remember his name (wish I did) but he gave an attitude when I asked him why we had to tip 20% for a party of 3 when the food was bad as well and he flipped out on us. The server said it was because he gave us a table when we didn't have a reservation when there was OPEN TABLE AVAILABLE but that shouldn't mean we must tip 20% when he was being rude and wanting to argue with us. He was not being appreciative even though we STILL tipped a good amount for terrible food and service from him. Do not recommend coming back here.

Suzanne M.

Yelp
Our most delicious dinner in NY. This food snob gives this place 5 stars for service and food quality

C H.

Yelp
Food was tasty but waiter was rude, condescending, and did not provide good service. Will not return.

Angie L.

Yelp
Serafina on University was BOMB tonight! We craved good cooking with great wine and pizza and pasta. We hit a home run. Ambience is amazing. Food was exquisite and even the music was on point. Brittany sat us right away when we didn't have a reservation and got everything we needed within two minutes of sitting. So cozy. So nice. If I lived in this neighborhood, I would be here every Fri night.

Monica D.

Yelp
Made a reservation and showed up 10 minutes early only for the host to tell us they didn't have a table for us. Waited 20 additional minutes and nobody came to check on us at all. Didn't honor the reservation or care we were waiting just standing. Horrible customer service. Have been to Serafina before and enjoyed it but after this never again. Will not be back and won't recommend to anyone.

Yelp
Extremely rude server. DO NOT RECOMMEND. I came here for lunch with my friend after a knee surgery. I asked the waiter to give me an extra chair to elevate my leg since I can't not bend my knee. The waitress refused giving me an extra chair claiming the restaurant will be full (it was completely empty) so i asked her to maybe give me one of the outside chair since I can not bend my knee. She said "This is a restaurant, you can't do that". So I had to leave and went to Tao next door. So much friendlier and all the servers were assisting me sitting down. There are plenty nicer & friendlier restaurants in the city. I refuse to be treated as a second class citizen especially when I'm handicapped right now. What a joke.

Hatem S.

Yelp
Amazing food Great staff Best pasta and salad in town Strongly recommended from Italian food lover

Pat M.

Yelp
Tatiana, our server needs to look for a different job. Service was totally lacking. Food was just alright. Never asked if we wanted bread, salad, appetizers or more water. Took over 20 minutes to get the check. She just kept disappearing and it wasn't 1/4 full. Will never come back. Even the manager had an attitude.

Yelp
Had no clue where my husband and I were having Valentine's Day dinner. Picked him up and directions after that were, "turn left", "make a right here", "go two more blocks"... etcera. My eyes went so far back, had to get it together. Hoped for the best- considering, we had such an unpleasant pizza and service experience over at their LES location a while back. Serafina Osteria has a casual and cozy feel written all over it- really no bells and whistles- but it's laid back with soft lighting. I kinda like that it's small- just adds that extra, relaxed feel to it. Menu is concise with a decent wine selection. Lobster and Avocado Salad was o...k with enormous lobster chunks. The Avocado in it, was the only ingredient giving the Salad a nice taste. But too-large tomato pieces coupled with tasteless Lobster, wasn't a full-tilt for me. Contrary to one past review, our Bread was good and crusty- not stale. And the olive oil- complimented the bread just right! Entrées after that, were tasty. My husband's Tagliolini with Smoked Salmon was a bit unusual for my taste- nonetheless, Tagliolini was al dente and tasted good. My Pappardelle with Porcini was simple- yet very good. Bypassed the Chocolate Desserts and shared a Lemony-infused Cheesecake- that was good. Service I must say- was nice and waters were filled at a moment's notice. Mood was nice even with 'classic' Celine Dion playing in the background. To my surprise, our Valentine's Dinner was actually pleasant and made for a good date night. As a matter of fact 'Serafina Osteria' was a few notches higher than that other location. I liked the warmness of it and food was good- I'd come back.

Yelp
I was drawn to Serafina as something about the name called out to me, then while dining I googled how it may be connected to angels: "Seraphina is carrying one of these messages deeply in her own heart: "Love will always find you." One day Seraphina feels that the desire of a soul partner has also awakened inside herself. She realises that her soul is calling and she instinctively knows to follow it." So, there you go. It's a sweet little spot just south of Central Park and was filled with a nice mix - kind tourists, first dates, locals. A warm setting. Plenty of specials, which I enjoyed, an ample wine list - the Sancerre fit the bill - killer tiramisu, and listening to a first date of 50 something's starting anew to give most everyone hope there's love to be found for all out there.

