Serge Gainsbourg House

Incredible experience. Narrated room by room by Charlotte Gainsbourg, the Gainsbourg family has created a thoughtful and immersive experience. Entry is timed so you’re not sharing space with other guests, which further enhances the tour. Tickets are released every two months via their website and are limited, so sign up for their mailing list to ensure your spot. PS - photos inside the home are strictly prohibited but exterior pics are allowed (and leaving a message/cigarette butt) are encouraged :)

A great exhibition in a great house — you can really feel Serge Gainsbourg’s presence, especially with the voice of his daughter Charlotte in your head. A magical moment.

Visiting the Gainsbourg House and Museum wasn’t just a cultural outing, it felt like a spiritual rebirth. The experience was deeply intimate, haunting in the most beautiful way, and left me with a lingering sense of melancholic inspiration. Walking through Serge’s preserved home, with every cigarette stub, scrawl, and bottle untouched, was like stepping directly into his genius and his decay. It’s not a sanitised homage, it’s raw, personal, real. The audio tour was deeply atmospheric, letting Charlottes voice guide me through the spaces he inhabited. The museum across the street was equally stunning, curated with elegance and a touch of reverence, but still pulsing with that gritty, Gainsbourg energy. Art, music and poetry all woven together in a way that feels honest, human, and alive. I didn’t go to the bar, so I can’t speak to that part of the experience, but the energy throughout the entire space was magnetic. I felt lucky and deeply thankful to be there. This is more than a museum. It’s a pilgrimage site for those inspired by Serge. 10/10 one of the most powerful and moving museums I’ve visited Paris. If you’re even remotely drawn to Gainsbourg, go!!!

A very interesting experience with charlotte Gainsbourg narrating the tour. We had a 10:30 time a lot and weren’t let in until 11. I like that they limit the number of people at one time but the timing. Ours be a little better planned.

We toured the house and museum today . The tour of the home was beyond my expectations. Beautiful and truly moving with narrative by Charlotte Gainsbourg. (My favorite actress ). All of the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. So glad we went on this tour. Don’t miss it.

All the tickets to Gainsbourg’s house were sold out for weeks, so I settled for the museum opposite. My experience here contradicted with many reviewers as I found it quite unpleasant to visit on a hot day. My low rating is not related to the contents but rather the design and management of the museum. The exhibition area is a narrow corridor painted black and crammed full of photos and memorabilia behind the glass on one side, and videos on the other. On the day of my visit, the place was packed, and it was very stuffy… worst of all, the people in front simply did not move. They just stood there for 10-15 mins reading/ watching videos, and did not bother about the people behind. I waited so long before I could move a little forward, and it was impossible to get past them as the place was crowded, so in the end I had to skip a part of the exhibition because I needed to get some air! I was shocked to see that there is a roomy cafe/bar at the end of the visit, so why crammed everything into such a narrow space - it makes no sense! There needs to be crowd control, someone to regulate the lines and some ventilation system inside when it is hot. Or simply don’t let so many people in at the same time!

A must see for fans of Serge (and Charlotte). The highlight is the tour of Serge's house with a very personal and touching audio commentary by Charlotte. I can't praise this enough. The museum has hundreds of fascinating objects packed into a small space. A factual audio guide would have been nice to explain some of the more significant objects in the museum. If you don't know much about Serge and his work it is well worth doing a bit of research first so you can get the most out of your visit.

For me it's best museum, which I was in. It's so unbelievable, that we have opportunity to be in house of Serge, and see through Charlotte's voice all they life. I love Jane so much, and it's always was interesting to see place, which she described in her dairy. Also it's unbelievable to see that place, where Serge made his songs. Very moving place. We also enjoyed moment in bar and second part of museum. Everything was interesting. In shop a lot of books, but not on English.
