There's So Much More to East Africa Than Its Wildlife — Like an Active Volcano and a Collapsed Caldera With a Pearly Blue Lake

"Appreciate the enormity of Serengeti National Park from a helicopter, offering views of the Arugusinyai River gorge, Lake Eyasi, Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano, and Empakaai Crater." - Liz Wheeler

Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge

"Perched on a ridge with views over the savanna, this lodge exudes traditional African architecture with grass-thatch huts that resemble the rondavel dwellings of a Masai village. Accommodations are charming with natural stone bathrooms and private balconies. Located in Serengeti National Park, guests can see the annual wildebeest migration or the Big Five."

When 16 Australian photographers hit the Serengeti for the last 3 days of our 15-day East Safari, we were so excited to see the migration just a few kilometres from the Serena Serengeti resort. We thought we had seen it all, but in 3 days, we saw hippos, lions, leopards, and the natural phenomenon of mother nature, the migration.|We came back each day to this amazing resort with a sunset viewing point. Our dining table was outside overlooking the grounds with sensational food, our waiter John catered for our every needs. Our bungalows were a delight.. wildlife wandered the outskirts ..our baloon ride on the last day was perfection ..|Serena Serengeti.Thank you for a smashing time.||

Had a great two day stay in this very interesting lodge (Walk into your room felt a little like walking through the Shire from Lord of the Rings). The rooms had fans which was very nice if the evenings were warm and muggy. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. The food was great and there was plenty of it! ||The views of the Serengeti from the pool area are not to be missed.

What a gorgeous lodge. Spent 2 nights. The rooms were large and beautiful with balcony that looked over the Serengeti. Sometime the animals are in your back yard. The staff so friendly and the food was wonderful. Anything you could want. Loved the traditional dance at 6:30 each night. Could have spent more time there. The setting was beautiful and you felt like you were in the middle of the Serengeti!

Serengeti Serena is my favorite Lodge in the Serengeti. The cabins are amazing. After a long day in Serengeti the bar is a great place to have a beer or two..And listen to some authentic African music. Food is well above average. With a great selection for all travelers… The view of the Serengeti is well worth the stay… We used Roy’s Safari as our guide service. Well worth it…||So in our minds it was an amazing place. Wish we had more time to stay there. We will be coming back…|Thank you|Bob & Brenda Visser

We were so impressed by Serena Safari Lodge when we stayed for two nights as part of a safari tour we had booked through Trailfinders in the UK for our honeymoon. Pictures struggle to adequately convey the majesty of the place. Our room overlooked the bush and we could see wild animals including wildebeest and zebra grazing right outside our balcony. Other members of our tour also saw a leopard not too far away from the main entrance as they were driving to an early-morning excursion - which neatly demonstrates why you need guards to escort you from your room to the main bar/dining area after dark! Next to the pool there is a fantastic observation deck offering a panoramic view of the vast Serengeti plains. We were lucky enough to have a sunrise breakfast there one morning, as thousands of wildebeest gathered on the horizon ahead of the Great Migration - accompanied by some brilliant entertainment laid on by the highly professional staff. We were particularly impressed by Pius, the restaurant manager, who could not have done more to make our honeymoon as special as possible - with staff even singing to us and presenting us with a cake one evening. We are enormously grateful to him for his attentiveness and personal touch throughout our stay, it's the type of thing that helps to make trips like these particularly special. My wife is a vegetarian and she was extremely pleased with the range of delicious options for all our meals.

The moment we entered the Serena Safari Lodge we knew we were in for an amazing , unforgettable experience. Nestled in the heart of Tanzania's iconic Serengeti National Park, this resort offers a blend of luxury, adventure, and nature that is truly unparalleled. The dining experience was out of this world. This is a place where dreams come true—don't miss it.

We stayed in 6 different Serena hotels in Tanzania. Rooms are generally very good. Staff are excellent with some providing truly exceptional service. Food and drinks good. Would be nice to have some local food offerings on the menu. Only real downside after 11 nights in different Serena hotels is the coffee. They all serve the same horrible coffee; weak, tasteless American drip style dirt water. Otherwise our stay was great. This lodge had wonderful views from the room. We even had an elephant munching on the long grass only a few meters off our balcony.