Jimmy J.

Yelp
staff was a little rude at first but that changed quickly, luckily. food - 5/5 amazing. we got the bruschetta - there's something in it that just makes it better than others i have, but i could not tell you what. tartare di sofia - a must try. fresh, delicious. boyfriend got eggplant parmesan which was good, but amazing with fresh parmesan added. i got the filet of bass al pinot grigio. the sauce...that alone could've satisfied me. the leeks were insanely good, as was the fish. everything went well together. still thinking about that sauce. pricey but we expected that for a nicer anniversary dinner. would rec

Yelp
I ordered a linguine half lobster($39.95). It looked great but the linguine cooked way too soft. Plus, I found a piece of foil in my linguine. It was not worth it.

Amy H.

Yelp
Relaxed atmosphere small but outside dining option. Started with spinach warm goat cheese and sun dried tomato salad with vinegar dressing. Pastas were average in taste. Nothing spectacular Service was great.
google avatar

Aaron K.

Yelp
There is nothing spectacular about this small restaurant but the ambiance is pleasant, the service attentive, the prices moderate (by mid-town standards), and the food all well prepared. Nothing innovative but all the standard Italian dishes. Noise level allows conversations without shouting. They do not have a full bar but do serve wine & beer. If in the neighborhood we will return.
google avatar

Allie C.

Yelp
3.5 stars but I decided to round down. The food wasn't that great, the female host at the front was very rude and the service was extremely slow. I wouldn't recommend anything other than pasta and dessert. The recommendable food we ordered had been the farfalle al limonchella, spicy penne vodka and taglioni al pollo. The tiramisu was also delicious. Unfortunately the calamari had absolutely no flavor. A side of asparagus and fries is an extra $20 and both were meh.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Had a terrific meal there today. House made pasta and huge portions. Pleasant, accommodating staff. You must have the tiramisu . . . incredible.

Conor W.

Yelp
If there is more bread than meat in the "meatball," shouldn't one call it a breadball? Apart from the resulting bread-like texture, there is absolutely No flavor. The sautéed spinach is equally tasteless with not a hint of garlic. This is cooking possibly done by drones without any familiarity with Italian food other than its adoption of familiar names. Stick with the pizza, possibly the only near genuine item on the menu.

Yelp
This is a very intimate, romantic spot and it would be perfect for date night. The pasta was delicious and served fresh and piping hot. The Pennette Stolichnaya was my favorite and had hearty pieces of bacon in it, with a creamy tomato sauce. The Cacio and Pepe was tasty as well, with a strong black pepper flavor (so be careful if you're not a fan of pepper!) The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars is the wine was on the pricier side for small servings and not that great flavor. It was about $15 a glass and they filled it less than other places usually do. However, the food was still great! It's a smaller place, so I would be wary of coming with a party of more than 4 people.

Yelp
Point 1 : it's forever for us to be seated , we had to stand outside (granted it's COVID but it was indoor dining) the server was acting as the host when the host was sitting inside until a couple behind us said they were going in. We realized the server wasn't welcoming at all , nonetheless doing his job. Point 2: we finally sat and it was all the way in the back outside. Unseen and forgotten is two key words ! Point 3 : the food took a while to come and when it did it had hair in it and it was poorly executed. Not what I expected from this restaurant at all. For 4 $40 bucks I got a special which was half the Chilean Sea bass , three asparagus, and not even a cup of potatoes. My fiancé got the pasta which had hair in it and the chicken Parm was cold and the cheese wasn't even melted on the chicken . Point 4: we asked for the check and it took a while to come , I had to go get the guy. Funny thing is they charged a COVID surcharge for no one for check on us lmao this place is a greedy joke !

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing and hot. Customer service was great. Will definitely be going back here. Authentic Italian Restaurant, it puts Olive Garden to shame for me!

F T.

