Nice corner market on a quiet corner in the Castro. They cram a lot into this little store. In the front they have some fresh fruit, an ATM, and lots of liquor. They also have a selection of empanadas which are about $5 each. There is a local cafe two locks away that makes fresh empanadas, so they might want to consider something else. Staff is friendly. Street parking only, but you could probably double park if you wanted to run in. Just watch for “street cars”.

been coming here weekly for almost 2 years now and sammy is awesome! he's always friendly and so are the other staff there! the beef empanadas are super tasty! 10/10 would recommend

Great small Castro neighborhood grocery. I have lived in the neighborhood for over 40 years and this small family business has been extremely handy! I don't mind the prices because of the convenience and friendly owners and employees. Glad they have been able to remain an asset to my community! ❤️

This bodega is one of the best parts of living on the block. It’s family-run by a bunch of really nice people. I cook a lot and can usually find anything I forgot to pick up here for an expected convenience markup. Wine, beer & liquor selection is great too.

This is an excellent little bodega. Parking is very difficult but not impossible. The F train stops a block away. Also Castro station & other buses are in walking distance 1-3 blocks away.

It is okay as a corner convenience store, even though some items aren't clearly marked for pricing. For example one afternoon I was charged $3.00 for a 2 ltr btl of Coke, then the next time I came in for the same thing a couple weeks later the boy at the counter charged me $4 bucks. As a trend I suspect that I may be paying $5 the next time I come by. If I am desperate. There is another corner convenience store at Church and 15th Street that consistently charges regular prices. A little more for 2 ltr btls of soda because they are kept in the cooler, chilled just right. Nuff said. I'm just a resident that lives here, not someone visiting for a couple weeks or so. Everything is either expensive or extra expensive, because some merchants can get away with price gouging. I was born and raised in Hawaii, the economy has similarities, but not the same transportation costs. Both are nice places to visit, but only the very rich or the working poor live there (Hawaii), . . San Francisco on the other hand, . . it is complicated. As one if the most expensive cities on planet earth to live in. Me I am one of the working poor, and still homeless.

Much nicer than most convenience stores in the area, with quite a decent selection of beer/wine/liquor.

This family is among the kindest people to run a corner market in town. Sam is the primary manager, his delightful mom also works there (although less since Covid), & his always-friendly kid) among others. I don't drink much anymore, but his wine selection I'm told, rivals any wine shoppe in town, as Sam is our neighborhood "sommelier" of sorts. If you enjoy a product, he will try & get it for you. I love Tejava tea for example, & he always has it in stock. Since my wrist is weak since I fractured it some years back, he will often volunteer to open the bottle for me. What a gentleman! They carry lots of organic products which can be pricey, but if that's what you want, it's 8:30pm & your health food store is closed-voila! there it is for you. These folks are terrific people, & I appreciate their kindness to me.

I've been going to this gem of a corner market for years now. The good merchandise and service has never wavered. I'm old and use a cane now, but Sammy takes care of me: dropped my credit card, he came from around the counter to pick it up for me. Same visit, I left my cane by the milk department. He went and found it and lovingly gave it to me. AND, he had sweet people in line waiting. All were so kind. This is San Francisco personified .

A friendly neighborhood market carrying a good selection of craft beer and essentials (like wine and baklava). Echoing another reviewer that the younger guy who works at night is awesome. I volunteer with a group dedicated to keeping people safe in the Castro and whenever we stop in to see how things are going he's always so kind. On hot days he even offers us water or a treat and thanks us for looking out for the local businesses. He says hello and chats with everyone who comes in there, recognizing many of them. I don't know about you, but I'll take that over a big box store any day.

It's so hard for me to visit the old neighborhood because it's just so different and our house isn't ours anymore and there are heteroyuppies breeding and shopping for designer petwear. So sometimes when I want to take a walk through the 'hood on a sunny day I have to fool myself into thinking we're just going to take a stroll around the Mission, me and some friends, and if we happen to end up outside the house where I used to play hopscotch (alone, because I'm a lonely only) it will be by accident and not because I'm taking a sniffly walk down sappy lane. And sometimes it helps to stop by the corner market and pick up some mini boozes and some mixers for a little liquid reinforcement. But then I walk by the market at 17th and Noe with their Martha Stewart-ass green awning and their cute little curb appeal like this is Paris or some shit, and it's like the store is looking at me with my can of Kerns juice half full of Smirnoff and being like, "Clean it up, woman. We're trying to make it fresh around here."

Wow! You wouldn't think it just walking by but they have an amazing wine selection (and lots of nice cheeses and nibbles too). I also like the fact that they have some beers from smaller breweries too. And yes, the array of spirits is expanisve...I think it safe to say they have the nicest selection of liquor around. So what makes a little market with good selection five-star?! The owner. He is so incredibly nice every single time. It's the kind of nice that is contagious...the world needs more business owners like this guy. I walk past two other similar stores just for that.

