Great food with a wonderful atmosphere! The bartenders are top-notch, fun, and the customer service is outstanding! Highly recommended! This was our first visit, but definitely won’t be our last! Thank you! 😎👍

The chips and salsa were some of the best I’ve ever had. $5 extremely well worth it. The hot salsa was phenomenal. And it was hot. The carne asada tacos are also fantastic. We also had the breakfast burrito. The avocado was heavy in the burrito, a little spicy, but very good. *Added bonus* Fountain sodas are really good. Not sure if it’s the mixture or what, but you definitely can enjoy a great Diet Coke.

I had an absolutely awful experience last night at Session. Our group of eight was willing to split into two groups of four to be seated more quickly, as we informed the host upon arrival. However, we waited for an hour and a half without receiving any notification that our table was ready. When I approached the host to express my concerns—especially since we had a concert to attend in less than an hour—she told me there were no two tables available to accommodate us. After speaking with the manager, she informed us that there was nothing they could do and couldn’t even provide an estimated wait time. This left us scrambling to find another place to eat within the limited time we had. So much for celebrating a friend’s 50th birthday dinner. The customer service was terrible—they let us wait that long despite knowing we wouldn’t be seated anytime soon. Why waste people’s time? Do better, Session!

I used to eat here all the time and the place was really good but I haven't been since they rebranded so I went in and unfortunately I will not be going back. I ordered the burrito I usually get. I saw they had made changes to it on the menu so I had it customized. My burrito ended up being 80% just lettuce. They barely put any meat in there at all I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to pay $16 for a burrito that was just lettuce. The service also not as good as it used to be and there is only like me and maybe two other people on the whole place. There shouldn't have been a reason why we weren't talked to or checked in on at all.

Google
There were customers, but only about five tables were occupied, and the place was quite large. I can't understand why the waitress seated us near the restroom. The table was dirty, but the waiter cleaned it right away. He was quite lively and kind. Since we had already eaten somewhere else, we ordered three types of tacos and a margarita. The mango habanero shrimp taco was tasty, so we ordered two more. However, the carne asada taco was really disappointing. The restroom walls were extremely dirty. It makes me wonder if they ever clean walls... There were no napkins on the table, and the waiter didn't bring any.

Google
Food was great and always consistent.blt tacos were great hope they keep them on the menu. Courtney was the great. Worked in a timely efficient manner as my server. Drew was the bartender and did a solid job. As a chef, I was very pleased with my experience. Will be back

Google
The food was great and the customer service was on par. I went back again with my sister and I'm not going to lie we waited pretty long and let me just say they know when they made a mistake and they will help you fix that mistake. They ended up giving us a discount because we waited longer than they expected us to wait and that was really really nice and they really didn't have to do that. We were very appreciative and they were awesome and really good about it in letting us know. If you can't figure out what you want ask your waiter for suggestions because they have some great picks. They have alcoholic and non alcoholic margaritas which by the way are delicious. Highly recommend and will go back again.

Google
The food was so good! I had the chicken flautas and habanero chicken tacos. Both excellent and a must try. I do not recommend the hot salsa it’s bland! 5 stars because the food was excellent and I’m not hating just because one thing didn’t please me. Yummy!!

Emerine C.

Yelp
I've been to this location a lot, but I recently went back and this was the first time since their rebrand to session taco. The margaritas are pretty much the same and very tasty and strong. Nice updated taco selection with about half of the same, half new. I tried the mahi mahi taco which was good, a bit fishy tasting, and the portabello taco which I always love. Service was great, and we didn't feel rushed. Love their new decorations as well.

Yelp
I really wanted to like the new Session Taco menu on Delmar, but it was a mixed experience. The vibe of the place is cool, and the staff were friendly and quick with our order. However, the fish & chips was a big letdown. It tasted off and was pretty bland overall, which was disappointing given how much I was looking forward to it. The other food we tried was decent, but the fish really missed the mark. I might give it another shot, but I'd definitely steer clear of the fish next time.

Yelp
Mid. And they charge for chips and salsa. If you order guac AND salsa they'll casually forget the second basket of chips. As a group we had to ask for the chips that come with it three times before they gave us our (charged for) chips. There's still Misson taco memorabilia which is nice. And the wait is always long on weekends, so that was to be expected. Drinks are good though!

Nicole I.

Yelp
Great tacos! Never disappoints! It's always busy so use this app to join the waitlist! They have a few outside tables for when the weather is nice.

Mandie B.