Yelp
The beef with broccoli rabe was the highlight of our meal. The fettuccine Bolognese was good too but the fettuccine may have been a bit overcooked. However, while the servers didn't treat us poorly they do give less attentive treatment if they perceive you to be of a lower class or tourist. I noticed other tables got olive oil with their bread while we got packaged butter. Additionally when we ordered wine, they poured it in the back and then placed it on our table. Other guests were offered a taste of the wine before pouring in front of the guest. My partner and I had spent a day in Central Park and maybe the servers mistook us as tourists or "lower class" because we were in t-shirts and sneakers. We were a bit taken back that they gave us different treatment than others.
google avatar

Susan H.

Yelp
We walked in here absolutely starving after a day at the museums. We were seated very quickly, even without a reservation and our waiter was very attentive. Food was wonderful as was the Sangria. We sat on the 3rd floor which was absolutely magical (although the steps are a bit scary!). I will definitely come again!
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
Great service We were tired from The Met and walked in on a whim. Dishes were good, not extremely memorable but satisfying and would do it again if I was in the same position. The artichoke salad special with lemon zest was a favorite.

Tosha B.

Yelp
Cute italian place.... i had the Burrata as an app and then the ravioli (which were both specials for the night) the staff were pleasant and the atmosphere were cool. Nothing overly exciting but it is satisfying. No complaints. Friendly, quick, good food. I would return if in the area again but im not running there...... its like a neighborhood comfort spot where u know it will be satisfying

David K.

Yelp
Excellent service with a kind and caring attitude. Outstanding selection of cuisine that spoke luxury to the palate. Highly recommend this location for authentic Italia.
google avatar

Lola N.

Yelp
I love anything lemon. This place had the most amazing lemon pasta that infOoliShky adds rd chicken to; it needed nothing else and was divine. The waiter a made excellent suggestions and the espresso was perfect.
google avatar

Dan R.

Yelp
Stopped here for a drink and appetizers before heading to the theater. I ordered a Vodka Tonic and another member of my party ordered a gin and tonic. Both drinks had nothing close to tonic in them. We expressed to our server that the drinks were not made correctly. Her response was "there is nothing I can do about it". Her explanation was that the tonic comes out of a gun and there was really nothing she could help me with. WTF? Really not the customer service I would expect from an establishment that is charging $$ fir drinks. Do yourself a favor and enjoy a drink somewhere else. A saving grace, they didn't charge us for the bad drinks. Though they still need some customer service training.
google avatar

Lizette H.

Yelp
Extremely elegant and inviting, their staff was pleasantly attentive and their music was soothing. Appetiser were fresh and entree was delicious. It was well enough to keep our tummies satisfied. Their dessert was really tasty and I have had their wine menu before. A very classy place for good friendly business chats for sure.
google avatar

Diana O.

Yelp
Pleasant atmosphere, the service is very good, reasonable price on all the dishes and generous portions, the quality of the pasta, the tomato sauce and the cheeses could be better. Agradable atmósfera, el servicio es muy bueno, precio razonable en todos los platillos y porciones generosas, la calidad de la pasta, la salsa de tomate y de los quesos podría ser mejor.

Yelp
I highly, HIGHLY, recommend Serafina! I can't say enough positive things about this restaurant. Food was excellent, and some of the best Italian food I had recently. I had the Fettuccine All' Aragosta and it was just delicious. The lobster and the fettuccine went perfectly together. My wife had a pasta dish with shrimp and it was even better than mine (yes, I was jealous). For dessert, we had the Crêpes Alla Nutella With Grand Marnier and it was amazing!!! Very different variation of a crepe, but I couldn't get enough of it. I want to go back just for that. I really liked Serafina, and I'm glad we decided to try it. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
I love this Serafina, which is also connected to the Dream Midtown and offers breakfast (a plus). They also offer their menu as room service for the Dream Midtown as well. A classic Italian restaurant you can't go wrong. Definitely recommend making a reservation because you never know how crowded this restaurant will be. You can call ahead or try Open Table. Drinks: a short list of beer but healthy option of wines and cocktails. Appetizers: all great and you can't go wrong. The caprese salad was delicious and fresh. The tuna tartar was good served with toasted bread. The calamari was just okay, your typical fried calamari nothing special, just rings no tentacles. It was a little on the crispy side. Dinner: everyone ordered pasta and everyone cleared their plates. Half the table ordered the bolognese and I ordered the gnocchi. I would recommend either. They also offer fresh parm. Desserts: the tiramisu was okay, not the best I have had but good. The adffogato looked delicious, and the soufflé was gone in seconds. I came out feeling liked a stuffed turkey, I ate too much.
google avatar

Paige Sophia D.

