Setsu Niseko (雪ニセコ)

Visually stunning hotel in a great location. Unfortunately that’s where the five-star experience ends. No room service. Sheets will not be changed except every three days. Even basic amenities like cotton buds or toothbrushes are not in the room and require a trip downstairs. At close to $2,000 a night this is simply not five-star hospitality. We’re checking out tomorrow and very much looking forward to staying at an actual five-star hotel at this price point. Beautiful building. Basic service missing. Three stars.

My first ski trip to Japan and I stayed at Setsu Niseko. The in house Rhythm Setsu shop is super convenient for rentals. The ski lockers are great and so is the shuttle service that runs pretty regularly to the king and ace gondola bases (takes around 5-10 mins I found). Breakfast was decent but the view of Mt Yotei is stunning from the hotel. I really appreciated that the hotel arranged a car to bring me to the Welcome Center where I had a shuttle bus to the airport. The rooms are pretty big and nice and warm. I liked that there were some restaurants in the hotel as it was pretty cold in the evenings and having options where I didn't have to trek through the snow was nice. Loved the Rikka Spa! The wifi service in the hotel was kind of weird it would let me on video calls and social media without issues but I couldn't go onto YouTube with it. Other than that no issues! Overall a really convenient hotel to stay at, especially if you plan to ski from the King/Ace gondolas bases. Thanks for the great stay!

An Unforgettable Stay at Setsu Niseko – Satoshi is a Diamond! 🥇🏆 Our recent stay at Setsu Niseko was absolutely wonderful, but what truly made it exceptional was the service provided by a staff member named Satoshi. He is an absolute diamond in your organization and provided some of the best customer service we have ever experienced. Satoshi handled every single one of our questions and requests with incredible efficiency. What amazed us the most was his language ability; despite being Japanese, he speaks Thai with the fluency, accent, and soul of a real Thai person. It was genuinely impressive and made us feel so welcome. He is much more than just a concierge; he gave us total confidence during our time in Niseko. We trusted his recommendations blindly—and we were right to do so! He never let us down and always guided us to the absolute best choices for food and activities. As for the hotel itself, Setsu Niseko boasts a perfect location in the center of Hirafu. It is incredibly convenient, being very close to the King Gondola. Having a Lawson right out front is a huge plus, and waking up to that stunning view of Mt. Yotei was the cherry on top. We will definitely be back, and we hope to see Satoshi again!

My wife, two children, and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The surrounding scenery was beautiful, and we truly enjoyed the various facilities available. Overall service was pleasant, and I would like to commend Jacqueline and Denise from conceirge for their exceptional assistance. Their support in coordinating with the airline was greatly appreciated and demonstrated a high level of professionalism. In addition, we found all staff members to be consistently helpful, polite, and engaging throughout our stay. The room was spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed, featuring a bathtub and offering an excellent view of the Hirafu ski area. The private and public onsen facilities were also very enjoyable—clean, relaxing, and well-maintained. Breakfast offered a nice Japanese-style selection; however, the service level at the Melo Melo breakfast area could be improved. Plates were not cleared promptly, and staff responsiveness during busy periods was limited. The only significant drawback was the Wi-Fi connection, which frequently disconnected during calls. Aside from this, our experience at the hotel was highly positive.

We stayed at this property for four nights with three young children and were extremely disappointed by how our situation was handled. We were asked to complete an online form regarding ski lessons, which was presented as an inquiry. However, this form was later used to confirm and enforce charges without clear price confirmation or explicit approval, leaving us effectively trapped into a booking we had not agreed to under those terms. Despite the circumstances, I made genuine efforts to meet the hotel halfway by accommodating the lessons on the second and third day only and attempting to adjust plans in a reasonable manner. At checkout, I was clearly informed that only those days would be charged, and I closed my folio based on that understanding. Nevertheless, an additional charge was applied to my credit card after checkout, contrary to what had been communicated in person. This was not only unexpected but also felt dishonest. Given that we were staying for multiple nights with three children, the complete lack of flexibility, understanding, and transparency was particularly disappointing. This situation could have been avoided with honest communication and basic consideration for guests. I have raised this with management and am awaiting resolution. Guests should be very cautious and ensure all charges are explicitly confirmed in writing before checking out.

Rooms are very generous in size and well equiped. Shuttle service to the gondola is pretty average (have to carry own skis into a very small shuttle); we had to pay for lockers at the gondola base to avoid logging the skis back and forth from the hotel. Restaurants are overpriced for the quality of food and service but there's a few good options.

This resort provides exceptional service and hospitality within the heart of Niseko Village. Our family room is spacious, accommodating a family of eight individuals. Niseko Village is a highly sought-after destination, attracting numerous tourists to its ski resorts, including Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu. The hotel conveniently offers a shuttle bus service to the Niseko ski resort every 30 minutes. It is a delightful experience to spend a winter holiday there with family.

I stayed for one night in late August, during a quiet time of the season. From the beautiful lobby—filled with warm wooden tones and modern design—you can enjoy a stunning view of Mt. Yotei. Our two-bedroom unit had a spacious kitchen and a tatami area with large windows. Both the service and the facilities were excellent!