Yelp
MTJ is such a great spot! I love how they have the feature to check in to get on the wait list in advance so that when you arrive, you will likely not have too long of a wait. My friends and I were going to see a show on Saturday night at the pageant and wanted to meet up beforehand for dinner at MTJ so this worked out great! We had such a friendly server despite the place being packed. They were so busy that they ran out of plates so she kept apologizing about it and then they were washed and dried, she brought some over right away. Our table had some drinks and we ordered the guacamole with chips and salsa to start and then we ordered a bunch of tacos and some street corn. Everything was tasty and fresh. We had plenty of food to share and the service was just great.

Yelp
I recently returned to Mission Taco in the Loop for the first time since Covid. We arrived close to closing time, which can sometimes lead to a mixed experience, but we were seated and served promptly. We began with the carne asada fries and chicken empanada appetizers. Both were delicious, especially the fries. For our main dishes, we ordered tacos, which were served on large trays, causing some confusion about which taco belonged to whom. The tacos themselves were just okay, and I noticed that the menu hasn't changed in years. I ordered the Birria beef sandwich which tasted ok, but I wouldn't order again. On the positive side, the service was excellent, the restaurant was clean and quiet, and the lighting and bar area were pleasant. I recommend Mission Taco in the Loop to anyone looking for a solid Tex-Mex spot.

Erika L.

Yelp
Came here with two girlfriends, couldn't quite decide on what to order so we ordered one of every taco on the menu and it was the best choice ever! This is an affordable way to satisfy many different people's palates and a fun way to test out the menu! Great for those who are at times indecisive like I was that night.

Allison W.

Yelp
I'm sad to say that my last order from the Delmar location was not great. I got the hot fried chicken tacos and they were hardly cooked. My friend said her two tacos tasted off too. We got chips and salsa and a 32oz margarita to go. I also got a side of the Baja fries. Those were all fantastic! However, the tacos were a miss this time around.

Leah Anh N.

Yelp
I visited this place a lot in the past. They used to have happy hour after ten which two dollar taco, now they do not have this deal anymore, which is probably why this place was not as busy on weekend night as it was in the past. We ordered tacos including my favorite Mango-Hop-Anero Shrimp tacos, Guacamole & chips, Carne Asada Fries, and Beef Birria. The food were great. The service was decent. The waitress took our orders and did check on us one time.

Stephanie Y.

Yelp
One of my favorite taco spots and a must visit whenever I'm in St. Louis. They have a wide range of options (including vegetarian) and have tacos on both corn and flour shells. I always get their chips and either salsa / guac to start and then a few tacos (ranging from 3 to 5 depending on how hungry I am - though I did get a weird look when I ordered 5 before). Service is generally pretty solid but the place does get very crowded during prime hours (and thus a bit slower). Seats are decently far apart so you can't hear other people's convos too much. It has quick food vibes vs. bougie dinner out, but it's such a solid option for some good quick food. My favorite taco by far is the portabella which has a meaty chunk of mushroom on the inside, some crunch from onion and lots of sauce. It's incredible. The fried fish is also good.

Kathleen A.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the food. More CAL influence than TX/MEX. I had the governors tacos which were delicious and priced decently for the Amt of food including the sides. My friend had "the bowl" with chicken. She said it was tasty. We also had the chorizo queso, also very good. I had the mission margarita which I enjoyed. Our servers were helpful and attentive. The ambiance was fine, very people watching hip casual vibe. The only problem I had with this "joint" is that there is a step in the back corridor to the restroom that is not at all well marked and I walked right off it and landed on my knee and elbow on a quarry tile floor. The staff helped me stand up, but I was headed out to a concert at the pageant and did not realize the cut on my elbow was deep and bled for another 3 hrs and then more when I got home that night. It was bandaged and sanitized when I got home, but 2 days later it all still hurts. Need more obvious markers at this location before somebody breaks something. So glad I did not! Probably would have given you 5 starts if I hadn't left injured.

Beth W.

Yelp
What a great restaurant! But be warned: the delivery app prices are insane. Like, highway robbery level insane.

Yupeng L.

Yelp
Great tacos, my favorites are the fried chicken and carne asada. I think the tacos are on the pricier side for what you get. However, the burritos are not it - they're pretty bland, even when you get the one with sauce poured on it. I have no idea how they turn out the way they do.

Lexi M.

Yelp
I've been here so many times but never reviewed it! This place is a must visit if you're in the loop area. Their two options are amazing and they have a different taco every month. Their appetizer menu is the BEST! Their homemade tortilla chips are amazing and the salsa is unmatched. Great spot for all the taco lovers out there!

