A perfect location with friendly staff, fantastic activities - but the room let down the stay
Pros - The location is perfect right near the beach and the shops. The staff are so lovely and kind and welcoming. The activities they have each nice are brilliant and this for me was the best part of staying here. You can do yoga, palm reading, painting, sound therapy, organised trips even. The vegan food on the menu tasted good, and was reasonably priced. There’s a real peaceful and friendly community here and the cafe is set up in a way to encourage you to sit with others and talk. I loved the beautiful garden and all the interesting signs. The decor is great and there’s always something to look at. They really have guests and activities in mind and you can see that with all the opportunities you get.
Cons - the (private) room was not good. I am happy with basic accommodation and had expected that but the issue is that it didn’t feel very clean. It used to be a kitchen but it still completely looked and felt just that - like an old kitchen. It was damp and there was no window in the bathroom or air filter and also it was a fire door so the air was super mouldy in there I actually developed a really bad cough and had to go to the doctors.
Maybe if you are staying in a big dorm you will be fine!
I didn’t love the breakfast buffet. I was always still hungry afterwards because it was usually only fruit (dragon fruit, melon) or some kind of cabbage/carrot salad and then the bread was gf. It’s really old school vegan food with an emphasis on raw / gf food. It would have been nice to have more carbs as they were always super limited. For example some granola to go with the fruit or noodles / rice to go with the salad.
Noise - regular fireworks would keep me awake at night they would be throughout the night after 12am even some at 3am.
If you love yoga, veganism and the community around that and want a peaceful hostel rather than a party one I’m sure you’d really enjoy here!
