If you are reading this review then odds are you have also read some of the 1-2 star reviews about this resort, and odds are you have some of the same concerns we had when booking. However, I am pleased to say that after a week at Serenity Glamping we couldn't be happier with our experience there. We'll start with the concerns, and my experience: Cleanliness: the rooms were clean and well-maintained, with daily cleaning service including full turndown and fresh amenities (including locally sourced bathing and hygiene products). The tents were spacious, cute (a little rustic with dark wood furnishings and a small writing desk). Temperature control: AC is centrally located in all rooms (our booking was for 3 glamping tents) and cools the rooms well. The air circulated and, on hotter evenings where we turned the AC up, we woke up chilly. Location: Xpu-ha is remote in the sense that it is between Playa and Akumal, but that is the very point of it. Colectivos (local taxis) can be hailed from the main gate (1min walk from reception) and are 60 pesos a person to Playa or Tulum. Cabs are hideously expensive, don't bother. Likewise, the beach is about 5min walk from reception. The walk is shaded and pleasant. Once on the beach you will be treated to well-groomed white sand, gentle surf, and vibrant coral reef about 75 metres offshore. Noise: the highway is close, as is Playa airport, but this is true of all the all-inclusives on the strip. At least the Glamping staff provide earplugs, however I had no issues at all sleeping as the jungle dampens ambient noise. We never heard club music and I don't even know where it would be coming from, as the adjacent resort is pretty far and the beach club seems to shut down early. My wife is a light sleeper and, after a night of adjusting to the crickets, birds and coatimundi sounds had no issue at all. Amenities: the restaurant breakfast is actually not bad, coming in at around 130 pesos for a reasonable breakfast and 70 pesos for coffee (but free refills). If you don't care for the coffee cost, there is in-room refrigerators and I kept a couple iced coffees on hand for lazier days when I didn't want to restaurant. For the beach club, we never had an issue getting 3x plush loungers for our group of 5, no matter what time of day. This may differ if you book over a national holiday, as the Riviera tends to get quite busy, but for our trip in January the club was popular but never full. The club restaurant is expensive, but the staff don't seem to care if you bring your own water and snacks. Just don't push it and you'll be fine. Staff: I cannot say enough about the staff. Specifically, Alejandra and Victor are lovely people who were happy to chat, provide expert advice about the local area, and in general ensure our trip was the best it could be. Overall impression is that I would (and will) return to this resort in a heartbeat. The beach is unparalleled, the rooms are adorable and romantic, and the staff are lovely. The location is remote while also being within 20 minutes of vibrant central tourism locations.

Impossible to sleep — nightclub and highway noise nonstop.. this place has nothing to do with 5 star hotel, it’s a scam. I booked 3 nights here directly through their website because it looked like a peaceful, luxury eco-glamping experience. Unfortunately, it was nothing like what was advertised. When we arrived late at night, we were shocked by how loud it was. A nightclub right next door was blasting music with such heavy bass that the tent was literally vibrating and we could feel it in our bodies. The music continued well past 1:00 AM, making it impossible to sleep. On top of that, there was constant highway noise on the other side, so it felt like we were stuck between a club and a freeway — the opposite of a quiet nature escape. There were even earplugs already placed in the room, which proves the hotel knows about the extreme noise but doesn’t disclose this issue when you book. Because the conditions were not livable, we checked out the next morning and asked for a refund for the 2 nights we didn’t stay. They refused to refund us anything. We paid for a calm and relaxing environment and instead experienced a sleepless, stressful night. If you expect to rest or sleep on your vacation, stay away from this place.

We stayed here in December of 2022. My wife and I and 4 kids ages 17-21. We loved it, but we also knew exactly what to expect. These are tents in the jungle sandwiched between multiple noisy beach clubs and the one and only road along the Maya Riviera. We didn't have issues with noise ourselves and we also brought bug spray. The big lodge tent we stayed in was really cool. We had a stove and fridge and loaded up on groceries before we got there. We did the included breakfast everyday which was great. We also had dinner at the restaurant twice which we enjoyed and lunch once at the club on the beach. That was a bit pricey, but we knew that going in and usually made other plans. We also did day trips to other places and ate wherever we were (we walked to the road and waved down a collectivo). If you are expecting to sit on the beach an not go anywhere and drink your self stupid, then yes you are going to pay extra and through the nose for it. We didn't. We loved it.

