A Local’s Guide to Armenia

"I’d recommend the Sergei Parajanov Museum, which is dedicated to the Armenian director and artist famed for the films Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors (1965) and The Color of Pomegranates (1969). Along with the renowned oeuvre showcased here, this is a great place for creative musings—a special atmosphere seems to hover over the museum, and one always discovers new things even when revisiting it."

A must-visit. Really good museum with a lot of Paradjanov's works (besides his movies). After going through all the rooms you will be able to see his true character. I didn't really start to love him (because I don't understand him well), but I admit that thanks to the museum I saw him as a genius.

Great museum showcasing Sergeis work. Lots yo see and think about. Feels like there could be a lot more information to accompany the art but perhaps that's when you need the local tour guide to explain some of the art and put it into some context.

The museum is worth a visit. Very strange and extraordinary art presents. Our tour guide was really good and the information she provided was very interesting and detailed.

Amazing museum, if you have never heard of Paradjanov before - why haven’t you? Very talented person, great structure of the exhibitions, very nice tour guides and the staff at the museum in general - highly recommended for the tourists and the locals, too. Can imagine how nice the area looks like in the summer as well.

Museum of Paradjanov is a matter of preferences one could critique his way of expressing artworks the other could admire. To find out which group you belong to I suggest you to visit the museum. Tickets are free every last saturday of each month for residents.

Good museum overall! Plenty of space to show Sergei's scope of creativity. Nice collages, art objects, posters, installations. My personal view is that notwithstanding obvious talent, Sergei has a dark or morbid streak, which is not a surprise, looking at his life events. But if you are taking small children, I would warn you that it may be a bit disturbing for unprepared and underdeveloped mind.. other than that, good. Also I had an impression that some artwork is more of a show off of a technique than an effort to convey some idea. Still good but feels like it was done just for quantity if you will. I have the same feeling with Tseretely sculptures, their sheer number suggests he just did not have time to put the meaning in.🤭

A very interesting museum of an exceptionally interesting man. Though the English audioguide could have been better, it does serve its purpose, of taking you through his inner and outer life. His personal art projects are what really stands out here, with inspired collages and eccentric, macabre dolls and art installations that should delight any enthusiasts of the weird and the obscure. This museum is a must while you visit Yerevan, especially if you have any interest at all in Soviet culture or art house films.