Brittany A.

Yelp
Always great food and drinks! Spicy Margarita is the perfect amount of spice and it's not too sweet. There are so many great options on the menu, you really can't go w

Jonathan C.

Yelp
So this was really disappointing. I've heard the quality has gone down here, but I still wanted to get tacos with my wife on a nice Tuesday night. We ordered chips and salsa, and got two portabello tacos, a shrimp habenero taco, a fried chicken taco, carne asada taco, and the soft taco (impossible meat). The chips were oily and not crunchy, and the sauces were pretty basic. The portabello tacos were extra oily, which was nauseating. Not like before! The shrimp taco was average, with overcooked shrimp. The fried chicken taco was terrible, with the chicken half the size of a normal ink pen. Pretty much it was breading and toppings in the taco. The carne asada taco had beef that was hard to chew, with only three pieces in the taco. My wife had the soft taco, which she said was too watery. Overall, I'm giving one star despite the nice location and ambience, just becaue the food was terrible. I'm sure the drinks were good, but we had water. A restaurant should just be a bar if the drinks are the mainstay. There are much better Mexican or similar style restaurants in the city.

Ron W.

Yelp
I would quickly give this place 5 stars if it just had more space!! If you are going to serve food this good you need a serious dining room! I know... it's trendy. But folks, I'm here for the FOOD! I had the Chorihuevo without a tortilla. So call it a bowl. Guys, if my wife will let me I'm coming back for supper. I'm doing it again. I've previously had their street tacos. They are the real deal. I'm not an Alcohol guy so I can't speak to that but my son in law seemed happy. All in all this is the #1 place in The Lou For street Mexican.

Denise C.

Yelp
First off, our server was wonderful! Shoutout to Zora! She was lovely to talk to, attentive, funny and welcoming. They now offer margarita pitchers, which were tasty and gave us a good buzz. The salsa tasted fresh and had two varieties; a green spicy salsa and red smokey salsa. I went with the portobello taco and the chorizo taco. My husband got the fish taco and BBQ chicken and had dinner envy. Get the chorizo one for sure. They are dog friendly and made sure we had plenty of water for our dog. Nice place to sit out and people watch at the Loop. Food came out quick. Only drawback was my husband said one of his fish tacos tastes stale.

Maria A.

Yelp
I honestly came in for their Street Corn "Off The Cob," which is really delicious. We ordered the dip trip for the table, which was decently priced. The guacamole and cheese dip was really good. For tacos, I ordered the portobello, beer battered Baja fish, and the hot fried chicken. The beer battered Baja fish wasn't as tasteful as I expected. A friend had their grilled Baja fish, and she said it was flavorful. I am not much of a mushroom fan, and I have to say I didn't mind the portobello taco. It was flavorful. We got a strawberry margarita honestly tasted like juice. It really needed more tequila. The staff was great and they brought our meals really quickly.

Daphne B.

Yelp
We just went for lunch during the week and the ambiance is very relaxed, calm and perfect for a productive lunch meeting. No wait time which allowed us to get in and out quickly with great food and service. Remember...besides street parking there's a free lot behind the restaurant for restaurant patrons!

Adam A.

Yelp
Food is decent, but the service is phenomenal. I come for the random rare and allocated mezcal, but I stay to see the awesome bartender Beck!

Bianca P.

Yelp
Ehhhhhh is the keyword for my review. We were looking for a spot to eat after the zoo. We found this street with a bunch of restaurants. So we parked and started walking down the street and found this taco joint and it was packed. So packed, we walked in and asked for a table for 2. There was no table so we sat at the bar. We had two awesome bartenders a young man with a Harry styles hair style and a young girl. They were awesome, quick customer service. We sat looked at the menu and ordered salsa and chips, corn fritters and 3 different tacos. Salsa one is mild one is spicy but with great flavor. The corn fritters could of used some more corn and flavor in them and more crema. Now we got the carne molida, carne asada and the pulled pork. The carne molida was okay nothing crazy. Carne asada was basic, and lacked flavor. The pulled pork was delicious but way too spicy.

Lucy S.

