I believe in magic. I believe in magic, and God, and the voice of the wind. The experience I had inside this Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream shop/parlor/place was one of unmistakable, truly remarkable joy everlasting. The people that work here: kind, stately, generous in recommendation, discerning of personal taste. Quick, witty, a friendly ease about them. Paired two flavors together (pictured) excellent recommendation. Slammed. Will be trying again soon. Thank you also for the pup cup, thank you for bringing it to my sweet, gluttonous little animal. He appreciates it, so do I. What a wonderful place with wonderful people, been here several times, will come again. Always been great 👍

I wanted a homemade brownie and a scoop of ice-cream and they made it into a Sundae 🍨 😍 omg it was delicious 😋 I asked for salt to sprinkle on top and this is my now go to sweet treat!

This place is great and the workers are sooooo nice. We took the kids there because of their name of the day promo and they had so much fun trying all the flavors and chatting with the staff. Great ice cream and great people. We don't usually go out of the way to leave reviews but my kids specifically said it was a "5 star ice cream place" so they definitely earned it!

Me and my 4 siblings stopped in after going to the st Louis zoo for some homemade ice cream and were not disappointed, it was a bit pricey but the ice cream was rich and tasty.

Google
The ice cream is incredibly delicious with a rich and smooth texture that isn’t overly sweet. I especially enjoyed the consistency—it has just the right amount of thickness. The staff were polite and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The place is clean and pleasant. I’d definitely come again.

Lots of great options! Settled on the Tiny Trio (Size reference in my pic). Perfect to sample a few flavors here. Key Lime, Blueberry and Salted Caramel - All were awesome!

My boyfriend and I are visiting St. Louis and were craving a sweet treat! I like super sweet creamy ice cream and he likes sorbets more. We found Serendipity online and saw it has a great selection of both. We were welcomed by the sweetest girl who was so helpful and patient while my boyfriend and i were clearly struggling to choose what to get. Customer service was a 11/10 and the quality of the ice cream was just as good! I went with a kids scoop of salted caramel swirl in a sugar cone while my boyfriend got a small dish of lemon sorbet. The salted caramel flavor was delicious!! The salt balances out the sweetness of the caramel so well! As for the lemon sorbet- my boyfriend said, and I quote, “It was tart and if you like lemon it’s just perfect.” We will definitely be returning to this shop if we happen to be in St. Louis again.

Google
Amazing service! Staff is well trained in handling food allergies and took great care to make sure ice cream was prepared nut free safely. From my experience, none of ice cream shops in St. Louis asked me about nut allergy before. We got the salt caramel and pumpkin cheesecake. Delicious!!! My kids were happy with their flavors as well. The shop was clean. They had vegan options (black sesame with pistachio and sweet potato). I actually came for the black sesame but vegan flavors here weren’t for me. Bummer!!! I’d come back in summer time to try other sorbet flavors that staff recommended.

Yelp
Serendipity was serendipitously across the street from where we had dinner, so we popped in! There were so many flavors to choose from! All the employees were so kind and so patient with us wanting to try all the flavors! The service here is excellent. The over cream was amazing and a good value! Two scoops are two large scoops! The gooey butter cake ice cream is to die for. The ice cream is thick and luxurious. I love that they have lactaids at the cash register so everyone can participate. This was a cute little ice cream shop & we enjoyed our visit here and would definitely come back!

Yelp
I have no idea how we have never tried this spot! We love local ice cream and were excited to see a place near where we had dinner, so we decided to try it out. The location is easy to get to, right on a corner in the Grove. It seemed super clean and they had water for their customers AND free lactaid which I thought was hilarious (and my brother appreciated). They have a TON of flavors, and the workers were fantastic - they didn't rush us at all and were super willing to let us try whatever we wanted. The customer service was top notch. I really love that they have regular takeaway ice cream BUT if you eat it in store, they put it in traditional dishes to enjoy! Their menu is huge - scoops, sundaes, milkshakes, even fresh ice cream sandwiches. Everything we tasted was fantastic. A great ice cream spot for the whole family!

Yelp
We were in the neighborhood today and ice cream sounded like the best and of the day dessert! We have not been back in a couple of years and missed this place so much! Kids got the yaunky doodle ice cream, husband got mint chip and I got Gold Coast chocolate. Everyone loved their ice cream and kept talking about it all the way home!
google avatar

Michaela J.

