It’s my favorite bookstore in Cambridge for many reasons but most importantly because they carry all types of used and new books — really great collection of classic books (fiction), some wonderful poetry too. They have the biggest collection of Buddhist, yoga, meditation, and spiritual books from all major world religions (and even esoteric movements) anywhere in Boston or perhaps even Northeastern states. In addition they have a fantastic herbal medicine and all the new popular books in psychology, sociology and current events if that’s your jam. To add to this, they have interesting Eastern artwork as well. What an absolute gem of a bookstore with such a diverse collection!! 5 stars for customer service too. Happy to always recommend this store and support it!

Google
The best selection of books on metaphysical topics such as reincarnation, Cayce and Atlantis that I've ever come across. Entire sections of each! Great mixture of used and new, including extensive crystals. This is the kind of place that I would love to come back to and spend the entire day.

Google
I remembered loving this store and hadn't been in years so I popped in while I was in the area recently. A local bookstore with crystals sounds great! And there is a wide selection of books. This store is also the new age alt right pipeline's dream. A large part of the selection includes closed practices (they sell white sage), conspiracy theory, etc. I would not recommend shopping here.

Jonathan M.

Google
A great, rare treasure of a bookstore. Their selection of esoterica is vast and intelligently collected. A comparable place would be very hard to find.

Google
!! Don’t buy the bracelets !! I was really excited when I saw all the beautiful bracelets this store offered. Unfortunately, both of the ones I purchased broke within a month. When I went back to the store, the older man behind the counter told me there was nothing he could do since the items are imported. Very disappointing experience.

Google
This is a wonderful bookstore! There are new and used (I think?) books in lots of topics. Religion, occult, contemporary issues, philosophy, etc. I was looking for books on lucid dreaming and there were lots on that as well as on dream interpretation. Lots of religions represented here too. And the crystals, fossils, and gems - omg what a beautiful selection! They're not all hidden away behind glass too. You can touch them, pick them up, feel their weight. I wish I had a million dollars so I could buy everything! The employees are really nice too. Overall, a great store and a great experience!

Google
I found this amazing store, lovely energy, and books I could get lost in. I found a book I didn't know I needed, it was just sitting there on a shelf🙏🏽 When I return to Boston (I'm from Denmark) I will definitely go into Seven Stars again.

Narcisse K.

Google
Great local independent bookstore with a wide selection of books. It's just a little hard to tell the genre for some of books on the shelves since they aren't well labeled but the staff is happy to help.

Yelp
I've been coming to Seven Stars since--I think--the '90s, back when I was still trying to cast spells like I was in The Craft. There's always been something enchanting about this place. Surrounded by crystals and books, it felt like the kind of store that knew my spirit before I did. Every time I visit, I feel that same magic. The energy here is warm, intentional, and grounding. On my most recent trip, a beautiful and kind employee helped me discover the name of a crystal I'd been searching for. Their knowledge and gentle presence were genuinely hypnotizing. Seven Stars is more than a bookstore--it's a sacred little corner of the world where curiosity, healing, and wonder come together. I always leave feeling lighter, seen, and full of possibility.

Yelp
This is genuinely one of the cutest and most authentic book stores I've ever seen. The staff is super friendly and they have a ton of genres and authors to pick from. Theres truly something for everything. I also really liked the souvenirs they had in the front. I will be back!

Yelp
Walking into the store, I was greeted by a small dog who is absolutely adorable in their little sweater. I noticed that the store was filled with shelves of books, and some sections were labeled broadly. I didn't find the type of book I was looking for, but I was able to get an emerald tower for $20 which isn't a horrible price for crystals. I would consider going here again.

