I love this amazing resource for our community! Due to the excessive waste in the fiber industry I’ve gravitated to purchasing second hand, dead stock etc for better sustainability in my craft. SewGreen is also a generous community business. I recently received some lovely donations for a fiber arts club I’m running at a local elementary and I’ve learned that they also donate to the schools after school programming. I’ve had incredible customer service and genuine conversations with staff any time I’ve stopped in. For a host of reasons I will always be an enthusiastic supporter of SewGreen.

I found some absolute treasures here at fantastic prices. There's a huge variety of fabrics and accessories here, all of which have been saved from another fate. You'll never find super large quantities here, but plenty to do a cosplay project or two. I happily visit here and feel good about the money I spend!

Google
Exquisite place. We were pleasantly surprised to find a person we knew in the form of a blue fishy. Would have purchased but we had a bus to catch (TCAT - find review). The salesperson was nice and let us just be there for warmth from the grueling winter. We walked in twice, making no purchases, and her no complaints. Would visit many times again. Xoxo

Google
Always amazing! I find the coolest things here. Their fabric and trim selection is always changing, but they always seem to have the notions that I need. It's an hour from where I live, but I would rather drive out here, then go to Jo-Ann's any day.

Google
This non-profit place looks more like a high-end shop. They have mastered presentation. And they know fabric. I have bought scraps for a dollar and vintage stuff for lots more! I love that they teach lots of classes to area children. Keeping the arts alive in Ithaca!

I took my grandmother's sewing machine in for a repair. Wendy was very friendly and knowledgeable. She was able to tune up my machine and help me get the right bobbin. The machine is working great now! I would definitely recommend Wendy's services for machine repair! Thanks, Sewgreen 😊

Google
Love the store. I have three sewing machines there for maintenance right now. Experienced and helpful staff. I always feel like I have nourished the planet and myself after shopping here.

Google
Great shop with friendly and knowledge staff. The store has tons of beautiful fabric and yarn. Way better than any chain craft store.

Yelp
This shop is the cutest!! It's like a candy shop for fiber lovers. I loved talking with the staff, and after learning that they not only sell fabrics that are well priced but also teach fashion sewing, I AM A FAN.

Yelp
I was in Ithaca several months ago and on my agenda was to visit Sew Green. It did not disappoint. I was able to purchase some beautiful denim for an apron I made. The store clerk was so helpful when I told her what I wanted to sew. I didn't know I wanted denim, but when she found it, I just knew!! And it was enough for 2 aprons!! I drove down from Rochester, I hope to be back soon!!!

Yelp
They have a new address at 112 W. Green St.... Just 3/10 of a mile from their old location but the store is a fraction of the size. Super crowded with the Eileen Fisher renew items along one side, fabric along the other and notions down the middle. Prices were super high... Gone is the fabulous table at the back where you could fill a bag with miscellaneous remnants. They do have a wagon full of assorted items for a dollar outfront but the good deals that you used to be able to find are gone - not what it used to be

Yelp
I used to really enjoy stopping into Sew Green. Ever since the store 1.) moved to the Green Street location and 2.) changed ownership, I have not been by. The store seems more like a retail location now for jewelry and other "lifestyle" items, and the staff are not very knowledgeable about basic craft tools; it's such a change from my previous experiences in the store, in which the staff were super knowledgeable. Recently, I stopped in recently for a cable needle, and when I asked the person behind the counter if there were any in stock, she admitted that she did not know what it was and tried suggesting a number of unhelpful tools.

Yelp
When my son was at Ithaca College, I visited Sew Green often. Never had a bad experience and always found something to bring home, from fabric, to books and notions, and even a refurbished sewing machine! Often when families settle their deceased lived one's affairs, sewing/crafting supplies get tossed. I love that everything in the store is from people's sewing stashes. It's a great way to get things people aren't using back into circulation for others to purchase, and at very reasonable prices. I'm sure if there are complaints about staff or unfriendliness, they will be addressed by the Sew Green management. I always found the staff to be helpful when I needed help, but also unobtrusive as I browsed the store.

Yelp
Not super friendly. Went to look for some yarn stash and this place was recommended. Not tons of yarn and not unique. Looks more like a hobby store. Did not find anything for my wife. I will not be back. Bet small place. Mostly sewing stuff.