Well, I have to give one star here as well. The tents are great, and the outdoor area is beautiful. However, the glamping hotel does not offer a laundry service, even though it was listed on Booking.com. This was one of the main reasons we booked it—to do some laundry. Wrong again. There was also no proper information on how to get around from this location. The only answer we got was “Taxi”. To clarify: There is no Uber here. After having only bad experiences with taxis in Mexico, we were forced to rent a car in Playa del Carmen. This place has nothing to offer. The Mystik Restaurant only accepted reservations, even for hotel guests. The supposedly amazing (not really) beach club also required reservations, and all the best spots were always taken by outsiders. Terrible. No exclusivity for hotel guests. The beach was packed, and at night, loud, annoying music played constantly. The hotel even handed out earplugs—that’s how bad it was. You come here expecting to “camp” in nature, but instead, you hear traffic from the road and horrible bass from the beach clubs all night long. So frustrating. The staff’s English was very poor, making communication difficult. As a tourist, it feels like you can only get anywhere if you speak Spanish, which is exhausting. Unfortunately, this was not at all what I expected. One star.

The photos were decieving. It shows that its nice and clean, but once you get there it’s the opposite. The whole place is dirty as if living in a garbage dump. The walls that seperate the rooms to the outside is made of tinfoil and plastic. The photos make it seem like you have beach side view but thats wrong. You still have to walk about half a mile to get there. And when you do, it is very filthy and packed, it is not a private beach, anyone can come in and use the same beach. There is no private parking, and the parking lot is just a terrain with holes everywhere. We could not stay there, it did not feel safe for me and my family. We tried getting our money back but they refused. Do NOT stay here.

Noisy? YES! Overhyped? YES! Serenity? Don’t make me laugh. May as well sleep by the roadside. The noise from the traffic is 24/7. Once you’ve trekked to the beach the location is nice but the food and drink at their beach club is overpriced and poor quality. Nice beach and sea but Serenity have no influence over the nature. I’m sure given a chance they’d spoil it due to their ineptitude. Their customer service is appalling. After being left without electricity and running water for over 24 hours we had to leave a night early after they agreed to refund the cost of the final night because of their inadequacies. They then refused to answer any messages or calls from Hotels.com as well as my own independent messages and have yet to pay the agreed refund. Absolute scoundrels. Having now stayed in a further 5 hotels around the Quintana Roo and Yucatan areas I can honestly say this is the worst place I’ve had the displeasure of staying. Customer service. Rooms. Food quality and price. Location. All of these are the worst we’ve experienced. Serenity is overpriced and run by the most inept collection of people we’ve had the displeasure of interacting with. So far we’ve successfully warned 10 people off from staying with them and we will continue to tell all we can so they don’t have to endure the appalling experience we have.

It's always so nice to return here and see old friends. We love the ambiance, the food, the peacefulness & of course the serenity. Always have a relaxing time. The beach and club are close enough, and the short walk down the road isn't bad at all. The reviews that are negative in concern with children and noise of neighbors, etc., are a matter of getting what you get any given time. We've been fortunate enough to always be there in optimum circumstances...weather, insects, people...whatever.|It also has to do with bringing your own positivity. We always enjoy ourselves, the wonderful staff and the beautiful property. Looking forward to our yearly visit.|Hasta luego amigos !

We had the best time of our lives, my husband and I were married on the beach front around family. Serenity Glamping provided a unique stay with a great staff. Concierge, Alex, at the front goes above and beyond! Cleaning staff left us a different romantic bed art each night. ||We enjoyed our complimentary coffee and hot breakfast! This was a great add, many hotels in the area don’t include so your trip can cost a lot more if you don’t watch for this. ||It’s a quiet place on a quiet beach that felt safe for families and also more locals around. The beach club access to the lounge cars was a great luxury compared to some hotels on Tulum beach.