Yelp
This shop seemed like it would be perfect for someone interested in Tarot, crystals, and literature on the esoteric. That is, it is until you go in and meet the staff. I have a visual impairment that means that I cannot read small print that's more than two or three feet away. The tarot decks are held behind the counter at a much longer distance. I could tell there was a huge selection and I felt really excited that I would find decks perfect for a couple of friends. I asked if I could come behind the counter to read the titles and I was told that's not allowed under any circumstances. Ok. I thought for a moment and came up with another solution: I asked if I could look at a list of the different decks. "No. We don't have that." They said, "we can bring you any deck you want to see for a closer look," but that's not a solution if you can't see /any/ of the titles and there are clearly a huge amount! Then...they just walked away. Standing there feeling like garbage, I came up with another potential solution: I tried to be clever and use my phone camera to magnify them, but it didn't work. At no point did the staff appear interested in my efforts or offer to help. I was completely ignored. No apologies, no empathy, no offer to try to come up with a solution for the next person who comes in with a similar impairment. I got the clear impression that my disability was "my problem" and they couldn't care less about being helpful. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, despite feeling so upset. So I tried calling the next day, telling myself that maybe I had caught the staff that day off-guard. Maybe a (hopefully different) staff member could come up with a solution over the phone so I could BUY THEIR PRODUCTS. I got a different staff person...and received the exact same responses and a similar lack of interest in my vision limitations. This is NOT the right energy for a store that needs good vibes to make any sense. I've never felt so discarded by a professional from a small business. So folx with disabilities beware...take your business elsewhere if you don't want to get hurt.

Yelp
A bookstore that makes me want to learn more, be more, in the least pretentious way. Staff are helpful (and also brilliant). Best way to spend a Sunday.

Dale A.

Yelp
even Stars has a rich collection of titles on many metaphysical, political and philosophical topics. They have rare and hard to find titles as well as some more familiar or more current. A cursory look at the shelves won't do. Look deeply at the books squeezed together. There are hidden gems tucked in between. Surprisingly, with all of the rich texts, they are organized well. And the staff is extreme;y knowledgeable and helpful. I found two titles: A source book on qi gong, and a book documenting the correlations and historical encounters between the Egyptian mystery schools and Indian Buddhism.

Yelp
This a great store, been in business for decades. Stuart is great as are all the employees. They will look things up, engage in dynamic conversation and the other customers are knowledgeable and friendly as well. One of my favorite stores in the Boston area, they will even order books for you. I it!

Alyson W.

Yelp
Great book selection, helpful service, spacious and beautiful store. Decent collection of stones and crystals.

Carly B.

Yelp
Wonderful neighborhood bookstore filled with books of all genres and great vibes. This has been my go-to bookstore for books on buddhism, astrology, and metaphysics, as well as for crystals and decks to help my spiritual practice. I can not recommend enough!
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty cute book/crystal shop! They have super cheap crystals and a rather good book selection! The staff are generally nice, and there used to be an artist who would stand with his easel and draw in the corner of the bookstore pre Covid!

Luke J.

Yelp
A wonderful, happening, & soulful place. They have crystals, tarots, sage smudge, & of course books. A nice place for research, or to just hang around. Lots of cool people. Lots of good knowledge.

Simone W.

Yelp
I'm sad to say that I'm leaving one star. I've been buying crystal/stone bracelets from them for years! Well today I found out that they're all fake! How did I make this discovery? The crystal/stone bracelets that I recently bought from them...the painted on color is rubbing off. They're great for books but that's it. Consider this review fair warning.

Beth M.

Yelp
I found the selection to be impressive, the lay out to be user friendly, and the staff to be knowledgeable when asked for assistance. I loved that the two employees left us alone after greeting us, until we asked for assistance. It made me feel comfortable and welcome to browse at my leisure. My two daughters were with me, and when they were struggling to choose between two items, one of the employees came over and kindly walked them through the differences between their two options. He even made a recommendation for a third item that would better suit what they were looking for and cost less money.

Yelp
Love this store. They have an excellent selection of books and crystals. Staff is very helpful and The owner is very knowledgeable about crystals and even co-wrote a book on them. The store has great vibes and I would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for high quality crystals or spiritual books.
google avatar

Jess B.

Yelp
I could spend all afternoon in a shop like this! It's beautiful, inviting, and well-organized. My husband and I spent at least an hour in the store looking and the books and amazing array of crystals. I ended up buying a pyschology book and a crystal after speaking with one of the shop sales associates. She was able to tell me all about the crystal and let me look at whichever ones I wanted.