Yelp
The workers are so friendly and helpful, and the craft selection is fantastic! I walked in wanting to buy a smaller crochet hook, and then also ended up leaving with a bag of yarn from the fill your own bag section. But there are also knitting needles, fabric, buttons, mask materials...pretty much everything a crafter's heart could desire. Their COVID precautions are amazing, too. Wait outside, double mask, use hand sanitizer, and give your name and phone number for contact tracing purposes. Although your time inside is limited to 20 minutes, that's more than enough if you know what you want, or just want to quickly browse and grab a few things.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I trusted this business to repair my sewing machine. I dropped off my husband's grandmother's 1951 Singer in 2014 for a tune up and power cord. Years of emails, phone calls, and personal visits finally revealed that my machine was lost and likely was donated to someone else. I was offered $250 for compensation, which I never received. Reluctantly, I have turned to social media to expose Sew Green for their gross negligence in the hopes that this doesn't happen to someone else.

Yelp
A truly saving-grace kind of store! Just last week found a great quantity of microfleece for lining my up cycled mittens that I couldn't find anywhere else. Thanks for being there and being so very careful during COVID; nowhere else did I find such precautions taken. Peg Striano

Yelp
I run a small business designing handbags from vintage, recycled, and repurposed materials, so I was THRILLED to discover this store on my last trip to Ithaca. I had a great time perusing a selection of fabrics you'd never find anywhere else--along with various findings, buttons, knitting supplies and other textile-arts supplies. I found the prices pretty reasonable for the quality and uniqueness of the fabrics. However, since these are all "used" items that have clearly been stored under various conditions in people's attics, I would carefully check any purchases for stains, damage, or musty odors. I'd jump at a chance to go back here--and definitely will make a point to stop in on future visits to the city.

Yelp
Going here is the most painful shopping experience I've had since I was here in September. I came back thinking my first experience was just a bad day. Nope! The new staff is so rude and angry . I was told to double mask, no problem, but don't take your anger out on your customers. Since this store has changed hands the level of 'non-customer' service is deplorable . Will never step foot in here again or Ithaca for that matter. I know we are in hard times but a smile and friendliness goes a long way.

Yelp
Thanks for all the surport I got from sew green. It was the best job I ever had working there. I enjoyed learning all new task that I never learn before thanks for teaching Mr how to sew. And I also learned how to be a fashion model I have great experience with that. I had learn so much from sew green. Think possitive and just be a good role model that makes the best in your self when you are a employer or if you not it's important to still work hard on that. I'am a sewing queen and fashion modling queen. Never give you just keep trying.

Yelp
Whenever I visit Ithaca I stop in here in the hopes that my experience would be better. The quality of customer service you get her is hit or miss. Some days you get really nice helpful people. Other days, not so much. A lot of times, the general staff do their best to ignore your presence, evading the possibility that you may have a question about something. A number of times, I've seen the staff at the cutting table ignore customers too. The store runs on donations and yet the prices of items do not reflect this. If I have to pay $7 or more a yard for cottons, why wouldn't I just go to JoAnn's ? The store is set up in a well organized fashion and things are fairly easy to find.

Yelp
Sew Green is fantastic. It's a salvage store for opportunity shopping. Quality fabrics of all kinds, yarns, roving, nifty textile tools and stuff, patterns, buttons, nifty things, sewing machines.... This stuff has not been used; it has been acquired from stores, individuals, ?? It's new stuff but you won't often get a full bolt or maybe not the yardage you need or want. What they have is what they have; it varies according to what is available to them. Like I said, opportunity shopping. They always have FINE QUALITY items and wonderfully creative colors, patterns, textures, designs. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly, laid back. I appreciate they let me browse without trying to help. It I ask, they are spot on. They offer classes and sewing machine repair, tune ups. If you're on a budget but want to shop for the best material, yarn, buttons, etc at a reasonable price to feed your creativity, this is the place. I'd give five stars if they were a Living Wage employer. As it is, I think Sew Green is a great asset to sewers, knitters, and textile artists.

Yelp
Shocking lack of inclusive policies was a real disappointment. I guess environmentally friendly does not necessarily translate to being a good person or inclusive and welcoming of non-typical customers. Will never return.

Yelp
Delightful combination of sewing, knitting and craft shop. Mixture of new and used materials lots of great bargains and friendly people. I'll check them out again