Yelp
We love coming to Mission Taco! Over the years it has gotten a bit more expensive since they stopped their Late Night Happy Hour (pre 2020), so I don't normally get their tacos anymore because of the cost, but when I heard they were doing their happy hour for their 10-year anniversary I knew I had to go! I've tried almost every taco on the menu and the ones I keep coming back to are the shrimp and portobello mushroom ones. The shrimp is the perfect balance of sweet, savory and creamy from the avocado, mango slaw, and the shrimp. Honestly, the portobello is sneaky good-- because it's all veggies I wouldn't normally go out of my way to order it, but the fried onions on top and the juiciness of the portobello with the smashed black bean combine so wonderfully it's one of my favorites on the menu! You do have to like black beans for this taco though. I personally am not a huge fan of the Carne Asada because I find it a little plain, but my friends who got it enjoyed the steak. Other notable favorites were the BBQ grilled chicken taco and the Carne Molida (must like beans). Because we were there for HH, it was pretty crowded and loud, and service was understandably a little slow, but we were able to get our $2 tacos after a bit of a wait. Pro-tip: get your tacos on flour tortillas! I realized years ago that you could do this and it made a BIG difference.

Naomi S.

Yelp
So good!! Tacos tasted gourmet and the chips were some of the best I've had:) coming from the west coast I can vouch that mission taco has some quality so cal Mexican!

Richard S.

Yelp
My family of seven stopped here on our way out of town back to Chicago. We wanted some Mexican food and a margarita! Because we were hangry we opted for our margaritas with some chips and guacamole! Our kids loved it and the chips were made fresh. My wife and I both got shrimp and chorizzo tacos. They were good, but not special. I'd love to try more options here in the future. Our kids opted for quesadillas and enjoyed them with fries. Overall, good food; great drinks, but a bit pricey for what you get. If they had fairer pricing, they'd get a 5 star review here.

Zack G.

Yelp
Came here again and was very impressed with their homemade chips & different salsas!! 8

Emily B.

Yelp
We came in on a Sunday for lunch and we're fairly pleased with our experience. We were able to try a variety of different tacos! The menu allows for you to mix and match any amount of tacos you would like, which we really liked! One downside was that these were served family style. We had a vegan in our group, whose tacos were placed onto the same taco tray as meat and dairy tacos. Thankfully they weren't allergic to anything, as we did see how someone with potential food allergies might find this style of serving not favorable. Overall the food was decent and the pricing was very fair.

John S.

Yelp
Had several items including the guacamole and all of it seemed to be from last night. The guacamole was horrible. The hot fried chicken taco was not much more than a chicken nugget thrown onto a tortilla. Wasn't spicy and it was cold.

Joe T.

Yelp
Updating this review due to owners response. Should have been clear. I would have given this restaurant a 3 at most before the price point. The cost subtracted only 1 star from my review. The food is ok . Not great, for the prices you charge it's not even good. I understand wanting to pay people well. I've worked in restaurants that have. But our quality to price ratio was not part of that equation of paying our employees. We didn't sacrifice on any front there. The point of the review was not to complain about the price it was to complain about the food quality not matching that price point. If the food was incredible price wouldn't be a factor but as it sits the food is mid tier at best. There are just better places in this city that pay their employees well and don't also overcharge their customers while using the well-being of their employees as a shield from criticism.

Grace P.

Yelp
This street taco place is not my favorite... in fact, I don't go here after two visits. The tacos are just not very good- flavors a bit off, greasy. Both times I went it was pretty busy and took some time to get our food. Restaurant was also a bit loud. I don't recommend this place to visitors

Jordan H.

Yelp
I got the barbecue chicken tacos. The chicken inside was very. The barbecue sauce with the the pickled onion on top just made it have a better taste. They are a good taco.

Christina Z.

Yelp
Every time I've come to this location the service and food are great! I put our party on the yelp waitlist but there wouldn't have been a wait even if we weren't. Tacos were excellent!! If it says habanero, it will be spicy.

Tyler G.

Yelp
I have been here many times. Everytime I come here the food is always flavorful and cooked properly! The drinks are made fresh and are never watered down. The atmosphere is a nice chill place with a bar right in the middle of it all. The music is a little loud, but I can never hear anyone anyway so it's all good. I am a big fan of the custom mexican wrestler heads on the wall that were done by an established St. Louis artist. If you are ever needing to pick between here and another mexican place, go here. You will not be disappointed.

Christal T.

Yelp
Drew was awesome! He took my order right away and made sure to ask if everything was good and he has an awesome vibe!! Go see Drew behind the bar!!

Bennet A.