Yelp
Cambridge is full of specialty shops, and I love a thriving local economy! Seven Stars is the place to go for books on the Occult, Conspiracy, Astrology, Buddhist, and everything mystical. A low key store, the owners are very nice and an offer of help came quickly. You've still got time to read up on the Mayan calendar predictions for 2012, there's a plethora of crystals and stones at the counter, and the staff is only too happy to explain the healing properties of each. I would love to see more of a sitting area, and possibly small coffee and tea offerings here, to make it more of a destination book shop. Ever the cost-conscious Taurus I perused, but did not purchase, the 2010 Astrology outlook book for my sign. Lookout for the Bulls baby, this is our year!
google avatar

Charlie R.

Yelp
I was referred by a friend to go to seven stars just last month. I have already been twice now and I have left with full hands both times. Their selection of crystals is almost as broad as their selection of books! From literature on all religions, to political ideas, to the fantastical evidence of our possible existence in a matrix. The employees are always very helpful and kind, and for that, i will continue to visit.
google avatar

Lisa R.

Yelp
Still my favorite store . . . love buying crystals and jewelry here, and I absolutely adore the staff!
google avatar

Kimberly A.

Yelp
Nice store with a good selection of crystals, books and even some jewelry. The prices on the crystals are very reasonable and they have a lot of hard to find books. The staff is pretty nice and will let you shop at your own pace without hovering over you and that is the shopping environment that I like.

Julieanna D.

Yelp
felt the good vibes as soon as i walked in, spent over $70 amazing books and crystals most definitely coming back
google avatar

Samuel F.

Yelp
The place for all things (mostly books) outside of or critiquing the mainstream. Very new-agey, of course, but with enough variety for even a hard-nosed materialist such as myself. In other words, even the unenlightened won't leave with wallets unlightened.
google avatar

Ayatt A.

Yelp
Seven Stars is my favorite crystal shop in the Boston area. They carry a wide array of crystals at affordable prices. I also love their amazing, extensive book selection.

John D.

Yelp
I've been here twice. They have an ENORMOUS amount of crystals ( one of the reasons that I stop by ) in smooth polished types, different " cut out " shapes, pointed types ( used for certain work ) and in original form from the ground. Also in different sizes and shapes. Plus they have a great selection of books. I'm sure if you're looking for a certain subject, it'll be there. And if not, they had told me they would order it. It's a Great Store !!!
google avatar

Alissa W.

Yelp
I had my first experience with crystals in this shop years ago, and was hooked by the spiritual experience. The selection of stones is incredible and they rotate in new inventory all the time. The employees are always friendly and are sometimes open to chatting about what you're interested in. The owner has extensive knowledge of crystals and has named a few that I brought in to find out what they were. The array of interesting books in the shop is amazing. Take some time to browse around and see what strikes you, I always find something life changing :) I really appreciate how much this store is cared for and thriving. Thank you.

Susan K.

Yelp
This is one of my go to shops for all things in my bookshelves... from great self help books to esoteric science... and everything in between. I enjoy the help, but also the great way the books, the authors and artists and all who gather here find non judgement and knowledge
google avatar

Fabian G.

Yelp
Got a deck with a different card back than requested and also pixelated. Instead of accepting responsibility, seller just made excuses and didn't accept the mistake.
google avatar

Fabian A.

Yelp
So, we get it, it's a new age book store. But one other thing that hasn't been mentioned is that it has a pretty good obscure tarot collection behind the counter. You'll find alot of harder to find decks there that you won't see at Borders. And if they have more than one deck of the same type, one of the decks will have the cards loose and the guys behind the counter will let you look through the cards. Like other reviewers have said before too, their crystals are much better priced than any other place in town that sells semi precious gemstones. For new age or otherwise. For instance; where else will you find a fist sized Buddha carved out of lapis lazuli for $30. One other thing you'll find here that you'll never get in the metaphysical section at Barnes n' Noble is the conversations you get to overhear... you just have to be there.
google avatar

Josephine O.

Yelp
Came in to find some crystals/stones with my son-- there is a huge collection to choose from! I'm not disappointed at all. I'll be coming back soon to stock up on products for my new home... I cannot wait.