My friendly neighborhood market. Awesome owners, and awesome younger guy who works at night. Really top notch wine selection - you'll be surprised for a corner market. Some rare finds and great buys. Good beer and ice cream selection. Friendly faces. This is my go-to in the hood and I love these people.

The customer service was terrible when I went. Im a Lyft driver and I went in for a pack of gum in between rides. It was 1.79. The cashier was being very impatient w/me because I was taking too long to count out the change I had in my pocket. "It's just 1.79.. It's just 1.79", he kept repeating. I was a bit confused but still tried to remain polite as I wasn't quite sure what he was getting at so I asked, "Is everything OK?" He replied that I needed to hurry up because he had "lots of things to do". I looked behind me and there were not customers who I was holding up. I guess he had something urgent to do in the back that justified being rude to a customer. So I took back the change, put down two one dollar bills and told him to keep the change. I didnt want to hold him up further by giving my change back to me. I politely and calmly told him that I felt he was being very rude to me. He ignored me. My only crime was taking a bit too long in counting out my money. Did I really deserve to be treated so rudely? Maybe if I was buying an expensive bottle of high end alcohol I may have been treated better. Who knows.

After pulling over here to pick up a 12 pack (my boyfriend and I have tomorrow off, don't judge!) my man goes inside and around the corner while I wait in the car. The guy who "works" there threw something at my car once my bf was out of sight so I rolled my window down to get my bf's attention and tell him not to give this guy any money but he can't hear me because of the BLARING radio, so I shrugged at the guy behind the counter who just looked at me like he fucking hated me. WTF?! I then see my bf talking to this guy and also shrugging, then going to put the 12 pack back. As he walked out, I told him that the guy threw something at my car and he was going to go back in but I said forget it. He agrees, gets in the car and tells me that the guy tried to charge $15.99 for a 12 pack of PBR cans (WTF?!) and he was like, forget it, and the guy was all, ok, $10.99 and my bf told him to fuck off. Between that and him throwing god knows what at the side of my car, it's needless to say we will NOT be going back. I have gone in there many times for water on my 17th street runs but NEVER AGAIN. IF YOU HATE PEOPLE, YOU PROBABLY SHOULD NOT WORK IN CUSTOMER SERVICE! Ugh...

The owner of this store is an angel! Whenever you go to the Castro visit this store and spend some money! I started going to this store in 1994 when I first moved to San Francisco. They were so friendly that I made it my place to go for snacks and beverages even though I lived next door to 7-11. When I moved "out of town" and was living near Safeway I still made the walk to their store. Over the years I have moved further downtown and my visits became infrequent. My situation has changed and I am now disabled and on very limited income. I stopped going there because I had no money to spend. Now I recycle and often pass by the store. Sam remembered me from when I lived on Noe and 18th. It had been over 10 years since I had seen him. The fact that he remembered me and was still just as sunny and bright made my day. He offers me food and never asks for money. There are other stores to go when I have a few bucks, but I won't go to them. I give my money to Sam because he is the best small business in the city. I tell everyone to go to this store. I am telling you, too. Please give the wonderful people at this store your business. We don't ever want to lose them. This store is the definition of heaven.

Best market in the city. The people, prices and products. A quality local family market is rare to see anymore.

A surprisingly good little store. Was dropping by a friends place and this was the closest market for some beverages before our trip north. If you know me I love weird sodas and this place was chocked full of them. Don't let that sell you though. There's booze, preserved salted meats and porn too!

Love this corner store. Surprisingly good selection of beers and almond milk. Friendly family owners Sam (the son) and Ada (mother). They sell homemade baklava by the counter.

This is a great place to find wines. The owners have gone out of there way to buy a great selection of wines you can only get at this store. Everything from restaurant only wines to everyday wines. Sam is always the one to ask about each and every wine they have to offer. He has tasted and bought all of the wines they carry. Also check out all the hard to find booze they carry as well.

Just as many others before me have said, the customer service here sucks. It's actually completely nonexistent. To the female owner: If your phone conversation is SO important that you stay on the phone from the minute I walk in to the minute I walk out, perhaps you should close shop for your ultra important phone call. You took the time to peek around the corner from the back of the store, could you not even return my smile? Would it have cost you anything to put the phone down while I paid for my groceries? You pressed that phone to your ear & continued to gab, all while I handed you my card, bagged my own stuff, and even while you handed me my receipt. The prices here are outrageously expensive, & I don't mind paying them if you act like my business is important to you. Don't take your prime location for granted. People get sick of being treated poorly. If you refuse to acknowledge your customers, at least lower your damn prices!