Yelp
Came here for a quick treat on a Thursday afternoon! In The Grove area so lots of street parking and a few lots further down. Cozy shop. Lots of seating spread out indoors as well as a little bar area area at the end of the ice cream counter. The customer service was good. The staff was fielding and gave good recommendations on the ice cream flavors. Always love when you can try flavors before deciding on one. I tried the caramel cookie swirl (May have gotten name wrong). It was really good and refreshing during these hot summer days lately. They also have freezers where you can purchase pints of ice cream which is a great plus! Another thing on the menu that looks good is their boozy ice cream floats. I hope to come back and try one next time!

Yelp
I have never been here before, so we had to try out the ice cream. I got the tropical dream shake . Which was a boozy option. The flavor was really good but the large pieces of coconut was a little annoying. I felt like I shouldn't be chewing a shake that much. My kiddos got shakes. One mint chip, and one chocolate they loved their's. My husband got one scoop of mint chip and enjoyed it. It's a cute, clean, and friendly spot to grab some ice cream.

Yelp
If you're looking for ice cream, this hand scooped ice cream will leave you feeling fulfilled! Just walk down the bar of ice creams & they'll get whatever your eyes are hungry for. Then when you get to the end, paying is super quick. They get you in & out fast. This spot would be great for a small party or a mid sized party but doesn't have much for a large group.

Yelp
If you're a fan of all things gooey butter like me, Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream in the Grove is a must-visit spot in St. Louis. Their gooey butter ice cream is a local favorite. Get it in the waffle cone! You're welcome! Not only is Serendipity a bustling ice cream spot; it has coffee and cocktails too. Founded by Beckie Jacobs, Serendipity has been serving our community since 2003. Stop in and give them some love.
google avatar

Tim W.

Yelp
So good every time! Always friendly and the flavors are always perfect. The inside is so cute too!

Yelp
4.2/5 for Serendipity. I was hoping to try a coffee with a scoop of ice cream but this location doesnt have that menu so I settled for the brown squirrel. It comes with Vanilla Ice Cream, Amaretto and Dark Crème de Cacao. I know my stomach will be bubbling later on, if ya know what I mean. Yolo¡ haha! They also have two vegan options as well. I gave it a 4.2 because I opted out of the whip cream and I figured they would just top off the cup with the shake but they didnt. Customer service was a 4.5/5
google avatar

Winnie Y.

Yelp
Good selection of flavors here. Service is friendly and you're able to taste test the flavors before you commit. I got the tiny trio which is around golf ball sized scoops. They have free lactase enzyme pills at the front so there really is no excuse for you not to enjoy their ice cream. Overall, I thought that the flavors weren't too interesting and the quality was standard. I wasn't a fan of the employees not wearing gloves while scooping ice cream, but Serendipity does get some major brownie points for being the first place I've been to that offers lactase.

Yelp
Updating my review since trying at their new location! Ice cream itself was delicious - very creamy, dense, filling. Melted fast which is a good sign that it's higher quality. Would like to see a vanilla bean in addition to vanilla, but it was good. My favorite that I tried was the birthday cake flavor. Cones were basic but good. Loved the various menu options and the "tiny scoop" option is awesome so you can try another flavor without getting a whole additional scoop. On the downside, the staff was pretty overwhelmed (to be fair it was busy) and gave my partner the wrong flavor. He asked for what the fudge and got black walnut which neither of us really liked (not because of the quality, we just don't like nuts). I know we should have let them know but it was so busy, we just said eh it's fine. I'm confident the service will get better as it's open longer as we saw the owner there being very patient and helpful with her staff. They're working on getting boozy shakes too - can't wait for that!

Yelp
I will start with the service because that was awesome. Very friendly and fast employees. We were greeted immediately and served quickly. They have a large selection of ice cream including many vegan choices. The portions were very small. They even weighed out the actual amount for the sundae we ordered. The picture shown is actually before we ate any! It's a very creamy type of ice cream. Some people may prefer that but we didn't. The prices were shocking but everything has gone up in prices lately. Parking is not the easiest to find but that's to be expected in that area. It wasn't a place for us but maybe we should have tried the boozy ice cream!
google avatar

Yelp
Fun ice cream spot. They had tons of fun flavors. Most of the ice cream was pretty good but nothing insane. Having said this, their cookies and cream stood out to me and is definitely one of the better cookies and cream scoops I've had so I would highly recommend at least tasting it if you go here. Staff were all very fun and enthusiastic which was really nice. The atmosphere was nice and vibrant, what you would expect of a lively ice cream spot.