Yelp
Seven Stars is a pretty unique place in Central. This is a poster child for the type of place that I think only exists in like Cambridge, Austin, San Francisco, etc. They have a really specialized and focused colleciton of books - but if you are interested in alternative religions (i.e. not maintsream Christianity) they have a really extensive collection. I was able to find a copy of Greek tragedies that I was looking for (and Rodney's didn't have) with some really helpful assistance from the guy working the desk. I am sort of amazed this place stays in business in the age of Amazon and Borders. Cambridgians need to support this place and keep them a part of the local community.
google avatar

Claire S.

Yelp
You will fall for the atmosphere instantly! This is one of the best book store on the planet!
google avatar

Mike J.

Yelp
The store is fine if you like weird things -- the crystals are extremely strange if you ask me. If you're looking for some super old and overpriced books, this is the place to go. I visited them back in 2006 and was told that their "website is coming soon". Here we are 7 years later and the exact same "unable to connect to database" message exists on their website. You'd think they'd have hired someone to fix that by now...
google avatar

Tracee D.

Yelp
I am officially crossing over. Kind of. I stumbled into here to look for some books for a paper I'm writing on meditation. Totally glad I did. I always ignored this store & thought it was filled with books about karma and maybe an illustrated I Ching- but there really is so much more. Great yoga books- great metaphysical books. Awesome books about meditation. I like niche markets & I'm going to visualize that this book store is here forever and ever.
google avatar

Meghan M.

Yelp
Seven Stars is the best shop of this genre in the Boston area. I guess their label would be "new-age" but they have a lot more to offer than that stereotype would suggest. I have to moderate my visits there because I always find something to buy. My favorite purchase so far has been a moldavite pendant. It's hard to find moldavite, and the pieces you can find at Seven Stars are both beautiful and affordable. I would definitely recommend a visit!
google avatar

Amentet M.

Yelp
I wandered into Seven Stars on a search for some semi-precious stones, and was thrilled at their selection and prices. They have a wide collection of beautiful stones, and a pretty knowledgeable staff. I'm hooked now - I've been back a few times for more crystals, and have been happy to find several metaphysical and astrological books, both new and used, that I've been searching for to no avail for a while. The environment is quiet and peaceful. You won't feel rushed, no matter how long you spend trying to find just the right crystal or book. It's the only place I've found in my two years in Boston that really hits this niche. I plan on going back soon and trying to find the perfect set of tarot cards.
google avatar

Sandy B.

Yelp
Seven Stars! If I could have given 7 stars, I would have for this review. It is one of the few places in the Boston area where you can still find a good collection of semi-precious stones and books on Eastern philosophy, thought and "Alternative" philosophy and thought, etc. A nice place to browse books, stones and people in Central Square.
google avatar

Denise B.

Yelp
This store has the best selection of Tarot books and Tarot cards I have seen in one store. I highly recommend it!
google avatar

N D.

Yelp
Seven Stars is such an interesting store; they have books ranging from topics such as eastern spirituality to drugs to druids (!?) to alchemy. I love going here to peruse the the shelves and usually end up getting something absurd that I wouldn't necessarily find anywhere else (a visual history of norse mythology, par exemple). They also have some really cool semi-precious stones and jewelry; I haven't bought any, but the guy behind the counter has been helpful in explaining the differences between them. I mean, the whole place is definitely out there, but it's a cool spot to check out if you're in the area - and it's always good to support the local economy. (: I just wish they had some more chairs or floor cushions or something.
google avatar

Christine K.

Yelp
Excellent selection of books on a variety of specialized and esoteric topics (I spend all my time in the religion and philosophy sections). The books are both new and used, and I've bought a number of rare, out-of-print volumes here -- usually in good condition! The table that runs down the middle of the store also has a thoughtful selection of popular books, both fiction and non-. I occasionally think that the fact that the owner knows what books are worth is a drawback: it's not a place where you'll find an expensive out-of-print book priced for a dollar. On the other hand, there's not much junk that you have to dig through to find the gems. Although some of the rare books initially seem on the expensive side, a quick check online generally demonstrates that the price marked is fair. The owner also buys used books at a generous rate, especially if you ask for store credit -- the only way you'll do better is to sell your books yourself one at a time on Half.com (I've tried that method -- it's time-intensive and books can take years to sell). There aren't many independent bookstores left, and this is one that definitely deserves your business. I've found and bought books here that I never would have known existed if I hadn't had the chance to physically browse the shelves.
google avatar

Anne C.