Sam and his parents own this corner store, have for years. And the sandwiches are great, freshly made and with good quality ingredients. But the real draw here is the wines on offer. Sam has a great palate and very good connections with wine merchants and has stocked this little cornerstore with some of the best wines available. Not to forget, the liquors are quite a selection as well. And it has all the other items you'd expect at a cornerstore. How good is that?!

So I have made several calls to the "owners" of this establishment and have yet to even receive an apology. I'm not sure whats up here, but apparently they find it ok to let people just sit behind thier counter and call customer a bitch. I'm just amazed. I went in there, and for absolutely no reason- the person behind the counter starts shit with me. AFTER i had paid for several bottle of wine. Can you imagine? I left there saying to my girlfriend, "what the #$@% was that guys problem" The funny thing is, several calls later and they still don't get it. All they said was- he doesn't work here. Are you kidding me? Is that supposed to make it alright?

This is without question the best corner store I have ever been to! I lived here for 4 years and got to know the owner and his mother from frequent trips and they were always so kind and gracious with a smile that will make your day. If you wanted something they would make sure that they ordered it for you, and although the pricing may be a little higher than a grocery store, that's always the case of a corner store and I much prefer to support this type of establishment. I moved away for three years and my first visit back I was greeted with a warm smile and "I haven't seen you in years, are you back?" Truly a great experience, and I wish I could give them more stars for being so fantastic.

as far as markets go, this is a standard corner market. enormous wine & booze selection but, other than that, many dusty items on shelves. pretty regular. however, the owners are super friendly and if you go to this market during business hours, you have the option of ordering a sandwich. the sandwiches they make here are really delicious. in my mind, they're old-school sandwiches : super fresh, made to order, with lots of meat and cheese, three slices of bread, crisp lettuce, onion and pickles. and all for around $4. this is a really super place to grab an inexpensive lunch. a note of advice : if you're in a hurry, this may not be the best place for you. oftentimes, the owner works alone and will have customers waiting, either to pay for a purchase, or while the sandwiches are being made. though it's definitely worth it, if you can wait.

I've been shopping here for twelve years, it is my favorite neighborhood market. Great wine selection, open late, and very near my home.

Come here on a random weekend afternoon and leave with sparkling sake, brown rice, an avocado, and a giants bic lighter. Best corner store.

I did most of my shopping here when I lived in the neighborhood because, let's be honest, the Mollie Stones kind of sucks and is way overpriced so why bother, and I am not going to walk all the way to the Safeway, especially in the rain. I got by just fine at 17th and Noe and really liked the people who worked there! Good deviled eggs too.

They have the best selection and prices for beer, wine and liquor in the neighborhood. They are a deli but I've yet to get a sandwich there. What I like most about this little market is the guy I presume to be the owner (he was the only one I ever saw behind the counter). The guy is just so nice and radiates this positive energy that just forces you to have a good day. This is what the Castro's local businesses is/ should be all about.

This place has saved my life numerous times when everything else was closed and I was hungry. It's christmas eve and they are open until 11PM while everything else is closed! The guy that works there is extremely nice too.

The nice lady that runs the deli counter in here makes the best deviled eggs ever!

Ok, this is admittedly one of the better liquor stores in the Castro area. They are friendly and have a decent alcohol selection including many wines:

Friendly people and an amazingly large selection for a small corner market. Sam is incredibly friendly to everyone. He enjoys wine and has a great depth of knowledge about wines. This store has one of the best selections of wines you will find. Best of all the prices are great. He has some great expensive wines to pick from but best of all is the large variety of reasonably priced wines. Some of his lower cost wines are the best. Sam loves to talk to you about wine and will always steer you towards something that will match your meal and you pocketbook. However, one of the best treats are the deviled eggs made fresh by his Mom. Don't pass up trying these wonderful treats. Good selection, really friendly people, fantastic wine selection at good prices plus those amazing home made deviled eggs. Oh - by the way the also have a good selection of regular groceries and other beverages just like you would expect at a grocery store.

it seems like it's very hard to find soy milk. cala was out of it. the market next to my new house never sold any. neither did 7-11. but then i found 17th and noe. yay! soy milk! i'd also been here before and we picked up some vodka. the guy at the counter was very friendly, esp the second, soy milk time, maybe because it was less busy. i like convenience stores that are CONVENIENT. :)

My partner lives in this neighborhood and we both love this market, which we know as "Sam's" (run by a very thoughtful man named Sam). A great selection of items for a convenience store. His mother makes incredibly delicious deviled eggs. My own mother frequently craves them and had to have a batch this Mother's Day. Fair prices and very good service. That has been my experience. My partner comes here about every other day, and has done so for over a decade, and loves the place. Gratitude to Sam for turning this corner store into a welcoming spot in the neighborhood.