Yelp
This is a good stop for something sweet on a sunny afternoon. I swung by here and it didn't disappoint. The icecream flavors were great and they had a new addition(Red Hot Riplets) which was interesting for the ppl that like spicy sweet icecream. The staff were polite and helpful and I opted for the shakes which was delicious and smooth. Keep up the great work!!
google avatar

Meghan W.

Yelp
I loved seeing the strawberry 'sauce' was actually diced, fresh strawberries! Everything appears to be homemade, and everything we had was delicious! I was also struck by how friendly the staff was. They let us try as many flavors as we'd like, they were patient while our son asked his usual 50 questions, and we just loved the sweet spot! We can't wait to come back and try more flavors. The Udder Shock! (Spicy chocolate!) is at the top of my list!
google avatar

Mel A.

Yelp
Who doesn't like ice cream? I mean, ice cream tries to kill me (lactose and all), and I still love it! To be fair, the place does to cater to some special dietary needs (vegan, gluten-free), but I feel like if it's something so good that it's worth having, then it's worth possibly not feeling great an hour later. Serendipity has some excellent ice cream flavor variety. The best thing is, their employees are kind enough to let you try some if you aren't sure about the flavors. I ended up being my boring self and getting a flavor I knew I would love = butter pecan, and sure enough, I wasn't disappointed. I got it in a cone and it was delicious. My visit was a great reminder of how much I love Serendipity. This was my first visit to this location. I was sad when they closed their Webster Groves location. Serendipity also has shakes and other frozen treats! If you haven't been, give the place a try and treat yourself!

Yelp
This is by far some of the best ice cream I think I've ever had. It's homemade in the shop and they have numerous flavors to choose from. I had the strawberry and the peach ice cream, which is only in season for a certain amount of time. I believe the owner Served us today and she was very friendly and accommodating us to try several flavors of ice cream. My wife had the raspberry chocolate chip and the butter pecan. They also provide three different size scoops adult size which is the size of a baseball kids size which is the size of a racquetball and mini size which is the size of a golf ball. My wife and I selected the kids size 2 scoops, which was perfect for our after lunch appetite. If you're in the area of Serendipity, I recommend you to stop and try them.

Yelp
Stopped here for dessert after eating dinner on the hill. The ambiance is clean and welcoming. Service was great, friendly, and helpful on picking flavors. The ice cream taste great and isn't too rich. You're probably wondering why I rated it 3 stars if I enjoyed everything so much. It's because the business charges you $2.50 per scoop extra for GF ice cream flavors. That's not a bad thing if that's what I'm going there for, but over half their flavors are GF, and most of them are the good flavors with the add ins. If you are going to offer that many GF flavors, just raises the prices and stop charging more for people just wanting ice cream. I don't know many people who walk into a homemade ice cream place looking for gluten free. Seems like a way to just charge extra

Yelp
Place is delicious! Atmosphere so cozy and good vibes! Ice cream yummy!! Service good!

Andrew S.

Yelp
This was the best ice cream ive ever had. So many flavors and such great service. My whole soccer team came in one night and we all were served immediately and the ice cream was so good. I wish I could come back and try them all. I would definitely recommend to try this place it will easily become your favorite.

Yelp
Thank you Kelsy and Serendipity in pulling this fun event. A friend and I checked in on a Saturday evening. It was not super busy. Serendipity has a good ice cream selections. We got to try a few samples. We finally decided on two different flavors (chocolate malt and pistachio) to go with the mini pancakes and chocolate sauce. This is truly the highlight of my evening! On my way out, I noticed some really attractive looking chocolate bon bon. I can't wait to come back to try those next time.
google avatar

Sandra K.