Yelp
I go here about once a month to check out their crystals. They have a beautiful selection of larger crystals and the quality of them is top notch. I also think their prices for them are very reasonable. I've got a lot of lovely treasures in my collection from this place.
google avatar

Bill S.

Yelp
Well, I made it to Seven Stars. They didn't have a ton of tarot cards - more than say a Barnes and Noble but less than some of the western Mass shops. They had the standard Waite variations and the more recent LoS decks, but nothing that stood out for this repro fan. But they were very nice and helpful. What they did have was a TON of books, including more than two shelves devoted to Tarot. They had shelves upon shelves of stuff. Whole bookcases each devoted to Golden Dawn, Wicca, Celtic stuff, I Ching, Buddhism, Kabbalah ... Just astounding. Had easy nearby parking. So while I wasn't exactly wowed by the tarot selection, which was dwarfed by their crystal collection, I would definitely recommend them.

Yelp
I had no idea I was about to walk into the #1 occult/esoteric bookstore in America when I randomly stumbled in here based on a Yelp search for bookstores. I was looking for some traditional astrology texts and books about John Dee and found both. Philip, Mike and I had a great conversation ranging from tarot, gurus, ninjutsu and beyond! The enormous selection on the shelves is one thing (which includes an entire wall of Eastern sources) but it's the people there that make the real difference. I'll be back for more conversations and that 'reverse buyer's remorse' is already kicking in. Did I mention they also have one of the best collections of mineral specimens I have ever seen too!?! Rows and cases full of choices!

Mysterious C.

Yelp
I shopped here since I was young and it was a tiny spot in Harvard Sq. This current spot where they have been for ages is large, well laid out, and packed to the gills with occult books, Tarot, crystals, etc. If you are interested in the occult or a practicing Magickian, this store is well worth a visit. I like the fact that it always has a great selection and that it is a local business well worth supporting.
google avatar

Kylie S.

Yelp
Great spiritual bookstore--lots of metaphysical books. The place has a good vibe, nice staff. They mostly have books but also carry crystals and gemstones and tarot cards. I only took a brief look around, but I was pretty impressed with the book selection.
google avatar

Jeri L.

Yelp
Great selection, helpful and kind people. An oasis in the city. You can linger there and chat too. A super small business that hopefully stays open forever.
google avatar

K L.

Yelp
I love this bookstore and have for a number of years. My interest is Spiritual Ets and UFO subject matter . The Seven Stars Bookstore is a great place to go when visiting Boston/Cambridge. They have the best section of old and new Et and UFO Books of any place I have been to. I also enjoy the Cosmic Spiritual New Age area aswell. This is a very unique Bookstore . I would give Seven Stars a 10 Star rating if I could. Namaste
google avatar

Thomas D.

Yelp
Was awesome great stone and crystal selection and a ton of books for all kinds of things from tarot to the Bible. Workers were helpful as well. Thanks guys will definitely be back
google avatar

Geo B.

Yelp
To the people who posted critical reviews because they didn't get the help they were looking for, I have always found the people working here to be knowledgeable & helpful, but they aren't necessarily going to be all over you & exerting sales pressure when you come into the shop, instead, I think they respectfully give a bit of distance & let the customer look in peace. I for one like this approach. I can always find something unusual & inspiring to add to my library here. The shop features a great mix of new & hard to find/out of print titles.
google avatar

Mrs. G.

Yelp
Neat little shop with really interesting books you don't find anywhere else. The crystals are also beautiful. Looking forward to returning soon.

Gaby R.

Yelp
The owner is very condescending and rude, or at least he was when I spoke to him on the phone about selling him a used book. I will certainly never give them by business. I want to support business where kindness is a priority!
