The Best Hotels and Resorts in Europe and the UK: The Gold List 2025

"The best thing about Severin’s is its orchard, filled with lots of old apple trees and, among them, tables that are set for meals. Traditional Strandkorb wicker chairs and chaise longues invite guests to relax and admire the white and pink blossoms in the spring and enjoy the shade that the trees and parasols provide in the summer. In the winter, when the temperatures drop, the trees look like they are frosted with sugar. Yes, there are many reasons to visit the northernmost of Germany’s islands even in the cold season. Another one of them is Severin’s spa, with its saunas, hammam, and swimming pool complete with a fireplace. The interior in pleasant neutral colors is bathed in warm light. You won’t find anywhere on Sylt more relaxing after a long walk on the beach. If you are looking for absolute privacy, Severin’s is a perfect choice with 23 studios and apartments as well as five houses and villas measuring up to 4,300 square feet. The emphasis is on spaciousness, not mere excess. The two-story thatchroof resort blends in harmoniously with the charming village of Keitum on the edge of the Wadden Sea. From $467. —Dennis Braatz" - CNT Editors

Mixed experience at best. Hotel does not live up to the standards they set for themselves. Breakfast is great. Rooms are nicely designed – unfortunately we had the pleasure of facing the trash cans (quite a number of them), and had the privilege of being woken by the sounds of trash being picked up and glass containers being emptied in the morning. Reception team did not seem to care at all about our complaint in the first place, and then finally moved us to a different, yet smaller room. Not a great experience all in all.

Absolutely excellent on every level. Love Severins! Love Sylt. While I don't feel like sharing the place with my fellow Americans, the hotel deserves a 10 star review! Timpkens restaurant should have a 10 star Michelin review- especially loved the lamb & Hoog had the best sole I have ever had. Breakfast was excellent on all levels & love the outdoor seating. |The staff was extremely helpful in identifying the best room for my German father in-law who has mobility issues. My German husband and I liked the apartments offered.|The pool was nice and big and perfect for swimming laps. I LOVED the 3 different saunas. Concierge desk did an excellent job booking us into the best restaurants. You are in Germany so be on time for your reservations! Gorgeous, clean island with wonderful beaches, biking & shopping. Reserve a car reservation for the train in advanced.|I can't wait to return!

Weekend away for two and we could not have wished for a better place. There is so much to say but what stood out the most is the staff who really seemed focused on making our stay very special. |Our room was very comfortable, large and pleasant with a large bathroom and a wonderful bed. Breakfast was great too with a large selection of almost everything and a combination of buffet and personal attention and service.|Look forward to return soon!||(We can also recommend Tipken’s)

Very high quality hotel in every way, in Keitum village on Sylt island. |Great personalised service and attention to detail given by all the staff.|Large, luxurious bedroom and beautifully appointed bar/dining room/reception areas. Gorgeous flower arrangements. The hotel's fine dining restaurant and bistro very expensive but there are also good alternatives in Keitum village.

Such a lovely place. Fantastic food, wine and service. This is 5star destination that deserves to be called 5 stars. We will be back soon. The garden is amazing as well as the choice on French chateux wine in their cellar. Food great, service great, location great, what else do you need?

Stayed here recently with family including 2 kids. My expectation was high but I was somewhat sceptical having stayed at many other Sylt Hotels and compared to our usual travel pattern which is mostly Four Seasons, MO, St. Regis etc.||But we were positively surprised. Hardware is very Good. Wonderful quite location. Excellent service. SPA / Pool Area is the best in Germany. Kids loved the Hotel.||Breakfast more than excellent. Superb Service. Also the Bar is very nice. The 2 restaurants were also good but food could be improved.||Overall the Hotel is one of the very best in Germany and Europe.||We will return.

Very pleasant and previously coming staff in all areas, service is really capitalized here. Individual wishes are taken here with a lightness that is so unfortunately only very rarely used. In addition to great rooms and very good food, it is really highly recommended!