Yelp
Pretty good and always has new flavors. I get the kids cup because I'm not an ice cream person. I really like their mint chip and my husband loves all of their flavors.
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
Today we were in the neighborhood and decided today was the day. We were warmly greeted by the smell of fresh waffle cones. The space is warm and inviting with a welcoming team ready to serve all of your ice cream needs! The front counter boasted a host of flavors including vegan and gluten free options as well. We went with milkshakes cookies and cream and Cookie Monster. Both blended to creamy perfection. We tried the Poffertjes, which are the most adorable little pancakes tender and delicious. After much consideration the caramel apple pie ice cream was a perfect accompaniment. If you're in a rush, there are several prepackaged items to go in pint size containers. Definitely recommend a visit ice cream always makes for a good time!!
google avatar

Kevin Y.

Yelp
Solid ice cream location, plenty of choices and many things on the menu. Parking is just street parking nearby. The restaurant itself is quite nice. There are plenty of ice cream choices and what seems to be other choices of desserts on the menu. I got the Cookie Monster ice cream one scoop and it was ~$5 Service was quick without issue.
google avatar

Catlynn Z.

Yelp
Had a great experience, Justin was very helpful with helping us choose a flavor we would enjoy! The employees were very kind and friendly even with my indecisive child. The store was very inviting and had cute decor.

Chris M.

Yelp
6.15 for a half a scoop of ice cream.....this can't be right lol. It's their oat flavor but if yall are charging an extra 2.50 gotta give a full scoop . I just got got big time.
google avatar

Erica B.

Yelp
Yum! Snuck in here after dinner for dessert during date night. The staff were friendly and patient, helping us with trying samples and deciding on options. The shop was also clean and orderly, definitely a plus!
google avatar

Mai S.

Yelp
We came in last second not knowing what time they close. They insisted we still come. They were so friendly and nice. They were excited about their products. No pics because we destroy the ice cream immediately. Soooo good. We did ice cream and affogato. The affocato with luck of the Irish was the best out of everything we picked. Loved it. Would def go back. Possibly tomorrow. GF options available

Maya V.

Yelp
great service that was super quick and the ice cream was soooo good! such a cute little ice cream shop!
google avatar

Michaela E.

Yelp
Stopped by Serendipity for a quick ice cream and to pick up some pints to go. I had a scoop of what the fudge and took home a pint of coffee and Cookie Monster. I wish I had paid more attention to what Cookie Monster looked like because when I got home and my husband opened it it was blue. It taste like Cotten candy ice cream with Oreos he said. I loved my scoop of what the fudge and can't wait to try the coffee. I can't wait to go back and try the ice cream sandwiches I have seen online.
google avatar

Shay D.

Yelp
I enjoyed my dessert after a nice meal!! I had the gooey butter cake cookies sandwich with birthday cake in the middle. Cookies were soft and gave a nice flavor with the ice cream.

Liz M.

Yelp
We love, love, love Serendipity!!! The ice cream is beyond delicious and the staff is great! I adore Becky, the owner - she is very kind and upbeat. While we loved the old Webster Groves location, the new shop in The Grove is gorgeous!
google avatar

Zyi L.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, fantastic staff, and unique flavorful ice cream and sweets! A must try! A great assortment for everyone, welcoming place, and even alcohol shakes!
google avatar

Jordan H.

Yelp
I got the ice cream sandwich, I got a chocolate chip cookie and a gooey butter cookie with Carmel cookie love in the middle. The chocolate chip cookie was very good since they warm it in the waffle maker beefier giving it to you. The gooey butter cookie had a good taste but it was slightly thick and didn't get to warm, so it was slight dry when eating. The ice cream in the middle was very good and taking and bite of all three together was a good ice-cream sandwich. The man working their also took the time to explain some things to us since it was my first time their.
google avatar

Morgan H.

Yelp
staff is super friendly and the store is super cute. i got a cone with s'mores ice cream and my partner got black walnut and butter pecan. a little expensive but it's a gentrified neighborhood so it's what you expect.