Yelp
Serafina has amazing pasta! Everything is homemade and fresh. I usually get the pennette stolichnaya (penne alla vodka with bacon) and it's incredible-honestly the best I've ever had. Today I decided to get the special of lobster ravioli- it was so delicious and a super generous portion.
google avatar

Jenn S.

Yelp
Great spot for a quick business lunch that caters to omnivores, vegetarians, pescatarians and carnivores alike. It's a small menu but I almost prefer that. Started with their prosciutto and melon, the melon was crisp and sweet and balanced nicely by the salty bite of prosciutto. Their housemade fettuccine and bolognese was hearty but not overly sit in your gut heavy. Ended the meal with their deliciously light Tiramisu. Service was very attentive and warm as well and though the space is small, I like that they didn't overcrowd the space with too many tables to make you feel like your sitting onto of your fellow diners.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Our first visit here was rewarding--all 4 of us liked our varied appetizers/salads and pasta entrees. The mesclun and spinach salads and seafood linguini were especially good. Prices were below the high midtown average and service was very good. Very convenient to City Center; 59E59 theater and Central Park.
google avatar

Yelp
Serafina Osteria is just sensational. Menu items are good and the staff is very friendly. After going over the reviews I have ordered Pappardelle and it was simply excellent. The team was extremely courteous and service is fabulous. Can not wait to visit Serafina Osteria again!
google avatar

Talah C.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. This is a quaint place to have a great Italian food experience. I absolutely love the fettuccine alla vodka, it's the best pasta I have ever had. It's rich creamy and extremely tasty. The servers are hardworking and always loyal to the customers. Definitely come here if you're looking for good food!
google avatar

Lucy M.

Yelp
Came here with a party of 6, at around 1030pm.. we were looking for a casual, quiet Italian restaurant and Serafina Osteria seemed like the perfect place from the view outside. The service was great - we had our waters constantly refilled, waiter answered all our questions, and dishes arrived at an appropriate time. The atmosphere was comfortable. I give it 3 stars simply because the dishes were not that good, or as good as we expected. The dish we could all agree on was the best was my order of Tagliolini Al Melone (never thought pasta and cantaloupe would go together, but it was perfection), however, aside from that, all the others orders were disappointing and tasteless. The starter bread and oil was below average as other reviewers have mentioned. I'd rather try other Italian restaurants in NYC before revisiting this one.
google avatar

Ally H.

Yelp
Good food but excruciatingly slow service. Had to repeatedly walk to the back of the restaurant to ask server for dessert menu, check etc. I think there was one server for the whole restaurant. While tasty it was too pricey for such poor service so won't be back.
google avatar

Renato N.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the dinner there with my wife. We ordered a pennette Stolichnaya and a Linguine Pescatora - both of them very rich. The staff is helpful and friendly. Service is fast. Price is fair.

Liza T.

Yelp
My husband and i like this place so much we came here two days in a row for lunch! Both times we shared the grilled calamari appetizer (the grilled flavor is heavenly) and shared an entree pasta. The first day we had bucatini with onions and tomatoes and the second day we had the lobster fettuccine and loved both of them. Profiteroles for dessert. Yum! Everything tastes fresh and authentic. We have been to a lot of Italian restaurants and this is one of our favorites. The food tastes great. It is simple. No frills needed to be great. I'm sure we will come back next time we are in NY. Yes it is small but that just adds to the charm of it.

Yelp
Ok so we had dinner here last night. I have eaten here before and did not recommend it to he rest of my party. Alas, no one listened to me, so we found ourselves here once again. Our waiter was very nice but he forgot to put in one of our party's pasta dish. The rest of us were done eating when her dish finally arrived. The Caesar salad with chicken tasted strangely of liquid charcoal. Weird. Needless to say, this was nowhere near a $25 salad. One of us had the spaghetti carbonara which wasn't great, but wasn't bad either, just not memorable. The highlight of our evening came when a giant cockroach crawled under the table and my sister screamed. I mean really, it was disgusting. Our waiter didn't seem to be bothered by it at all. He did take $45 off our bill, but really, after that, who wants to eat anymore? So maybe next time, my fellow diners will heed my warning! I never steer them wrong!