Yelp
we went with our small children at an off time to hopefully have our meal be quick and easy- definitely was not. We were the only customers when we got in there around 11;40 am on a Monday, and it took a while for us to be served. and at that point it was fine. but then it took him forever to take our order- other customers were now coming in and were being served before us. We got there a half and hour before the next customers did and we got our food at the same time because of our waiter. Then when I ordered my brah-rito, I noticed it was very dry and bland. But since I was with a 4 year old and baby I just wanted to eat my food and get out of there as it was taking longer than we were expecting any way. After I finished eating I peeked at the menu and realized my food was missing two ingredients- the cheese and the guacamole- and there were only like 6 ingredients total. No wonder it was so dry and bland. Then it took forever for our waiter to bring our check- many other people had dined and left that came way after us. All in all it's a 2 star experience and this place has gone way down hill.

Kennedy T.

Yelp
Mission taco is a magical, wonderful, beautiful place. I love eating hot chicken fried taco while songs like "this is why I'm hot" and "tipsy" play in the background.

Margery D.

Yelp
Beautiful day to sit outside with a pina colada ( nonalcoholic & still tasty) chips & guac while I decide how many tacos hungry am I today?

Megan H.

Yelp
Food was amazing!! Spent a lot of time at the bar and the bartender Thomas was great:)

Rachael D.

Yelp
Got the carne asada fries. The beef was inedible. So chewy and not a good cut. Server seemed swamped. Wouldn't get again.

Tierra T.

Yelp
Thomas was the best bartender! The service was great and the food was just as good, if you're not sure what to get you should try the lobster taco!

Braeden R.

Yelp
At first we tried the "Big *ss Nacho" and were a bit disappointed (the large chip it was served on was stale and there were many more jalapeños than would be ideal - coming from a lover of spicy food). However, we gave it another shot the next day and ate from the happy hour menu and were delighted with the portion sizes and prices. Great deal on margarita pitchers and very nice that happy hour is everyday - even Fridays. Therefore, I update my review and look forward to coming back.

Christa M.

Yelp
Holy hell. These are good tacos. I had the fish taco and the shrimp tacos and BODY (that means really good). I would have their street corn as my death row meal. We got the tri dips and their salsa...WOW. Amazing. Bean dip also slaps. Place was clean with cool artwork on the walls. Staff were nice and service was quick. If you like tacos, you should go here. And if you don't like tacos, go here anyways cause you're wrong.

Xiao Z.

Yelp
The tacos were pretty good. I particularly liked the loaded crunchy veggies and topping sauces. Not very Mexican style imo, but still a really tasty style that came lighter without too much greasy juice from the meat and more texture from the toppings. The salad was the reason I took 1 star off, the avocado was not ripen...

Jenn C.

Yelp
Stopped by before heading to the festivities for July 4th. First time here. Recently moved from Alabama. 1 Portabella Taco 1 Spicy Chorizo 1 Mango Habanero Shrimp 1 Street Corn 1 Cilantro Rice 1 Chip & Salsa 1 Mezcal Margarita The service was efficient. We were seated quickly. Took our server a minute to come by but they were busy. We shared the sides and picked our own tacos of course lol. I like that you get more than one salsa selection. The tacos were yummy. My favorite of the three above was the portabella taco. It was flavorful and the mushrooms was cooked perfectly. The shrimp was tasty but it didn't wow me. I didn't care for the chorizo much it was just okay. The corn and the rice was delicious. We all enjoyed those. The Margarita definitely wasn't strong. The server had a hard time understanding that we were trying to order a top shelf Margarita so we gave up on that. I'd definitely go back and try again

AMANDA S.

Yelp
I'm visiting St. Louis and ordered a few different tacos for delivery. We ordered the mushroom, steak, and fried fish tacos. For sides we ordered the corn and the refried black beans. The best thing was the fried fish taco, WITHOUT the tortillas. It was the only item that had any seasoning other than everything being just a little bit spicy. All the tortillas were slightly burned which was the over arching flavor of the meal. Even the corn was burnt, I did not taste any lime or crema in the street style corn. I was really looking forward to a great meal, but had to season all the tacos myself. It may have just been a delivery experience. I'm thinking so considering all the favorable reviews.

Kelly L.

Yelp
This place is excellent every time I go. I recommend the carne asada tacos, the fried fish tacos and the dip trio.

Melissa P.

Yelp
I walked in at lunch; the restaurant was about half full. The host told me where to sit. Then nothing. I walked out after 10 minutes. What's the point? Good food if someone bothers to take your order.

Dejah M.

Yelp
The literal best. My group showed up 25 people deep and no one called ahead ‍ But instead of turning us all away, they made it work and so perfectly at that. The waiters are super great and the hosts and just everyone working there are amazing. Can't wait to give them my service again with a great tip and for sure less people They are honestly some great people working there! Oh and the food is good too! The shrimp and the fish tacos are my favorite. And the strawberry agua fresca is so great.