Yelp
You scream! I scream! We all scream for ice cream! ESPECIALLY SERENDIPITY'S! I was introduced to this long standing locally owned spot in the Grove area of St. Louis through Yelp, that hosted an event here and I am so glad they did! I have been here multiple times since and I LOVE it! The owner Becky is such a delight- so friendly and personable, I can see why she owns an ice cream shop! All of their hand dipped flavors are made in house, and they have some fun rotating flavors that are seasonal and holiday inspired. I recently attending their Ice Cream for breakfast weekend and the place was packed! WHY? Because they are awesome! I KNOW they had the best event because their waffle sundaes, boozy breakfast ice cream drinks and their delicious breakfast inspired ice cream flavors were all spectacular! And the free mug was also filled with your choice of FREE hot beverage- coffee, tea or hot chocolate! So, plan for that next year in February. Regardless all of their ice cream flavors are utterly delicious! Their seasonal mardi gras flavor was so good- KING CAKE! And I don't even LIKE traditional king cake but this ice cream I could eat by the gallon! If you are in St. Louis looking for a sweet treat, PLEASE stop at Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream! It is a can't miss experience!
google avatar

Tom E.

Yelp
I was in The Grove looking for dessert after dinner. This place was nearby, so I walked over. The ice cream I tried was good, but there are lots of options to sample yet. Speaking of which, they did offer samples. I had a good feeling about the place and product so I just made a selection and went with it. No regrets. The staff and service were totally fantastic. Decor is... modern?

Sarah D.

Yelp
Went into serendipity and asked for a small ice cream. The young lady gave me a kids scoop instead of clarifying my order. $7 for two of smallest scoops of ice cream I've ever seen. didn't even fit in the small sized cup. Total waste of money. Would not recommend. In the future, if you see an adult with no kids, and someone doesn't ask for kids scoops, don't give them one.

Marissa C.

Yelp
Interesting flavors. Good hot fudge and decent size scoops as well. The lady was very nice.
google avatar

Marlo S.

Yelp
After years of fantastic service and great ice cream at their old Webster Groves, I'm excited to seem them opening in the city in the super-hip Grove neighborhood. Never had the words "eat local" had more meaning. Ice cream should be quirky and interesting - like the people scooping it, for that matter. St. Louis is lucky to have a number of distinctive ice cream producers, to go with our distinctive beer, bbq, bookstores, and architecture (did I leave out anything important). Pricing is totally fair! The parking is totally NOT a problem! Down with the whiners. This is what living in a real city feels like. Get used to it (seriously).
google avatar

Steven B.

Yelp
Yum-Yum! So many forget that Serendipity was the trend setter for homemade ice cream in the St. Louis area. They blazed the trail for those newer ice cream shoppes that have popped up in the last couple of years. Being in Webster Grove's for a YEE at The Frisco, a group of stopped by afterwards for a sweet little treat. Some of my friends went whole hog and got huge cones or house made ice cream sandwiches. I was already fairly full and opted for a kid's cone. I like the fact that they let adults order the kids cone, some of the other parlor don't. I'm a sucker for any ice cream that has, "cake" in it's name, so my flavor of the night was, "Birthday Cake". It was so tasty, I'll be going back for more in a few days, when it truly is my birthday. The staff is typical ice cream parlor staff, high school kids. They work quickly, are courteous and friendly. May be young, but they're doing a great job. I'll be back? - Yep, for more, Birthday Cake Ice Cream When: October 30, 2018 Why: Sweet Treat

L A.

Yelp
I was visiting St. Louis and came across this ice cream place. The young lady was friendly and nice. She informed me the ice cream is made in house. I got the mint chip and it was good.

Andrea M.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Friendly staff and was able to sample before buying. All ice cream is made by hand.
google avatar

Lori H.

Yelp
This ice cream is good! I ordered the "tiny trio" so I have try three difference flavors and I honestly loved them all! I tried peach, swiss chip, and what the fudge. So yummy!!
google avatar

Chelsea M.

Yelp
Ice cream was good, but not a lot of variety in flavor...maybe like 12 basic flavors when we were there. We got the mint chocolate chip and the monster cookie flavors. Tasted good and what you would expect. Price was reasonable. It's on a busy road so parking isn't the easiest. New location so interested to see how they get settled in. Not very impressed this time, but it was good if you are in the area and craving the 'scream.
google avatar

Olivia N.

Yelp
VERY VERY NICE EMPLOYEES. great selection of icecream. even during pandemic. website pretty user friendly. worth the price. 11/10 would recommend.

Lindsay S.

Yelp
If you like ice cream and not custard this is the place to go. Lots of flavors and options that cater to all and the staff is always patient and kind.
google avatar

Audra M.

Yelp
Super yummy. Also get the petite trio so I can try something new. Good service and atmosphere.
