Seward Community Library & Museum

While on vacation, I stopped in here a few times to use this library's facilities, which were clean, modern, and advantageous for my work. Walkable location and stellar WiFi too. The museum downstairs was only $5 (cash only). I was blown away by some of the Alaskan artifacts on display. I'd recommend this library over any of the cafés in town.

Magical Seward Community Library & Museum Been to 38 countries & this is by far the most unique library/community center I've ever experienced! I fell in love with everything about it, watch the next reel for the mural reveal! It's breathtaking! This left me speechless in the garden. I stopped by there yesterday. Iwent into the museum ,I was not charged but today I noticed it's a 4 dollar charge. It was interesting i learned a lot about Alaska and took afew photos. I am posting 10 photos of museum.

Living and working on the road can be rough but I absolutely love getting work done here! The WiFi is fast and easy to connect to (it’s also on 24/7 and works outside the building, there is a sign advertising this!), desks have plenty of outlets, and there is always room for me when I come in.

I noticed this building from the Iditarod Historical site, and just walked up to check out the building. I didn’t go inside, but as you can tell, it’s a beautiful building.

I have only been to the museum section. Some very interesting items and some great history of the town and America. The small town of Seward is a very historical place, so take advantage of it well your in town. Also i bought a disk ( had to ask for it) of the 1964 earthquake. Larned so much

This library punches above its weight! It has features that other public libraries three times its size could benefit from having. The downstairs museum is a must stop for first time visitors to Seward and gets you immediately up to speed with the history and pivotal events and figures who helped to shape what this town has become. There are a few onsite movies you can watch and also a community center downstairs that was well in use by a gaggle of children when we dropped in on a Saturday. If you're wandering around town in the cold and possibly in need of a public restroom, this is a warm haven you'll appreciate! Upstairs features internet stations, charging stations for mobile devices, and private booths for taking calls (SUPER useful if you're working remotely or while you travel). The book selection is well maintained and ample enough to likely have something you're interested in picking up.

Great library in a really neat looking building. The museum is cash only and we were not prepared but would have liked to visit.

Three year old library and museum is beautiful, inside and out. Terrific staff and selection with free wifi. You can see and feel the community love that went into this impressive facility.

Great place to spend a cold or rainy day. The two films on the iditarod and the 1964 earthquake were fascinating as history came to life right before our eyes. The footage is almost unbelievable considering the technology limits back in those days. History leaps right off the screen as you watch a tidal wave crash over Seward shortly after the earthquake hit. The stories from those who were there are just incredible. It is worth taking 1 hour to watch these films. The museum was also incredible interesting and full of things that even as a born and raised Alaskan I did not know. The entrance fee is only $4, and you're allowed to take photos which is not always the case in museums. There are newspapers, stories from locals, old tools used in the mining days, housewares, history, artifacts, and even the very first Alaskan Flag with the stories of its beginning. Definitely a stop you want to make while you're in Seward whether you are a local Alaskan or out of state visitor.

Been using this library for 3 years, and always had good help; this year however the help seems to only cause me agony. The new reception is a brutal by the books, wisper only above a mumble, if you dare to get anything done. I was accused of not returning books that were check out two years ago, after i had left the town. Talking to other librarians about this problem to be resolved was great but this lady tried to reduce charges even after showing her proof I wasn't even in town. She reluctantly, finally, dropped the charges and books after filing more paperwork and answering a series of dumb questions. All this for wanting to check out one movie even though I have been renting for 3 weeks. Library nazi to the max. Speak if you dare to argue

Good way to spend a rainy day. Very busy, free wifi, and a warm dry place.
